First time visit for my birthday! The hostess didn't greet us and another customer had quickly cut us off. I was a bit annoyed about that. We were seated after. Such a very dark place! We were seated in a tight corner area. The food was good. I ordered the rigatoni. As a birthday treat I ordered the affogato. The coffee was so strong ( I'm not an espresso person haha). The pizza was crisp to perfection. The arancini was amazing. Never had it before but would order it again and again.

Honestly my first time here my honey brought us here for dinner. It's was a beautiful view from the outside and a full house. We had reservations so we walked right in and sat down So this is recommended cause I heard they get really busy, so I recommend reservations. This is a place for the whole family. It's a must try !

Food: really good appetizer, arancini. The bistecca was tasty but had some parts where it was overly salty and fatty.. I don't think it's really worth $140 but good to experience and feeds 2-3 for sure. The firecracker cocktail was delicious. Crispy potato and broccolini sides were really good also! Service: excellent. Ariana was very attentive and sweet. Ambiance: a little loud and lively. A little dark for dinner. A candle in the middle would have been perfect! I think it's better for a group of four as the two person tables are very small and so close to each other you can hear the other tables conversation easily.

The Annex Kitchen was a pleasant experience. They serve an array of Italian inspired dishes and their homemade pastas are probably the best around the area. Service was friendly and prompt and the restaurant itself had a nice ambiance. Overall a solid choice for a special occasion or even a romantic evening for 2. Went in on Valentine's Day so it was busy but wait was not long at all! Staff were so accommodating and very nice. Food did not take long and was so delicious! We sat at the pizza counter and it was cool to watch the make pizza not to mention so much warmer near the pizza oven which is great because I am ALWAYS cold ! Ordered the Fusili, tagliolini, steamed mussels and mixed mushroom pizza . All so good and flavorful!

It breaks my heart to not give this place a 5 star review every time I've been here it's been amazing. However, I learned my lesson to ONLY buy pasta here. Decided to switch it up and buy the ribeye. I just assumed because it was pricy and because I LOVE the pasta that this would be delicious. Breh, it was so.... Weird. The ribeye I had cooked to medium rare. Maybe it was cooked more because it was thin? But also the rub was kind of sweet. Maybe it said that in the menu? But I honestly just saw ribeye and ordered it. I didn't bother to ask what rub or seasonings by they used. It is probably the worst ribeye I've had that I can remember. I've cooked better ribeyes from Costco. Now the muscles were amazing. A 5/5. I ate that whole appy plate. That would taste amazing over pasta. So, if you go here, do not order the ribeye or any kind of meat. They specialize in pasta and pizza and I would stick to that. They also do bone marrow appy which they don't do on the weekend sadly ugh.

Arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, and we were told it was a 1.5 hour wait. Right before we were about to leave, the front staff offered to sit us at a table reserved for 8:00 p.m. if we were able to finish dinner before that reserved slot. We definitely took the table! Ordered the homemade lasagna, which is only available on Wednesdays (at least that's what was mentioned by staff; menu changes daily). It was probably the best lasagna I've had. Would definitely order it again! The restaurant also has an vegan menu if you have someone in your party that is vegan. The restaurant ambiance is lively (it may be difficult to hear if you're trying to have a conversation) and the decor is really nice. Overall, I would love to visit again. The food was super delicious!

This is really good Italian food. We came on a Tuesday without a reservation around 5 minutes before they opened and they sat us at the bar lol. So yes, make a reservation!! The quality of the food is good and the flavors are definitely unique. I love the dark rustic look that this place has to offer. It does feel small and it will get loud which makes the environment kind of stuffy at times. I wouldn't say that this is the best, but more of a been there done that. I prefer Anessos open concept and love the outdoor seating they have to offer. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Can't say I would go back, but definitely will still support their other establishments that they have! If you guys want a cute, upscale Italian dinner this place is for you

The annex kitchen has never let me down. One of the greatest restaurants in Fresno. We came in for a late dinner at 8:00 pm on a Saturday night and got seated right away. Service was quick and the server knew a lot about the menu. My group and I split truffle fries which were delicious and I tried that bucatini for the first time. It was divine. It had the perfect amount of kick to it and the thickness of the noodles was fantastic! I usually get the fusilli which is 10/10 but I think I found my new favorite!

Made a reservation but ended up coming an hour earlier and they were able to seat us despite the dining room being very busy on a Saturday evening. The place was lively, definitely seems like a go-to spot for many. We ordered the pepperoni and carbonara pizzas, fusilli and bucatini pastas, and a medium ribeye. The carbonara pizza was okay but the pepperoni was good. Both pastas were also delicious, and the ribeye was cooked well. I also got a cocktail--forgot the name but it was refreshing and strong! I'd come back to take friends or family visiting or for a casual date night.

It's best to make a reservation - we were seated along the bar but we got such excellent service from Andrew. Our cocktails were excellent and our food was amazing. 10/10 The Pizza was cooked to perfection and super yummy. We'll be back!

The arancini and kale salad are the perfect combo! Pizza and house made pastas are delicious as well :) service is always excellent here

One of my fav places for a nice night out in Fresno. Amazing and friendly service. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu for the most part. The pizzas are incredible. The Fresno state sweet corn pasta is a seasonal staple! Must try when it's on the menu.

Ask the Community - The Annex Kitchen

Are they open on Christmas Eve and do they take reservations for that night?

Can this place accommodate large parties? (20 people)

Yes but you have to make a reservation

Is bar full service, can I order food?

E Yes, as far as I know. If in doubt, call the restaurant.

    Do you have delivery?

I don't think they have delivery but you can order online and pick up your food without having to sit down and dine in.

Is this honestly a restaurant for small children? (2.5 year old)

I would say not really, but I am sure they would accommodate you if desired. It is loud, busy, and high end.

Do they take walk-ins for waiting, or are they exclusively reservation-based?

It seemed they take walk in for waiting, but don't know how long the wait would be, esp. a bigger crowd.

Hi, does this restaurant still offer outdoor dining?

No, they moved back to all indoors

Do they take walk ins or is it reservation only right now?

    Reservations recommended.

    What's the corkage fee?

    $25

Is the restaurant still open to outdoor dinning or just take out after this new shut down?

    Outdoor patio & indoor

Do they have heaters for the outdoor dining?

    Yes they do.

    What time is happy hour?

No U are lucky to get any type of a reservation at anytime. No such thing as happy hour

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes! My server was very knowledgeable about the menu and told me what I could and couldn't have. Be sure to ask your server.

We are thinking of making reservations for a family birthday. We have 2 kiddos, ages 6 & 8. Will we be able to order off menu for them? Perhaps something like just a cheese or pepperoni pizza, or just simple spaghetti?

Yes you will! They have pizzas there (which are also really good). You can look at their menu on their website.

    What is your corkage fee?

    $25

How vegan friendly are they and what types of vegan options do they have?

I am a Lacto oval vegetarian. And I have found a few good things to eat there. They're not real vegan. I love the corn pasta. Truffle fries are wonderful also.

Do they offer take out to go?

Yes!!! That's how I tried them. Even despite the driving back home to eat the food, it was still AMAZING!

    Any gluten free options?

Yes! They have a whole separate gluten free menu. If you look under photos, I took a picture of the menu in Feb of this year. Not sure if it's changed much.

Do i need a rsvp for a large group for drinks and apps? Group size +\- 10

    Yes!

We also enjoyed the Petite Charcuterie board, which was a great selection for a small group. That said, our server Esteban really made the experience. He was super chill, friendly, and attentive. He gave great suggestions and made sure our group was taken care of throughout the night. He has such fun energy and really made sure we had a great time as well. Overall, a very nice place for a birthday gathering, and Esteban's service definitely stood out. I'd come back again to try more of their wines!

The setup itself is just weird; you have to stand outside and wait for someone to come out to seat you. When you go inside, its small and has kind of a "bar meets saddam hussein's palace" kind of vibe, there is gold everywhere in here. Not to mention its a bar that has been converted into a restaurant, its separated by the check-in desk by drapery. One good point is that all of the staff is very friendly and attentive, although I think our waitress had to cover every table in the place, which seems kind of not great for her! We started with some drinks, they were both good, no complaints there. After they came we ordered our food, we ordered them one at a time. First up was the bacon wrapped dates. These were pretty good, the bacon was cooked well and had some good crisp, it paired well with the dates and cheese inside. The walnut was kind of weird and my wife and I both thought for a second the date pit hadn't been removed. Next we got the corn empanadas, these were disappointing but not awful. The dough was cooked fine but it has absolutely no flavor, like nothing at all. The filling was also cooked ok, the corn had good texture, but similarly, had no flavor, about the only thing I could tint was a tiny bit of cilantro. Once you dip it in the sauce that comes with it, things improve, but we both felt the empanadas should be able to stand on their own. The last tapas item we got was the costillas al ajillo, these were both disappointing AND awful. They are advertised as "fall off the bone fried rib tips, garlic infused olive oil, crisp garlic chips" The only thing crispy about this was the meat itself, it was incredibly dry and had no flavor. There was a little bit of olive oil and some minced garlic, but not "crispy garlic chips". Credit where credits due they took if off the bill, but it was just incredibly bad. We finished with the chocolate flan which was quite good, no complaints there. All in all it was disappointing and I don't know that we would come back.
