We were doing lunch for our doctors office and staff and they asked for bowls from here and did so without hesitation...which is always promising when you get this level of consensus from so many people in one office. I decided on the House Special for my bowl and it was solid if unspectacular. I probably should have asked for a little less sauce but, to be honest, that may be just a personal preference or mine. I did come away impressed with their fun and interesting variety of signature bowls so I'll have to try more of these in the future. Their service was too notch. Tried this place for the first time recently and was super disappointed. The high school looking girl who helped seemed like she hated her job and was in a hurry to close or something. The meat portions were ridiculously small for me and my girlfriend both. Then she was rushing us to order and looked annoyed when I asked a few simple questions as far as options for the toppings, etc. Not sure if she was trained to skimp on customer portions or not but poke is not cheap and and I'd like to at least get what I paid for. That place needs to remind their employees to have some basic respect for their customers so that they have a positive experience and potentially be returning customers. No thanks and never again. Another update to my review. And this is it. I've gone here with the mentality of giving many chances but they time and time again mess up my order. Here is a little back backstory. I had just given birth after carrying about a week late. You know what was on my mind? Butterfish! I wanted butterfish! An honor right? So I have my brother go to get an order for myself and my husband. Very clearly written out that bowl A is to have x,y,& z and bowl B is to have x,y,&z. My brother gives the employee the list to read and they STILL MESS IT UP. I have ingredients from my husbands bowl and he has ingredients from mine. The sauce.... My constant issue with this location is the sauce. I did not order a soup bowl. I did not order a bowl of sauce with a side of white rice. No one wants to drink their poke bowl (if you do, then you might like this location). My bowl is so drenched with sauce that it is inedible. I sat in my postpartum room and cried because the one thing I wanted was a good dinner and what I received was far FAR from that. Let me also mention, that the staff is not the kindest of the bunch either. If you want good poki and excellent service, make the drive out to the location on Friant. They are much nicer, cleaner, and attentive when taking your order. If you are in the Clovis area, just go to poki land. read more

I feel bad for leaving a bad review but this place is getting worse and worse. I come to this location VERY frequently, sometimes I go 5 days a week. It's very far from where I live but out of all the Butterfish locations this is the only location that has regular Kimchi which I love. After reading all the bad reviews, I'll try to combine them all because I agree with them all. For the past 3-4 visits my husband and I are getting really fishy tasting salmon or tuna. Today was my last day and I won't be going back anymore to hopefully get a good bowl. Fresh fish shouldn't taste fishy, that's a sign that bacteria is growing. I've had many times where my food was absolutely delicious and I was SO satisfied. But for the past 2-3 months the food quality is just crappy. Other problems/complaints: - The music is so freaking loud. Why? Why does it need to be so loud. - I feel like I've seen all their employees, and out of all of them there are 2 amazing people who work there and I've ALWAYS gotten great service from them, there's a taller gentleman with bleach blonde hair and a young lady with long hair who sometimes puts flowers in her hair (didn't catch her name) but those 2 deserve a raise for probably being the only reason some people tolerate this location. The rest of the employees have so much attitude, daze out and stare while you're trying to give them your order, or just don't give a damn. Most of the employees are young and maybe don't understand customer service ‍ - This isn't a big deal, but the restrooms always get basic cleaning. It LOOKS clean for sure but I can't tell you how many times there's no soap in the restroom and the hand sanitizer is always empty. - Besides coming across old food multiple times (including the fried won tons and tempura crumbles- maybe they fried it way too long but crunchy food shouldn't be soggy and soft) MOST of their workers barely put any scoops. It's so frustrating because you're watching them make your food and nothing is a full scoop, it's like they dip it into the container and transfer to your bowl. One time I had to ask this kid for 2 extra scoops of protein with an extra charge just so I can get more than 2 pieces of meat. I'm done with this place and will not be returning. read more

This was probably the best poke and selection of ingredients that I've had! I was in Fresno on business and I wish I could frequent this place once a week because it was so good. There was a little bit of a line, but it was around lunch time. The staff was super friendly, I needed a receipt since I there was on business and they didn't offer it to me initially (verbally) maybe the POS system had an option. But when I brought it to their attention, they had no issue with printing one with their system a few minutes later. No other complaints, though. Awesome experience. I arrive at 11:50am & they tell me there are a few orders ahead of me & to wait. I got the regular w/ brown rice & wonton chips, 2 scoops of salmon & 1 of shrimp, sesame shoyu sauce, avocado, edamame, masago, seaweed salad & tempura crunches. The salmon was fresh and I liked the sauce cause it had a hint of lemon. I think they could improve on having a better selections of toppings and adding different fish. I found it very cool that they offer chicken though! The line moved fast and the workers were friendly. I would've liked to have a screen facing me at checkout though. First time having Butterfish in years, and I was pleasantly surprised! In the past I had bad experience finding hair in my food and the ingredients not tasting fresh (at the former Palm location) so I strayed away from eating this for awhile. Today I decided to stop by while on my way to work. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a gentleman who I know has been there for years, he may be a manager but he greeted everyone with a "Hey friend how are you today!" Making a good first impression. My bowl was assembled in less than a minute and it looked perfect. I got a regular size bowl which includes 3 scoops of protein. I got 2 scoops of shrimp and 1 scoop of crab (extra $2 charge) for my base I got sushi rice and wonton chips. I then added sweet ginger soy sauce which they mix in with the protein before adding it to the bowl. If you love sweet this is the sauce to reach for! You get the choice of 5 toppings. I added cucumber, spicy mandarin oranges, edamame, cashews, and avocado (extra $1 I believe) and then I topped it off with spicy Mayo. The ingredients taste very fresh and I will be back! It's ok. Not the best poki place I've been to. I got the sushi rice, and they put so much rice in the bowl! Therefore very little proteins. I'm a yellow tail lovers and wanted to get it with my bowl but my husband, a sushi chef, recommended me not to get it because the fish looks really old. So, i ended up getting sear tuna, salmon, and real crabs. The proteins was bland so it didn't add much flavors to the poki bowl even though i did request for extra sauce. I got their thai chili sauce, which is the spiciest one she mentioned, but it wasn't spicy at all so i was kinda disappointed. The avocado was more like guacamole. I'm here every so often but they're all great here! I'm usually pretty quiet when ordering but having everyone be so friendly makes things not only a little more fun but easier for me to talk. I have a hard time deciding on things as well because I'm not very picky so hearing their recommendations helps a ton too. I see a lot of the same faces as well since I'm here so much and I particularly remember this taller girl being really nice and helpful. I ordered a large bowl and they gave me 3 proteins so I'm like okay whatever I was just misheard. But I was charged for a large and have to wait 3-5 days for a refund adjustment. Butterfish is my default order-out restaurant when we simply don't have the desire to cook. Your meal can be minimal and healthy or you can throw as much mayo sauce and over indulge on toppings as you want! Step 1: pick your base. Greens, noodles, white/brown rice. It's all good. Step 2: 3 protein selections for a regular bowl or 5 protein selections for a large bowl. I'm a big fan of their real crab meat and tuna. Then choose a sauce to mix it in. I go for the spicy ponzu. Step 3: your toppings! Go balls to the wall. Some of my favorites are the curried cauliflower, kimchi, and wakame salad. Don't forget, avo is extra - of course. Step 4: finish your bowl off with a dabble or mountain of sauce. I like their house dressing. It addition to their bowls, they also offer appetizers. Just beware, it's definitely a shareable portion.
