New Blueberry Cream Pie soft serve flavour for August 2026! Super refreshing, and kind of reminds me of red grape :3 Also ordered the Raspberry & Pistachio cake; it was amazing, and everyone at the party loved it :)) The white chocolate on top tied really well with the cake! It was very easy to order items online for pick up. The shop is super cute with lots of different vendors with handcrafted products, like accessories, home decor, clothing, and even party. supplies!
Love their soft serve ice cream flavors! Very light, refreshing and not too heavy. I like their cookie-like texture of the waffle cone as well. Perfect treat for a hot summer day or even on a cold one with a jacket on.
I got a box of Christmas cookies from a friend over the holidays and it was so cute! It came with a variety of treats and a little card with what they are. The cookies were all really yummy and unique its own way. I love the variety of cookies. They are all not very sweet and very "homemade". It also came with a tea tin and small bag of granola. Such a great gift idea and hope they will have this seasonal box again!
I have to dedicate my 500th review to Butter Baker. Oh, their Matchamisu cake has won over my heart. That soft matcha chiffon cake combined with matcha tiramisu crème... is so freaking delicious. This is THE birthday cake I will be asking for every year now.
The sorbet itself was really good, it was this passion fruit, orange and guava sorbet. However when I purchased this, the cone broke two minutes after I walked out due to the sorbet being watery (it's normal because it's a sorbet for those who wonder). The cone lowkey just broke despite me holding it really lightly and it made me really sad and I went back to purchase another (8$) so if you decide to try the sorbet, please consider using the cup instead of the cone. Unless you want to pay 16 dollars for an ice cream cone. I've had their ice cream before and the cone didn't break with the ice cream, hope that helps! I hope there may be a better alternative cone for sorbet the next time I come!
I love butter baker! Usually I'm very picky with ice cream flavours. But no matter what the flavour, it never misses! I always look forward to the start of every month because I know they will have a new flavour. If you're not big into ice cream, definitely try their cookies, but make sure to ask if they can heat it up, the workers are always happy to do so. The store itself is quite hidden away from where the main streets are, but it's worth finding it. The inside gives cozy vibes. They sell more than just ice cream, they also sell cookies, tea, dining ware and novelty items as well. Overall, a great place with yummy ice cream!
Cute, hidden shop in Markham. Saw some cakes and pastries. Not much selection compare to the downtown location. I got the Junes flavour ice cream. Good mixture of coconut, mango, pineapple and passion fruit. Tropical flavours and it's like a piña colada. No dine in, but there are benches outside where the parking is.
I am going to update my review from b4 Sorry about the long delay I have been back though for their amazing soft serve ice cream I had a lemon sorbet this time and it was amazing, fantastical ( if that is even a word? ). The soft serve is to die for and deserves a 5 star just by itself But My review is only a 4 star because I also had a birthday cake. The raspberry pistachio cake Ok, it wasn't that bad I only reduced it by 1 star because it was kind of bland and ordinary. Maybe I was expecting more, but the cake didn't wow me. However listen yelpers. I will come back for their soft serve ice cream and recommend it any day of the week I can't wait until I'm back again to try a different flavour Buyer beware the ice cream was $8.02 after taxes, you could get a 1.5L tub for that price But Trust me this soft serve is worth every penny.
Back again for their strawberry birthday cake flavour for Feb 2025. The perfect balance of sweet and a slight tang from the Greek yogurt and strawberry flavours. Tip- get the cone in a cup so you can share with someone!
1. Affordable and delicious ice cream 2. Budget-friendly yet tasty ice cream 3. Great quality ice cream at a low price 4. Delightful ice cream that won't break the bank" 5. Scrumptious ice cream at an unbeatable price
A small store located at the end of a commercial strip plaza. On the outside the store appeared dark and I thought it was closed, so that can be deceiving. Ample parking right outside the store. Once inside it was a haven from the heat outside. A very cute and visually appealing store with thoughtful placement of specialty items and baked treats for sale. We had stopped by for the soft serve twist, grapefruit sorbet (non-dairy) and vanilla yoghurt (dairy). It was light, refreshing and had a distinct grapefruit flavour. We enjoyed it. It comes with either a sugar cone or in a cup. Pricier at $7.50. Other desserts, cakes and cookies are also displayed. There is only a two-seater bench inside.
The cakes n croissants r amazing but the ice cream amazing! I love the way the store is displayed so u must walk around the whole store see everything before making ur food process
Love coming here for their soft serve during the summer months! This location is really hidden in the industrial areas, without any other commercial units around. So definitely won't be able to easily stumble upon this shop if you're in the area without knowing exactly where it is/ that it exists. However, the store front is adorable, with lots of local goods like candles, jams, cups. etc. They sell whole cakes, slices, baked pastries and soft serve. I've had their cakes before and they're good - slightly sweeter than I'd like. However, the highlight for me is their soft serve ice cream that changes with flavour monthly based on seasonal fruit! I especially love it when they have their passionfruit soft serve and cantaloupe soft serve - both so delicious and pretty to look at. Worth a drive to find this hidden gem in Markham!

Butter Baker never misses! I always order cakes and get their monthly soft serve here. While their cakes are on the sweeter side when it comes to Asian bakeries, the flavours are great. They are also one of the few allergen-friendly spots (most places use nuts or almond powder surprisingly). They have a monthly soft serve ice cream flavour and I strongly recommend dropping by and sharing with someone (it's huge). I recently went and got their orange creamsicle flavour (twisted with vanilla) and thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourites so far are their blueberry and mango flavours too. This month seems to be a strawberry lychee mix, so will definitely be back before the end of the month to try that out! read more
Ice cream worth moving for? Maybe. I tried this ice cream recently on a trip to canada and let me just say all other ice creams have been ruined for me. The flavor of the month was blueberry cream pie. The ice cream was creamy and wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. I went back a second time during my trip and tried the Bakers latte and it was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. The service was great but I do wish they had a bit more tables and seating to enjoy the awesome space that they've created. Overall it was some of the best ice cream i've ever had and i'll definitely be back on my next trip. read more

I predominately visit Butter Baker for their soft served icecream! It is probably the best one uptown with unique flavours each month. There are some months where the flavours were a miss for me but I still go back cause the cone is delicious. read more
It was my friends birthday and we ordered the 8" Ube Vanilla cake for $56.75 . I really liked it and love the flavour. It had a hint of mint and I thought it was interesting mixed with the ube and vanilla. I definitely enjoyed it. I love the store itself as they sell other little items such as candles, Cups etc. I was hoping to try their coffee too but unfortunately the machine wasn't working. Definitely would order another cake to try for next occasion. read more
Love coming here for their soft serve! They change it every month but so far this one is my fave. It does get busy and it's a smaller like walk in shop, do recommend getting their cookies if you like chewy cookies. Also smells amazing in here! read more
Located in a secluded limited traffic/pedestrian area. As most reviews mentioned, I came here for their ice cream. Everyone else that came in before and after me also had the same idea. Flavor of the day was Salted Caramel and Tahitian Vanilla. $6.99 plus tax for soft serve cone, never thought I'd see the day I'd pay that much for a soft serve, Armageddon has arrived. Maybe it's due to expensive ingredients like Tahitian Vanilla?; I challenge anyone who can tell the difference in flavor from regular run of the mill vanilla. Got the swirl which comes in a sugar cone. Salted caramel overpowered the Tahitian Vanilla, swirl was a good blend as Salted Caramel by itself would have been too sweet. Gotta admit, this was creamy, silky smooth in my mouth. I'm gonna stick with the Ikea and Costco soft serves, the price difference between the soft serves is just too far apart for me. Count me out of the $6.99 soft serve elites. read more

One of my dessert spots in Markham, a cute local shop offering loose-leaf tea, glasses, candles and all sorts of home goods made locally in Canada. It is such a spot while you satisfy your cravings for something sweet. My go-to as always is their soft-serve ice cream that changes monthly. From time I do grab a slice of cake or two or even some of their baked goods. read more
Butter Baker is a popular GTA spot to satisfy your sweet craving. Yes, we're talking about Swirls of fresh fruit purée sorbet combined with vanilla ice cream! The soft serve allows fruit flavours to shine through. The flavour this month is mango. The Markham location is in an industrial plaza and is surprisingly busy. On a sunny day, many folks enjoy the swirl in the shade outside, and it's certainly a colourful refreshing dessert. Being the Butter Baker, there are various baked goods & cakes as well. The Apple Pie is neatly wrapped together with real blended apple filling. I wish it was more flaky but the pastry is quite soft & airy. read more

Their softserve is back! March is pineapple and the colouring is not as strong as previous years, the flavour is still good! We got a swirl (pineapple with vanilla) on a cone for $6.99 + tax. FYI the cones are made in house so often times the end tip has a hole and can be leaky as you are eating. Definitely keep more than one napkin at the end to avoid a mess. It was my first time visiting this location as I usually visit the downtown one. They have a nice selection of bud vases, ceramics, and little gifts and stationery for sale. As well, they have many jam preserves and candles too. There is ample parking in the lot. Please note there is no seating area inside. read more
Butter Baker never fails to impress me time and time again. Prices have thankfully stayed relative, ice cream flavours are creative and fun, and overall the location in Markham has a neat stock of goods to explore. It's a cozy place and while there's not really any seating, great to explore on a weekend. Service is always friendly. I will be back next month for the new flavour of the month! read more
I was initially excited to finally try Butter Baker, but left slightly disappointed by the quality. I ordered a matcha and peach birthday cake, because it's one of the few bakeries that offer matcha flavour cakes. I didn't like how the smallest size was 8", and not easily customizable. Also, the matcha and peach flavours didn't mix well together, and the peach was too fruity to go with the matcha. I heard they used to offer matcha tiramisu or only matcha cakes, which would have been a better option. read more

Their cakes and frozen treats are always fantastic. Over the last few months I've tried their yogurt swirl, as well as their ice cream and also their tiramisu and seasonal apple cake. An in-house made apple compote with layers of soft vanilla chiffon cake, light caramel chantilly cream, then topped with caramel sauce and dried apple pieces.. it is a perfect combo of apple, caramel flavours without it being too sweet! Tiramisu was amazing. One of the best ones I've ever had in terms of flavour. It's rich with coffee tones and not overly sweet. Blueberry and vanilla swirl yogurt and sorbet. Freaking amazing. I love the blueberry flavour - can definitely tell it's made from the seasonal fruit and well packed with flavour. Strawberry sundae was also amazing. I love the fresh strawberry sauce on the yogurt. The coffee and chocolate ice cream was delish! Not too sweet and beautiful tones of chocolate and coffee combined together makes it a wonderful treat for the cooler weather. Definitely Check them out if you have a chance' read more

I was here a couple weeks ago I got the soft serve mix of both pinaaple and vanilla. I really enjoyed the flavour! It was definitely something different. Service was great they were super fast and very attentive. Be honest, I am coming to this place for checking out the merchandises from the local artists. The little shop is very aesthetic and set up nicely with artwork, merchandise, products from local artists. I have tried croissants and sliced cake from their downtown location. I am trying the fruit purée and vanilla swirl sobert. The flavour changes regularly and the day I visit is blueberry. Be frank the fruit purée is too sweet for my liking and lack of vanilla flavour. The ice cream is only okay. Will come back to get artwork but may not get the desserts. read more
Location/Service This place is quite hidden within small streets surrounded mostly by commercial buildings. It's within a unit on its own - and limited parking available. It wasn't that busy when I went, so the parking seem to be manageable. The place doesn't have a big or fancy sign, so please use your GPS to direct you there. But I love their layout inside. It's very modern, simple and very visual. I also like the big sign once you go in, where it's the IG spot for photos. Also like the social distancing setup, with plexiglass, sanitizers and even a clear one direction path to follow. Staff were great, very friendly and informative of the menu items. Order came quick as well. Dessert I usually come here for their sorbet - which changes every month, so it keeps you entertained and excited on the different flavours they test. Both times I was here - the sorbet was very constant - not too watery or ice-y. I love how they fuse in basic flavours, but it's something you never thought of trying - for example, blueberry and cantaloupe. Although the sorbet is a little bit on the pricer end, but it's a nice treat on a hot day! Definitely swing by - I saw families/kids come by. They also have a lot of baked goods, which I should try next time, cause their downtown location bakery items were great! read more
I've heard of this place so many times - for their cakes and photogenic, Instagram-able ice cream swirls. I've been meaning to come for ages but the pandemic has dragged my "tomorrow" to "next month" to "next year. So sad... July's sorbet special was passion fruit and I just knew I had to get it. I was super full from a lunch at Cafe N One and so opted against the vanilla swirl for just a lighter sorbet. The sorbet was so good! Super tangy from the passion fruit and just the right level of sweetness. I asked for it in a cone with a cup on the side, and thank God I did - my first bite caused the sorbet to topple and the buttery waffle cone to break! No wonder - there was a giant gaping hole in the centre. The cone was delicious in itself, though arguably not a great fit with the sorbet (could definitely see it working with the vanilla though). I also got a slice of matchamisu on the side. It was very delicious! Not heavy at all. The matcha chiffon cake paired perfectly with the white chocolate creme, and I really enjoyed the chocolate chantilly in the middle. Would definitely get a full birthday cake if this flavour for myself! Cannot wait to give butter baker another try soon! read more
If you're in the mood for fresh soft serve and other sweets definitely check this place out! They offer a wide variety of cakes and pastries, chocolate, teas, and ice cream. I ordered the guava vanilla twist in a waffle cone. The ice cream was so fresh, and the guava flavour wasn't too overpowering. I will definitely be coming back here to try more desserts and other ice cream flavours. After hearing about their DT location, we were stoked there was one in Markham. The location is honestly quite strange for a bakery as it's in the more industrial/office area of Markham. For a Saturday late morning, the line wasn't extremely long, only like 5-7 parties. We picked up the sorbet and soft serve swirl cone, butter croissant, pear tart, ham and cheese croisant, and a matchamisu (matcha tiramisu) cake slice. First off, the sorbet was a fresh mango sorbet that fit perfectly well with the vanilla soft serve. It came with a waffle cone which finished the package really nicely. Excellent and refreshing for the hot weather. The bakery items however were not so great. I expected the butter croissant to be flaky and light, but it ended up tasting dense and day-old. The pear tart was alright, was quite literally half a pear on a pastry. Flavour was light and not overly sweet. The ham and cheese croisaand the matchamisu were pretty standard but nothing exceptional. The interior was quite cute and they had a lot of quaint and artisanal items like flavoured vinegars, and giant bobby pins. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the soft serve and sorbets here. The bakery items could really use work, or perhaps I visited on a really off-day. I've heard their sorbet flavours are rotational so will have to be back to try the new flavours and maybe give the bakery items a second chance. UPDATE: We visited another time to try a new sorbet flavour which was Passionfruit for July. Still quite delicious however the mango flavour is still my preference. Since the price for a swirl in a cup or a cone was the same price, we asked for it in a cup with the cone on top/side so that it wouldnt drip all over the inside of the car. They informed us that doing this would be a $1.25 upcharge despite the fact that a cone and a cup is the same price. The math didn't add up for me and we just ended up opting for the cup itself. This interaction honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Visited on a Saturday afternoon after lunch nearby. It's somewhat hard to find due to being in the middle of an industrial area, though the lines might give it away! Luckily I was there around 2:00 pm and didn't have to line up outside (at the moment, 8 at a time). Got the mango (June flavor) and vanilla twist cone. I enjoyed the combination which included a mango chunk. Pick your spots weather wise, as my cone started to melt pretty fast! There are a few seats and benches outside, or some just ate in their cars. The lines do seem to get busy (at one point around 30 people waiting) so I would watch out for time. Thought the price was a tad high for the soft serve (~$7) but enjoyable overall. It seems there's some monitoring of this page so I'll add that perhaps the merchandise items could be separated from the queue as that might help cut down the line. I saw that takeout items were delivered by staff to those waiting outside so seems that part is pretty smooth. read more

I have been wanting to try Butter Baker for the longest time after having a friend rave about their cakes. I must say that this location is quite hidden and in a very industrialized area. At first I thought I was in the wrong place but trust your maps! The exterior of the place is extremely adorable and you can say the same for the inside. It gave off very cozy and aesthetic vibes. When you walk in they have their cake display and their other baked goods. Towards the back the have a lot of local business items such as candles and honey. There was a jar of caramel butter that drew me in but I decided to save it for next time. For this trip, I went with a packet of hazelnut cookies and a slice of the matchamisu. I must say that the price is quite up there but I appreciate the ingredients and the fact that everything seemed to be handmade with love. Oh boy was that slice of matchamisu amazing! It was just enough matcha without being bitter and the perfect amount of creaminess. I was satisfied from the one slice of cake. Definitely a cake I would go back for and even buy the entire thing. The cookies were pretty good but you'll probably want to eat them with tea or milk. Overall, a very cute place with amazing cake. I'll be back for sure! read more

I came here for the soft serve. It's a really cute shop at glance but then it seems to be trying to do a lot at once. There is everything here from baked cookies and pastries to it's not containers for babies and incense burners and body cream. I had two soft serve ice creams and one cookie. It came up to near $19. We had the passion fruit and vanilla soft serve. It was super sour on the passionfruit side and more like a sorbet, so the vanilla soft serve was a nice way to balance out the shock of the sourness. I would be interested in coming back to try different flavors in the future. They said they have one flavor every month. The cookie was thin, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was the banana caramel. It tasted more like banana bread and cinnamon. read more
