Highly advise folks to not waste their time at this Demtres location. I have never experienced such rude, dismissive and poor service from not one, not two but 3 workers. It was very unexpected as the establishment was fully staffed in the kitchen and the floor. We were seated outside, and the only decent and kind worker was the man who took our order. He ended up working the inside of the floor shortly after he took our order. This will be server A. It took 30 mins for my group and I to pay for our bill. We had to ask 3 different servers (B,C,D) for our bill and a take out box. Each time we asked, there was a 20 mins wait in between each time before we decided to ask another server for our bill. The first time we asked, server B asked who our original server was and never came back outside for any clarification or take out box. 20 mins passed and we asked server C for a bill and take out box. We watched the same servers walk by us and handle other table's bills. There were tables seated after us, and managed to leave before us. Server C came back and we were finally able to pay at 10:30pm but alas, still no take out box. We waited patiently after paying before we flagged server D and kindly requested a take out box. And that server never came back outside as well. I had to walk inside with the plate in hand and humiliatingly requested a take out box again for the soggy and pathetic leftovers in my hands. The three servers, (B,C,D) were standing by the kitchen/prep area. Server C said, 'Yes, one second,' and walked away - away from kitchen that had the take out boxes behind her. Servers B and D simply made eye contact with me and walked away. Server A, now in the kitchen area, asked us how long we've been waiting outside for. Mind you, he took our order at around 8pm when the sun was still out, and saw us walk in close to 11pm when it was dark. He was kind enough to offer some ice cream as compensation for the poor service which I refused as it was not his fault that his coworkers treated us dismissively and rudely. 0/10 would not recommend this place. The food was good but the service was unsatisfactory. There was a lack of care and attention to customers that did not kick up any fuss, or had any insufferable dietary restrictions or requests. Decided to give this place a visit for a nostalgic dessert hang after years. Everything is pretty much the same in terms of vibes, service, and portions. Their menu has remained the same, but this time around I noticed a few trendy items which was fun. They also have 4 different kinds of waffles to choose from too -- from Belgian, liege, and croffle. I ordered their new ube flavour (not sure if this is a limited time offering) croffle. I was so glad I got the croffle because I really enjoyed the chewy texture. I tried my friend's liege and it was really heavy and had a bit more of a savoury taste. The ice cream scoops they give are also huge. The price is slightly higher, I guess it's the inflation after all these years... after tax and tip the one waffle cost me almost $30 which to me is insane for dessert. I have to say, no matter what time, this place is busy and crowded with people. Good thing we were able to be seated. We ordered two different desserts to try. Here's the thing - I am never too sure about Demetres. The downtown Markham location probably has the most breathtaking interior designs of all the desert stores, but I find the food underwhelming and way too overpriced. Also, they don't serve espresso drinks on ice. I asked for an iced latte, but apparently it only comes as a hot beverage, which was very bizarre (especially since they do serve their special iced coffee drink, which costs 11 dollars, if I remember correctly). I suspect that the drinks were premade and they don't have an espresso machine? But that doesnt add up since they do have affogato on the menu... The waffle is a bit too soggy and lacks flavour (it is priced at like 21 dollars I think). I only give it three stars for its decor. read more

Always a great time to be at demetres! We went after watching a movie with two other people. On the outside, they had a lot of empty tables but when we arrived, there was a long long waiting. Not sure exactly why? We waited probably about 20 minutes and when we got inside, there were still empty tables so not sure what was happening there. Decor was alright, there's an open kitchen and you can see the staff making your waffles and crepes right there. We ordered the fudge waffle and it did not disappoint - fudgey, gooey and paired perfectly well with the warm waffle. The portion is pretty big and it's very sweet- the chocolate was good! But overall wasn't very inspiring. Dish was pricey but not particularly special or niche or unique. The new summer menu is very refreshing! The tartness of the ice cream brings a really nice balance to the desserts. The crepe was super creamy and paired so well with the strawberry ice cream and toppings. The croissant was a bit denser than I had imagined and not as flaky, but the ice cream really saved the day. Upon entering, first impressions were definitely everything! The decor is absolutely stunning - from the architectural arrangements, to the bold flower wallpaper, to the matching pastel furniture. Such an Instagram-worthy spot, minus the old school carpet which was a little out of place. Since the menu is the same across all locations with the same prices, you might as well pay this location a visit for the ambience. Service wasn't anything to rave about but was quite good. We were seated with menus and water and given ample time to review the menu before ordering so there was no rushing. Everything also came out correctly as ordered, with the beautiful plating as you'd expect for this price point and came out in a timely manner. As always, portions were huge and perfect for sharing. Taste-wise, things were spot on as well. Place was overall kept clean, no complaints there. Some tables could have been better distanced in my opinion; but I did like the area we were seated which was all the way in the back, half booth and half chairs. Nothing's better than a tart lemon and blueberry dessert to kick off the summer! As usual, the customer service at Demetres was fast and polite despite it being busy. I always enjoy their beautiful pastel & floral decor too. I got the My Main Squeeze Belgian Waffle since it's one of their summertime specials. The generous scoop of lemon meringue ice cream was perfectly tart and paired well with the fresh blueberries. The little bits of meringue were delicious. The waffle had a nice soft chew though if they left it for an extra minute or two, there would have been a bonus crunch factor which was missing. I went for desserts after watching movies across the street. On a weekend night, it was super busy and would definitely recommend joining the waitlist online prior to arrival. After around a 30 min wait, we were seated - the interior is quite spacious. We got the Pomme Pilot waffle and The Last Straw waffle. The Pomme Pilot was a classic mix of apple and ice cream, on top of a waffle. The waffle was light and crispy, though I wish there was a bit more of the cinnamon and caramel flavour. While our server explained the situation to us, the dishes did take a bit long to arrive and asking for the bill involved multiple attempts as it was forgotten. The prices are a bit steep as well so this is not a place I would frequent often for desserts. read more

Although I live in Richmond Hill, I don't mind driving the extra Km's to this location. One reason was due to its fine renovation, high ceiling, comfortable seating and open concept. The more important reason was due to the attentiveness, efficiency and friendliness of its staff. I must explicitly mention the hard work and professionalism of Kingsley. I was delighted to have him serving my table again on 2025/11/26. I thought he was not working here any more (having not seen him in multiple prior visits). On top of the regular order, I bought many gift cards of various amounts this time. Kingsley was able to quickly fill our dine-in order. While we were enjoying the sweet, he quickly completed my order of gift cards. He patiently waited till we finished eating before presenting the gift cards. Every single card was carefully labelled with its amount. He then explained the specific details, terms and conditions. Thanks! I was fully satisfied, contrary to a prior experience in another Demetres where the associate ended up making multiple calls, manipulating the computer and giving me a pile of (mixed up) gift cards after at least half an hour, leaving me the suspicion whether the actual and proper amounts were programmed into the cards. I also remembered another occasion that Kingsley was the only staff working on a very busy March-break afternoon (poor management arrangement indeed!). He was working fast with high precision: greeting customers, taking orders, filling orders, processing payments, cleaning tables, etc., as if there were four people working there. Not until an hour or so later, more staff finally came in, but Kingsley continued to work as hard, outpacing the others, in my opinion. Cross table discussions among customers (i.e. strangers unknown to one another) admired his ability. Kingsley should definitely be given the opportunity to undertake higher roles and more responsibilities. read more

Came here for dessert with a friend for a Friday night because it's open late (12AM)! I've known this franchise to be catered toward those with a sweet tooth. The menu had SO many options but essentially you can customize your order to switch out ice cream flavours or syrups, which I love. I arrived at 8pm and was seated right away since the place wasn't busy. Staff were quick to bring water and menus, and gave us a few minutes to decide what to order. They were kind enough to bring us to one of the best seats in the house, a booth area by the back wall's floral mural. Utensils were already set up at the tables. My friend customized their order by switching out the ice cream flavour and asking for the syrup on the side. Both our orders came within 20 minutes with generous portions! The cheesecake was more of a soft light cream cheese filling, rather than a dense cheesecake. We did not feel a need to top up on any syrup for the cheesecake as it was already very sweet. The liège waffle was a nice flaky texture and perfectly topped off with a HEAP of warm cinnamon apples. If you don't have a strong sweet tooth, I recommend getting the butter caramel sauce on the side to add as needed. The white chocolate silk ice cream was smooth and decadent. Recommend you go hungry, otherwise you may not finish your order. We ordered coffee after finishing most of our desserts (around 10pm). Standard hot caffeinated drinks, not too strong. Our server kindly notified us that their shift was ending and we asked for the bill. We were advised that we could stay seated at the booth after paying.
