Café De Olla is an authentic Mexican restaurant. The restaurant was clean and spacious. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes breakfast menu, pancakes, lunch menu, salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. I didn't stop by to dine in but to try their bakery. The staff were friendly. I chose a couple of pastries: -Mini Pecan Pie cookies - Strawberry Danish - Cubilete - Rebanada Choclatosa - Beso de Nutella The pastries were decadent and flavorful. - Maui Cake It's a tres Leches cake with tropical- coconut pineapple frosting filled with pineapple chunks. It was my favorite. For drinks, I tried Iced Café De Olla. It was okay. I will come back to dine in and try something savory from their menu.
Visited from out of town because of the reviews and it was definitely worth it! I love all of the chilaquiles sauce options, but by far my most favorite thing was the Concha French Toast! I thought it would be sweetness overload but it was amazing!!! Looking forward to going back next time we visit!
I've been a regular here at Cafe De Olla and I will say that the food never misses! The only thing that maybe was a little disappointing was that the espresso shots in my husband's cafe de olla tasted a little burnt, but other than that it was great service and great food! The vampiros are a delicious appetizer to share. The peanut butter French toast is so good!!! It's super heavy though but definitely one of the better sweet options on the menu. It wasn't too busy for a Sunday mid afternoon. One thing I noticed is that we were able to join the waitlist virtually which was nice! We haven't been able to that before when we've come many times so that was cool. Cant wait to come back!
Didn't try any of their coffee drinks, just ordered brunch food to share with my friend. The Churro Waffle is PHENOMENAL, would order it again without a doubt! Crispy, deeply rich cinnamon goodness, not too sweet, but also would be fantastic as a dessert waffle. Chorizo Burrito - good but not great, I've had better tasting burritos. I feel like there was solid amount of chorizo, yet needed more hash brown for a more balanced burrito. The hot orange red salsa was a perfect spicy kick to add on top. Customer service was solid enough, our server was attentive with asking if we wanted small plates for sharing our dishes. Though, she never refilled our water glasses during our brunch visit. I get they were super busy for a Sunday, but still it doesn't take long to refill waters lol. Since we put our name and phone number down around noon on a Sunday, we waited almost an hour on the Yelp waitlist for a party of 2 (which despite us being quite hungry for brunch, the time flew by since we were chatting and chilling at the nearby park). FYI, their Yelp waitlist can get filled to capacity on Sundays and when it does, the restaurant will temporarily disable it. So like we had to, you will have to walk in and write your name on their Yelp waitlist instead of using the Yelp app to do this.
Caffe Olla is a wow from the moment you sit down. The breakfast hits all the right notes the sweet bread cart is a standout, and the scrambled eggs and fresh fruit were simple but perfectly done. Service was outstanding, warm and attentive without missing a beat. And the mascarpone latte? Absolute perfection rich, smooth, and worth coming back for on its own. A spot that makes a simple breakfast feel special.
Great place for a solid Mexican breakfast/brunch. I would highly recommend making reservations prior your visit; especially on a weekend since it gets pretty crowded. Yelp offers the join waitlist so you can save a spot for your visit The place is buzzing with people and waiters, pretty busy all around and not quiet. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados which consist of the red and green chilaquiles side by side. It comes with a hefty side of refried beans topped with cheese and some rice. The dish over all is delicious and more than enough food for me. I also ordered cafe de olla which is coffee with cinnamon and sugar and to be honest, it was TOO sweet for me. I ended up asking the waiter if he could pour me some solid black coffee to go with it and he was kind enough to bring me a cup of black coffee to pour it in myself. After doing that, the cafe de olla was just right! The place is clean, including the restrooms even in such a busy place. The food comes out fast and they're attentive ensuring you are satisfied with your order. They have a cart with Mexican bread (a la dim sum). Depending on the bread you get, it will be added to your bill. We didn't have any issues finding street parking which was free.
Absolutely loved Cafe De Olla in Monrovia! I got there right when it opened so there was no wait. The restaurant was cozy and the staff were so nice and attentive. There were alot of breakfast selections but we settled for Steak & Eggs and the Ham & Cheese Omelette, both came with a side (hashed brown, fries or fruit), and choice of toast. Food tasted amazing. Will definitely add this to my regular go-to spot for breakfast.
One of my favorite things is that they serve breakfast all day, so you can enjoy your favorite breakfast dishes anytime. The café de olla coffee is a must-try, and their new Azteca Matcha, Ube Matcha, and Mango Matcha are absolutely delicious
4.8 stars for Cafe De Olla! We came here on a Saturday around 11 for a brunch/lunch. This place is popular and the wait was about 60 min so definitely take advantage of the Yelp Waitlist and check-in ahead of time to minimize your wait. Our experience was delightful. Everything tasted amazing, from the chilaquiles with the perfect spice kick and crunch factor to the creamy cafe de Olla. Servers were very friendly and vibes were great here. We will be back soon!~
With their wide spectrum of Mexican & American dishes, Cafe de Olla is a cozy Mexican brunch spot in Old Town Monrovia that is sure to please many palates. There's a decent amount of seating within the restaurant, but definitely try to join the online waitlist if you are able to, as the queue can get quite long during peak hours. Throughout your meal, staff may come by with carts of pan dulce and tortas, like at dim sum places, which I found to be very unique at a brunch spot. I ordered their Azteca Chilaquiles, which comes with a red sauce over tortilla chips, eggs of your preferred style (I asked for over easy), refried beans, and rice, topped with cilantro/onions/queso fresco. For those that can't handle spice, the red sauce has quite the vibrant red hue, but I found it to be quite mild in heat. The ratio of sauce to chips was perfect for my liking, but make sure to eat your chips in a timely manner before they get soggy. I would suggest that the management replaces the clipboards with their current menus or revamps the structure of the menus entirely, as many of the clipboards at my table were broken and pages hanging only by one hole. The pages felt sticky and greasy, which was a bit off-putting for me.
January 2026 - Party of 2 on a Sunday around 1pm, 45 minutes wait. Food/Pricing - First time eating lunch here instead brunch food. The meat in the tacos were a bit dry and bland. The sauce had a nice kick and helped with the taste. Adding in the beans and rice into the tacos also made it less dry. Service/Ambiance - Service was prompt. A bit disappointed in my lunch choice but will likely be back for brunch. Parking - Plenty of street parking or public lots nearby.
Be prepared to wait for weekend brunch. I came here with two friends around noon on a Sunday, and we waited about an hour to be seated. It wasn't too bad since the restaurant is in the heart of Old Town Monrovia. You can walk around and browse the nearby shops while you wait, and the time cruises by. They'll send you a text when your table is ready. The front desk staff and waiters were friendly, and we were greeted with warm smiles from the start. I ordered the menudo and a Ferrero iced latte--both were excellent. The menudo was one of the cleanest I've had. The tripe was cut into bite-sized pieces, and the broth was clear, without any heavy residue from the spices. The latte was strong with the perfect level of sweetness. I also grabbed a vanilla concha to go for my daughter, and it was delicious. The inside had the perfect amount of fluff. I'll definitely be returning :)

Food was delicious and the service exquisite! Love the pan dulce cart! They make their own pan! I had the chile relleno with beans and substitute hash browns instead of rice. Didn't care much for the potatoes but the beans were delicious! Just like homemade! The sopes are made by hand and were perfectly cooked and easy to bite! Love the inspection wall too! The place is clean and vibrant with bright orange walls and beautiful pictures. Will have to come back for breakfast. read more
One of the popular spots in Monrovia to grab a bite to eat. There is usually a wait if you show up on any day. My experience the wait hasn't been that bad. I've come for breakfast and I've had no complaints. I would suggest to order a cafe de olla. Man I had like 3 cups last time I visited, and I'm not a coffee person. Lol. If you want some pan dulce there is a cart rolling around where you can pick from. The chilaquiles seem to be one of the popular plates here. Looking for breakfast in Monrovia? Cafe de Olla does not disappoint. My husband and I tried out the spot last week for a quick midweek breakfast. There really aren't many good spots in SGV for a sit down breakfast, mostly to go coffee shops with pastries so we are always down to discover something new. Cafe de Olla is right on the main street in old Monrovia on Myrtle near the library. The restaurant is excellent from the ambiance, the service, and the food! We tried out the nopales con huevos plate along with the berry crispy French toast with eggs and turkey sausage. Everything was well portioned and upper mid range price at about $18 per plate. They also come around with a cart of their fresh pan dulce (for purchase) which look delicious and have decent flavor. The French toast was amazing and everything tasted fresh, even the turkey sausage was surprisingly flavorful and our food came out within minutes. Hidden gem alert in Monrovia! We stopped by Café de Olla for breakfast and I'm so glad we did. This place gives you that warm, homemade feel, both in the food and the atmosphere. We ordered the Del Campo and Del Norte plates. Both came with chilaquiles, eggs, beans, and their own twist. Del Campo had chorizo and papas, and Del Norte came with flavorful beef fajitas. Portions were generous, everything was super tasty, and the chilaquiles hit that perfect balance of saucy and crispy. You can tell the food is made with love, like a good home cooked breakfast but elevated. The inside is cozy, clean, and cute decorated in a way that makes you feel like you're at someone's house (but in the best way). The service was great. The staff checked in on us often without hovering. One detail I thought was really sweet: when someone's celebrating a birthday, they play Las Mañanitas over the speakers and bring out a cute frame for the guest. Like the cafe de olla and choice of bread. Not a fan of the fried tamales however I think everything else on the plate was good so I'm sure the menu has yummy other options. Service was good as well. Another visit for the books, delicious birria, enchilada was amazing! We really loved how the cheese inside was grilled, it has a nice salty cheese crunch inside. The pozole was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and spices, and the portion size was fantastic with good portion of the meat. We also ordered the chilaquiles, and the rice on the side was incredibly tasty. The chips had the perfect crunch, not soggy at all, which made the dish even better. The service was great, even though it was extremely busy, so I definitely recommend checking in on Yelp first. The front of the place is a bakery, and inside you'll find more tables and seating. What can I say this place is amazing. Bryan was attentive and awesome. The food was out of this world as was the cafe de olla and the cookies and cream iced latte. Found this place by doing a Google search for restaurants as we were leaving the valley heading to Vegas. I had the veggie breakfast burrito which is absolutely delicious. Hubby had the hot links and eggs. We shared the berry waffle which was top 3 waffles I've had. The waffle itself had such a great flavor and the berries were super fresh and juicy. Glad to find out there is a location closer to us in Burbank we will be regulars. We will definitely make the location in Monrovia our go to place when we are heading out on a road trip. This place get busy quick. Be sure to check in. The service is fairly good. The staff are quick. There's a good amount of seating, especially for family-sized groups. I've been here a few times before. At first I got the generic American breakfast and it was fine. But that was my mistake. Definitely getting the Mexican food items is worth it. Today I got the mole enchiladas. At first I was apprehensive over the quantity of rice and beans. Usually you get tons of it at Mexican places. But it was actually the perfect portion. I was full and no need for leftovers. The food was delicious. The mole had a small amount of kick to it which made it flavorful. 10/10 Definitely a must try! This is by far one of my favorite spots to have breakfast / brunch. I come here pretty frequently and regardless of what I get, it never disappoints. My go to are the chilaquiles poblanos but everything is so delicious here. The churro waffle is amazing if you're looking for something sweet. The portion they give you is always worth what you're paying. On top of everything, the service is always so great. Starting from the host to the servers to the runners. First timer. Solo date. Walk in/Dine in. I decided to try this place out since I was in the area. At first I was going to get it to go however, I had some extra time on my hands so as I ordered I decide to enjoy my meal in their front/outdoor area.The workers here are great! It's my first time and I had a few questions and wasn't sure where to go or what to do and they helped me figure it all out so kindly without judgement. I ordered their 20oz. iced coffee & all in one burrito =$21.72 + tip =$25.66 After I sat down, I received my coffee in less than 5 minutes & my burrito in about 15 minutes after that. Not too bad of a wait. The coffee ... WOW! I felt like those commercial girls at the first sip when the air blows her hair away from her face; it's delicious ! 10/10 for sure ! The burrito ... is delicious ! I'm not a big fan of red salsa but it complimented the burritos very nicely! I even got to talk to some of the workers bussing & serving the tables and they're super nice ! I felt a sense of family in this place with each interaction I had, it was really nice! Food was decent. Customer service was good. The location is nice and quaint. I went during a weekday during non-peak hours only a very few customers besides me. Perhaps maybe one or two more parties. My only complaint about this place is that their tables and menus are not clean. This is my second time coming here and honestly I don't think it's worth my time to come and eat here. It's been 4 years since i first came in here, still great food and service!! I went here after fasting because I have to do bloomd work, and it's worth the fasting. I got the special omellette and cafe abuelita. Love it. Just a little bit more training on the aesthetic design of the coffee creamer. Over all, its a great breakfast. read more
Good food and the sweets looked amazing. Came on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. Regardless got seated right away and had a hard time not stopping at the front pastry cases when I walked in. I went with a combinacion Sinaloa which was deep fried tamales with chilaquiles, eggs and beans. Everything on the plate was kick ass. So much flavor in every bite. Definitely was mixing it all so I could get all the flavors in one bite. Only thing I didn't like was the price. A little expensive for breakfast mainly the Coke that was $5. Perfect place to come in for a cozy breakfast. Their hot chocolate is delicious and kid friendly temperature. I ordered chilaquiles divorciados with a side of carne asada. Delicious but I do think I'll be ordering just green chilaquiles with a side of carne asada. Green chilaquiles are . Love how they have staff coming around the tables to offer you their sweet pastries to enjoy with your coffee or hot chocolate while you wait for your food. Definitely come try! read more
