Always stop into Bang Bang Ice Cream when we're in town. No line on a weekday afternoon. 26 ice cream flavours along with three vegan flavours. Lame that there's no sampling allowed. Prices have jumped up; single ($5.40), double ($7.95) and triple ($12.50). - Flight ($12.00 for 4) - passionfruit sorbet, soursop, matcha & jasmine soba (twist) and mint chocolate chip. Interesting flavours but scoops melt quickly - Miso mon cherry ($5.40) - on the savoury side
There is a reason that you will often find a line down the street--and that line has to be cut off at closing time. Just the best ice cream around, according to all the locals. And I would concur. Lots of fun, thoughtful flavors like campfire marshmallow, tiramisu, banana puddin' and matcha jasmine soba along with standard favorites. The flavors are spot on with your imagination, too. There are several size and cone/bowl offerings, and you can mix and match when there is more than one option that catches your eye (or your sweet tooth). Servers are polite and happy to make suggestions. Don't be put off by the line; it keeps moving. Go find out why there are so many people all over the block sitting on every bench and curb eating ice cream.
Lines are massive in the summer but it moves fast. Tried the matcha jasmine flavour and felt in love. Strong flavour that mixes well together. This is only takeout. They offer waffles, cookie sandwiches, cones that typical ice cream shops usually don't often. They had a lot of flavours to choose from as well. Ambiance is causal and quite chaotic when lines are long, I would suggest looking at the menu ahead and trying to decide what to get. ( NO samples)
Best ice cream in Toronto in my opinion. There are often long lines out the door. All the flavors are great and change pretty often, but going for a combo scoop lets you try at least two! Don't sleep on the cookies either.
Finally got to try Bang Bang Ice Cream after walking around Ossington and the line was manageable. Staff was super friendly and efficient. It was so hard to choose a flavour with such a large selection, but opted for the Matcha-Genmaicha Tiramisu. It was smooth and strong flavour that felt like I was actually eating tiramisu in ice cream form. Went with a bigger group so managed to try quite a few flavours and they were all amazing. Definitely well worth a visit.
one of my favorite ice cream spots i've tried in toronto!! i originally came because i saw they had a banana pudding flavor, and i had to try it. i ended up getting that with the matcha genmaicha tiramisu in an egg waffle, and the combo was perfect! the matcha flavor was very strong which i appreciated. it reminds me of a banana matcha latte which i've been obsessed with lately. two scoops plus the egg waffle for only $9, easily one of the cheapest ice cream places i've been to. the line can get pretty long on weekends, but i went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't bad at all. they also have sugar cones and cookie sandwiches if you want to switch it up, i've heard the cookie one's really good, so that's on my list for next time. i came back another day to try the london fog and mango pudding, and both were super good. the earl grey flavor in the london fog really comes through, and the mango pudding was so light and refreshing. definitely recommend!!
As expected, it's good! So many unique and creative flavors to try. We tried the 1) matcha and jasmine soba and 2) boba milk tea. Both were yummy. The matcha was very jasmine forward, so probably not the best for someone who doesn't like floral flavors. The boba one, as expected, tasted delicious and the tapioca pearls were soft. The interior is very small, but the staff is very friendly and fast. I definitely want to go back and try the other flavors.
Do you know how hard it is to find vegan icecream in this city thát has classic icecream flavours? I'm sick of sorbet so imagine my partner finding this place (conveniently located right next to the newly opened lunch lady) only to see that they have so many different flavours thát isn't typical! I ordered the mint and chocolate icecream sandwich (full size) and I quite literally INhALED the whole thing because it was a bit too hot outside. The shop was so cute and the lineup was super long but it was worth the wait. It helped thát only goth thát was on staff also provided extra service and gave me another vegan icecream shop recommendation - we love local businesses thát help support other local businesses. Next time I come back I'm making sure I have a lactaid ơn me so I can enjoy the unique flavours in a proper cone
This spot deserves the hype! As someone who likes ice cream but isn't crazy about it, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Bang Bang. First of all, their flavors are so creative! I got the 1/2 ice cream cookie sandwich with the "mud" (with mocha, espresso flavor, and fudge) and "campfire marshmallow" (with marshmallows, white chocolate, and graham cracker bits) flavors, which were delicious. The cookies were good but honestly, I'd just get a regular cup or cone next time to enjoy the ice cream more. They have so many options to choose from, including vegan ice creams. The place itself is really small - there's only a small bench to sit on inside, and they have another small one outside, so I recommend stopping by to grab a cone/cup and walking around Ossington.
Hadn't realized I already left a review for bang bang, 8 years ago! Defs due for an update. We came around 8pm on a chilly Friday evening, in Nov and surprised to still see a small line! Like damn, does this place ever NOT have a line? We probably waited 10 mins or less before we were inside placing our order, so no biggie. Their flavours right now are poppin but I settled on the tiramisu and peanut butter. BOMB. The peanut butter flavour really came through and that tiramisu tasted real. My friend had gotten the milk tea flavour and I tried a bit of it. Ommmg it's so good! The milk tea flavour was so strong. Any milk tea lover would like this. It's fairly priced for 2 flavours, though I feel like the scoops are a tad small. But that's just me nitpicking. The flavours are amazing and I see why they continue to be an iconic staple on Ossington.
One of my top 3 favorite ice cream shops in downtown Toronto! A must visit if you're craving some ice cream or looking for a dessert spot after a meal in Ossington. The smell of freshly made cookies and egg waffles fill the store and makes you want to stop by for a treat! The shop is small and there is no seating, so it's a quick grab and go spot. There is a bench outside of the shop but other than that, majority of people stand around the area to eat. There is always a line up and the reason why is it's because the flavors are all so good! They have a decent selection of flavors and unique ones as well. I usually go for their London Fog and Milk Tea flavors. Their bubble waffles are a must as well, very delicious when made fresh and pairs nicely with your ice cream. The pricing is also reasonable for what you get as well. The scoops are a good size and the flavors really shine through each bite. Since the shop is very popular, there is usually a few minutes wait for the waffles but the staff are quick and efficient. Will definitely come back whenever I'm in the area. My go to is usually the ice cream and egg waffles but I would love to try their cookies as an ice cream sandwich next time!
So a local introduced us to this place. He said it was his favorite so we ventured out here to try this ice cream and the pho place down the street. The line is very very long throughout the day so be prepared to wait. They have so many flavors it's kind of hard to pick one to try for your first one. I got a banana flavored one. It tastes just like banana pudding. It was so good. it was like heaven in a cup. After I had that, I realized what the hype was all about. It was the worth the wait in line. The workers are constantly working so they try to keep the line moving as quickly as possible.
This place is crazy! Such a long line for something that I don't understand the hype for. After doing the research and seeing what the hype was, I had a cookie sammie, rococoa cookie with chocolate hazelnut icecream and burnt butter toffee (what they are known for.) This was definitely not worth anything. A 3 star wax being generous. If I went in the summer it would be much lower. The cookie was hard and not warm. My toffee ice cream was melting and most of it was the "sponge cake" that was inside. Other was between the 30 minute wait, melting icecream and hard cold cookie... idk what I can say... It's worth trying once, only if you are looking for the trend. There were a few other places down the street that looked pretty good too.

BEST ICE CREAM EVER! Admittedly I'm such a snob when it comes to ice cream & gelato places, so I had high expectations and I'm so happy to say Bang Bang exceeded them! First off the flavor selection is plentiful and unique, I'd highly recommend taking the time to thoroughly look over the menu so you're aware of all the options. I wanted a 4 scoop flight so bad but didn't have the stomach room for it so I ended up with a half scoop of the miso cherry & soursop ice creams... HOLY delicious. Like not even joking this place SHITS on Gelato North in North York, which was my favorite spot before I discovered this place. Had the perfect creamy texture and flavor balance, everything just worked together so well & I will without a doubt be back to try their other flavors! I wish they allowed sampling, but because of how tiny the shop is and how many flavors they have I can understand why that's not an option. The staff does a great job at accurately describing the flavor profiles though. I also wish they offered waffle cones. They make all of their baked goods in house which is awesome. The aroma hits you as soon as you walk through the door, it's such a pleasant sensory experience. 10/10 must try if you're in the area or willing to drive out for an amazing ice cream experience. read more
Delicious even on a cold October evening, the wait was about 5-10 minutes on a Wednesday night. The staff are hardworking and efficient! There is no indoor seating, only a small bench located at the front. I enjoy my ice cream with the old fashion cookie. Lastly, they don't offer sampling! read more
Made a stop here for some ice cream. It was pretty popular and had a line but moved relatively quickly. It's a small place with friendly staff to just order and go. I tried their Lychee Rosewater and Totaro. They were creamy and not too strong in flavor but quite good. A good little ice cream shop to visit. read more

Line up was sooo long even on a weekday evening but was worth the wait. Their toffee is great and I would like to have it again soon! They have quite the variety of unique flavours that you normally don't see elsewhere. No seating area and can be quite crowded and tight. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. The hype is real! Delicious and delectable bubble waffles with icecream. This time I ordered the flavours burnt toffee and totoro! The burnt toffee flavour was extremely caramely and delicious. It had a fun crunchy texture with dried chunks of toffee. The totoro was great id you enjoy coconut flavours. It's been a while since I been here luckily we came early because theees always a line here we waited 30 mins compared to the hour I waited at night last time. You can get two flavors I got mud and London fog which in my opinion are the two gets flavors at bang bang, I didn't have to wait too long even though they had a lineup of people. The ice cream was so good the mud was my favourite you get a strong mocha taste, and the London fog has a strong tea Flavor, the waffle melts in your mouth so soft, I just wanted to keep eating the ice cream. The mud flavor tasted like a mocha fudge brownie, it was so good, this and mizzica are the best ice cream in Toronto. read more

Good flavorful ice cream with a variety to choose from. Totoro- good taro/coconut flavor ice cream. 4/5 Matcha twist jasmine soba- matcha was bitter so it balanced out the sweetness of the from the jasmine soba. 4/5 Nocciola- hazelnut based chocolate that was creamy and reminded me of Nutella. A popular ice cream in Ossington West, Toronto that always has a line! Came here after dinner for some ice cream just like everyone else in line. Waited for about 20 minutes for ice cream and got popped on from the birds above the trees while in line (HAHA, how lucky of me). No biggie, wiped off with tissue and continued with my waiting. Got near the front of the store and there's menus plastered on their walls so you can make your decision before hand. Got the burnt toffee in a cup in a cup and absolutely loved it, definitely a 5/5! It's sticky toffee pieces in your ice cream that's super creamy and sweet. It's what I usually get when I come here and never have any regrets. You can choose to get your ice cream in a cup, cone, or waffle cone - so many choices. There's a huge line and hype for a reason, it's actually so good! read more

Ice cream in the wintertime the moment it gets a little bit warmer! I visited Bang Bang Ice Cream the weekend the temperature got out of the negatives (it was 3 degrees haha). I had the totaro and jasmine soba. Totaro had a nice flavour of taro with a light touch of coconut. The Jasmine Soba was definitely my favourite it is more on the bitter flavour side because of its strong matcha and tea-like flavour (which I really liked). My boyfriend enjoyed the Totaro more as it was not bitter like the jasmine soba and was on the sweeter side. The cashier had amazing service and was very sweet with helping me with my order. The store itself is very small in space so we did have to eat outside in the cold. It is probably best to get this when it is much much warmer. However, I had a very good time and the ice cream was delicious! I will be back to try more flavours. read more

I absolutely loved the variety of flavors here. I wasn't expecting so many different Asian flavors. Some of the things I wanted to try were out. I got a double scoop with matcha/jasmine soba cha and soursop. My dad absolutely loved the soursop. He liked how fresh and fragrant it was. The ice cream wasn't too sweet either and really preserved the taste of the soursop. The matcha/jasmine soba cha was also really good. Not overwhelmingly sweet. I liked that fragrance of the jasmine was offset a little by the soba cha. My only regret is not having more time to come back to try more. read more

Came here after seeing the long line down the street. The sound of lining up for hours for ice cream definitely raised an eyebrow, but we gave it a shot since the weather was nice. It wasn't til we had a bite of the Burnt Toffee flavour that it all made sense :'). Probably my favourite ice cream flavour now despite never having heard of it before... Guess that means this will have to be my new go to place for Ice Cream! read more
Came here when it opened and there was no line, which is definitely the play as I hear there are huge lines all the time! Tried the big bang waffle which comes with two scoops of ice cream, and got lychee rosewater raspberry and matcha genmaicha tiramisu. The combo was absolutely amazing with the fresh hot waffle and great ice cream. Really aesthetic as well with the blended stripes of colour. It was very rich and you could taste the flavours really well. Should be noted that these are kind of specialty flavours so you pay a bit extra - overall came out to around $9 + tax. read more
This is a bit of a late review, but Bang Bang is my favourite spot for ice cream in the city, especially when the bubble waffle is made right (one time it was kind of hard when it's usually it's soft and a little fluffy). Bang Bang offers a wide selection of unique flavors, and all the ice cream flavors I've tried to date has been delicious. You can aslo choose to have your ice cream served in a cup, cone, bubble waffle, or in a ice cream sandwich format. You will normally see a line here, and you can expect to wait up to 15 minutes during busy periods if you want your ice cream in the bubble waffle. It's a small shop with no seating. However, it's conveniently located in the core of the restaurant filled part of the Ossington strip between Dundas and Queen, if you're craving for some ice cream after your meal. Such a fun, unique ice cream joint. Although the line is long, it goes quick. The egg waffle cones take the longest, because they make them to-order. I thoroughly enjoyed my ginger cookie ice cream sandwich (1/2 size was plenty). The spice was perfect and it paired well with my banana cream pie scoop. The cinnabun ice cream sandwich was also well loved. We paired it was the cinnamon toast scoop - just made sense to do so. Didn't care for the lemon taste in the birthday cookie, but the kids did love the campfire marshmallow scoop. In my opinion, the best ice cream was the Reese PB. I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM and the base of this scoop had a well-pronounced pb flavor. It tasted so good in a warm egg waffle cone. This spot is worth all the hype. read more

There is always a big line for this place as far as I have heard, and I witnessed the same. Yet it was worth the wait I would say! There is no seating as it is a very small area where you can just order, collect, and step out to eat. They have all their flavors displayed on the menu outside and have both cone and cups to choose from. I generally like Taro flavor and chose the same. It was yummy and just perfect in taste. Came here on a Tuesday night, even though it was a weeknight there was a long line. The service was pretty efficient so the wait wasn't too long. We wanted to try as many flavours as possible so we got 2 different scoops in the egg waffle (lychee rosewater raspberry and miso mon cherry) and one singular scoop of totaro. Our favourite flavour was totaro. Next time we are definitely coming back to try the other flavours and get a cookie sammie too. read more

The first time I tried to go, there was a line down the block which I didn't feel like waiting in. The next day, I lined up right before they opened. I got the burnt toffee, lychee rosewater raspberry, and Totaro ice cream. I also got the oatmeal, peanut butter, birthday cake, and ginger cookies. I came for the ice cream, but the cookies surprised me by being equally amazing. The ice cream flavors were so unique and delicious. The cookies had wonderful depth of flavor and the perfect chewy texture that I loved. My personal favorite cookies were the peanut butter and oatmeal cookie. I would definitely return to try their entire menu. read more
