Cheese Pizza
Tee C.

One of the better NY style pizzeria in Fresno. Been looking for a place like this for a bit. Pizza was thin and crispy with big slices. Ordered a cheese pizza and a Italian Works pizza. Both were amazing. Inside had some decent seating but slightly small especially during their busy hours. We took ours to go but I do suggest eating there as the pizza stays fresh and crispy. Overall, I recommend this place if you are looking for a NY style pizza in Fresno.

We were craving Italian food. Russo's was inviting; our service was friendly and playful, it is clean, fun vibe, good music. Our food was delicious. Definitely give it a try!

Tbh, I wasn't expecting to like this place. Italian food at a fast food type environment ? I agreed to give it a try, but had very low expectations. When you walk in , you are immediately hit upside the head by the smell of pizza and garlic, The menu is quite extensive, and it all sounds really good. For lunch, I opted for the Chef's special which was a braised beef ravioli dish. While the flavor was on point, the amount of raviolis were absurd considering the 24.00 price point. My dish came with about 8 raviolis - not enough of a portion for a chubby Sicilian like me, My better half had the half meatball and salad combo, I managed to sneak a bite of the meatball sub and was impressed. The meatballs had a ton of flavor and the bread itself was soft yet sturdy enough to hold up, However, the best part of our meal was the garlic knots. 5 out 5 on the knots! So damn good! 4 out of 5 on my dining experience. I am looking forward to trying more of their menu.

Warning: Don't order thru Yelp. GrubHub up charges you even if you pick it up yourself simply for using their system to online order. Not a reflection of Russo's; just a slam at GrubHub. What a ripoff! Let me preface this by saying I'm a native NYer who is VERY VERY VERY picky about pizza. I hated pizza in the DC area when I lived there & there's only 1 acceptable pizza place in the Bay Area. So, when I tell you this pizza is actually good here, I mean it. Ambience is very good. Like a good east coast Italian pizzeria restaurant. Service was great. Spoke w/owner. Clear pride in product of this small chain restaurant. The standard cheese pizza is really good. Great crust, cheese & sauce...the basics of good pizza tho many get it wrong. This basic pizza is the benchmark. If they can't razzledazzle you with this, they have no business in the business. Anyone can slap countless toppings on a pizza. Takes solid dough & sauce recipes to make a good pizza. Not a fan of the Paesano Square. TBH, it was an outright disappointment. I was hoping it'd be like a Sicilian pie, but it was way closer to Detroit style. Also not a fan of sauceless pizza either which I should've thought about before ordering. Italian Market was good albeit a bit too greasy for me. Good flavor tho. This is my new go-to spot for pizza here in Fresno. Must try!

Ok, I'm going to make it quick and to the point. 18 bucks for two slices of cheese pizza - that is absolutely ridiculous! That being said the pizza has a good taste and you can tell they use fresh ingredients, but the slice was exceptionally floppy. Would be ten times better with more crunch. It's nice inside.

Wow! The food here is amazing and the service is fast and friendly. We ordered mozzarella frites, a chicken parm sandwich, and their classic stromboli. I can't get over how delicious everything was, with the entire family truly loving the mozzarella frites. These are massive mozzarella sticks coated in seasoned batter and lightly fried. These are pricey, but you get eight massive sticks per order. The chicken parm sando and the Stromboli are a for sure reorder. The bread used for the sandwich was toasted, but still super soft. The crunchiness of the bread paired with the sauced and juicy chicken parm was a texture filled flavor bomb! If you love garlic bread loaded with veggies, meats and cheeses; then order a Stromboli. You're welcome! We ordered our food to go, but they do have a small dining area with tables and small booths. Our food was still piping hot when we got it home and the portions are so big we had leftovers for the next day!

I found this pizza spot through Yelp so decided to make a drive out there, and I'm so glad it did the pizza is so delicious! I tried the doppio pizza along with the pepperoni so so good and full of flavor I also ordered a side of mozzarella sticks and garlic knots they were also good. The owner is beyond nice he found out we made the drive out there from Bakersfield and he gave us two slices of carrot cake which was also amazing, he was also kind enough to let us taste the pesto and omg one of the best pestos I've tried.

A solid 3.5! First off if it was just the service it would be a 5. The staff are super friendly, attentive, and well versed in their menu. They seem to really enjoy working with each other and makes for great atmosphere. They also know almost everyone that comes by; they definitely have regulars. The food is good. Pasta is good. Sauces are made in house. For the price tag thats a bit on the more expensive side for pasta, they portion size was huge. Enough for leftovers the next day. The pizza is good. Definitely the way a new york style pizza looks but the crust is definitely a bit over cooked/hard so folding the pizza is more difficult. Sauce tasted fine but nothing unique. A good pizza but a slice of pizza from new york; it doesnt compare.

Nice layout...

While the service was excellent, the staff helpful and friendly, the food just didn't do it for me. I ordered the 16 inch Hawaiian with extra sauce and the cucumber salad. While both presented beautifully, each had a couple issues. The salad looks super impressive in the pictures, but it's essentially just vegetables, a few olives, some cucumbers with olive oil dump on top. There were not enough olives and it totally lacked flavor.... A splash of balsamic definitely would've helped, but there were also too few olives. And while I don't particularly go for super salty food... the olives even lacked the note. Often the play of the natural cucumbers constrast with the salt of the olives adding a nice flavor. It's missing here and the salad simple lacks flavor. Would have liked some spices or something more unique. The Hawaiian style pizza was fairly average. The sauce did not have any type of robust quality and was pretty basic. How about using MORE garlic? The ham was so paper thin that it tasted like rice paper. Can hardly even taste it! And, as a result, it offers no contrast! The pineapple was not sweet whatsoever and so was kind of a nothing texture thing... the crust was pretty basic as well. I have lived back east and the claim to be in 'New York-like' is pretty tall. Perhaps so tall that NONE should make it! Also, the lightest of the TOO DANG light dusting of oregano or whatever they shake on it was so very little. Why bother? Would LOVE to have some more pronounced notes here. The pizza was $27 and the cucumber salad was 14 for the large size. The description of the pizza said Canadian bacon. Whoever has had a piece of paper, rice paper thin Canadian bacon? It's a total fabrication! Sure, if by that they mean a thin crust ... even Domino's has that. I was surprised, since I told them I was eating in house, that they didn't bring me the salad while I was waiting after 10 minutes. Pecs were hangry and I had to get up and ask for it while I was waiting. I'm sure the toppings are quality, but they certainly lacked flavor. The olives lacked savoriness, the ham was rice paper thin and the pineapple had no sweet notes whatsoever. Who won the world ever had a piece of Canadian bacon that was paper thin?? How are those even possible? How are vegetables soaking in oil a salad? How can spices and flavors be missing? Even a spritz of an orange or a lemon would've been helpful on the salad. I hope the rest of the food isn't as bland/basic. I'm looking to be captivated upon the first bite with much more flavorful experiences. My Hawaiian pizza itch that I felt today did not get burned. Boo! -G

Best pizza ever!! The cheese and vodka sauce in this pizza was delicious! Service was great and good spoke for itself!

Baked Ziti with Side Meatball (One)
Marvin S.

We decided to have lunch here, seating is a bit limited since the venue is a little small. The inside is nice and artistic. Menu had a good selection of Italian items. We got the lemon pepper chicken wings (breaded) which were really good. We also order a Baked Ziti with meatballs. The pasta was a bit under cooked but very flavorful sauce. We ordered a medium pizza NY Classic style with pepperoni, mushrooms and crumble sausage. The pizza was thin crust which I liked and the sauce was okay not much flavor to it but they had other selections for sauces. The service was fine, there was a female server who was very tentative of us and also checked up on us to see how the food was. Overall the experience was fine. The price for the 3 items and 2 drinks plus tip came out to $100. The rate was based on food quality and cost. We will be returning to try more of the pastas to experience the different sauces.

Hands down my favorite pizza place in Fresno. Everything here was delicious and, although small, it has a nice interior that goes great with the visible oven you see. Service was amazing since they recommended pizzas and pastas that suited our tastes. Highly recommend trying it out!

Miranda S.

After a long day of work my husband and I wanted a pizza . Ordered a medium which is normal for 2 people. We were both very disappointed to find an extremely small & thin pizza for $28 . Looks exactly like a blaze size pizza . Maybe the other items are better but price for a tiny pizza is ridiculous.

There have been a couple times when they've been a little stingy with the toppings, but it's still so delicious, so I can't deduct a star for that. In my opinion, it almost falls under a Detroit-style pizza...not too thin or thick, but the dough has just enough pillow to it. *Bonus - during Christmas time, they go all out with some kooky decorations in their tiny space and it brings a smile.

The waiter was super attentive and efficient the entire evening. We went for dinner, so the restaurant was definitely dimly lit, which I think is the atmosphere they're going for. The menu uses Italian names for many of the dishes, so I wasn't immediately sure what everything was, but once we figured it out, everything we ordered was delicious. The angel hair pasta was simple but absolutely perfect. We also had cheesecake for dessert, and it was fantastic. I also appreciated that they had a kid's menu, plus mini pizza options for kids. My five-year-old only made it through a couple slices because the portions were generous. Definitely come hungry, and don't be surprised if you leave with a doggy bag because the portions are big.
