Before the pandemic, I visited Daan Go in Scarborough and they felt a very strong and positive impression. So coming back and seeing them again near my hotel, I was beyond ecstatic. The macarons still look very adorable! We got 2 to try - peach and strawberry. They were on the harder side so it wasn't enjoyable like before. I wish they sold fresh macarons. The service was very good and patient though!
Daan Go is my go-to spot for cakes! They are the perfect balance of sweetness, which my Asian parents absolutely love. The cake decorating is always adorable and creative, and I constantly look forward to their seasonal and special occasion creations. My favorite has to be the Chocolate Lucky Cat. While it's not a cake, it looked so realistic and was delicious! Pricing is very reasonable, which is nice in a market where cakes often hover just below the $100 mark. And and Daan Go's affordability doesn't compromise the quality or taste. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and the store itself is spotless and inviting.
As a long-time customer of Daan Go's various locations, I find this one to be my preferred one. It's usually less busy than the Midland Ave location, though parking can be a bit tricky during peak meal times. The store itself is bare-bones, with no seating. The cakes, especially the mini ones, are adorable and not too sweet (and that's a compliment!). This year, I had the pleasure of picking up some mooncakes and found the early bird discount to be reasonable. Pickup was easy and the service was efficient. The flavours were not too experimental but still delicious.
This might be my favourite cake shop/patisserie in the GTA! I've ordered a number of their cakes and have yet to be disappointed by their flavour combinations, efficient pick up service, consistency, and cake decor. My go-to has to be the 3:15 cake that combines the beloved HK milk tea with pineapple bun crumble. 24k Mango and their Vietnamese Coffee tiramisu are also hits in our family! If you're into Asian-inspired flavours, the cutest cake, patisserie, & macaron designs, and mousse, you have to come here! They also sell small versions of their cakes that basically are edible artwork. P.S. Check in on Yelp to get a small retail discount :)
Can't speak to the ambiance since this is basically a takeout bakery w/o seating, but place is very clean (like a lab!). The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are what you'd expect for desserts disguised as art (or would that be art disguised as art?). At $9/each we ate very tasty cake/mousse/pudding type confectioneries. $9 CDN is about $7 US$ which is a deal for how tasty and beautiful these desserts were. The ramen looking cup was coffee jelly with chocolate mousse and a candied pear. The cactus was very delish w/ hazelnut but no actual cactus! Gobbled down too quickly. Lots of components and about the size of a medium cupcake. Buy bakery here for special occasions or as a gift. Oftentimes, artsy baked goods look good but taste meh. Here, they look AND taste good.
I finally got around to trying Daan Go now that it opened in Richmond Hill! I was pleasantly surprised as I had heard reviews that their designs are cute, but taste is just ok. We ordered the Vietnamese Coffee Tiramisu cake for a birthday and it tasted amazing! I love how there was depth to the cake, and they put a lot of care with the different layers and flavours in the tiramisu. It tasted really well made and looked professional compared to other competing bakeries. It is a bit on the sweet side but still recommended for coffee lovers. Look forward to trying their other items!
I brought the pastry gift set (4 mini cakes) to a friend's house and they were a hit! The four of us split two mini cakes for dessert and it was perfect. They were both unique and fun to eat! A great way to end a meal. I also got to try their fromage cheesecake and it was really good. I redeemed this as a free gift for joining their points program.
Cakes never disappoint..very reasonable prices and caked look cute and actually taste delicious! Love that they can be ordered online for pickup, very convenient.
This is a very cute bakery for cakes and Macaroons. They have variety of Macaroons with different flavors. 6 for $22 in a cute box. The girl is very friendly and explain to us about their ordering process for cakes. Will come back to try their cakes later. I
If your looking for a special cake for a special occasion with premium ingredients, then this place is for you. Pre-ordered ,"Lovebird special" cake for $5 discount, set a pickup date/time. Pick up was flawless, minimum wait time waiting for staff to box up my order. Made with Nigori Creme de Sake layered atop a classic strawberry mousse. Inside, you'll find our classic chiffon and a mixed red fruit insert on top of a buttery shortbread base. The lovebirds on top are composed of chocolate and rice krispie bits, and the solid chocolate love heart is made with freeze-dried yuzu powder and strawberry Valrhona chocolate. Cake was moist and all ingredients blended well together. Can also order cake by the slice, very unique flavors, can appreciate all the love, time and effort in creating these slices of heaven. A bit pricier than other bakery shops but premium ingredients don't come cheap, well worth the price for a unique flavor experience.
I went here as a recommendation by my sister in-law. She went to the one in Mississauga area and Scarborough. This is my first time here. Greeted kindly by the staff. They have so many selections available for you. I was excited to choose which ones to get for me and the family. I got the 6 pack for $20, to be honest I don't even know if that's a good price or a steep one. They also have full cakes, slices and other kinds of desserts I cannot even describe! I would definitely come here again and try the other flavours I haven't yet. Next trip would be with a fellow yelp friend :)
I'm so excited that there's a location uptown!! No more having to go to Scarborough for cute and yummy cakes and macarons. The location is smaller than their Scarborough location and yess they sell ice cream here! Their grand opening went smoothly. Even with a limit of 5 people, the line was very quick. You order and they bring it outside for you. Props to Chris for taking the time to talk to everyone! I got a couple slices of cake and durian ice cream and was surprised to see they added gifts in my bag! Oh and they had complimentary food for those in line...and I was shocked to see how big the ice cream sample were!!
Going in, I was skeptical that Richmond Hill needed another place that sold Asian desserts/ pastries. But I was pleasantly surprised after entering into Daan Ga's new store and the creativity of cakes available here. Each slice of cake has distinct layers that is different texturally or taste-wise. And yet, the layers harmoniously works together with each bite. There's a wide variety of cakes to choose from, including macaroons, cookies, muffins and ice cream. We tried a slice of the Peach Garden (white peach gelee, yellow peach mousse, peach jam, osmathua jelly, almond crunch base -$7) and the Gold Thorn (Durian puree, durian mousse, vanilla chiffon, cheese cream -$7). Both were great, though I am not a fan of Durian. I'll definitely be back to try more cakes!
I was in the area and decided to drop by to pick up a slice of cake for dessert. They offer a great variety of flavors of cake, macaroons and ice cream. I got the mango cheesecake which was so good and I loved it. The desserts are on the pricey side but it's okay as a treat once in a while. read more
I visited on a Thursday around 1 PM and was the only customer at the time. However, judging by the nearly empty display of $9 specialty cakes, it was clear they had seen a steady stream of customers earlier. The purpose of my visit was to redeem my birthday reward, valued at $7.50, so I only paid $1.70 out of pocket. Naturally, I chose my cake based on the flavor signs, though the beautiful presentation made it tempting to pick with my eyes instead. I selected the one that looked like a bathtub with a rubber duck, believing it was the malted chocolate and salted caramel flavor. Later, I checked their website and discovered the signs had been misplaced. What I actually got was the "Lucky Duck", a cake made with a hand-painted white chocolate ducky, lemon curd, pistachio cream, and almond sponge. Fortunately, those are still flavors I enjoy. Visually, it was a showstopper, but the flavor and texture didn't quite deliver. The overall taste was muted and lacked distinction, while the texture was uniformly soft, offering minimal contrast aside from a few small crunchy toppings. Ultimately, it was a beautiful dessert that impressed more with its appearance than with its flavor. Service was minimal but friendly. The staff member handled the reward redemption smoothly and thoughtfully asked if I wanted a spoon to enjoy my cake on the spot. read more

I love Daan Go and placed a pick-up order for here for the first time, as I had only visited their Chinatown location before. This location was way more efficient and organized than my experience with the Chinatown shop, although that's not to say the other location was bad. I've just had to wait for orders there before and at this location, they found my order right away and brought it out to me all set to go. I ordered macaron (I always do because they are SO GOOD), a slice of the 3:15 cake, a Unicorn cookie, and a S'mores cookie. The 3:15 cake is my favorite of theirs that I've tried. If you like caramel flavors, you should definitely check it out. The cookies were fun and also yummy. Everything was well worth it. Daan Go makes excellent baked goods and fun treats, I highly recommend them! read more
Glad they opened one in York region because it's a far drive to Scarborough. We were lucky to be able to get in within 5 minutes because there's usually 10+ people in line on weekends. I haven't been to the Scarborough one in awhile but I don't think it was as good as it used to be. Looks like they increased the prices too. The Tira Meow Su was good but the pandan cake had an after taste. I'll probably try the ice cream one day. The viet coffee macaron was still my fav though.. In terms of cake, I think I prefer Butter Baker. read more
I'm sorry I might be lambasted for this review. But I don't see what all the hype is for Daan Go. I mean, the display and packaging is on point. The cakes look amazing I arrived on Chinese New Years Eve 2023 at around 6 pm and the lineup was out the door. This place is beyond popular. The display was amazing. Cake slices were almost glowing. Now 'maybe' "maybe" I was expecting too too much much. I mean cmon master chef winner from 2021? I might have believed that there would be a sugar explosion in my mouth lol Now I brought it home, amazing service great packaging and choice availability I waited until after my New Years dinner, told my family WE HAVE CAKES FROM DAAN GO! I didn't even care if 6 pieces of cake cost me over $45 I waited in anticipation while my kids ate it What do you think? Ah meh. My wife had some. Ah meh I had the tiramisu It was sweet and delicious But ah meh Maybe I was too looking forward to Daan Go However for whatever reason it didn't live up to my I'll be it super anticipating desire. On a side note I probably would have rated this place a 4 or even 5 star if it was some Ho-hum family bakery But cmon Daan Go, MasterChef 2021. I thought one cake would satisfy me for 10 days of famine. read more
Got a birthday cake from here for a friend. It is a little pricer but I really enjoyed it! We got the 3:15 Hong Kong Milk tea cake ($41) and the matcha ice cream ($10). The cake was very well decorated and very delicious as well. I also really enjoyed the ice cream! Very authentic milk tea and matcha flavours. Would love to come back to try some of their other products! Only thing is to be sure to order ahead online to guarantee your spot! read more

Art in a pastry store from the minute you walk in! Beautiful pastries sculpted into cute creative cakes and macaroons. Excellent customer service. Everyone is treated as important customers. I highly recommend this pastry shop. They also have delicious cookies and amazing ice cream! I give it a four because it's a little bit pricey. read more
Very inventive French desserts. The first time I came I only had the Macaroons. They were not the original French recipe but they were just so cute to look and and tasted good. Second time I tried the Lucky Duck (picture) and it was delightful. Light and refreshing. Just the perfect way to finish a meal or afternoon tea. Yes they are on the expensive side but no overly so compared to other fancy bakeries in the area. read more
Went here to get a birthday cake for my mom and we were not disappointed! I ordered the Diamond cake 8" online through their website. They require at least 5 days notice to make specialty cakes! I also noticed they offered mahjong pieces made of fondant! My mom loves mahjong so I thought this was the perfect decoration! The cake wasn't too sweet which I like, and the bottom crust was crunchy and quite thick! It was a good mix of sweet and a little sour because of the passionfruit layer. The flavours in the cake were dark chocolate hazelnut mousse, passionfruit ganache, milk chocolate crunch layer, and dark chocolate drip to top it off. read more

Overall, not too bad. The mango Cheesecake is the best during the day it was bought and not the next day. Staff was very friendly, especially Christopher Siu that was manning the door. Some improvements that can be made: - if people had already ordered online or via phone, they should be able to pick up their order fairly quickly and not have to spend another 30-45 minutes in line just to pick up their order. One way of solving this is having one staff member ask each person in line what their order number is and verify on the spot and the staff member will fetch the order and bring it to the customer. Saving both time and keeping the customer happy. - inconsistency of packaging. Some customers got the daan Go bag while other customers walked out with a brown bag. If you have run out of bags, every customer should be getting the same treatment. By giving different bags. It gives the illusion or feeling of regulars being favoured over walk ins. Other than that. Good experience. read more

Daan Go Cake Lab is an absolute gem!! I LOVED their desserts, especially the macarons! They make the cutest character macarons! Almost too cute to eat~ Their desserts incorporate authentic Asian flavours and ingredients which is amazing ! They come in 18 different flavours - such as HK Milk Tea, Pandan Coconut, Vietnamese Coffee and more! Overall, amazing presentation, taste and customer service!! I highly recommend Daan Go Cake Lab!! I can't wait to be back in the GTA to buy more of their macarons, cakes and try their ice cream! What we ordered: Tira-Meow-Su - I love this fun and cute version of tiramisu! The 24 hour cold brewed espresso syrup and the creamy mascarpone cream were perfectly balanced - not too sweet! The cup is also edible!! It's made of dark chocolate which I love My sister really liked the cute marshmallow cat! 24k Mango Cheesecake - This mango cheesecake was not too heavy and the cheesecake was so smooth. I also really like the combination of fresh mango chunks and passion fruit purée! The little mango macaron on top of the cake was also very good. HK Milk Tea Macaron (Cow) - My mom and I really liked this macaron. It was super flavourful! The filling in the middle was reminiscent to the drink that I had in HK. Strawberry Macaron (Piggy) - This is my sister's favourite item among all the things we've ordered. ___ Tira Meow Su ($8.00) 24k Mango Cheesecake ($7.00) HK Milk Tea Macaron ($3.50) Strawberry Macaron ($3.50) read more

Daan go makes the cutest cakes! It's my go to place when I need to go to someone's house and bring something. They always have plenty of pre made cakes in the window but you can also pre order online. Macarons are also super yummy! read more
Daan Go has been on my list of must try desserts, for over 2 years now and I was so excited when I found out they were finally opening up a location here in Richmond Hill. I have to say they did not disappoint! They are on the pricey end, but to me it's totally worth it. You can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship, as each dessert is beautifully made and taste just as amazing. We came the day after their grand opening, which was a good thing because I heard grand opening day was SUPER BUSY. Located in time square plaza, a very small shop and with covid they limit the amount of people allowed inside. We waited about 5 - 10 minutes before we were able to go in. [Durian Ice Cream] - Very creamy and smooth and packed with durian flavour. [Assorted Macaron - 6pc] -Passion Fruit (Fox) - This was the flavour the cashier recommended, and it was delicious just not for me as I've never been a huge fan of passion fruit. -Mango (Yellow Pooh Bear) - This was my husbands favourite flavour -Strawberry (Pig) - This one is one of my favourite and the pig is just way too cute!! -Roasted Milk Tea (Panda) - Huge fan of roasted milk tea but I don't know if I like it in macaron form. -Vietnamese Coffee (Koala) - This is my other favourite flavour! -Matcha (Bao/Dumpling) - The bao/dumpling is just waaaay too cute and the matcha was subtle and delicious. [24K Mango Cheesecake] - Delicious, my husband & I are huge mango fan, and this cake did not disappoint. It was delicious and not overly sweet. Bonus it came with a macaron as well! [Pandaan] - We gave this to my mom in law and she said it was delicious and not overly sweet! Highly recommend. Overall, we were happy with everything we purchased that day and can't wait to come back for more. The only thing I regret was not grabbing the milk tea as I heard it was award winning!! Definitely will be back for the milk tea along with more desserts! read more

Super cute and yummy macaron made by Master Chef Canada season 7 winner Christopher Siu and his team. I love the sweets from this place. It is always fun, hits the spot and not too sweet. read more
First time at Daan Go Cake Lab after seeing a lot of hype for it on social media! I tried the matcha crepe cake ($8.00) and it was super yummy and a lot more filling than I thought it would be. The regular cheesecake is super tiny ($8.00) and tastes a bit (sour?) would not recommend for the portion, taste and price amount. The thai mt was super yummy and the flavours all went super well with eachother. Finally, the tiramisu and chocolate cake (tasted kind of the same) and to be honest, there was nothing special about both. Will come back next time to try the macarons! read more

Got the Father's Day cake over the weekend and we thought the cake was delicious. The pistachio mousse with the sponge cake plus the crunchy base go really well today. My only complain is that the orange caramel mousse was too sweet and overpowered the rest of the cake. However, we still really enjoyed the cake. read more
