Here's the updated draft:…read more --- **LKSD (Downey)** I recently went to LKSD, a steakhouse in Downey, with a friend, and I enjoyed it a lot. The ambiance is dark and moody -- great for date nights or catching up with friends, though it's not really suited for business occasions or family outings. The space is indoor-outdoor, which is a nice touch, though it can get a little hot on the outdoor side in the summer. Service was prompt -- we were seated quickly without any wait. Drinks were very good -- we both had old fashioneds, and overall they were alcohol-forward but with a lot of good taste and pizzazz behind them. We only had appetizers this visit, but both were excellent. The elote ribs was a standout, and the French fries -- topped with short rib -- were delicious as well. Price was pretty affordable for a steakhouse: about $40 per person just for apps and drinks, though a full meal with food and drinks would likely run closer to $100 per person. Overall, a great spot for a night out with friends or a date, and I'd happily go back to try the full menu. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Drinks: 4.5/5 Food: 4/5 Value: 4.5/5 Consistency: N/A

After I heard they closed the Bellflower location I made it a point on 9/5/2026 to the Downey location. It was packed and they had a wait which I (Myself) was happy to see, I waited about 10 or 15 minutes and ordered the baby back ribs - Hawaiian style along with the Hawaiian style chicken with a salad, BBQ beans, and bread. It did not disappoint! 5 for me! Keep in mind this location is one of the original if not thee 1st one to open. It has a ambiance feeling when in there = Landmark. Chris & Pitts' Downey location has been operating since 1949, the year the chain was founded. All available records point to the Downey restaurant being one of the original early locations that remained open continuously while other branches closed over the decades. What a Gem! I almost forgot, the service was excellent too.

From the moment we arrived, she had a very noticeable attitude and made us feel like we were bothering her just by being there. Her demeanor and the way she spoke to us came across as very rude and unwelcoming. We understood that our party of six might need to be seated at two separate tables, and we were completely fine with that. However, the way the situation was handled was frustrating. She sat one of the tables down, and then shortly after had us get back up. Throughout the entire time we were waiting, it felt like she did not want to accommodate us or even have us there. Her attitude made the whole experience uncomfortable before we even had a chance to sit down and enjoy our meal. At that point, we decided to leave because of her demeanor and the way we were being treated. We simply did not feel welcomed, and we didn't want to spend our time or money somewhere where we felt uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that seating a larger party can sometimes be difficult, but there is still a way to communicate with customers respectfully. A friendly attitude and basic courtesy would have made a huge difference. Unfortunately, the hostess's behavior really put a damper on our visit. First impressions matter, and ours was definitely not a good one.

I was looking for two chicken tacos, two Carne Asada tacos, and a chicken burrito. They only serve their tacos in a three taco combination. The picture shows how plain and lifeless those tacos were. Each three taco combo was $26. No toppings, no rice and beans, and nothing to justify that price. On the menu, there was a long list of toppings that it was supposed to come with. They did not have Jamaica to drink, so I ordered watermelon and strawberry Agua Fresca's. When I was given my bag, they forgot to include the drinks, and I had to ask for them. My total was $77 and I regret leaving them an eight dollar tip on top of that. This place is a total rip off.

I love the ambiance and decor of the water fountain in the main dining room. It's set up with menus already on the table in big font which is good!!! They have really good lunch, drinks, and dinner menus with great prices. I ordered the grilled salmon with salad and baked potatoe, and subbed my onion rings for broccoli. Everything was amazing!!! My food was so good and made fresh. I also like how they put the salad dressings on the table and baked potatoes sides so you can get what you want. They also make a mean homemade sour cream that is scrumptious!!! The presentation for the lobster and baked potato is impressive!! I was definitely intrigued!! FYI: they also give you unlimited salad !! You love chocolate cake? Well this is the place to get it!!! I had the chocolate layer cake and it was greaattttt like Tony the Tiger would say!! It was warm soft and melted in my mouth!! I'm not a dessert girl but like I said I wanted to all I could since it was the weekend...you know, work hard play hard :) For my drinks, yes I said drinks lol...it's Saturday!! I tried the espresso and raspberry lemon drop martini and they were great, not too sweet and you can definitely taste the alcohol. I highly recommend their cocktails and they have so many and they get a lot of new ones so ask your waiter which ones that they do have for that day you go. Also, which is very imperative, the service was outstanding. We had the pleasure of having Alberto and he was beyond perfect. He was very attentive, came back the whole time didn't mess up our order and was very patient and had a really good heart. He recommended great suggestions on the menu. If you come ask for Alberto, he will not disappoint you. It's also a lot of parking in the back of the restaurant and easy to find. I cannot wait to come back to go to the bar to watch a game, and come back to try more food options and cocktails. -Marshay D.

The first one they brought out was an edge cut and way more well-done than I prefer. They were nice enough to bring me another one, which was closer to medium, but honestly, I was still disappointed with the flavor. It just wasn't very good. My wife ordered the New York steak and felt pretty much the same. It was okay, but there really wasn't much flavor to it. For me, the only thing that was actually decent was the salad. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, because the atmosphere was great and the servers were really nice. No complaints there. I will say, I cook steaks at home all the time, and this honestly didn't come close to what I'm used to making. At this point, maybe I've spoiled myself by cooking steaks at home so much that restaurant steaks just don't impress me anymore. Either way, it was a bummer, especially since it was my birthday. I really wanted to love this place, but based on the food we had that night, I probably wouldn't go back for the steaks. Total for the night.. was about 200 with tip. 2 Steaks and 2 kids meals and appetizer.

From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent, and the restaurant had a great vibe with an elegant, classic steakhouse ambiance. I started with the mixed greens salad with Italian dressing, followed by the bone-in ribeye with mashed potatoes for my main course. The ribeye was delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. For dessert, I had the tiramisu, which was a great way to finish off dinner. I also enjoyed a ginger ale with my meal. What really stood out was the exceptional service and overall atmosphere. Everything felt welcoming, upscale, and comfortable without being overly formal. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Delicious food, fantastic service, and wonderful ambiance. Definitely a 5-star experience, and I'd happily come back!

I've long wanted to visit Dal Rae. A friend recommended it to me, and everything I'd read about…read morethis historic restaurant had been positive. So when my wife and I were deciding where to celebrate our anniversary, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Our son wanted to tag along, and honestly, we don't like leaving him at home when we can experience something together as a family. I love creating these memories with my wife and son, especially visiting classic establishments around Los Angeles and introducing our son to places that have been part of the city's dining history. Unfortunately, Dal Rae was more of a letdown than the memorable anniversary experience I had hoped for. The weekend ambiance is really something special. There's live music throughout the restaurant, and we were fortunate enough to get a nice booth adjacent to the piano bar. The music wasn't too loud, but it was easy to hear, and the smooth jazz was a lovely touch. The staff were friendly and kind. When everything was working, Dal Rae had that classic old-school steakhouse atmosphere that is becoming harder and harder to find. This is where things fell short. The food quality was decent, but **everything was incredibly salty.** And I actually like salty food! The tableside salad was too salty, the baked potato was overly salty, and both of our steaks were too salty. At one point, I joked that my tongue was still numb from all the salt and that I needed to grab a bottle of water. The kitchen really needs to taste the food before it goes out. Seasoning should enhance the food, not overwhelm it. Steven, the table side salad connoisseur, was one of the highlights of our visit. He was energetic, personable and clearly enjoyed what he was doing. Watching him prepare the salad table side was one of those little experiences that puts a smile on your face and creates a lasting memory. I just wish I had the heart to tell him to go a little lighter on the salt! Later, Steven was preparing the salad at a table a few booths down when the smoke alarm went off and began beeping. The dining room became extremely smoky, and several of us started coughing. Definitely not ideal during an anniversary dinner. Our server was very nice and genuinely kindhearted. He appeared relatively new and made a few miscues, but he was trying his best, so I can't fault him too much. I did notice that some larger parties and tables that appeared to be regulars seemed to receive more attention. The owner made his rounds and greeted a table right next to us but never came over to ours. I found that a little odd. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but every guest should feel equally welcomed. Whether you're a high roller or a small fry, **our money all spends the same.** This was especially noticeable because we were celebrating our anniversary. I made the reservation through OpenTable and included a note mentioning the occasion. I wasn't expecting anything extravagant, but even a simple "Happy Anniversary" would have meant a lot. Another thing that surprised me was the dress code. There's a sign outside indicating that Dal Rae has a strict dress code, yet during our visit I saw men in T-shirts and backwards hats, along with women in spaghetti straps and daisy dukes. I understand times change and restaurants have to adapt, but it was still disappointing to see. I didn't grow up going to Dal Rae, so I can't tell you whether the standards have declined from what they once were. I can only judge the experience I had. I also wish there were a little more consideration for families with children. I came across an old menu online that apparently included a free sundae with the kids' meal. That's exactly the kind of little gesture that can put a smile on a child's face and create a lasting memory. It's a shame that promotion is gone. Last year, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at another restaurant. The service was superb, they gave us complimentary sparkling wine, and they even had crayons and placemats for our son. Those little touches matter. I really wanted to love Dal Rae. I was excited to finally visit a restaurant I'd heard about for years and even more excited to celebrate my anniversary there with my wife and son. Unfortunately, the evening left me disappointed. The ambiance, live music and old-school character are wonderful. Steven's tableside salad preparation was memorable, and there are clearly people here who care about what they do. But the food was **way too salty**, the service felt uneven, our anniversary was never acknowledged, and some of the old-school standards seemed to have slipped. I sincerely wish Dal Rae well and hope it continues for many more years. They certainly don't seem to need my help staying busy--the restaurant was bustling with patrons. For me, though, this wasn't the memorable anniversary meal I had hoped for. And if I ever return, I'll be asking the kitchen to go very, very light on the salt.

The owner, Ralph Verdugo, has created a great atmosphere, and it's clear that everyone takes pride in what they do. You can taste the care that goes into every meal. Elba and Fernando behind the bar are always friendly and provide outstanding service. My personal favorite is the fish tacos, they're fresh, flavorful, and the reason I keep coming back. The fries are also some of the best around, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and a great side with any meal. My kids love the fried shrimp and the cheeseburger, so there's something for everyone in the family. One of the things that really sets Buena Mesa apart is the entertainment. The live rock bands are the best and always put on a great show, making it a fun place to enjoy a meal, have a few drinks, and spend the evening with family and friends. If you're looking for a friendly neighborhood restaurant with amazing food, outstanding service, and top-notch live music, I highly recommend Buena Mesa. We'll definitely be back again and again!

I didn't have a beer, so I can't confirm whether it was colder, but I can definitely say that our waitress, Brittanie, was on point with everything. She was very knowledgeable and helpful with her recommendations. She explained that the grilled asparagus has more flavor than the steamed asparagus, and of course, you can never go wrong with the tri-tip! She even offered to make a fresh pot of coffee for some very tired people.
