Simple menu, great food, and a drive-thru. What's great about this place? What about not so great? What are my thoughts? Keep reading to find out.
I drove 20 minutes to come here after seeing the hype with this place. I dodged the crazy ass traffic of the 5PM rush on a damn Sunday (I don't even know how it was possible to have rush hour traffic on a Sunday). The journey to get here was definitely an experience in itself. Let's just say that I survived and made it out alive to get this food so I can write this damn review.
I ordered, as followed: One spicy double cheeseburger meal, one spicy double cheeseburger with no meal, two classic cheeseburgers with meals, one 32oz of strawberry lemonade, two 20oz of strawberry lemonade, and three seasoned fries with the meals. I paid a little bit over $40 for all of this. How was everything? Let's find out.
Let's start with the fries. I loved the seasoning. I think it's a nice bit of seasoned salt that just gives a nice flavor profile to the fries. What I don't like about the fries is the thinness. I think it would have been better with a thicker cut. Crinkle cut would actually win in my books.
The spicy double cheeseburger? Very damn good. It was delicious. I enjoyed the smack sauce that was layered amongst the hefty amount of the lettuce sandwiched between the burger patties and the buns. The spice was more of a texture profile where the inside of your mouth would feel hot. I actually enjoyed this feeling a lot (that's what she said).
The strawberry lemonade was really good. It apparently is hand-squeezed, because you know I love hearing how things are hand-squeezed for me, that it tasted absolutely fresh. A good amount of tartness. A good amount of sweetness.
Now let's get straight into the pros and cons:
Pricing is competitive versus its competition. How competitive? Versus a Double Whopper, it is $.50 cents more. The Whataburger's Double Meat Whataburger is $5.79. The In-N-Out's Double Double is $3.45. The McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese is $4.79. This burger is on the higher end but on the upside tastes fresher and is fresher than most of these options.
Customer service... Missed the mark which dropped the score. I was missing fries and I paid for a 32oz strawberry lemonade just to end up getting 3 20oz strawberry lemonades. Those lemonades weren't cheap either. Mind you, I drove 20 minutes to get there for food. I had a receipt that showed EVERY itemized thing. HOW DO YOU MESS THE EASIEST THING UP?! What was it? Checking to make sure I had the right shit. I even checked briefly to make sure, but it's difficult to do that with a line of several cars behind me. Also, I wouldn't have known because the bags were so small that I thought the extra fries were at the bottom of the bag.
One of the most memorable things to me was the drive-thru staff member trying to hand me two lemonades without asking me, "Did you need a holder?" How in the hell am I going to put the drinks in my car when I am by myself? Who's going to hold it for me? Like no common sense there at all.
The flavor profile was great and quite appetizing. What could have been one of my favorite experiences at a burger joint ended up having me just annoyed because they had the food right, but with what I paid--I was underdelivered with my money. I didn't get what I paid for. I missed about $5 worth of food if that.
Would I come again? Maybe. I like the burgers. I like the fries. I think if this place fixed the customer service aspect, this place would be even better. I also noticed others complaining about the service. Remember that a restaurant is only as good as the people running it.
On my ranking of is this certified or not:
Food: 7.6/10. Great score. It's a simple burger joint.
Customer service: 3.4/10. I may sound like a Karen or a Ken, but the reality is if they messed my shit up with the small stuff--imagine how many other orders really got messed up? Seems like a common occurrence especially with the inconsistencies that other reviews have shown about the customer service here.
Experience: 6.1/10. Nothing special. I can get cheaper burgers at In-N-Out that are just as "fresh". The main benefactor of this burger is honestly the smack sauce. For the money I paid, I didn't get what I paid for. I believe the staff here rushes things out without any care to the customers unfortunately.
Make sure to double check your orders. I learned 20 minutes after getting home. I thought I had everything but nope. Why the big deal? Because this is a higher scale priced place in comparison that should have better standards and practices for delivery of its services.
