Quite interesting dessert! The ice cream and toppings are flavourful. And the chimney cone is really interesting. It feels like you are having soft serve in a small crispy croissant. This flavour wasn't too sweet so if you want something fruity & coconut flavour try this. My friend tried Dubai chocolate sundae which was a little sweet for him. Very interesting concept for ice cream. The handmade "cones" are probably the highlight of the whole experience since the ice cream is not too different than the other places. Kids loved the ice cream and destroyed it in no time. My only issue is that the girl at the counter didn't use any gloves to prepare the chimney. That's concerning when it comes to hygiene. Didn't even notice it initially but it struck me as an afterthought after we left. The interior is a bit dim so it's best to enjoy the outside on a good day. read more

Both the chimney cake and ice cream on their own were top notch, but I wish I had gotten them separately or just the chimney cake. It was super messy and hard to eat while walking. The cake got soggy from the ice cream pretty quickly, lost all its freshness, and then allowed the ice cream to leak out and run down my hand easier. Also, it was way too much ice cream. My favourite is their Reese peanut butter ice cream cone. You get a good amount of nuts and peanut butter in every bite of the cone. Instead of a generic waffle cone, they use batter comparable to a churro and fry it. Then they fill the "chimney" with ice cream and toppings of your choice. A little pricey but worth it -- you get so much more than your average ice cream cone! I got the Birthday Cake, which had Nutella stuffed inside the "chimney", rainbow sprinkles, cake batter ice cream, hot fudge drizzle, and an actual chunk of cake on top. Delicious, but be advised -- VERY MESSY. I ate it on the walk back to my car and got chocolate all over myself. (The bottom has a hole in it.) If you're like me, and your shirt attracts whatever you're eating, or if you have a toddler, it's probably best to sit down and eat this. Sweet chimneys, salty flavored chimneys they will have it! It is amazing to see how the hand roll and cook the chimneys, secret dough, then roll on yummy sugar and off to cook! You can see it all! Plus they use the wall for placing the chimneys! This is definitely an artisan dessert that needs to be preserved. Owners got the recipe from their Grandmother back in Budapest, Eva. 4.5 I love chimney cones! It's pricey at $9 a cone, but it sure is delicious! They were at street eats this past weekend at Scarborough Town Centre (food truck festival outside the parking lot) - unfortunately just for the weekend, but fortunately I was able to attend!! The ice cream was delicious as always. Soft creamy ice cream with the crispy, dough-y sugar-y chimney cone. My favourite flavours are the original (pictured), as well as the matcha. I've also tried the berry compote flavour. Got the classic cone and was not disappointed. The way the cone is prepared is super authentic to its Hungarian heritage, and the taste is unbelievably good. It's very pricey though...$9 a cone - YIKES. This is what makes it lose a star for me. However, they are definitely one of my favourite ice cream places in Toronto! Hope they'll be opening some more uptown pop ups throughout the fall! It's an awesome treat to enjoy. read more

I have basically been coming here for 2-3 weeks straight, so clearly I have a problem... LOL And I come with at least 2 or 4 people each time... so its always a party! But seriously (I have) ... I usually go with their 'twist' of vegan vanilla soft serve & strawberry yogurt. Its perfect balance of sweetness and light airy texture doesn't make me feel guilty eating them in large cups, so I also add the salt caramel sauce I've bought the vegan cake separately (which is a larger version of their cone with no filling) & really enjoy it with coffee They ALSO have Beyond the Meat vegan burgers available - via their in-store Big Poppa's coaffiliate. Also ordered a couple of these at another visit & can attest they are great toppings & patties! Prepare to line-up but its a short wait - the staff are VERY efficient Note: Just after 2-3 weeks of nearly straight day visits, I just realized they have a membership! Staff were nice, but that's where the positives stop. The plain chimney cakes are beyond bad: chewy, underdone, little spread on them. This is because the dough is not given time to raise after rolled on the chimney, and I am assuming the staff need training in what a proper chimney cake looks and tastes like. I wouldn't order the specialty cones, with the pieces of cheesecake or apple pie or cookie dough in them - next time just chimney cone, soft serve, ta-da done. Other than the wait, which is part of the appeal really, the only problem is these things leak like a sieve so treat it gentle - don't squeeze it, don't josh it, don't move it around. My new favorite ice cream based dessert!!! Finally something unique, the perfect amount of sweetness, and the presentation is appealing. An all around awesome experience that more than satisfied the sweet tooth. At first look, I wasn't sure I could finish one of these dessert cones on my own. For about $10 (this seems to be the going rate nowadays for fancy desserts), I really felt it was worth every penny. When I ordered, I was informed it would be ready in about 5 mins. I watched the entire process which made the 5 mins go fast. I love that the dessert is made to order and they do allow plenty of cooling time for the cone before putting the soft served ice cream in it. I did finish the dessert and enjoyed ever bite. I'm so glad it wasn't a heavy dessert and the sweetness wasn't overpowering. I absolutely loved the uniqueness. The place is adorable and the staff is very friendly. First thing that I must say about this place is WOW. I can't believe how great the Chimneys are here! I came here with a friend and was in the mood for something sweet to quench my cravings. Once I walked in the place, I must say, it has a great layout with glass showing the process of the chimneys being made and conveys a very clean process. The restrooms are clean, the artwork on the walls are tasteful and fits the establishment. I ordered the Lemon Berry Mascarpone and once I started eating it I just fell in love. Seems silly to say this but it's true. The flavors were a perfect match for what I wanted. These are ice cream and not yogurt. I'm even salivating at the writing of this. And I think it was a dirty in the seating space and ordering place because there was only one person working, she was delightful, but definitely on her own, which is rough. I have never had one of these before and so glad I was brought here by friends! The Chimneys come in 2 sizes - a regular which is ginormous and a mini which is like a regular sized cone (after a hefty meal). I went with something plain - vanilla soft serve with brownies and had my Chimney coated in cocoa, which was a bit hard to eat and be cute haha. They also have a bunch of suggested combinations that they make and have things like Chimney dogs and other items. Their Chimneys are made to order so you can see the dough and then watch them turn it into a Chimney and toast it up for you. It's really cool and super fast. You can choose between vanilla, chocolate, or a half and half soft serve and then tons of different toppings and combinations. The staff was super nice. You can order with a person at the front or use the automated system as well. The place was also super quaint and very cute. They have 2 wash rooms and free wifi. Definitely not bad and I'm glad I tried it for novelty purposes. It is made fresh which is really nice to see in house. Good texture but nothing like... "I'm craving this so hard..." Kinda feeling. The ice cream is okay, tried the cheesecake chimney and the top was vanilla and all the cheesecake was in the bottom cone. Not the best kind, a good mix would have been better. Stopped by to try out this place at around 8:30pm and there was only one person at that time. Props to him though because people started coming in and he had to take and make the orders but luckily everyone was patient. I ordered the funfetti cone as I am a big fan of anything sprinkles. I found it to be really filling, almost like a dish. It was really interesting as I have never had a cone like this before and so it was unique. I thought that the birthday cake topping didn't really have a strong flavor too it and the soft serve was mild in taste, I had to really focus on the ice cream to taste the vanilla. I'm not new to Eva's Chimney but I've never had a specialty cone or one all to myself (until now!) I tried their TIRAMISU flavor, in a regular-size. I had walked in with plans to grab a mini cone but was a little disappointed to find out that their DT location wasn't offering it. Either way, it was a little thrilling to hog a regular-size all to myself and I now consider this an accomplishment of mine (he). This cone was filled with mascarpone, lady fingers, and espresso to make it true to its name. I love how these tiramisu elements were soft in texture which contrasted the crunchiness of the doughnut cone itself. I also got this made to order, completely fresh, so my experience was elevated. Compared to their other decked out options, this combination adds a lot of flavor without adding too much added sweetness which was perfect for me. To finish it all off, they heavily dust the soft-serve with cocoa powder. Pro-tip: don't get too excited and inhale the cocoa powder on your first bite. Did this happen to me? Yes. Did I think my tombstone would read "DEATH MY ICE CREAM"? Absolutely yes. They've have closed off the shop so that there's only a small area for customers to come in one at a time for order and pickup. I like it. Ice cream on top, crispy hot pastry cone under it, with a little surprise at the end. They definitely know how to make it an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Normally when I get a dessert it's like, it's good, but then it's kind of monotone throughout, and then you eat that last bite and that's it. No grand finale to signal the end of the adventure. Names are taken, orders brought out to you if you take a seat. Just a little extra on the customer service. Cones are a bit $$ starting at minimum $9. They do have a smaller cone that's maybe $1 cheaper or something but it wasn't clear on the menu. I'd say just stick with the regular size cause judging from others' pics the mini cone is like half the size or something. Despite the premium you're paying, if you think of other ice cream places where you get a tiny sugar cone or a slightly larger waffle cone, you're still going to be spending maybe $5 - $7 for a couple scoops. And no adventure. Given the dessert options in k-town, I think this is a pretty good spot if you're willing to spend as much on a cone as you would a bowl of pork bone soup or lu wei. read more

So I thought the cone would be churro-like, but the roasted sugar coating makes the cone a bit hard lol. Still tasty though, not too sweet. The vanilla soft serve part was alright, very smooth but taste-wise nothing too mindblowing. After finishing it, I concluded that it does have its own merits taste-wise, though I have a hunch that people go here for Instagram also lol. Oh Eva's, I had such high hopes for you. First time I had chimney cakes was from a street vendor in Poland. These were divine, and I've been looking for them since. Full disclosure, I ran into them in NOTL the day before, but this was based on my tour guide's recommendation. Eva's I had found, planned, and anticipated months before taking my trip to Toronto. They have a lot of options, including sweet and savory. Despite loving to deck my food out, I decided to go with something simple: I went with the original variety (golden glaze) and accidentally skipped on the Nutella, which ended up allowing the cake's biggest weakness to shine through. I really liked that these things were being made throughout the day, and the one I had ordered was cooked before my eyes. However, something must have gone wrong in the process because the inner part of the cake was raw. If it were cookie dough, I might have been more forgiving, but this batter raw is not quite as pleasant. I also found the Golden Glaze extremely underwhelming. Rather than a sweet, caramelized sugar exterior, It was just an exterior which was barely, hardly sweet. Sorry, but raw dough that barely sweet is not a winning combination. read more

We walked 40 min to get here (it was sunny out, and we wanted to walk instead of being in the stuffy subway with a gazillion strangers) and it was 100% worth all the blistery feet and sweaty foreheads. The store was really crowded and we were kinda out the door when we were lining up and it was so hot! The heat from the baking chimneys blew into our faces and it also smelled delicious. Mouthwatering af. There are so many options here (fruity, chocolately etc) & best of all - there's a vegan one which was light and delicious. I got the coconut cone (all their cones are 100% vegan) and the coconut whipped soft serve (BEST VEGAN OPTION EVARRR) It was topped with a strawberry and when I bit into the cone, I was on another high. It was SO DAMN GOOD. Crunchy, warm and soft at the same time. It was the best. I didn't even feel sick after eating it, even though it's so big. For regular cones, it comes plugged with chocolate so it doesn't leak - for the vegans, it comes plugged with a strawberry, which makes it a bit leaky and that's why I needed tons and tons of tissues, especially towards the end. First time I tried Eva's was at last years Sweetery Festival but this time around I got to try their limited edition Canada 150 mini cone (Available until July 2nd). This was amazing at a price of $9.00 including taxes it was a tasty treat. The mini cone is just the right size to enjoy this sweet treat, the cone is coated in dehydrated raspberries and filled with raspberry sorbet mixed with vanilla soft serve then topped with a strawberry. It was the perfect combination. There are regular sizes and mini cones available plus a lot of different options to choose from. Plus there are vegan options which is great so everyone can enjoy a yummy treat. Service was lovely as well. The lady at the counter was friendly, answered our questions and made it an enjoyable experience despite the lines. There is seating and washrooms available at the back of the shop but it's limited seating.
