My husband brought me here for a bite. Said he hadn't been here in over 20 years. When we came there were 2 people at the end of the bar that were extremely intoxicated & singing loudly along with the music playing. Very obnoxious. After they left, it was a better environment. When I moved to Downtown Fresno in 2021, DiCicco's was the go to place for Friday pizza night. I'm sad to say that my last 3 experiences have not been great at all. The pizza's have not been cooked all the way, not even hot a couple of times. The quality has gone completely downhill, some areas of the pizza are just crust, no sauce, no toppings, nothing. My last visit there, the restaurant was completely empty at 5pm. I'm beginning to see why. I will not be spending another penny at this establishment. read more

Decided to give them another try. They said 45 minutes for delivery: took 1 hour 15 minutes and they delivered the wrong food and charged us for incorrect order. Came here for lunch with the coworkers and as we got seated, took the waitress a couple minutes to come take our drink orders. After coming back to the table to give us our waters, the waitress left. As we were waiting for her to return, we notice she was helping the table behind us that arrive mins after us by bringing out their drinks without taking their drink orders along with the basket of bread and automatically ignored our tables and started taking their food orders as if our table was not ready. My coworkers and I were confused because they came after us, but by the way how the waitress spoke with the customers and the orders were being taken, I'm sure they're returning customers. After she was done taking their orders we told her we were ready and she gave us a dirty look and just said "uh I'll be back to take your orders and bring you your basket of bread". My service dog and I went inside to order this restaurant on December 20th 2024 at approximately 4 pm to order a take out order of Scarface and cheese bread. When I went in they were cordial and took my order right away and I went outside to wait when we went in they stated that dogs were not allowed my dog is a service dog that is clearly labeled on her harness. They then were rude and told me to wait on the wood bench. So after an additional 10 minutes or so we took the order home. The Scarface was tasty but the cheese bread was 2 slices of sourdough sandwich bread toasted with a little burnt with a slice of cheese layed on it. No good my niece who is 5 could prepare that and at 8 dollars it's almost criminal. I will never go back. read more

Chicken parmigiana hits the spot every time. The neighborhood is a little rough, but the food is worth the drive down there.

Favorites: Scarface (modified), pizza, meatballs. Scarface with a pesto cream sauce (instead of just cream sauce), and I also add sausage for a couple bucks. Always delicious and it's literally two meals. Pizza is a thinner crust with great flavor. Instead of a side of ranch, I get a side of their marinara sauce for dipping, which is absolutely amazing! The sauce is where it's at. The small size is also very generous - can easily feed two people. Another great option is their meatballs and peppers entree. It never fails! Best meatballs in town. Smothered in cheese takes it to another level! Finally, who doesn't love the bread they give you with every meal? This bread is addicting and they always include generous portions in their to-go bags. FYI I've been coming to this location for years, despite some bad customer service experiences, which is why I ding it by a star. I don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review. I've been enjoying the food here since the 1970s (I think my family may actually have sold them the location back in the 50s--don't hold me to that; I'm going by a really old memory from when I was a kid). I'll start with the bread--always the best: Delightfully fresh, soft and chewy rather than crunchy. My bad teeth appreciate that. The food? Let's start with the salad. I can't do better than quote another review: "The salad always amuses me. It's a bowl of iceburg lettuce with 1/2 of a slice of salami on top, one small cube of cheese, and one olive. Large servings though, so if you are hungry, this is a good choice." Basically true, lol, but filling. The best, of course, is the main fare. This place has been around almost 70 years and there's a reason. Their Italian food is the best in town. (I seem to recall rumors there were some really interesting people who'd come all the way to Fresno just for the food...) Frequently imitated. Never duplicated even by some other DiCiccos. My favorites? Manicotti. Baked lasagna. The Scarface (love them 'shrooms). The ravioli is on the basic side but I can't think of anyone's ravioli that excites me. One fantastic side I always enjoyed--that can fill you up on its own: The garlic cheese bread. Yummy! Really all you need sometimes! The pizza? It's ok but traditional and not as stand-out compared to some more modern eateries, perhaps, but I focus on the main dishes rather than pizza. I've certainly had it many times just the same. Never tried a steak but I've seen it walk by and it looks good. If you've never tried the original but know the other locations, give the original a try to see where it all began. read more

What else is there to say about this particular DiCicco's except it is an amazing place to eat. My wife and have eaten here twice and it's been amazing both times. We were up in the air about what to eat and DiCicco's just sounded good. Now we live in Hanford so driving to DiCicco's in Fresno isn't just around the corner. But driving to another town for great food is something we do often. This particular location is the original DiCicco's just north of downtown Fresno. It looks old world as you walk up to the restaurant. When you walk in it's like you're in a Goodfellas movie. It's like a time warp. Hate to keep using the term old world. But it's pretty dated. Which I love. We have always been warmly greeted and seated promptly. The menu selection is just amazing. I'm huge on lasagna. But this time I wanted something different. I had to think outside the box. So I went with the chicken florentine dinner with rigatoni pasta and meat sauce. It's kinda hilarious because I had just watched a Bronx Tale earlier in the day. So I had visions of mobsters eating Italian food. LOL. My wife had the chicken alfredo special. Both meals come with a great salad and of course they give you warm Italian bread with butter. The food arrived pretty fast and I was in heaven. Bcz that chicken florentine was amazing. With the spinach and cheese. Plus the rigatoni was just amazing! The dish my wife had was equally as good.
