The famous sauteed green beans (with shrimp). Sooo good!
    Cynthia D.

I will always follow restaurateur Meili Wu to wherever she goes. Formerly the owner of Oriental Kitchen in Pflugerville, I'll never forget when Meili opened her kitchen to the community during the Great Freeze of 2001, when many of us lost heat/water/power, and she cooked meals free of charge for anyone who asked. That's the kind of person she is, and I will never forget such kindness. Meili's China Fun is located a bit farther away from that original restaurant, and the menu includes some of the old favorites (sauteed green beans are a specialty) as well as some different options, but the menu seems much smaller than the Pflugerville version. One of the things I always loved about the original location was some of the "off menu" features like her family recipe fried chicken on Sundays -- not sure if that is available here, but I will look for it next time. Our food was generously portioned, arrived to our table fast, and tasted about the way I remember it. However, the service was a bit scant on a Saturday afternoon. I get the sense the restaurant has tons of take-out orders, so dining in (at least at the time we were there) was not a priority for the gentleman working. He just didn't have the best customer service skills. We had to ask for anything we wanted, like water, for example. (We were told to just help ourselves to bottled water from the case). I noticed with curiosity that each table is outfiited with a cooktop -- are these used? That would make for such an interesting experience. I look forward to returning maybe during an evening service to see what it's like when more people are dining in.

This is the best Chinese food ever! Very fast service. Clean dining room with a nice beer menu.

How in the world can you charge $15 for plain lo mein?! It doesn't say it's going to be JUST NOODLES and nothing else! I can't believe all of this came to $45 on Uber eats. Plain noodles that should cost $5. Dumplings that aren't Chinese style at all and surely are just frozen shipped from somewhere. The crab cheese puffs are supposed to have crab but don't but they still charge $12! What a rip off. Austin prices are insane for bad food

Picked up food to go tonight and I wasn't impressed. No one sitting in the restaurant at 7:00 should have been the first indication. The food was ready quickly. I asked the man at the front of there was a restroom and he seemed bothered that I asked. When we returned, another customer was asking him for a menu so he could order, I didn't catch the first past of the conversation, but the host replied to him "dude, I don't even know what you're saying." It was really condescending and unprofessional. He told me out food was ready, as I was getting the bags, I noticed there was a sign behind the counter that said, "stop pay, fuck you" with a counterfeit bill. While I understand that would obviously be infuriating, I don't feel like that was appropriate. The food was alright. Crab wontons were the best thing. Couldn't cut the chicken with a knife, super dry. Egg drop soup was good. Chicken and fries had the ketchup inside the box and the cup melted and ketchup was all over everything. Overall, the unprofessional host and sign, paired with the poor food, I wouldn't come back here. Really unimpressed. One entree, one soup and 3 appetizers for $70. No thanks.

Aside from the standard chinese food, they also have Taiwanese style dishes that's not on the menu. It varies from day to day and they are delicious.

Very good Chinese food. I always used Kung Pao Chicken as my measuring stick. Weirdly, very few get it right...China Fun made an excellent Kung Pao Chicken.

Peapod tips in garlic, needed more garlic in cooking, but fortunately not too greasy. Mapo Tofu on the moderate spicy side and a large portion. Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

Service was fine but we were out front on the patio and though our waiter was attentive while we ordered, we ended up finishing and waiting 40 minutes for someone to come by so we could grab the check. I ended up just heading inside and the maître d' was able to close us out. Tables around us were open so I'm not sure what had them held up, and it could've been a one off, but definitely not ideal at this price point.

UPDATE: I changed this review from 3 stars to 4 stars... I had contacted the Tso's comments page…read moreand relayed the issues. I promptly received an email acknowledging the issues, with promise to communicate that forward. I also received a credit. The timeliness of the response made it clear to me that there is an eye to quality control and that there's earnestness in making things better. I'll raise my "C-" to a "B-" and will give them another chance. ------------- Delivery: It took 1hr 25min for an order of soup, spring rolls, and lettuce wraps to be delivered... on a Monday... after lunch rush... when the restaurant location is less than 2 miles away. Online order: 1:03p; food in hand: 2:27p. That was a bummer. It's normally 30-40 minutes. Food: The small container of the dipping sauce (packed in the spring roll container) had a warped, melted lid... it was packed at the top of my complete order bag, and I suspect that it sat under a heat lamp for about 40 minutes. The spring rolls were soft and pithy and soaked in in the sauce. Kinda yucky. No crunch left. Food: I ordered chicken lettuce wraps. That came in a bi-partition container; lettuce on one side and chicken on the other. The lettuce was totally limp. The lettuce was dark green and looked like it was the nasty stuff you might peel off of a head of lettuce that sat too long in your refrigerator drawer. I'm sure it started out fresh when the meal was packed, but putting it in a container with hot food, and then next to a container of soup, and then letting it all sit under a heat lamp for 40 minutes did it no good. I did contact Tso's online and suggested that they pack lettuce separately for their lettuce wraps. Food: The chicken, the hot & sour soup, and the spring rolls were all a bit salty... saltier than usual, IMHO. Tso's is usually a solid "B", but this meal barely met a "C-".
