The worst Chinese food in Austin. I do not know where they are getting the money to advertise as heavily as they do on television but it seems they'd do better if they invested that in a higher standard of food. It's too bad because there are not so many options anymore for Mongolian bbq but they couldn't even do that well. And for a buffet, and in particular an Asian cuisine restaurant their options are shockingly limited. There are so many good or at least decent Chinese restaurants in the immediate area around there that it just is not worth the time or money. I doubt I could be convinced to return. read more

Solid Buffet. Went on Labor day 2018. We called a bunch of Chinese restaurants and either they didn't do buffet, were closed, or were super rude. Buffet King was one of the few that were open and super nice over the phone so we thought, why not??? The place is huge and it was still packed with customers which made us feel good about the choice. After all, if it's so busy the food must be good (for the price) right? We were greeted promptly and with a smile and taken to our table. Did not expect such service here so super impressed! The buffet itself was expansive and better than the ones I've experienced in Austin so far. They had all the usual stuff for appetizers: egg roll, fried chicken, chicken nuggets, chicken stick, crab rangoon among many others. The egg drop soup was my personal favorite. They also had pizza and cheese enchiladas for the kids. Among the entries, general Tso's and sesame chicken were good but the highlight and best dish by far was the jalapeño chicken! They had a sushi bar which I did not try and seafood items which I did try - they were meh at best. They also have a Mongolian grill station where you pick all the ingredients you want and the chef will cook it for you but the line was long and there were too many items on the regular buffet I still had to try! Maybe next time. There is a salad bar. I did not come here to eat salad. The dessert were a mixed bag. I would advise to avoid the stale jellos and the soft serve ice cream. The cone wafers were stale and the ice cream had a weird saltiness to it. I would however recommend some of the baked goods - the cakes and eclair looking thing was decent. Overall, besides the dessert items, nearly everything ranged from good to okay to meh. Nothing was super bad nor super great. Just average. Except the jalapeño chicken.that was bomb! Service was going good until we were about to leave. We were just finishing up eating and we recived the bill. We had to pay 75 dollars for the buffet. When we were gonna leave to pay we decided to leave a generous tip. We left 5 dollars and we thought that it was a good tip. The mean and ungrateful waitress demanded more money for a tip! She told us to give more but we declined to give more money. She left our table a with a disappointed face on her. We were pretty upset at this because we usually come to this buffet and we usually leave around 3 to 5 dollar tip but this time they were demanding more than usual. read more

The whole time me and my family were eating we felt rushed by our server. We have a receipt for $60.97 and a few hours after we leave an updated transaction of $73.16 So, that being said. Our transaction had an added tip on it that we DID NOT LEAVE. that's 12/13$ just taken off a card without our permission. Recently tried their buffet. It's Value for money. Only one set of noodles and fried rice was surprising even though it was Asian cuisine.

If you like shady pricing, being stared at while you eat and getting pushed out of the way by a server then this is the place for you! I wasn't expecting quality food because it is a buffet and you get what you pay for. The food was decent but not warm. I noticed they had multiple servers watching your every move, very uncomfortable atmosphere. They have signs pointing inward towards the buffet, which was shady and not clearly visible considering it's talking about the pricing of your food. If you waste the food they charge you $2 per plate, which is fair but they could make the signs more visible. But the outer part of the sign facing the walkways which is completely visible by the way, just says "children must be accompanied by an adult at all times." One of the waitresses who was eyeing the serving area heard me talking about how disgusting my last plate was and I did not eat it; while pointing at the sign showing my husband the sign with the $2 fee per plate of wasted food. The woman who was staring of course was also eavesdropping on my conversation. Proceeds to push me out of the way to pick up the sign I'm pointing at, look around the area and put the sign back down. I stared back at her thinking she might acknowledge that she basically ran right into me but instead she just went back to her staring post. She made more of an effort to not look at me after she bumped me out of her way. I was about to get my 3rd plate until that incident, so we left. TRASH! If you've read my review this far, then you should also know that I dropped a crawfish and one of the ladies picked it up, and put it back right in front of me! I literally just made this account just to write this review. I've gotten better service at McDonald's, and putting a hot n spicy on your mcdouble is way cheaper and tastes a whole lot better than this place. This place is disgusting don't go eat here! A day ago a went to eat her because i said how bad can it be as soon as i walk in the whole place smelled horrible ! And it seemed like it was the carpet! I Still tried to keep a positive attitude. And a few minutes before almost leaving i see a cockroach walking in the table next to the plate ! At that point i had to leave. So i went over to the front desk lady that seemed like she was the one in charge, and started explaining to her that the was COCKROACH IN THE TABLE ! She was acting like i was trying to pay then after a second time explaining myself she walks over to the table and tries to make it seems like something was wrong with the table and she was fixing it! Now imagine if theres cockroaches during the day rooming freely how many there must be in the night time! I have reported this and i hope y'all get closed down! read more

The waiter was very rude, we had to ask her for more drinks and kept rushing us and mumbled something i obviously didn't understand a couple of times. She also started cleaning the seat and put the trash in my daughter's plate that she hadn't even started yet. To top it all off she stood there rushing us and said "What no tip?" The absolute worst experience from the start. As I walked in 2 of the waitresses were abnoxiously loud and they were speaking in another language. We sereved ourselves food and we saw a roach on the sushi plate!! Once we told the chef about it, he did not respond. All he did was remove the roach and he left the sushi there! I have been to this buffet before, the selection is good but the temp of the food is luke warm at best. There is a Spanish speaking commercial for Buffet King that is running on Spectrum, towards the end of the commercial they state that between 2pm and 3:30pm that the buffet for seniors is $6.99 But when you get there it is priced at $7.99 A dollar is not that much, but it urkes me when you see that happen. I asked them about the different prices and they looked at me like so what. I told them they should honor the price on the commercial or change the commercial to reflect the higher price. They did give the children's price of $6.99 but under duress. read more

The food is good/acceptable most of the time, but when it is bad, it is really bad. My last visit was not a good one; the sesame chicken and the general T'aos were just plain terrible, tough as if it had been reheated and and resauced. Came here for the first time. Are one wonton soup and 2 buttress of a chicken wing and got immediately very nauseated. I have a string stomach and this never happens to me. I went to the bathroom and did some dry heaving, could not this up. Sorry this is graphic. They charged me $12.99 for the buffet, over $50 fur my entire family. I told them the situation. They didn't believe me even though I know I looked bad from the nausea. They removed the price of the buffet, but charged me for wonton soup and one chicken wing even though their food made me sick. Came for an early dinner around 5pm. Most of the pans of food were well stocked but some tasted better than others. The soups were very hot but not much flavor. The crab legs were pretty tasty and most of the customers took huge plateful of crab legs. The sushi selection was just okay. There were fresh fruit and the sliced watermelon was a refreshing dessert. The staff were young and pleasant. They came to our table often to clear our dirty dishes. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food they serve. There is plenty of parking available in the shopping center parking lot. read more

To those reading this review, please note that I have very low standards for my food. I eat anything. I also like to get my money's worth at buffets, so I eat lots, even if the food isn't too great... I had the sushi, all the 6 or 7 varieties of chicken they offer, beef and broccoli, their salad bar, pot stickers, rice, noodles, jello.. it was a regrettable experience. I kept on going back to give another item a chance, and I was disappointed. My boyfriend stopped eating after a couple bites, and he waited for about 15 minutes before I also gave up on trying to find something I could eat. After paying $26 for two people for a Wednesday night dinner buffet, my wallet, stomach, and heart were all very sad. They do have good garlic bread and fries though. Once again, I gave into Bff's whim last nite. As we walked our 4 miles around Ladytown Lake, I whined to him that it was time for me to start dieting and exercising more as I'm getting a muffin top. He says, "I wanna go try the new Chinese buffet" and I sez OK. Just like that. sigh. Actually I'm not starting this healthy regimen til AFTER Yelp Drinks Week anyway. I've got my priorities. Also the force of firsting a biz is strong with me. Anyway, we tried to find out the name and location of this place on the "smart" phone but it was a struggle downloading anything faster than a three legged turtle so we just drove to the Target off I35, as Bff recalled it was in that area. And there it was in the back corner with flags and bows to celebrate their grand opening. While not expecting much, I have to say I was a little impressed. This place is massive! They have tons of food to pick from, almost like an Asian Thomas Super Buffet. Everything from the typical dishes like sesame chicken to some odd diversions like enchiladas (?!) and baked salmon. My fave dish was the "jolopeno chicken". Obviously these folks aren't from around here, but the dish was spicy and very jolopeno-ey. They also have the super softy, yeasty rolls like Thomas with honey on top. There went all diet aspirations. I found myself picking the broccoli out of the beef and broccoli just to have a little greenery on my plate. It's that or green beans for "health food". They do have sushi, and while bff sampled some and pronounced it fresh, I balked. I've had food poisoning this year and I wasn't dancing with that train again. They also have a Mongolian grill and I perused the toppings which included some fine looking veggies. I was a little nervous that the chicken was not slightly frozen like most places. This looked like an alligator bait bucket and since my brush with the food poisoning was of the bad chicken variety, I was a little concerned. However, one thing I noticed was the constant turnover and refreshing of dishes in the buffet, so maybe that chicken doesn't sit out too long. The staff were super friendly and picked up our pile of finished plates promptly. One word of warning tho: we both ordered iced tea when we sat down and they brought out sickeningly sweet tea. Thankfully they had lots of lemons on the buffet, but you may be sure to specify. Thirteen dollars ($10 for buffet plus tea and tax) to eat yourself silly and sample a variety of things is not a bad deal. I typically get bored with just one Chinese dish as they seem so one-dimensional in flavor to me. And if it allows me to ignore my muffin top for awhile, it's priceless. read more

It's better than a lot of the other buffets I've been at but its for only two reasons: cheap for saturday night and crab. Yep, that crab is pretty darn good, definitely on the salty side an hour afterwards but they have tons of it and you just keep going back for more and more. It's juicy and it spills everywhere when you crack it, but oh so good. Mongolian grill line here is very short, especially for a saturday night at 6 pm. Standard items but the noodles here are very good, nice and chewy, perfect texturally. Here's a secret, I would just get fresh noodles and veggies and sauce it and have them do it, then mix in the brocolli beef thats cooked by them and you get a better lo mein actually. After that only other notables are the sushi, which while selection is small, they do replenish quick and they do have nigiri. Chicken wings and house chicken are pretty good and the fruit bar is packed with goodness. Alright, this place has many reviews along with a wide range of them. Here is my take. Walking in we were greeted right away and was sat at a table. We were asked for drinks and we hit the buffet. As far as Buffets go, they had everything! My family's favorite are the sushi rolls. They had plenty and all very tasty! 4 soups, 2 dessert lines and a Mongolian grill! This place was huge. I give the buffet and service 5 stars. The only draw back is yes the chairs and carpet are a little run down but the place was clean, including the bathrooms. I would definitely go back! I've been eating here for years. The food is always fresh, the sushi satisfies that craving, the soft serve is excellent and I've never gotten sick. No real wow factor in this restaurant. There are a lot of options as far as the normal stuff you would see on a buffet. We arrived at 7:30pm and while dishes were coming out fresh and the steam is visibly rolling off of the food...as soon as I sat down, everything on my plate was barely warm. :-/ The fried rice was good and generic, the noodles were a little over salted, actually everything was very salty. The jalapeño chicken, even cold was actually pretty good. You can't really mess up broccoli so I ate a lot of that from the beef and broccoli selection. The sweet n sour chicken pieces weren't cooked throughout...which made me pause. That came out of my mouth and into a napkin right away. The sushi was the biggest mistake of the night. For some reason there was actual miracle whip in the California roll! Egad. Service was consistent w most of the other reviews. This is without a doubt the nastiest restaurant/buffet i've ever been to. The food is literal poison i'm gagging just thinking about it. All the meat had a black licorice taste to it the smell was even worse. I am not a religious person but I swear to god anyone who eats here regularly are brainwashed from the parasites they contracted from the food.
