It is beautiful, relaxing, and the food we had was great. I had a Macha Classic beverage first, very earthy and enjoyable! Then tried a classic chives! Perfect for my tats'. I also enjoy a veggie fertata that just the right size for a light breakfast. My daughter enjoyed a Somore's latte and everything bagel! Very right on point, for a light breakfast! We loved Dosan It was nice to hear our own conversation and not have to yell over a crowd. Our server Mark was super friendly and attentive. The food has unique and delicious home made sauces, the fire shrimp was cooked just right. Caesar salad was crisp and fresh. Definitely would return to this spot! This was our first time at Dosan, and heard they were moving from a buffet restaurant (we hadn't tried) and pivoting to a more upscale format. Overall, it was good, yet in our humble opinion, the sauces need some serious tweaking. Presentation of all the food was very good. We ordered two appetizers to start. One was a posted special of steak bites, and the other was a menu item Boule Stuffed Bread. For the bread, think of a buttery garlic paste maybe injected into the center of a large roll of bread. It's certainly a different way of preparing it, and it worked for us. We really liked it. The steak bites were a split decision between us. My wife didn't like them, I did, with a caveat. I was impressed when asked how we wanted them, medium rare, of course. There were 10-12 bites of steak, presented nicely with a dipping sauce in the middle. The bites were cooked as requested, and I thought tasted good. The sauce needs some help. I dipped about a third of my bites. The sauce had a very strong sense of Worcestershire sauce. I grew up with parents who used Worcestershire sauce on steaks and hamburgers, so it was a bit of a reminiscent journey for me. On the other hand, it's probably not a sauce appropriate for a kitchen pivoting to be upscale. My wife ordered the grilled salmon. Instead of the rice posted online menu, it was served on a large bed of garlic pasta. That change in itself is nothing to be concerned about. The salmon was delicious! It was a good size serving, and well prepared. The garlic pasta needs its sauce refreshed. We are garlic people. Love it. But the garlic on the pasta was so overpowering it took away from the pasta far more than it gave. My wife saved the pasta to take home, where she tamed it down a bit to serve with a home dinner later. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye steak. It was served with a sweetcorn & hash, chili risoto and charred chamoy glazed vegetables. The risotto was good, not phenomenal. It might be because I've never had risotto with those ingredients before. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, it just was a new experience for me. The glazed vegetables were another new experience. At a lot of restaurants, they serve roasted/grilled mixed vegetables--and served pretty much the same, butter and garlic. I applaud Dosan for going with a different route. Again, I wasn't overwhelmed, but I also enjoyed it. The steak is a personal preference thing. I love a great steak, and a 14 ounce ribeye is something I needed to try. Steaks of that weight can be thick with a smaller diameter, or thin and larger. My preference is thick. Dosan's style is thin and large. When it came out, I was worried about how it was cooked and the taste. It was prepared perfectly to my medium rare request, and seasoned perfectly for me. I really enjoyed it. I asked them to pair a glass of Cabernet with it, and received a wonderful Mondavi that was a great compliment to it. Thanks to the steak bites appetizer, I wasn't able to finish the ribeye, so I took about half of it home for a future steak sandwich. We skipped dessert because we were full. This was the first time in the building, regardless of prior owners/operations here. We have a group of a dozen friends who we go out to dinner once a month. We're always looking for a new place to try. It's our turn to pick next month, so this was a test run. The layout looks great for our needs as they have areas that could easily accommodate us. The service staff were great too. Yet, because of the sauces, we're hesitant to bring the group here just yet. We're hoping that as Dosan's continues its pivot to fine dining and the sauces get worked out. When it's our turn to pick a place next time, we'll test here again, but that will be in about a year. Hopefully they are still in business and have completed their pivot. I want to see them succeed. For now, I'd encourage you to try this place and decide on your own. We saw other dishes being served, including sandwiches, that looked really good. read more

I was lucky enough to be offered a buy one get one free entree. I wanted to take someone but ended up going alone. The restaurant is so cute inside and rid well maintained and cleaned. The service was amazing while I was here and the chef (Mona I think she said) even came out and talked with me. I got the Alfredo which was so thick and cheesy And I got the stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The only thing is I would have loved a gravy with this but everything was so flavorful and yummy. I will for sure come back especially since they said the patio is dog friendly. read more

I recently had the chance to visit Dosan, and I really enjoyed my experience! I actually hadn't heard of this place until recently, so it was interesting learning that it originally opened as more of a buffet-style restaurant before transitioning to its current concept. I personally think the change really fits the space and the aesthetic. It feels a little more elevated while still being approachable for a casual lunch, dinner, date night, or group gathering. I ordered the Tropical Ceviche, the Strawberry Blush cocktail, and the Cinnamon Apple Bliss dessert. The ceviche was a little different from what I'm personally used to--it had a lighter, more refreshing flavor profile instead of the bolder citrus flavors I typically gravitate toward. If that's your style of ceviche, I think you'll really enjoy it. The Strawberry Blush was my favorite drink of the night. It was refreshing, lightly sweet, and not overly strong, which is exactly how I like my cocktails. The Cinnamon Apple Bliss dessert was another favorite. It reminded me of a lighter, flakier apple pie that wasn't overly sweet, and I would absolutely order it again. What stood out most to me was the hospitality. The owner, Junior, and his son were incredibly friendly and made a point to check in throughout the evening. I appreciated that they genuinely wanted feedback and were asking guests what they liked and what they could continue improving. You can tell they're passionate about creating a great experience. The restaurant has plenty of parking since it's in a large shopping center, it's easy to find, and it had a nice relaxed atmosphere when we visited during the afternoon. They also have a private event space, and I think this would be a great place for company events, birthdays, celebrations, or larger gatherings. I could definitely see myself coming back with a bigger group, especially if they continue hosting fun community events. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience. The food was fresh, the prices felt very reasonable, and the welcoming hospitality made the visit even better. I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner next time! read more

They had a buffet here which was really good. Last time I had their tri tip sandwich with french fries, and ketchup. I thought it was really good. Their design of the restaurant is nice. I came here for the first time during lunch and was sad to hear they recently got rid of their salad bar. I mourn Sweet Tomatoes regularly because where can you find a good salad bar these days? We were told they discontinued the buffet because they weren't getting enough business to sustain it and had to throw away a lot of food. The inside is beautifully decorated, but it was empty when we arrived at 1pm on a Saturday so it felt a little weird. A few more groups did come in after us though so we weren't completely alone. One party left upon hearing there was no salad bar. There was only one worker acting as host, waiter and busser, which I assume is due to lack of business. It took us an hour to get our entrees due to the added wait time of only one worker taking orders. His handheld machine used to taking orders also stopped working halfway through and he had to write done the rest of the orders. Then he came back and found out none of the digital orders went through and had to retake half of our orders. He told us they hired a new chef from out of town and are putting the finishing touches on a new menu with a grand opening soon. This building has been home to several different restaurants over the years and despite what I think is a good location, I fear it could be cursed. The food was good and I enjoyed my meal. I hope their future plans work out and they are able to stay open. read more

This place is excellent. It used to be buffet style but Manny was telling us they recently switched to menus. I had the pan fried cod & charred vegetables. I've been eating cod since the 70s & who knew cod could be so good. It was a quality piece of fish & had a slight sear on the bottom but it was the chamoy sauce that brought it home. When combined, the cod, grape tomatoes, & basmati rice were incredibly flavorful & fresh. They have a full bar at one end & a patio at the other. It is deceptively large on the inside. Low back chairs & lacquered wooden tables subvert your expectations. This place has the best City Punch ( read, water) this side of Tampa. Smooth Sade-inspired music also helps to get you in the mood for good company & even better food. Our waiter, Manny, was great is his suggestions & in telling us how this family business was doing. Giving Dosan a 3-stars because the space itself is honestly beautiful. The outside is what first caught our attention, and the inside is just as nice--very clean, stylish, and it definitely looks like it should be a popular spot. But every time we drive by, there's barely anyone there, and after visiting, I understand why. They really need better marketing and more of a clear identity. We didn't even know what kind of food they served until we walked in. It feels like they're trying to be high-end, but the restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis. We later found out it used to be a buffet, and now it seems like they're trying to rebrand without really creating enough buzz around it. They need promotions, events, maybe even live music--something to bring people in. The menu is extremely limited, and there's no kids' menu at all, which was frustrating for a family dinner. They ended up handing us the lunch menu just to compensate. My daughter ordered the Alfredo pasta, and it honestly didn't taste like Alfredo--it mostly tasted like oil. Adding Parmesan helped a little, but it was still disappointing. The bread was decent enough. I ordered the cod with rice and asparagus, and it was okay--probably the best part of the meal--but nothing that made me feel like I'd come back for it. The waiter was kind and doing their best to answer questions, so no complaints there. Overall, it just felt like a restaurant with potential but no real direction. I went to have lunch today. Expecting the buffet BUT now it's regular restaurant. It is very elegant and impressive. The ambience is very classy. The food was exquisite and cooked perfectly. This is not your average restaurant. It's more along the lines of fine dining. If I want to be spoiled I will come back here. Everything was cooked like a Michelin star restaurant. Prices were very average and affordable. Service was excellent!!! They also have a separate meeting room that is closed off and holds at least 20 people. Nice for dinner parties. read more

Came during my hour lunch because I wanted something healthy and found reviews online about their salad bar. Took some time to be greeted but once I paid $15 for the salad and soup bar things went quick! They have lots of options for salads, a wide variety and lots of dressings as well. They had 2 soups at the time and I went with the pozole they had! It was pretty good for a place in clovis like this. The waitress came back and told me all about the happy hour and other things they offer since I didn't have time for the full experience! I'd love to try to meat station and other side they have. ***Warning***I really wanted to support a local business. They had sent out free entrees when you signed up thru their social media page. We even called to verify if this free entree was real and if there was stipulations. They said none, "come on in". We got there and to our shock, it's buy one get one free entrees. So we're forced to make a purchase! Fine. They were out of a lot of things. So when they first opened they had this immaculate salad bar, that's gone. We got a mediocre burger and a pastrami sandwich which was supposed to be on focaccia bread. We were told they were out of it. So they served the pastrami on a hoagie roll and it made the amount of pastrami microscopic. This experience right out of the gate made me believe they are struggling and will not last long. I don't want any business to end but this practice showed me that they don't even care. Good luck to them. You've been warned. I'll be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I would give Dosan FIVE STARS for ambience! The open dining area has comfortable booths surrounding the periphery of the room. The ONLY place in FRESNO/CLOVIS area, that plays low volume, instrumental jazz in the background. It's a pleasant and peaceful environment. Truly a unique and peaceful atmosphere. They also have a patio, that could be enjoyable in the evenings. We were here two days after the opening, so one must give them time to get up and running. They had various pickled items on the salad bar (yellow cauliflower, cucumbers, and large radish slices) and a good variety of greens. The potato salad was delicious! The pasta items and wedge potatoes were VERY tasty, however, they were not 'hot' . . . They will have to experiment on tweaking their heating elements, as those items were just lukewarm, as well as my carved turkey. At the carving station, you can ask them to 'assemble' a sandwich for you! My husband came back with a pastrami sandwich that he enjoyed. Dessert consisted of a variety of; cookies, brownies, muffins, and rice crispy bars. It was $25 each for all you can eat, and drinks are separate. Service is friendly. read more

Went on opening day expecting first day hiccups. $25 for the all you can eat buffet and another $9 for one trip to the carving station. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The gentleman at the carving station was very polite and agreeable. Everything at the salad bar was fresh and delicious. Dressings were good. Besides the salad bar, the best items were the house made pickles, mustard, pepperoni pizza, and Italian wedding soup. There were many things that could be improved. Overall, almost everything needed more seasoning, including salt. The meats were a disappointment. The pastrami was juicy and tender, but barely had a hint of pastrami spice. The turkey and beef were dry and mealy. The au jus had a layer of oil on the top. The sauerkraut and grilled onions were kind of flavorless too. The mac and cheese looked amazing, but tasted like nothing. Corn bread was dry and crumbly and biscuits were rock hard. The red sauce for the pasta tasted like tomato paste. The desserts were just ok, nothing special. All in all, $9 for the carving station option would be a great deal if the meats were better, and $25 for just the salad bar is not a great value. We came for their so-called promo, which was advertised on Instagram as "free entrees," only to get there and find out it was actually buy one, get one free. Then we were told it was only one promotion per table, which was NOT made clear in the original advertisement. We were willing to work with that, but the customer service made the entire situation so much worse. We waited damn near 30 minutes just for the server to come back and argue with us about what was posted on their page instead of simply explaining the promotion and trying to resolve the misunderstanding. The hostess was also just messing around instead of actually helping. The attitude we received for asking a completely reasonable question was ridiculous. The bartender was actually nice and decent, so I'll give him credit where it's due, but overall the service was absolutely terrible. For a restaurant that tries to present itself as upscale and bougie, I expected MUCH better. Misleading promotion, horrible communication, long wait, and staff acting irritated because customers wanted clarification. Definitely not worth the experience. read more

I'm not sure if it's because this beautiful establishment has changed hands four times since I've been in Fresno. I don't know why people can't get their traction here. I'm thinking it's because of the lack of restaurant experience because it's a large space and I have tried each establishment. Out of all the experiences that I paid in this establishment, this was the weakest demonstration of food experience. They could put more into learning the local preferences, and quality for a beautiful place like this. I feel if they put it together, they could get out of the red lines and be successful. read more

Hidden gem!!! Terrific happy hour that lasts till 7:00 pm. Large selection of food, wine, cocktails and beer. We had the egg rolls, sliders and wings. All were really fresh and delicious. First off I want to express that this was my first time here at Dosan. Apparently I missed it but they had a different menu just a month ago before I came. They had pizza and all you can eat salad bar, sort of like a buffet setting. Today they had a high end restaurant menu. NO MORE BUFFET. I had the salmon and pesto pasta and it was literally the best salmon I've ever had!! Cooked perfectly, juicy and not dry at all. The pesto sauce had put the Italian into Italian! This chef was born and made for this!! That pasta sauce was not missing a single thing!! I rate that 10 stars! My husband had the ribeye and that was cooked to perfection. Nicely grilled on the outside with the perfect crisp and moist and tender on the inside, seasoning was on point, however the ribeye was very thin and a bit small in size but still was very good. ! Appetizer spicy shrimp was the best thing ever. Flavors were spicy, powerful, very distinct... I'll never forget those flavors... never had it anywhere before, Must Have! The bread stuffed with cream cheese was so addicting, you gotta try that, although it could have used more filling!! Overall this restaurant did a 180 degree turn around on the whole Menu, the vibes, the ambience, and the service. Came back for a 2nd time and brought the husband for Father's Day. He loved the food! The restaurant is large and clean. We sat in the lounge/bar area. The seats are comfy. Everything we ate was delicious. It's different from typical restaurants and the service was great. We were seated right away. We ordered the stuffed bread for the appetizer and they baked it on the spot. The beet salad was so fresh and yummy! It came out warm and so flavorful. The only downside is that the machine to pay and checkout was glitchy and I couldn't tip on it so I had to use cash, which I rarely carry. read more

I tried this place a few days before thanksgiving, they have a small carving station with small selection of meats, the beef was super dry and stringy, the turkey was delicious, they also had some German sausage that was tasty, the soups were not good IMO, tasted like canned goods, they also have a small salad station, I really liked it and wished they provided an option of salad only because sometimes you don't feel like eating meats, but I guess Fresno has better places for just salads. They also have a pasta and pizza section, all very basic and not appetizing at all. Brought my BF to try it with me for the first time and he agreed that this was a one time thing. read more

Nice American style buffet! Amazing price at $25!I appreciated the carving station but the prime rib had too much of a fat cap. The meat was tender though! I wish the food was hotter temperature wise, but overall an okay selection of food. Definitely doesn't have as large of a selection as a typical Chinese buffet but I had a good experience. I have to say, I am disappointed in the consistency of this place. We tried it the day after Thanksgiving and it was pretty good! Good enough to go again. It wasn't amazing, however it was still good. I took my husband and the carving stating meats were so dry. The brownies were hard. Cake was dry. A few things were good and other stations were dried up and scary. My son went with his girlfriend on his birthday and was let down. They said nothing was fresh, the cake was dry and found paper in the pudding cup. There were no other diners and the service was lacking. I'm disappointed as I recommended it. So without consistency, I won't be spending $25 plus per person to hope the food is fresh. read more

I have missed Sweet Tomatoes since Covid killed it. Dosan is the closet thing to Sweet Tomatoes I have found. It's only been open 3 weeks and undoubtedly they will have growing pains but my husband and I and another couple really enjoyed our meal. My salad was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. The carving station was tasty as well and the server was accommodating. Overall the staff was very friendly and attentive and open to suggestions and the meal was as good as Sweet Tomatoes (which I loved). I do recommend giving Dosan a try and a chance.
