It was a beautiful, sunny day and we felt like grabbing some ice cream. There aren't too many options in this area, so it wasn't too difficult a decision to stop into Demetres. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, we finally settled on the Katy Berry ("One Scoop Sundae served with Strawberry Blush Ice Cream, Fresh Strawberries, Belgian White Chocolate Sauce"). It arrived about ten minutes later and certainly looked appealing. And yeah, it's a quality sundae. The strawberries were maybe a little too tart and the white chocolate sauce got way too hard, but otherwise it's a solid concoction. The strawberry ice cream is the highlight, as it's creamy and packed with strawberry flavor. I also quite enjoyed the fresh-tasting cone, and the bites with strawberry and cone were extremely satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient, too. I went on a date to Demetres with my partner for nostalgia as we used to go there in high school. We ordered our favourite - a sundae - the Summertime Fatness - a brownie sundae. It came in a giant glass just like it always did. The presentation was classic with a whip cream and a cherry and waffle cone on top. We were happy with the portion size - the perfect amount for two. It was tasty! The ice cream was rich and delicious and the brownie pieces were fresh. I like that the restaurant was nut safe as this can be hard to find. What happened to you demetres? You used to be a relaxed place to hang out and get huge portions of food. Today I came here thinking I was coming to the same chill environment but turns out it's a little more stuffy with small food portions to boot! We ordered the Strawberry Nutella crepe, that came as a small portion and was served on a small plate..with strawberries on the top only, not even on the inside! Talk about basic. All this for the "low" price of $19...needless to say, I left HUNGRY and disappointed. On a positive note, our server was excellent and service was very fast.. Oh. Hot. DAMN. This Demetre is my JAM. Boyfriend and I stopped because clearly we don't gym and would prefer to eat sweet, succulent dessert instead. We walked in around 9:00 on a Wednesday and it was relatively busy! The waitress was really nice and seated us quickly. Their menus btw, are FANCY. Every time I'm amazed by the graphics because it makes me want to eat the menu itself. Anywho, I ordered the Moo La La with a Belgian Waffle and my boyfriend, I don't remember what he ordered because frankly I was too focused on my own food. We got these within 10 minutes and huba huba, it was quite an intimate moment between myself and my waffle. First glance, it was mesmerizing! Taste and portions were outstanding. Had to hold in tears while eating. 10/10 would recommend again. In any case, I always love going to Demetre, it it's definitely an "occasion" and not something you should spend time here every week. If you love chocolate and have a big appetite (the waffle is big and the brownie pieces are dense and will fill you up), this is probably a good choice. Coming from someone who has a huge sweet tooth, Caffe Demetres is absolutely fantastic. I got the Blush waffle and holy smokes, the waffle was just amazing. It had such a fresh taste to it and the waffle had just the right texture. It was soft, fluffy, and wasn't overly plain. The Belgin white chocolate sauce drizzled on top was very sweet as expected, but surely completed the meal. The Strawberry Royale ice cream was also very sweet, but the fresh strawberries toned it down a notch and were slightly sour. There is also wi-fi at Caffe Demetre, but you need to ask one of the workers to gain access to it. The waitress was extraordinarily friendly and continuously came by to see if my friend and I were doing fine and if we enjoyed our meals. If I could give 10 stars, I would. However I strongly suggest you never order take out from here out threw Uber eats or Door Dash at least during Covid 19, ordered 3 times, the food was absolutely terrible each timstone cold , stale waffles, overly frozen ice cream with ice crystals, and 2 of the 3 times I found hair in my food. I don't know what happened, but I would assume the staff got upset that they didn't get shut down for coronavirus, and instead turned their frustrations on the food they were making. This is the place to go to if you want to skip dinner and go straight to desert. Demetres will most definitely fill you up (I hope). The portions are HUGE, especially for their waffles and crepes. This is the second Cafe Demetre that I've visited, and this one was a much more pleasant experience than my first. It may be the location, which is in more of a downtown area than a massive shopping mall area, it may be the time of night we went, or it may have been the better level of service. This time we were a bit more intelligent than our previous visit as well, opting to split one dessert waffle between us, instead of each ordering something and overindulging. This made the evening much more pleasant, as we didn't feel overstuffed afterwards. Service was quick and fast, the dessert waffle was delicious. The manager of this location was incredibly attentive as well, making sure tables were arranged and getting turnarounds done much more quickly and calmly. My only advice is to share orders with your friends/family/lover... a sundae/crepe/waffle order all to myself is too much for even my giant sweet tooth to handle sometimes. I was there on this weekend and ordered the Tongue Depressor and was very disappointed with it. It is just one note chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. I should have read the ice description because for a dessert to have brownie pieces on top of it I would have never guessed it would also have brownie chunks in the ice cream. I barely got any ice cream due to the brownies in the Ice Cream. I was very unhappy with it. I mentioned to the server how disappointing and almost inedible (after a few bites of just ridiculous amount of chocolate) and she looked and said "too much chocolate". Which seems to me it had been a complaint she had heard before. I suggested if I could get a berry sauce to help add some other flavor dimension and she stated it would be an extra charge. There have been many changes to the Demetre's menu since we were last here and the changes are NOT for the better. I used to be able to order granita drinks which I loved. Not any more. I used to be able to top my ice cream desserts with nuts. Not any more. Only choice is praline, tiny little crumbs. The waiter said they had to take nuts off the menu due to people's nut allergies? I used to have a choice of fruits other than strawberries and banana. I loved kiwi and apple compote. Can't have that either. This is my go-to place for hangouts with friends in Etobicoke. The menu is to die for and you can split with friends or devour an entire plate of crepes, strawberries, whipped cream and icecream on your own (who cares about that waistline when the food is that good! Yum!) Pretty much everything on their menu is great. I always order a crepe with icecream, chocolate sauce, and strawberries. Their hot chocolate is EXCELLENT. My friend even compared it to the hot chocolate in Italy, which is the highest compliment she can think of. Service is great. Swift and always friendly. The servers are almost exclusively male. Only downside is the price. You're probably looking at $8-10 dollars for a crepe/waffle etc. Quite steep for desert. read more

It would make for a nice date spot; tables are best for just two, but bear in mind that you sit in close proximity to your fellow dessert seekers. The desserts are truly decadent.
