    Chiffon cakes sample set!
    Joeann S.

I went to Vava to try the mini chiffon cakes and they did not disappoint! They were all so airy and light but still full of flavour. My favourite kind was the Hokkaido cheese! Their downtown location also has gelato too, can't wait to go back and try. Everyone working there was so nice and service was very quick.

VaVa specializes in making specialized full-sized and mini (cupcake-sized) chiffon cakes and ice cream cakes. They can also make themed cakes and special occasion cakes. They just opened their fourth location in downtown Toronto on 2024-07-26. At this location only, they introduced a set of 6 mini cakes, called "Bedtime Stories". Among the 6 are two downtown-exclusive flavours: Strawberry Cream Cheese and Coconut Latte. The other 4 were: Mocha Cocoa, Hokkaido Creme, Sea Salt Oreo, Taro Mochi. Also exclusive to the downtown location is their gelato. They have a series called "Starlight Story", consisting of 6 flavours: Mixed Berries, Black Sesame with Salted Egg Yolk, Strawberry with Cheese Cake, Thai Milk Tea with Caramel Cookie, Pistachio, and Matcha with Cranberry; the last two are considered premium flavours which cost more per scoop. We ordered the following gelato: 1. Double Scoop of Black Sesame with Salted Egg Yolk and Matcha with Cranberry ($9.48). 2. Double Scoop of Thai Milk Tea with Caramel Cookie and Pistachio ($9.48). I like how they put fresh ingredients on top of a scoop, like Salted Egg Yolk, Cranberry, Caramel Cookie, and Pistachio Nuts. It adds to the freshness of the scoop of gelato. You can see the machines stirring the gelato, so sometimes you have to wait a few minutes while they churn a particular flavour. We also ordered the Bedtime Stories mini cakes set ($23). They were very fluffy and medium sweetness. I like so many of the 6 mini cakes! I liked how they put shavings of the distinctive flavour on top of the cake, and they have things inside like mochi for the Taro Mochi one. The customer service is good. This store is takeout-only since there is no indoor or outdoor seating. The store is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button; it can be quite cramped inside for a wheelchair. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2024-141

    Thai Milk Tea Gelato

Tried the Thai Milk Tea Gelato and it was so creamy and sweet! Though it was a little on the pricey side for a small scoop, it is worth trying as this place continues to spin their gelato, so it remains creamy! The service was good and the shop was very cute and aesthetic!

I tried their limited edition Brown Sugar Jujube Chiffon Cake. The cake was indulgent without being overly sweet and each individual element of the cake shone. The chiffon cake layers were so soft and intricate. The store is clean and service is friendly too. I'd definitely recommend!,

VaVa has just launched a new black sesame salted egg ice cream. The flavor is quite unique and it's really delicious. If you're interested, you should definitely give it a try. 今次VaVa新推出咗黑芝麻鹹蛋雪糕,味道好特別,幾好食。有興趣可以試一試。

Cute little cake shop. I went there this afternoon to pick up a cake for my co-worker's birthday. We decided to try their Taro mochi cake and it didn't disappoint. Its light, airy and delicious! Service was fast and the staff are friendly.

So the bear itself in the affogato was a solid icy chunk of milk (coz we chose the milk flavour) that just frozen. We added the affogato on top of it and while it looked aesthetic, the dessert didn't make sense at all. We were unable to break the frozen chunk or be able to mix it with the coffee and the coffee mixed with that frozen chunk submerged tasted really bad. Paying $16 for that wasn't worth it at all. The bingsu was good though. We got the mango bingsu bowl and it came loaded with mangoes and a marshmallow and an oreo cookie to make it look pretty! I don't think I'd come back to try anything else here. Was a little disappointed.

Delicious desserts, waffles ice cream, smoothies, and more. We ordered: Medium Mango Smoothie - $7.95 Simple Pleasures Waffle - $15.50 The waffle was light and fluffy and the toppings of fruit and chocolate were a great combination. I requested to be lighter on the chocolate but there was still a LOT of chocolate on our waffle. The mango smoothie was refreshing and sweet. I started going to Holy Choco when they first opened and their service was really good from some of the owner. Super attentive and caring staff. Unfortunately, it's since gone downhill since they've hired new staff and we had a number of small problems when visiting this time (dirty tables, dirty cutlery, requested if our food could be put in to go containers because they didn't want to do dishes, unfriendly, etc.) I hope they improve upon these staffing issues soon. Their seating area is good for friends and groups to loiter. Also, if you plan on bringing a laptop, they have MANY OUTLETS!!

For items: we chose strawberry, banana, halal marshmallow, waffle bites, brownie bites, and Oreo with a round of cappuccino's ($5.50 each). The interior is nicely decorated with a cute angel photo op in the back, and window bar seats and couches to choose from. Great spot for 2-4 people. The only criticism I could have was it took a while to get our order. So, it's not one of those places you can be dipping into expecting to be done in 20mins! We stayed for nearly 3 hours and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

We ordered the Bananarama and Coco Vanil. They are both awesome, although if I could only choose one, I'd go with Bananarama. It was amazing. I'll be coming back for more in the days to come. The service was fantastic. The individual that helped me was very nice. She had several recommendations. There is a nice patio to enjoy your treat, along with the views. Like I mentioned before, I'm definitely coming back for more. I highly recommend you visit BeaverTails when in Toronto. You will not be disappointed.

I got the Avalanche (Skor,Cheesecake, and Caramel) and I loved that they stretched the dough when we ordered and then start frying it right there. It really ensures that we get freshly fried Beaver Tails at the peak of their deliciousness. After I got mine slathered with the toppings I ordered, I dug in and as expected, it's really hot but SOOOOO good. It's like the concept of a donut only thinner and crispier, thus resulting in a much better texture and crunch throughout which I very much prefer over a donut actually. The cheesecake spread mingling with the sweet caramel, crunchy toffee bits, and crispy hot dough is just such a perfect combination. It's a bit of a mess to eat but sooooo worth it. It really is such a shame that there isn't an establishment like this in NYC because it could seriously do some REALLY good numbers over here I reckon. I HAVE to get this again when I come back up to Canada (unless ya'll want to build a place down across the border haha).

I stopped by Kream after seeing all the hype on Instagram about the famous Korean "Dubai…read morechocolate." When I saw the price was $9.90 per chocolate, I was honestly a little surprised, bc it's sold under 7 per chocolate in Korea. But they were running a promotion until the 15th -- 5 for $30 -- which made it much more reasonable. I've never had the original version sold in Korea, so I can't compare it directly, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems pretty similar to what's trending there. Korean reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and people say it tastes just like the viral version. The texture is definitely chewy, just like the name suggests, and it's very sweet. Personally, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's just my preference. That being said, I gave some as gifts and they absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy rich, sweet desserts -- or you're looking for something trendy and fun to share -- this would be a great choice. The shop itself is small and cozy, but very welcoming. The staff were friendly and made the experience pleasant. Overall, even though it's not exactly my personal favorite flavor-wise, I can understand the hype. It's a fun treat to try at least once, especially if you've been curious about the viral Korean Dubai chocolate trend. I'd recommend stopping by and taking advantage of the promo while it lasts!
