    A Dozen Mixed Truffles

"I have this theory that chocolate slows down the ageing process .... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?" - Unknown Now that is a sentiment I can get behind. Or as one of my most favourite cartoon characters, Lucy Van Pelt from the Peanuts gang would say "All I really need is love...but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!" Most recently I was lucky enough to have a gift package of chocolate nirvana from Delight bestowed upon me as a thank you for participating in a panel discussion at a conference. Talk about a good taste thank you gift. Delight is just that, a delight. This small little chocolate pocket tucked quietly away in the Junction on Dundas St. W. opened up a couple of years ago. I have frequented the shop on many occasion as it is not far from my work hood. They bake brownies fresh daily and when you walk through the door only to be greeted with the wafting scent of baking brownies it is easy to be seduced by the shop. The proprietors at Delight take great pride in using only fair trade ingredients including Harmony Organic Cream and chocolate from La Siembra. The end results speak for themselves. The truffles are like butter in their consistency. It is melt in your mouth ambrosia at its very best. There are a few seats in the shop so you can sit and enjoy a hot chocolate and double dose your chocolate desires with a warm brownie. Organic ice cream is also available, served up in handmade waffle cones. If you find yourself venturing out this way then I would encourage to stop in and treat yourself. As usual...my pic crazed self has pasted up a shot of those truffles. Be prepared to salivate.

chocolate peanut butter and lemon meringue pie

Had intended to go to a similar joint nearby as part of a strategically planned road trip but it was closed (won't give them the press by naming them). We were walking back to the car when we spotted this charming little space. I would call it a very happy accident. I'm not someone who would normally order vegan ice cream, so I'm fortunate I didn't notice it was vegan until I was half way through as I might have balked and went with some chocolates instead. I tried a scoop of lemon meringue pie and was blown away with the taste and texture. The chocolate peanut butter was superb as well. Thank you, Delight. You saved the day.

Best strawberry ice cream I have ever tasted!

Chocolates, and ice cream and caramels - oh my! Delight is filled with hand made creations of delightfully delicious proportions! The ice cream is made in house, and so far I have tried Rhubarb - which was surprisingly tart for an ice cream, and had wonderful rhubarb flavour. The second visit I had the strawberry and it was, hands down, the best strawberry ice cream I have ever had. Made from local strawberries they cooked and made into ice cream a few days before, the freshness and incredible flavour was so delicious that I savoured every bit! It was actually chocolates that inspired my visit to Delight because they sell Raspberry Jam filled dark chocolates and that is hubby's favourite, but it is hard to find. So I bought him a box with a selection of those offered that day, including Ginger (which he adored), Caramel and Smoked Sea Salt (also a hit), Chili Lemon (surprisingly spicy but tasty), Peanut Butter (a must try for peanut butter lovers), and of course, some raspberry filled (which are perfect for those who love raspberry and dark chocolate) I also bought him one of their 6 layer bars, which have caramel and chocolate and I don't know what else, because hubby ate it so fast!. I also bought some jam, and when we opened it, it tasted wrong, not bad, but not like strawberry jam, so I emailed Delight and received a prompt apologetic reply, saying there was a batch that was overcooked (which killed the strawberry flavour) and they thought they had removed all of the jars but obviously missed one. They told me to bring it back for a full refund and a free jar of caramel sauce. That was a kind gesture showing great customer service. When I returned the jam, I ended up getting more bars, and chocolate and ice cream... well played Delight, I see what you did there! Even without needing to do a return, I will be back.

One word: YUMMY! I went here to review the chocolates and interview the owner and I found a wonderous shop full of chocolate delights. Each chocolate is hand made and filled with fillings they make themselves. They even make chocolate lollipops and cookie-cutter chocolates. They have chocolate boxes to hold the chocolates and best of all - ICE CREAM. The ice cream is all hand made on the premesis by the husband of the woman who makes the chocolates. The one I tried - chocolate naturally was amazing. This ice cream was like having a chocolate orgasm in your mouth. The chocolate flavour was rich and clear with none of the sweetness or chemical taste you can get off some ice creams. The single scop I got in a cup came with a fantastic dark chocolate flower which was also yummy. The perfect treat for a hot summer day.

Hot chocolate like liquid gold! I swear, it is a thing of stunning beauty when you're walking down the street and actually have to STOP and lean on a nearby building/garbage can/person because the hot chocolate you are drinking is SO good, you just.......need to pause. This is what happened to me after having the hot chocolate from Delight in the Junction. It's a great little chocolate shop that sells individual chocolates, brownies, and all things chocolaty. But here's the great part: everything is hand made, not overly expensive, totally organic and fair trade. So it's chocolate without guilt....oh, except the whole fat/sugar thing. I suppose there should be guilt there? Meh, whatever.

The aesthetic and the attention to detail when it comes to these desserts flawless, and exceptional. I enjoyed every single bite of my dessert. For drinks, we got hot chocolates, and they had one of the best hot chocolates I've ever tasted, and I'm not exaggerating. It was the perfect drink and taste to eat my dessert. Location: The location is very pretty, but it's pretty casual. The seating is pretty close to other guests in the restaurant or tables of two if I'm not mistaken. This is a perfect place to go with friends or family or on a quick date or by yourself. This place looked like it was located on a main street with street parking, but because I was visiting in Toronto, I'm not sure how the parking works as we took Uber. Service: The service was great, and they were very friendly and answered any questions regarding the desserts on display to help us pick the perfect one for ourselves. They also brought the food to our table, including the drinks. I 100% would go back to this location.

The strawberry shortcake is fluffy, just the right about of cream and sweetness. The matcha tiramisu is rich in matcha flavour and just the right amount of sweet to offset the bitter matcha. The regular tiramisu has a strong and balanced coffee flavour. The black sesame cake has a great texture and strong black sesame flavour. I enjoy vanilla addition too. The mango cheesecake is really smooth and a real mango flavour (no artificial flavour). It's been popular when I bring cakes to gatherings , but I also enjoy popping by to grab a slice. They have 50% off older slices which is a steal if you visit on the right day. Haven't tried their cafe food or drinks but they do have a nice ambiance and seating.

I started going to Holy Choco when they first opened and their service was really good from some of the owner. Super attentive and caring staff. The interior is nicely decorated with a cute angel photo op in the back, and window bar seats and couches to choose from. Great spot for 2-4 people. Despite the…read moresparse selection, the stale bulk candy and the expired goods, I came here because I loved the idea of an independent candy store. I will never again enter this business. I spent over $50 on a few items. The owner gave me an itemized receipt. As I was leaving the store, I saw that I was charged for the jumbo version of two items I purchased. I went back to the owner and respectfully showed him the receipt and the items. He was incredibly defensive, scanned the item and showed me the item was marked at the price it should be, but still showed as 'jumbo.' I asked him to scan the jumbo item so I could see I was not being charged for a jumbo and it truly was a system error. He scanned it and nothing was showing up. I'm not entirely sure on this point - but I feel like he was trying to enter a higher price for the jumbo as I stood there so he could justify the incorrect price. I asked for either a refund or to be given the jumbo item since that's what I was being charged for. I don't care if there's an error in your system. Fix it - it's not my problem. The real problem was how this was dealt. The owner wouldn't let me get two words in. He spoke over me for a solid 5 minutes. I kept asking if I could be given the courtesy of explaining what was wrong since he clearly wasn't understanding. I said 'I've been shopping here for ten years. Can you please just let me explain what the problem is without talking over me?" And he said "I don't care. This store's been open for 25 years. It doesn't need you." I was floored. Just a verbal barrage of condescension and abuse. It's a shame. Ten years of patronage out the drain. It's funny that he wrote a review on here asking patrons to give the store another chance. After that display, I'm making it my mission to spread the word on how you shouldn't. The service was the worst I've ever experience in my life. Half the items I purchased are literally expired. Everything is insanely marked up ($10 for a 180g chocolate bar, $3.29 for a regular sized push pop that's not imported). You can also find most everything elsewhere. Bulk barn has a great selection of Jelly Belly's. Also - check your receipts before leaving.
