    Full house cruffle
    Yuan Z.

We last visited here one year ago and had a great experience, so we decided to come back this year while we are in town. Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed: the service isn't as good as before: it took multiple times for the staff to get that we are ordering cruffle not waffle. The food is a bit disappointing too: I had the full house cruffle but all three flavors tasted the same: very sweet and nothing too distinct.

    Fondue Ferris wheel
    Emma H.

Whoever came up with the idea of serving fondue in a ferris wheel is definitely a marketing genius, lol. I too, along with many foodie influencers (more legit than me), fell into the photo envy craze of the stunning fondue ferris wheel. I'd first noticed it while walking to The Alley for milk tea on a rainy day, and saw a couple sitting at the bar seat facing the window, spinning a bronze gold wheel. "Is that a ferris wheel? We need to come here some day", I told my boyfriend - who hurried me along to our destination, while I held a yearning look of envy as I begrudgingly dragged my feet past the dessert shop. Of course I had to do my research on what that menu item was. The fondue comes in three sizes - Small, Medium, and Large. The Ferris Wheel option is only available for the two latter sizes, whereas the Small option comes on a plate. For the #gram, most people end up ordering the larger ones :). The first time we went in the shop hoping to order the fondue wheel, we were actually turned away by one of the employees. It was a busy weekend evening, and we were told it would take at least 30 min to prep. The employee said that the lengthy preparation time of cutting up fruits and desserts for the fondue wheel was stressful to the staff, and that usually people end up just taking the picture and don't end up finishing the actual food. They recommended us to go for the smaller plate instead, or to go back another time. That experience left me confused and unsure, and I actually had to rethink the purchase for a while. Eventually on a spontaneous day I said ,f*ck it, yolo, I'm just going to order it, and fortunately it was a different employee this time who was actually very excited to hear our order. We got the medium size (choose 3 dips and 6 toppings). Went with the basics and got milk, dark, and white chocolate sauces, and for the toppings: strawberry, banana, kiwi, brownie bites, halal marshmallows, and pineapples. I was skeptical about kiwi with chocolate and actually double checked with the employee if that was an alright combo. "Try it :) Maybe you'll like it." he replied. And I did, lol. Surprisingly I placed the kiwi and brownie bites tied in first place in terms of favorability. Kiwi went well with milk chocolate, while the warmed up melty brownie bites complemented well with dark chocolate. Pineapple was my least favourite, as it was just too acidic. Banana was sweet in a bland and muted way, and so all I really could taste was the chocolate sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy and dense texture of the marshmallows, and how well that went with any of the chocolate dips. After I tried 1-2 pieces of each topping, I found myself picking at the toppings like play-food, reluctant to having any more, and the words of the first employee rang in my mind. I guess it's not that people only wanted to take the picture, but it's that the ferris wheel portion is good for 3-7 people, because the sweetness can get too rich too fast. Also, after the initial visual-wow factor faded away, I quickly realized that this was really just under 10$ of fruit that was able to be charged 3x the price for by changing up what it's being served on. Would I go again? By myself, not likely. With a group that wants a quick fruity/sweet bite after dinner and a quiet place to chill/talk, maybe. If I do visit on my own though, the next item to try would be their banana milkshake...I heard it's pretty darn good.

Holy Choco started in Montreal. This Toronto location is their second, opened 2023-02-10. I've been curious about the desserts at Holy Choco. We finally came on 2023-07-13 to try them. They have quite a variety of desserts such as crepes, croffles, savory croffles, waffles, cheesecake, ice cream, milkshakes, hot drinks, cold drinks, sandwiches, and even sushi! Of course every dessert must have some chocolate in it. Of course I just had to try the sushi! Sushi with chocolate?!! We ordered the following: 1. Queen Berry Croffle ($17.95). 2. Sushi Crepe (7 pieces, $16.95). 3. Triple Berry Smoothie (medium, $10.95). 4. Mango Juice (medium, $5.50). The croffle was crispy and the fruits were fresh. I thought there was too much caramel Belgium chocolate syrup on it. I don't think I liked the cream cheese on it. The Sushi Crepe comes with chopsticks. Instead of dipping in soya sauce, you dip in rich melted Belgium chocolate. The Triple Berry Drink was good. The Mango Juice was a little thin. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor seating. The counter seats have electrical plugs so you can plug in your laptop and cell phones. There is also a photography area with angel wings. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. There are high chairs for small children. Review 2023-229

    4 cheesecakes
    Janine W.

I'd like to thank Yelp and the owners of holy Choco for hosting a free event for yelpers. It was generous and much appreciated. I will just post what I got a taste of. My favourite was the berry crepe 16.50. Filled with strawberries and pistachios on top. Super yummy and big enough to share. I also really liked their croffle (croissant dough pressed into the waffle iron) I had the smoked salmon. It was very tasty. But I don't know if I'd want to pay 19.50 for it. The cheesecake was good but not outstanding and the waffle was tasty but the crepe was better to me. But if you like waffles they are good too. The selection on the menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. Would I go back? Hmm I think so especially for the berry crepe. Fun to share with another. Also Staff was very helpful and friendly. He barely get out of the way of cutting it before we charged in to get a piece. Hard when there was only 1 of each dessert and like 10 plus people to try it.

    Nutella Croffle

This place does chocolate desserts, croffles and crepes! I got the Nutella croffle which was simple but delicious. Service is a little on the slower side but I think it's because it takes a while to make the croffle. I didn't get it this time but I heard their Queen Berry croffle is the most popular. I haven't yet tried their other options but will definitely revisit!

    Fettuccini
    Tam-My N.

The fettuccini crepe was spectacular! It tastes just like the ones in Europe that are buttery and soft! The ice cream added a very nice addition to it alongside the chocolate drizzle. The brownie sandwich is something I wouldn't get again though. It wasn't chewy and too cakey. The fruits were also not as fresh. The chocolate pearls added a nice texture to the dish, which made it a bit less mushy. Service was very nice but a bit slow. The seating area was also really messy and dirty. There were smudges on our glass and the menus were really worn down.

A friend and I happened to stumble here while looking for a dessert spot in DT, and we were so glad we did! The staff were very kind and attentive, and we got to chat with the owner who was very welcoming. The food was delicious and well priced, and the vibe inside with nice and cozy. I would definitely come again and try more items on the menu!

    Belgian hot chocolate

My friends and i were on our way to another dessert place when we came upon Holy Choco by chance. It was so cold and windy that we decided to hang out there instead since it was right in front of us. And a good thing this freezing cold weather forced us to the nearest dessert shelter lol. Holy Choco opened its door in Toronto 3 weeks ago. It has a casual vibe, making it relaxing while hanging out with friends. The menu is extensive, and we ended ordering fondue for 5 people. We each chose our choice of chocolate dip such as dark chocolate, milk and white chocolate. Next we choose the ingredients for dipping. There were various fruits as well as waffle and marshmallow. I wished those items were listed on the menu though. We all really enjoyed dipping the fruits into the chocolate. My favorite was dipping pineapple into the milk chocolate. Who knew! Furthermore, those chocolate dips were not too sweet, so it tasted delicious! My friend ordered a white belgian hot chocolate, but they forgot the topping, but came with the marshmallow to top up the drink. Overall, i would definitely go back if i want dessert, and something fun.

So the bear itself in the affogato was a solid icy chunk of milk (coz we chose the milk flavour) that just frozen. We added the affogato on top of it and while it looked aesthetic, the dessert didn't make sense at all. We were unable to break the frozen chunk or be able to mix it with the coffee and the coffee mixed with that frozen chunk submerged tasted really bad. Paying $16 for that wasn't worth it at all. The bingsu was good though. We got the mango bingsu bowl and it came loaded with mangoes and a marshmallow and an oreo cookie to make it look pretty! I don't think I'd come back to try anything else here. Was a little disappointed.

We ordered the Bananarama and Coco Vanil. They are both awesome, although if I could only choose one, I'd go with Bananarama. It was amazing. I'll be coming back for more in the days to come. The service was fantastic. The individual that helped me was very nice. She had several recommendations. There is a nice patio to enjoy your treat, along with the views. I got the Avalanche (Skor,Cheesecake, and Caramel) and I loved that they stretched the dough when we ordered and then start frying it right there. It really ensures that we get freshly fried Beaver Tails at the peak of their deliciousness. After I got mine slathered with the toppings I ordered, I dug in and as expected, it's really hot but SOOOOO good. It's like the concept of a donut only thinner and crispier, thus resulting in a much better texture and crunch throughout which I very much prefer over a donut actually. The cheesecake spread mingling with the sweet caramel, crunchy toffee bits, and crispy hot dough is just such a perfect combination. It's a bit of a mess to eat but sooooo worth it. It really is such a shame that there isn't an establishment like this in NYC because it could seriously do some REALLY good numbers over here I reckon. I HAVE to get this again when I come back up to Canada (unless ya'll want to build a place down across the border haha).

I stopped by Kream after seeing all the hype on Instagram about the famous Korean "Dubai…read morechocolate." When I saw the price was $9.90 per chocolate, I was honestly a little surprised, bc it's sold under 7 per chocolate in Korea. But they were running a promotion until the 15th -- 5 for $30 -- which made it much more reasonable. I've never had the original version sold in Korea, so I can't compare it directly, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems pretty similar to what's trending there. Korean reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and people say it tastes just like the viral version. The texture is definitely chewy, just like the name suggests, and it's very sweet. Personally, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's just my preference. That being said, I gave some as gifts and they absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy rich, sweet desserts -- or you're looking for something trendy and fun to share -- this would be a great choice. The shop itself is small and cozy, but very welcoming. The staff were friendly and made the experience pleasant. Overall, even though it's not exactly my personal favorite flavor-wise, I can understand the hype. It's a fun treat to try at least once, especially if you've been curious about the viral Korean Dubai chocolate trend. I'd recommend stopping by and taking advantage of the promo while it lasts!
