I used to love roselle but I recently found that the desserts are really sweet and it's not as good as they used to be. They also only open on the weekends only so it's hard to align the dates when you have a special occasion on the weekdays. The flavours of the cakes are usually good and they always have good service. A cute little shack tucked away on King st!

Finally made it to their OG here! I have been to the West end location before but hadn't been to the little take-out window spot. After a visit to nearby Distillery District, I popped by to see what was still on sale. The one staff there was a young lady who was very enthusiastic and helpful at introducing the day's stock and selection. She was warm and bubbly on a cold afternoon. I managed to snag some goodies: earl grey shortbread cookies, oolong shortbread cookies, and a matcha chocolate cookie. All the flavours were perfect -- mildly sweet and accurate profiles. Loved them all, but especially the oolong shortbread! Will definitely return!

Puff cup

Been wanting to try a puff cup for a while because the top looks delicious. I got the peach puff cup and it had peaches in cream, topped with a brûléed cookie (i think). For $17, the price is quite steep but the everything in the puff cup was delicious. I would definitely come back to try their other desserts as a treat

Earl grey soft serve with lemon peals

Soft serve is a 10/10! I've tried some of their pastries which are just okay to me, but their cake cups are delicious. My only complaint is that they are only open 3 days a week with limited hours

Ohhhhhh so amazing ... pay the money ... whatever they want. Had The Earl and fell in love.

Amazing and intricately delicious! Favourite items are the pavlova and earl grey shorties! I didn't think I liked meringue till I tried this pavlova... Earl grey cake is delicious too (just be sure to order in advance)! A bit pricey, but I keep coming back for more... Love that there are some staples, but also some seasonal items. Almost always a line up, so be prepared to wait. Rain or shine. Just a heads-up, there's no in-store seating.

Chestnut cake

First time trying Roselle, I had their holiday Chestnut cake ($80) The cake overall was very tasty and enjoyable and I extremely loved their crust but I felt like it lacked the chestnut component. The only chestnut about the cake was the small bits of chestnut garnishes they placed around the cake and the very faint tasting of chestnut mousse. I might consider trying them again and checking out their menu for myself, as I had this cake at a family party. Overall I did really enjoy this cake.

Had their cake for a birthday and it was unbelievably amazing the chocolate sensation is remarkable!!! The chocolate mousse, the little chocolate balls for a crunch texture, the moisture in the cake mmmmhmmm.. i had pretty much 1/2 the cake just to myself, didn't really wanted to share! I like how they make it a take out window for those who goes to purchase items or for pick up( covid free) Ive had their home made nougat bars and they were soft and chewy topped with dried fruits

Big fan of this place! Well made desserts with high quality ingredients. Worth the small wait in line (they're very efficient so the line goes by quickly!) We've tried: - Roselle Frasier cake - similar to a strawberry shortcake but elevated 100 times. So delicious. This was amazing. Seasonal and would definitely get again! - Strawberry buttermilk cake - this was also super delicious. Would definitely get this again and try the different fruit varieties as well. - Madeleines - tried the lemon and loved it. - Absolutely loved their cookies! Tried their chocolate chunk and matcha chocolate. Would try all other flavors as well. Really well done. Can't wait to go back!

Roselle is a "playful dessert shop" (quoted from their website) owned by Steph and Bruce who worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in France. Roselle has been on my bucket list of places to pre-covid, and I am so glad they still going strong today! Food: Here you will find a variety of desserts; pavlova, caramels, chiffon, cakes, cookies, madeleines, eclairs, and parts of their menu changes seasonally and/or monthly. I am in love with their cake cups, so creamy and the components in each cake surprise me with every bite. Service: You are greeted by Steph and/or Bruce themselves! They are very friendly and really care for their customers. I always feel positive after each interaction with them. Pricing: The prices are steep, however, verything crafted from Roselle undeniably proves the caliber coming from the people behind this dessert shop. All their quality desserts are worth a try! I have yet to try their famous Earl Grey soft-serve, can't wait till the weather gets warmer!

Got the Birthday cake cake cup. It was like cake but in a cup. Besides sprinkles it had a passion fruit layer. The cream tasted fresh. It was pretty good - easy to eat but smaller than a cake slice

What I ordered: - Sesame Eclair - Hazelnut Cake Cup - Cheddar, Strawberry, Earl Grey Shortbread Menu & Tasting 5/5 SESAME ECLAIR - filled with sesame ganache, roasted hazelnuts, chocolate crème! When I saw this, I knew I had to have it. I believe it was a seasonal item! The flavours blended so well together and the outsides were perfectly crispy. HAZELNUT CAKE CUP - a cake in a cup! What's not to love about that? The cookie crumbs, cake pieces, and hazelnuts were the perfect mixture. Even the wooden spoons that were given to us were adorable. Would definitely try the other flavours. SHORTBREAD COOKIES: CHEDDAR, STRAWBERRY, EARL GREY - my favourite was the cheddar and earl grey. One of the softest, freshest, tastiest shortbread cookies I ever had. The strawberry had just the right amount of sweetness. I normally don't go for drier cookies, but these were the perfect texture. Store 5/5 A cute store with French inspired desserts and merchandise as well. I went a month ago, just before closing time and lined up for about 15-20 minutes. It was worth the wait! This all costed me ~$45 and I was a bit surprised, however you can tell the quality of the desserts are there so I understand the price!

Spicy Cheddar shortbread

We counted ourselves lucky when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon 1hr before closing to plenty of options and no line ups. It was a humid hot day, so the Peach Parfait was exactly what I needed to cool down with. The softserve is creamy, with a hint of that buttermilk tang at the end of the vanilla notes. The parfait has cake chunks on the bottom and is topped with a cookie crumble and fresh peach chunks. Each element brings a new flavor to the palate, so it keeps it interesting to the last bite. Definitely a wonderful treat if you are in the area. My friends got several different items I was lucky enough to sample also. I really liked the spicy cheddar shortbread. It packed a punch of heat and the salty cheddar was lovely along with the buttery shortbread. The Madeleines also deserve a call out, with the earl grey one being the best of the bunch in my opinion. My friend treated us to a pavlova which was also amazing. The tartness of the raspberries cut through the sugar of thee we meringue. Both crunchy and smooth, tart and sweet!

Hitotoki Japanese Bakery - Brown sugar walnut break

Hitotoki Japanese Bakery

What a gem! This bakery is tucked into the southeast corner…read moreof Yonge & College, and walking inside feels like stepping straight into Japan. The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

It was okay. Tried three items:…read more Matcha Lava Tart - The staff said this had the strongest matcha flavour among their matcha items. But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

My wife always judges a French Cafe by their Butter Croissant ($3.00) and she liked it! She also noticed all the  staff speak French sp it gives it even more legitimacy.  She also ordered a Flat White ($4.50) which was also good. I ordered a Plum Almond Tart ($7.25) because it was the prettiest. It was super delicious so it was definitely a good choice! Service was courteous and friendly. You place your order at the counter and bring it to your table. Someone will come around to clear the dishes when you are done It is a great place to have a nice casual time eating and socializing. They make all their food in-house in the basement. There are products for sale such as coffee beans, fruit syrup, maple syrup, smoked sauces, olive oil, scented soap, wine glassware, etc. I will definitely come back again to try other items. There is free WiFi. The neo-bisto is not wheelchair accessible since there are stairs leading up to the entrance. There are two gender-neutral washrooms. There is free street parking on their one-way south-bound street. Review 2023-017

Amazing place! I…read morecalled ahead to find out if they had this plum tart I purchased the first time I was there. Yet no one answered the phone. No problem. Hopped on my bike and a half hour later I was there. The friendly staff helped me by answering my question regarding eggs and which items did not have any in the recipes. This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
