Apple pie and some brownie thing

It's been probably 15 years since I last came here. Still exactly as I remembered. The ice cream is rich and there's really no surprises. You know what you're getting and you shouldn't expect anymore or any less. Just a fun place to have a treat when the time is right!

Oh. Hot. DAMN. This Demetre is my JAM. Boyfriend and I stopped because clearly we don't gym and would prefer to eat sweet, succulent dessert instead. We walked in around 9:00 on a Wednesday and it was relatively busy! The waitress was really nice and seated us quickly. Their menus btw, are FANCY. Every time I'm amazed by the graphics because it makes me want to eat the menu itself. Anywho, I ordered the Moo La La with a Belgian Waffle and my boyfriend, I don't remember what he ordered because frankly I was too focused on my own food. We got these within 10 minutes and huba huba, it was quite an intimate moment between myself and my waffle. First glance, it was mesmerizing! Taste and portions were outstanding. Had to hold in tears while eating. 10/10 would recommend again. In any case, I always love going to Demetre, it it's definitely an "occasion" and not something you should spend time here every week. Just from a cost perspective (two items costed us $40 after tips) and your overall heart health, I would recommend coming here maybe once a month.

I love this place!! It opens pretty late so a perfect spot after dinner to sit and enjoy some delicious desserts. UPDATE** they discontinued some of their fresh mixed fruit desserts. It's just strawberries and bananas :( I miss their mixed fruit desserts so much (I dropped a star as a result) Their desserts are so awesome. Everything I've had so far is delicious. I love their fruits--- SUPER DUPER FRESH. Every time I come and order a dessert dish with fruits, it's always extremely fresh. I love that about them. If you have any cravings for desserts, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. FYI, if you need the wifi from this place, ask a server!! They'll gladly tell you.

Went here on a busy night with two friends to satisfy one of their sweet tooth cravings. We've come here a few times and have always had a good experience. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable while the seating can be a little tight. The servers were attentive and refilled water multiple times. The food was prepared relatively quick given that the place was packed. I ordered the Tongue Depressor on a waffle, cost about $20 including tax and tip. If you love chocolate and have a big appetite (the waffle is big and the brownie pieces are dense and will fill you up), this is probably a good choice. You get chocolate ice cream, white chocolate buttons, chocolate brownies, and chocolate sauce (a lot of chocolate right?) A lighter but also satisfying choice is The Last Straw (crepe option) that my friend ordered. Accompanied with fresh strawberries, fruit coulis, and vanilla ice cream, it's hard to go wrong with it.

LIVE. LOVE. SWEETS! If you are looking for a place to be put in a sugar induced coma, this is it. I have been here to get my sugar fix too many times to count. Sometimes there is a short wait but nothing unbearable. The service is always speedy and professional. The food is a marvel, and it never fails to amaze. This is an amazing place for deserts!

Coming from someone who has a huge sweet tooth, Caffe Demetres is absolutely fantastic. I got the Blush waffle and holy smokes, the waffle was just amazing. It had such a fresh taste to it and the waffle had just the right texture. It was soft, fluffy, and wasn't overly plain. The Belgin white chocolate sauce drizzled on top was very sweet as expected, but surely completed the meal. The Strawberry Royale ice cream was also very sweet, but the fresh strawberries toned it down a notch and were slightly sour. There is also wi-fi at Caffe Demetre, but you need to ask one of the workers to gain access to it. The waitress was extraordinarily friendly and continuously came by to see if my friend and I were doing fine and if we enjoyed our meals. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Caffe Demetre should expect many more visits from me in the future!

Coffee Demetres was my childhood favourite treat... and somehow it never gets old! The quality of the ice cream and waffles here are so good. I always get either the Moo La La (NUTELLA) or the Tongue Depressor (BROWNIES) with either a waffle or crepe. So good!

The first time back to Demetre's in over a year (my second choice for dessert since Spin was closed) and not much has changed. The service was okay, the dessert wasn't bad, but nothing exciting. Same old Demetre's, just the way I left it. Used to have the dessert game on lock, but with so many other dessert options out there, Demetre's, you've got to step it up!

Wow... their waffle is so big!! I don't know if this picture can show how big it is because the pecan nut tart that my friend ordered which you can see behind the waffle is also big. Lol I definitely recommend this strawberry vanilla ice cream waffle to everybody! The waffle was crunchy outside and fluffy inside... it is the perfect work. I've had a lot of so-so waffle, which were sometimes a bit raw inside or like a store-bought frozen waffle, but this one is the best! Even though it has ice cream on top, it didn't get badly soggy, and the quality of every ingredient was so good. I changed the strawberry sauce to chocolate sauce, and this tuned out a really nice combination too. The chocolate sauce on top of the ice cream was crunchy, and that added a nice texture. I will come back again for the waffle!

It tasted low quality and a bit artificial in my opinion.  The portions were huge, and one order can be shared between two people. Big Joe's, yes, yet also a sweet line up of chocolate truffles and ice cream and dairy free options too. To my surprise, the dairy free options were exactly as the shop name conveys, delightful. Their blackberry and lavender ice cream... Oh my goodness. It's like you're in a wildflower field in the summertime. Anything lavender typically renders thoughts of summer and sun! I haven't tried other flavours apart from the strawberry. However they all seem rather tasty. I most recently visited with a chocolate sea salt caramel on my brain (funny how after a trip to the dentist all I want is candy and chocolate.) and yes, their big Joe's, which are currently being revamped. I also picked up a pint of their Ontario Strawberry dairy free ice cream.... Der-lish! They feature other staples like candied nuts and local honey in support of the Ontario Farming Community. All in all this little shoppe is very attractive. Look at those curtains that communicate warmth and a happy invite. Luckily they had all the flavours we wanted to try. The original is fantastic!! Tiramisu with the right textures, rich but light cream, and not too sweet (the ultimate asian praise). We also tried pistachio which was not my favourite personally. I think it could have been more nutty but I know it's one of the more popular ones. I had a bite of earl grey and WOW I want to get that one again so I can really taste it thoroughly. I love the idea of earl grey flavoured anything. I'm so biased but there you have it. Really great cakes in decent portions. It's a bit pricy so definitely more of a rare treat I think. I wouldn't be just buying one for snacking regularly. I understand though that the owner behind the cakes took a lot of time to source authentic ingredients, so the price could be well justified. They also make everything fresh in small batches.

It looked like a place that has not changed in many decades- so it had a vintage vibe. During my visit, it was quite busy as it was just after 12 noon on Saturday. I read that this place has very good pastries, so that is what I decided to purchase. There were two friendly ladies working behind the counter, so I called one of them to ask for help. She informed me that each item is priced by weight, so after confirming the prices, I purchased three cannolis (three different flavours) and one cream-filled doughnut. Then she let me know that I can pay for them at the checkout close to the exit. After paying for the items, I brought them home to try with my husband. We enjoyed both items- however, if we had to pick our favourite, it would be the cannolis. The exterior was so crunchy (and very satisfying) and the filling was smooth and creamy. Each flavour had the right amount of sweetness to satisfy our cravings! The doughnut was good- it had the smooth and creamy custard filling, but the dough tasted a bit hard (so it was not as pillowly as we thought). The staff working in the food area appeared unfriendly and unwelcoming. During my visit, the employee at the deli handled my sliced mortadella carelessly, which came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. The cashier also lacked basic customer service skills--there was no greeting, no smile, and no "thank you" at the end of the transaction. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but customer-facing staff represent the business and set the tone for the customer experience. Good food can bring people in, but poor service can make customers think twice about returning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and invests in improving the overall customer service experience.
