Drove out here today to be told they can't take orders through the window and that I have to use the app. So, I sat on the bench outside, downloaded the app, and found it to be too complicated and buggy to use. So I called from 10ft away to place my order. The girl on the phone seemed rude and annoyed that I wasn't using the app and eventually I asked if I was even allowed to make an order via the phone. Service was quick (~5 min) however was very disappointed with the portion size. I've been coming here for awhile now and I think that because they don't have customers hovering over them while they make food, they're largely skimping our on how much they put in the bowl. I really enjoyed this place! For an assembly line style food preparation I suppose it was not too bad. I hate watching people man handle my food, with all the germy faces of other patrons pressed up against the glass ordering ahead of me. BUT, the food was damn good. Not traditional poke, but they pretty much disclose that with the 'California Poke' name. Which means, add a bunch of whatever-the-hell-you-want on it until you take all the attention off of this great fish you are about to eat. I'm surprised they don't have sprinkles on the selection. I enjoyed my ahi tuna on rice with a plethora of veggies and spice, bathed in sauce. I'll add these guys to my list of go tos' when I visit the central valley all summer long. Based on the line out the door I would say just about everyone on the east side of Clovis likes this place too. read more

My friend is from the Bay and i was worried she wouldn't like this place but her combo turned out super yummy! She got the.... Yellowtail, salmon, and brown rice with the green chili sauce, cucumber, shaved snow peas, green onions, cilantro, slaw, and watercress and a little wasabi cream, nori, and fried garlic. I got the "California" so I didn't have to choose stuff =P It was not disappointing, and the portion size surprised me, it seemed bigger than what I had in the Fresno location. I was definitely full afterwards. Everything tasted fresh which is an absolute must with poke places! The music is on the louder side but not too loud to talk, and the place is clean with modern decor. Not impressed. This is the second time having poke bowl from here and it's the second time I have had food poisoning from their fish. I ordered yellowtail and tuna as proteins. Last time it was tuna. It didn't smell fishy but definitely didn't look fresh. I should have stopped eating immediately when I noticed it in the bowl last night, 10/16/2020. This can kill someone you guys. Not even joking! But this is the first and LAST time we go to this one, all they had to do was be a little more generous, but instead they left plenty of space, the large was more like the regular. Big waste of $$ . Your poke ('Base' is salad, white or brown rice/or a mix, and then add toppings such as pickled ginger, avocado, crunchy onions, spicy fresh pineapple, sprouts, etc) is made for YOUR desires and tastes. If one feels indecisive, one can get a 'named' yummy salad or try something. Restaurant workers can suggest something based upon your preferences. Thus far, I've never been disappointed in their suggestions. Service: Quick for the amount of people. Order at front counter to take to sit down. Decor: Modern, delighfully open, light and airy. Upon arriving, we were told that they only take orders through their app. No phone calls, no website, only the app. We sat there and downloaded the app (which was WAY too big for an app that just orders food from one restaurant), entered our order, and then SURPRISE you have to create an account. I had good experiences prior to tonight, but I can't give a good review after the terrible service I just received. I ordered our meal on the app and showed up at the window when it was ready. When I got in the car I realized the fries were missing. I went back to the window and got the response "oh I'll get those started right now". That's not a huge deal but why text me if the meal is not ready? Anyway, fast forward 20 minutes and the fries were finally ready. These fries were drenched in sauce and my order clearly stated no sauce. My son won't eat them with the sauce. I brought this to their attention and I got the impression that I was simply an inconvenience on the worker's night. Obviously I asked for a full refund. I love this place! The staff are amazing people who are always kind, quick, courteous, and customer centric in the approach to serving you. The food is fresh and the choices are amazing. If you haven't used it yet, try the app. The app makes ordering a breeze and when you're in a hurry the convenience of the walk up window adds to the reason I give this place 4 stars. The only reasons this isn't a five star review, in my opinion: 1. The dining area is too small. I get it and I bet no one expected it to ever be as packed as it is. 2. They sometimes run out of ingredients. 3. They do not have nutrition information for what they serve. For number 3. I can google the ingredients and figure it out but for a guy who counts everything I eat!the convenience of knowing the serving sizes, at a minimum would be great. I love this place! I come here all the time and everyone is always so friendly and sweet. I normally get a chinese chicken or a regular seared ahi bowl which fills me up. Every time I come here, I always see this tall girl who greets me when I walk in and she always has a big smile on her face while she dances around. I normally come in when it's really busy in the morning, so I know its hard to keep a smile being stressed out with hungry people, but she never disappoints me. I didn't catch her name but she has long brown hair, wears a lot of bracelets, and she's always dancing!! I almost wanna start dancing along with her. It's hard to find places where the atmosphere is fun and welcoming the way this place is. I will continue to come back for excellent bowls and great customer service. read more

I have never tried this place before and I would never go again. Customer service was the worst! I got the 3 scoop regular size bowl and I was disappointed. The first scoop of tuna the worker gave me literally had 2 pieces tuna in it. The 2nd bowl my boyfriend got, he was also skimped on his tuna/protein. We enjoyed our visit to Butterfish in Clovis. What a nice place to eat California poke! It was so special because my daughter took me to lunch today. This is our first time going to Butterfish in Clovis. We both had a poke bowl with rice, fresh vegetable choices and wonderful fish! There are some unique choices you can choose to eat. The menu, for example, has Tokyo fries and other unique selections. We want to try them next time. The restaurant is beautifully appointed. I appreciated sitting on the patio. It was a beautiful day! While we were eating, one of the chefs came to ask us how our food tasted. He noticed that we had a bowl that I was taking home for my husband. He suggested that I place my bowl in the refrigerator to keep it cool and pick it up when we were finished with our lunch. I thought this was a great example of the friendly and helpful service. The only downfall is that the bowl doesn't always come the same in terms of size and this is just based on who is making it for you. The food was ok, many toppings but one reason that I'm not satisfied here is the portion of 3 scoops of proteins too small. It just has some pieces of meat (steak or fish). I can count 3-4 pieces of each spoon. The bowl didn't make me full. In general, all staffs are nice, the line was fast, the food was ok. Went here for lunch after a graduation ceremony. Given that it's a new place, it appeared clean. There were a few customers sitting and eating and hardly anyone in line. It seems as soon as we were in line, people were starting to come in. As I observed, this place is stingy with their protein portions!!! After craving poke all week I was so excited to finally get my fix! Butterfish offers a vast variety of proteins that I haven't seen (including seared ahi + crab meat) in many other poke spots. The price is very affordable compared to Bay Area poke places - $12 for a large bowl of 5 choices of protein is unheard of. The sriracha ponzu sauce is my new favorite, just the right mixture of sweet/sour/spicy. The only thing I didn't like was the sushi rice since it was a bit on the chewy side. This is the second and last time I ever go here, The food is good, but nothing special that I cannot get elsewhere. What this review is about is the awful service. First off, there was 2 people in line when I was there, myself and my friend. The guys behind the counter seem to really upset that we were there, they were rude and literally demanding us to tell them what we wanted in a fashion as to hurry us through the non existent line. I finally had to tell the guy to close his mouth and let me read the menu and " I will be with you when I am ready to order". When I was ready to start building my bowl I counted 4 scoops when I paid for 5, and he shook the scoop. So I will be making a charge back for fraud with my credit card company, when you pay for 5 scoops it is to be 5 scoops and do not shake the scoop. There was probably less than 3 oz of fish which is unacceptable of a 12$ over priced bowl. The presentation was a mess, he threw everything in the bowl and then walked away. I do not know where you hire your staff but my recommendation is to fire them and get some people who want to be there and are respectful. read more
