Decided to go thru their Car Hop Drive Thru. Big mistake! With a steady stream of customers, we were pleased to be the first car in the third row. Another mistake. We sat there for 10 minutes. We watched the truck behind us and the one behind him get their food and we didn't even get to order! We watched as the kids went to the different cars, but no one came to us. I know, i usually try to eat at funky ethnic places that serve pickled herring or fresh flour tortillas, but I am a sucker for fried chicken, hey i grew up in the South. My favorite fried chicken for a while could only be purchased at a chain store (NOT the COLONEL's or CHURCHES) but that other one from Louisiana....Oh, it feels good to get that off my chest. Bush's came from the Waco area. I am not a fan of Waco, but this is the best thing to come out of there. The chicken is always crispy and hot and just plain delicious. It seems like the chicken is bigger and better than any other place. If you like fried chicken, then you have to eat here! I am serious. They have a nice drive thru...more like a car hop service for pickup and the service inside is always nice. Their sides are okay, but I usually just get chicken. I have yet to try the gizzards and livers (which is one of my favorite parts of the chicken) If you don't like fried food and/or chicken, then don't come up here. Their fried chicken is very good, but that's not why I go there. For starters, I love their tenders...crispy, juicy, and delicious. However, the thing I go there for is the fries. Yes, that's right, the fries! They may look like just normal crinkle cut fries but they taste fantastic. These might be my favorite fast food fries...I've been known to pick up burgers from one place and skip on the fries there just to drive to Bush's to pick up their fries to go with the burgers! Best fast food fried chicken I have ever had! I love fried chicken - coming from a southern/mid-western family, I have eaten lots of good chicken in my time. I usually won't touch fast food fried chicken with a 10 foot pole - but the reviews for Bush's changed my mind. Its very good hot fresh tasty chicken. Its not quite at the level of restaurant or speciality (like Lucy's or Mrs P's) friend chicken but its a great quick low cost chicken alternative! I will say the sweet tea was way too sweet for me... but the hubs loved it. Rolls are good, sides a decent and the service was absolutely top notch! They truly care about their community and support local schools which is really hard to find these days. Just spent 10 minutes at the drive through after the girl that was preoccupied with everything around her but taking our order. Sat as 5 other cars came after us and left before us with their orders. Then we had to honk to get anyone to come talk to us. Then the girl that took our order comes to the truck with the wrong order and claimed they had to cook the strips (you sell chicken why wasn't it cooked already?) oh the order she brought out belonged to someone behind us - why are people behind us getting the same strips we ordered before us if they had to cook them for our order??? Then she comes and says someone must have taken your order... doubt it!!! We left and went to Zaxby's. Been in Texas for 3 years - love love love Bush's Chicken. It is always hot and fresh. I have never had chicken that had obviously been sitting. I always get the green beans, they are tasty. Hubs really likes their coleslaw. Entire family enjoys the rolls - we usually order extra. We really like that we can get the regular bone in pieces and our daughter who won't eat things on a bone is very happy with the tenders. Also like that the family dinners can be a combo of regular and strips. The counter help has always been friendly. We've never had a bad experience and look forward to future visits when the craving for fried chicken hits. read more

Ordered a family meal with 2 sides of French fries. The order took excessively long. It took excessively long for them to take my order. The French fries were hard and cold and tasted stale and like they were cooked in dish water. This review has to do with the service; I don't know what some of their employees are trying to prove but two of the last three times that I have been there the waiters have passed my car up in the drive through and gone to the car behind me or gone to the car in a lane farther over in the drive thru; both times I have registered a complaint with the manager on duty but I don't think that it has made much difference as evidenced by the most recent occurrence of the practice. We've been eating here since my child was born 7 years ago and she loves this pace. Quincy is her favorite person and while she loved getting a "chicken roll" she has now graduated to eating a full size meal here. The sweet tea will give you a kidney infection haha and the food is always freshly made. We always kid that they don't have free ice-cream like the "other guys" but we come here anyway! They do however have single servings of blue bell icecream!! They go through TONS of gizzards and livers so they must be good. The place is super clean and they have awesome customer service. This has become our go-to fried chicken place. It's right around the corner, prices are reasonable and they do a lot of fundraising for the area schools. Luckily, the fried chicken doesn't destroy my belly here either. It's really good! Well, we like it. The cats do too. Ordering is really weird, you pull up to the signs on the wall then a car hop takes your order. It kind of hearkens back to the days before we yelled into boxes (long before MY time, but movies you know). The kids taking orders and running the food are always super polite and just great kids. This is by far my favorite fried chicken place in Texas. The skin is always super crispy and not greasy. They have a seasoning salt that is also very very amazing on the fries and chicken. Great drivethru...love not screaming through a box not knowing if the whole restaurant is cringing and my high pitched tone. Bush's fried chicken is my all time favorite chicken. I just wanted to say thank you to Bush's Chicken staff. We were in mourning of our little grandbaby last week when we stopped to pick up some chicken after planning for the funeral. It so happen that one of the staff asked how we were doing and we mentioned to her of our loss. She was kind enough to give us her condolences. However, when we paid and left with the chicken order, it had struck me odd that the bill was less. So, I looked at the receipt and noticed that the cashier had given us a discount. We were so touched by that gesture that we turned back thru the drive through to say thank you to the cashier. We were actually in tears for the kindness we received that day.
