The restaurant serves extremely healthy food and there is ONLY plant based meat. Breakfast will run you $11-$13. Specialty coffees/lattes will run you $8. The restaurant itself is very loud. Between the lattes being made, chairs being dragged on the floor, and some people talking across the small space it was hard to hear my mom and concentrate on what she was saying. We have been meaning to come here for a few months and finally had a chance to have lunch here. What a fantastic place! It's so wonderful finding great vegan food while traveling, I wish we were in the area longer so we could go again! 3.5 stars because the taste of the food is phenomenal. Otherwise, there were quite a few issues with service.... We arrived at 1:00 pm and realized the restaurant closed at 2pm in the summer, still enough time for a fairly leisurely lunch. The menu that was offered was much less extensive than the one posted online, and on the wall, we saw that they were already "sold out" of a number of menu items. My sister and I ordered the kale bowl, but were told that was the 4th menu item that was "sold out." We went back to look at the menu again to try to figure out what looked good that was still available. I ordered the breakfast tacos, and my sister order a breakfast burrito; however when we were served our food about 15 minutes later, we were both served the same dish. The server did apologize and came back in about 10 minutes with what my sister ordered in the first place. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The breakfast tacos had avocado, pickled onions, Mexican cheese, cage-free eggs, black beans, and a delicious green salsa. My sister had a breakfast burrito without the tortilla, served with yummy avocado and home fries made of sweet potatoes, covered in cheddar cheese. The portion size was small for the prices; however, the food was so tasty that a smaller portion was satisfying. My sister enjoyed her Golden Latte with turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, and other spices in creamy whole milk. My ginger lime lemonade was a disappointment, though. The lime tasted slightly rotten, and the ginger was not strong enough, and it was very watery because at least half of the glass was filled with ice. Wow-- we came across this place by recommendation of the hotel, it seemed healthier than what we had recently so we gave it a try. To start off, the place itself is super cool, colorful and full or personality. As you walk in, both servers are super nice and attentive. We had cafe con leche and a matcha latte, exquisite. Then the real fun began..... he had the breakfast tacos with eggs, the yolk was PERFECTLY runny on both of them. They were delicious. This is literally one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've tried - and coming from LA, we have our fair share. The combination of amazing fresh and flavorful food with the friendliest service made this a can't miss restaurant in St Augustine! The empanadas and chimichurri sauce are so addictive! - combined with a super fresh and tasty arugula salad these were the favorite. We even took some to go to eat on the flight home! This is a go to again spot. I am letting friends and family know to come here. Interior decoration is pleasant and comfortable seating with pillows. I've had trouble finding a cafe con leche (with milk) and they have it here with cortada. I ordered one and it was perfect. I got a matcha and macadamia cookie- delicious! I tried the empanada with the alternate meat and it came with a pesto-like sauce for dipping, again delicious! I had to try the tortilla soup in a cup and was not disappointed. My friend got a rose tea and avocado toast with egg, butternut and fresh herbs and seeds on top. I was allowed to have a bite and that too was amazing. Buena Onda is well worth the visit.
