We went there for brunch, and the atmosphere and service were excellent. Among our orders was the salmon avocado toast, which I remembered as impressive. I found it delicious with a unique flavour compared to other avocado toast I tried. The spaghetti truffle mushroom was also creamy, tasty, and plentiful; I find the fried chicken and waffles small in portion and less hollandaise sauce. Lastly, we were happy with their dessert platter, which included maccaron, ice cream, chocolates, and tiramisu--a great price for the amount of sweets on it. Just something to consider would be it's on the pricy side, and I find the building parking so confusing as everything was reserved, and it took a while to find parking.

Bruno Restaurant 8499 Bridgeport Road, Richmond, BC V6X 1R7 Cuisine: Modern Canadian / Hotel Dining Culinary Experience Pork Belly Hash Two poached eggs, mushrooms, onions, jalapeño, arugula, paprika hollandaise. The dish arrived with visual appeal, the pork belly, while crisp on the outside, lacked succulence and depth of flavor. The balance between the ingredients felt uneven -- the hollandaise failed to tie the elements together, leaving the dish somewhat disjointed. Interestingly, the hash browns stood out as the best component, perfectly golden and well-seasoned. In a dish meant to celebrate richness and texture, it was the simplest element that shined the brightest. 6/10 - Conceptually appealing but lacking harmony. Mocha Served warm with a pleasing aroma, the mocha unfortunately offered more style than substance. The flavor profile was mild and flat, missing the bold espresso bite and velvety chocolate depth that distinguish a great mocha. It was perfectly drinkable, but unremarkable. 6/10 - Passable, but forgettable. Ambiance Set within a modern hotel, Bruno Restaurant boasts an airy and contemporary design. The natural light, soft tones, and minimalist décor create a bright and inviting atmosphere -- ideal for a leisurely breakfast or casual meeting. Despite its elegance, the energy feels subdued, which may appeal to hotel guests seeking calm but might feel impersonal to local diners. 8/10 - Beautiful, polished space with a serene ambiance. Service Service, unfortunately, was the low point of the experience. Upon entering, no staff were present to greet guests. After a ten-minute wait, I had to ask the hotel concierge to summon a server. When the waitress finally arrived, she offered no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. While she did return later to check on the table, the initial impression of neglect lingered. In a restaurant with such an elegant setting, the absence of warm, attentive service creates a stark contrast. 2/10 - Professional polish needed to match the ambiance. Price The pricing is fair for a hotel restaurant, aligning with the level of presentation and environment. However, given the inconsistent food and lackluster service, the value proposition remains debatable. Verdict Bruno Restaurant presents itself beautifully refined décor, bright atmosphere, and the promise of an upscale breakfast experience. Yet beneath the stylish surface lies inconsistency. The food, though decent, lacks the finesse to stand out, and the inattentive service undermines the restaurant's otherwise polished image.

Since the pandemic, we only do department holiday parties at work. This year we went to Bruno. I am so glad we waited till this year to go because the menu is definitely more comprehensive than last year. There are so many dishes that I want to try on the menu but I can order so many since it's company paid Their lunch board hit almost all the dishes I wanted order. We ordered 3 lunch boards to share among the 6 of us. For $125, the lunch board comes with: - Kale Grain Salad - Kurobuta pork belly - Prime Sirloin Steak - Honey Lavender Duck - Truffle Potatoes - Lemon Grilled Broccolini - Bruno Lavender Honey Gelato It is the best deal since the steak alone is $68. The kale salad was refreshing and the pomegranate adds a nice sweet refreshing crunch. The pork belly was so tender and pairs perfectly well with the sauce. Between the steak and the duck, I like the duck more which is suprising because I am normally not a duck person. The duck breast was cooked to medium doneness. It wasn't dry or gamy at all. We all really liked the truffle potatoes. I still want to try their Brussels sprout, karaage and wagyu pasta. The staff were attentive. My hot water was refilled quite often :) Love the Christmas decorations. The only down part is the confusing parking lot. It is somewhat hard to find and confusing to get out.

Came here to attend an engagement dinner. I love the venue, it's very intimate for 80+ guests invited. It's neither too big nor too small and although there are small sections, it got everyone together. Food choices on menu were quite appealing and extensive. Dishes were presented as sharing dishes with platters good for 5-6 people.

Decent brunch option although they lean more towards a dinner experience. Staff is friendly and attentive, although that may have been because the restaurant was pretty empty at the time. Prices are on the higher end, though the food was tasty, fresh and quick to arrive. Drip coffee is refilled gratis and quickly which was nice.

Love the service, food and the ambiance of this restaurant. It's intimate and spacious so you have privacy but yet cozy and lovely atmosphere. We celebrated a wedding anniversary here for the second time and the food was amazing!! Will be back for sure.

Service was great and food is delicious. It was a bit loud as there was a large party with someone who had a touch too much to drink. I appreciate our server checking in and trying to help us time the next dish. Oysters were fresh (the chili oil is a must!). The fried pork belly was a bit heavy and awkward to eat - it seemed like something was missing. It just needed something else so we were eating bites of fried pork belly. Pasta was on the salty side but was cooked well. Portion was generous. I lovvveee Brussel sprouts. These were crispy but flavour was pleasant - not too salty, had a nice crunch from the nuts, but a bit oily.

Took the opportunity to try this place for the first time during Dineout. Their menu was very generous - 3 appetizers, 2 entree, and 1 dessert for each person! The service was attentive throughout the night, never felt that we were rushed out during our 3 hour dinner. Tim, the restaurant manager, was amazing, checking in on us throughout the night making sure we had a great experience. The food was awesome and well worth the price. The ambiance is stylish and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and come again!

Sept 2023 update: great experience with their late night chef's tasting menu. It's $45 per person, Mon-Wed after 8:30pm. Very affordable and great value for the amount of food you get. Comes with a burrata salad, honey garlic fried chicken (loved the smoke presentation), pasta, short rib (so tender), prawns, potatoes, and broccolini. For dessert - tiramisu, macarons and assorted chocolates. Everything was plated beautifully and service was attentive. We also got cocktails which were extremely tasty.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Bruno to celebrate a gf's birthday. What a stunning restaurant! Our meal included: Honey Lavender Duck, Scroll Loaf, West Coast Oysters, Bruno Signature Pasta Platter, and Spicy Pomodoro Tagliatelle with Meatballs. My ultimate favourites were the Scroll Loaf and the Saffron Shellfish Tagliatelle of the pasta platter. Bruno went above and beyond with the presentation of the birthday cake. It was completely unexpected and definitely a nice touch! A lovely evening overall.

A bare pass 2.5 star. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. When we arrived, we were greeted and led to our seat promptly. We sat at the bar/lounge area which was less pretty, but that's okay. Server brought the menu over, and I noticed the cocktail menu had oil stain and was clearly stepped on with a shoe mark. We ordered a burrata salad and crab coquette to share, then an ikura king crab risotto and a waygu flank steak as entree. Both appetizers were only average, it's like me doing fancier dining at home. The ikura crab risotto was pretty good, flavorful and risotto has the Al dente bite. My husband's waygu flank steak plating was a mess, waygu flank steak tasted good but over cooked. He asked for medium and came out medium well. Thank goodness it wasn't chewy, the chimchurri gave a good flavor to the steak. The bottle of red we ordered are alright, and reasonably priced. We took a look at the dessert menu, and the menu is also wrinkly and stained. We decided to skip dessert, and go somewhere for the sweets instead. When my husband made the reservation, he stated it was our 20th anniversary, but the restaurant didn't bother to have server to congratulate us, or ask if we were celebrating any occasion, or offer to have dessert on them, etc. Their pretty flower wall that everyone has been posting on social media may be the best part of this restaurant. The bill came to be about $160, which is not bad at all, but in terms of the overall experiences, there're so many other restaurants to choose from, that I'll never return to Bruno again.

It was referred by a friend and I decided to host the Christmas dinner at Bruno. This is what we ordered and how we felt: 1) truffle potatoes and there were no truffle taste 3/5 2) Brussel sprouts 4/5 3) shrimp 3/5 4) friend chicken- presentation 5/5 but taste 3.5/5. Make sure you have to ask the server for the smoke presentation. I felt Pelicana devil spice chicken tasted better and cheaper price! 5) pasta sampler 3/5- noodles were undercooked by 40sec 6) duck was highlight of the night- so delicious 6/5 7) steak - 2/5, I was disappointed on the steak, because the thickness of the steak was around 1.5 cm and the server gave us a butter knife for steaks instead of steak knife. 8) pork cheek - 3/5 The interior design is amazing. The vibe is very modern and you should take your date here for a drink but the food is mediocre.

What an absolute FEAST at Bruno! Incredible food, great service and a fantastic evening with friends. Started out with their Oysters and Ikura. Super delicious and loved the creaminess that paired really with the oysters. I usually don't get too excited about a salad... this one is exciting though and it was just popping with flavour. The richness of the burrata and the tartness of the blackberries went really well together. Their kurobuta pork belly was super rich and decadent with all that fatty goodness! Next up is their entrees and started off with their Arctic char with saffron cream mussels, clam and scallops. Then the real main entree came with truffle lavender duck with foie gras and confit duck croquettes. Wow! Maybe we'll just have their grilled wagyu flank steak on the side. There was so much food and so worth it! We just had enough room for desert which included their rustic tiramisu and cherry pavlova. Looked like a mini snowman with a cherry on top. What an incredible meal and definitely one of my favourites!

Parking is normally a hassle during the daytime, but at night it's a breeze. Strangely, there was still a sign up for paid parking, yet signing an iPad near the bar will somehow negate the charge for 3 hours. Just outside the door, there are also "guards" who patrol the lot on foot (#1) and many cigs are disposed of in the process. It's likely they'll end up at the bar patrolling their own drinks instead. Most Richmond nightlife is very Chinese and Spark is no exception. The staff is multilingual, but most patrons here are Mandarin speaking. Folks have known the place to be a haven for karaoke and nightly food specials, but we were here for cocktails and cocktails only. There was plenty of space and abundant seating in very intimate lighting with a prominent stage. Coming here on a Tuesday, it was a relaxing evening. The wait staff was prompt, and most of our drinks came out quickly. The osmanthus oolong ($19) was semi-refreshing, but not nearly sweet as the white rabbit ($17) or berrily ever after ($18). The moscow mule ($17) looked decent, though I wonder if the zombie ($22) was worth it. The times to be here are absolutely the weekend. All weekend they have live music and more food specials. I think it would be an interesting time to take advantage of one of their private only areas for group time, and while I suspect the food is mid at best, I will likely be back to sample everything they do well. The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Initially perplexed,…read moresince our Uber dropped us off one block away, we had no idea where we were in the dark of the Canadian night. Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. You won't be disappointed about either one.

I have a friend who loves to drink so when he was back in town, I bookmarked this place to bring…read morehim to as I saw many great reviews and pictures. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.
