Love coming to Brothmonger, because they change up their menu so often that it keeps everything exciting. Most recently they have a roast beef sandwich (roast beefy weefs) on their menu and it is AMAZING. It is stuffed with rare roast beef, has horseradish, onion and cheese on rye. It's honestly probably the best sandwich I've ever tried and I will be coming back for this. I hope they don't get rid of it!!

Went to Brothmonger recently for some soup and a sandwich on a cold cloudy day. This place gets a lot of foot traffic from the hospital and surrounding areas. My wife and I split a cup of the Minestrone and the Italian Wedding hoagie. The soup was decent at best, tons of vegetables packed into a cup, my one complaint was it wasn't piping hot like I enjoy my soup to be. The hoagie is served kind of cold, good flavor true to Italian wedding and no shortage of meat and toppings, the provolone and braised greens stood out on it. Little disturbing the amount of flies going around with no lids on the cans. It's counter service with a couple small tables inside, it's soup and speciality sandwiches with a passionate chef make this place worth trying out!

I got the boyfriend sandwich (pesto on focaccia bread) which was highly recommended to me by friends and pretty good, I will say my sandwich was much smaller than the buffalo chicken wrap for what was comparable pricing. The Mac and cheese was tasty- There was only one left in the fridge, they said another batch would be ready in a few hours, so we grabbed the last one and they microwaved it so we could eat it in the restaurant.

Tiny soup & sandwich spot in Bloomfield with daily and weekly soup offerings and a couple staple sandwiches. I ordered a pint of the red pepper bisque, a slice of tomato pie, and a cucumber salad. Everything is super fresh and 100% made with love. The dining area is very small and intimately cozy, like you're at your best friend's house. I ordered my food to-go, and it came out quickly. The cucumbers had a Korean-inspired dressing on them and were very crunchy. The soup had so much depth and creaminess - it tasted like there was cream in it, but it was vegan! The tomato pie is insane. It's crispy, greasy with the olive oil drizzle, salty, tangy, and just overall amazing. I'd come for that alone, it was so good!! 100/10 experience.

This little shop is a total gem. They serve hot, fresh soup daily (clearly labeled vegan, vegetarian, GF, nut free), plus the best sea salt + herb focaccia I've ever had. You can also grab pints to go, and their chalkboard menu features rotating soups, sandwiches, salads, pastas -- and the most amazing pizza on their focaccia. Just ask for no parmesan to make it vegan! The space is small and cozy with a cute table inside, and they post their weekly soup schedule on their website and Instagram. Can't recommend it enough -- comforting, flavorful, and thoughtfully made.

Brothmonger has been on my list of new hot spots to check out for a while, so when I was running errands in Lawrenceville I needed to stop in. From the second I walked in, the vibes were excellent. The spot is fairly unassuming yet cozy. Very few tables for sitting down, but customers are willing to share their space with you. I ended up ordering the Hungarian mushroom soup and a slice of the tomato pie. Both were absolutely delicious. The soup was creamy and earthy, but not overpowering on the latter. The tomato pie was so flavorful and tasted extremely fresh. Hands down the best tomato pie slice I've had in the Burgh. Service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend this spot to soup lovers out there. I know I'll be back to try a grab and go quart from their fridge.

I had a few of their to-go soups a few months ago, and was blown away by their cold dill/summer vegetables soup so I was interesting in seeing what they churned out in person. I tried their Italian meatball hoagie which tasted exactly like the soup in sandwich form-- their meatballs were very juicy and the hoagie held up really well even when dipped in the side of chicken jus. It was packed even on a late Saturday afternoon-- come early to have the most options because by 2 pm their to go fridge was almost cleared out and they had 1/3 hot soups left.

Definitely home of one of the best sandwiches in Pittsburgh along with many delicious sides and soups! Great lunch spot for a quick grab and go or they have a few seats inside too. The cooler is always stocked with lots of chilled to go items and they offer limited hit items as well. Always quick and friendly service! And bonus... every time I've been in, they are playing some cool music!

A real highlight on a recent trip to Pittsburgh. Brothmonger has taken up residence in a small space, with just a few tables and couches and a walk-up counter. If you're meeting a few people for lunch, you're rolling the dice a little -- there's not a lot of space here. But we were all very happy with our soups, and the grilled cheese as well. And I think a lot of the appeal here is getting a soup or two to-go rather than eating it in house. At $14 a quart, the price point is very reasonable. And they're guaranteed to have several warm options as well as some additional choices that are to-go only, as well as potato salad and the like in the refrigerator (unless they've sold out of everything). Something for everyone. For me, the real tip-off that there was talent working in the back was the focaccia, which I meant to eat with my soup but I had devoured it before the soup ever came out. I see a ton of places serving comfort food out there, but too often it's in the form of pizza or burgers. Soup season is every season, especially if the soup is this good.

I was a huge fan back during the Pandemic and she was an Instagram phenom. You have a choice of dining it with a soup and sandwich or grabbing a quart to go. Everything is delicious and heartwarming. It all tastes homemade, that is of your mom was a magical Brothmonger. The ambiance is casual and a rather Bohemian. There's just 3 tables and a couch. There are a lot of great houseplants.

I go here if I want a super flavorful sandwich. Got the Morty sandwich and I really liked it--super strong pesto flavor. The women working were extremely kind and I will definitely be back to try soups for the fall. Would love to see them offer a homemade gluten free bread.

I'm a fan girl, grabbing soup down the street at Gina's or at LID this summer. I'm so happy they have a spot in Bloomfield now. Needing some lunch on Friday, I stopped in Brothmonger to get a chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese. Seeing the fridge, I grabbed a crab bisque for later. The chicken noodle soup is so flavorful. The noddles are big and in perfect condition (not soggy that it can get when cooked in broth). The grilled cheese is so delightful and perfect for a cooler day. The next day I have the crab bisque for lunch. It's delicious. Rich and with good chunks of crab. Best crab bisque I've had! People are friendly and service is efficient. I'll try to actually eat in next time as it's super cozy vibes.

I thought this Christmas pop up bar was really cute! I honestly wasn't sure what to expect,…read moreespecially because we were going to Greenfield for it. I ran the Greenfield Glide 5k when I was younger, and that was pretty much all I knew about Greenfield. We drove down the street that was lined with lit up Christmas trees and saw Hough's Bar on the corner. The pop up was located right next door. We found a parking spot easily and headed in. The space was exactly what the photos and videos looked like. It was super cute and they had lots of fun backdrops for photo opps. The workers were dressed up like elves, and the girl running it was so cheery and excited. She checked our tickets and IDs, and gave us a glass of mulled wine. It was piping hot and very strong. I watched her pour it into the crockpot so you could tell it was fresh. I never drink mulled wine so it was a nice festive treat. We took photos in front of the trees, gifts, on the couches, etc. They had holiday music playing, but I wish it would've been louder. It was a quiet atmosphere and people found tables to stand by and chat. I expected this bar to be jam packed, but there were very few people there since it was timed. They had printouts of emojis that were Christmas movie riddles on the center table. If you answered all of them you could take your sheet to the bar for a prize. Their cocktail menu was fun and holiday themed, of course. They also had dessert shots and non alcoholic hot chocolate. We stayed for about an hour and enjoyed our time there. I would definitely go back if they do it again next year!

Major let-down. The advertising for this place looked magical. Bought tickets for a 90-minute spot…read morefor four. Upon arrival, you're given 1/2 small plastic cup of mulled wine that tasted almost medicinal from the cheap booze. Decor looked nothing like the advertising images! There were maybe 4 places to sit and the people who arrived early claimed them and never moved. Cool. Now, as for the bar part... Limited menu, but that was fine because drinks looked interesting. We ordered 3 cocktails ($15 each) and one person ordered a beer (only 2 to choose from), which he was informed they were out of and didn't know when it would be replaced...This was at 3pm on a Saturday. Oof. Cocktails were served in those teeny tiny plastic coupe glasses--the kind you could get at Fineberg's in the strip. They hold mayyybe 4 oz? They tasted fine, but for $15, I expect more than 4 oz. There were silly games on the table, like writing down the "naughtiest" thing you'd done that year. You can choose to participate or not. Fine. But then, one woman dressed as an elf gets on a microphone and announces we're about to do karaoke--whether we want to or not. She says she will shove the mic in your face and you have to sing. Ummm, I did not pay for tickets to get in and overpriced elf-sized cocktails to be forced to do karaoke at 3pm. Ugh. We left after 15 mins total. Do not recommend. Avoid this gimmicky place that's just taking your cash. Many better Christmas bars out there!

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.

The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.
