It was my first time eating in at Mercurio's vs takeout and I'm glad I ventured out. We were seated immediately and the server was kind and efficient. The restaurant itself is small with a very relaxed vibe. The pizza is so much tastier fresh from eating-in vs having it delivered. I really enjoyed the pizza, I'm so glad I didn't give up on this place. I will definitely eat-in moving forward!

We got in right before they were not taking any more customers on a Sunday night. We ordered the Margherita pizza and the Italiano panini. Both were so good...we might have liked the sandwich a tad more!!! We ended the night with some delicious gelato

best pizza i've had in my life and the only pizza i crave. salsicca e funghi is amazing and so is the lasagna (although the lasagna is definitely on the heavier side). their gelato is good too. service can be quite slow unfortunately but otherwise it's great!!

The pizza was SO GOOD! I would definitely recommend to everyone and am already craving to go back. The gelato was good but tastes more like ice cream than the icier gelato I prefer. Pickup was easy and quick, we didn't eat in person so can't comment on the service in that respect beyond that. It seemed very busy and was definitely popular, and couldn't get much of a read on sitting inside. Would love to go back to eat in person there too.

As someone who grew up on pizza in the New York/New Jersey area, I don't typically try too many other pizzas around the US, but as this one came highly recommended, we gave it a shot. We went after 7 on a Monday night, and even then there was over a 30 minute wait, which immediately speaks volumes to how regarded Mercurios is in the area. We got two personal pies: a white and a red. The white was unfortunately, disappointing. While there was some good flavors to it, unfortunately white in this case just means the absence of sauce, and that empty space isn't filled with anything else. This results in patches of cheese and toppings, and other large spaces unoccupied by anything other than the dough. The red was the same, if the voids were filled with sauce. This leads to a much fuller pie and flavor. We finished our meal with a gelato which was exceptional and could stand on its own in a shop dedicated just to that. Overall, if you call the white pie a mulligan, it was a great experience and one of the best pizzas in the area. But the white pizza really is one of the worst I've had, so stay away from that and you'll have a good time.

Incredible Wood Fired Pizza for a Pittsburgh Mini Trip! I stopped here for lunch with my sister to try her favorite Shadyside pizza restaurant. I came for the pizza and left full from a whole pie and waffle cone gelato. I ordered the Margherita Con Bufala with a Diet Coke and finished off my meal with Mango gelato in a waffle cone. Margherita Con Bufala This pizza is the one to get. If you're feeling indecisive or just prefer something simple. This is a safe bet for a stellar pie. According to their menu, this has won awards and my tastebuds agree. The pizza is perfectly thin with an airy springy crust. The San Marzano tomato sauce is sweet and delicious topped with the perfect ratio of Buffalo mozzarella. As others have reviewed, the oil and moisture from tomatoes can "pool" on top of the pie but this is what is expected with fresh ingredients and olive oil drizzle. I happily sopped mine up with the crust. If you're looking for a thick or crunchy crust, this may not be for you. Gelato The mango gelato was refreshing and much creamier than I expected. It's the closest I've had to authentic Italian gelato since visiting Italy two summers ago. Refills for drinks were offered promptly and service was kind and attentive. There was no rush to leave. It's the type of place that leaves you wanting to come back for more in both food and atmosphere. I'm not in Pittsburgh often but when I do come back, this will be on my list. If you're undecided on lunch or dinner for casual, family or even date night occasion, this is an easy yes to impress.

We were a group of six and we waited about 15 minutes to get seated. All the pizza were freshly made onsite and quite tasty. They don't offer samplings for their gelato, but it's weighed by ounces so you can get as little as you want. My favorite was black cherry with chocolate.

Don't know what took me so long to try Mercurios pizza! Delicious Neapolitan style pies. Their burrata was amazing and super filling, it came with tomatoes and bread. The Olive pizza was outstanding! Have to finish dinner there with their gelato! Can't go wrong with any flavor

Really great gelato! They had a lot of options for flavors, and I like that they price by weight! The Dulce de Leche was a perfect blend of salty and sweet, and the texture was spot on for gelato. The small is definitely the perfect amount for one person, unfortunately no samples so I guess I'll have to go back soon to try the other flavors!

    Pizza Del Re (takeout)
    Ryan S.

I got the Pizza Del Re for takeout. It was good (4/5) but not what I was expecting. The crust wasn't crunchy like most thin crusts, but it was still good and felt very light, which I liked. The mushrooms were great too! The service was ok (3/5). I placed the take out order for 7:15 a few hours ahead and got there around 7:20. It was ready around 7:30 but already a little cool when I started to eat it around 7:35. I will definitely try to eat at the restaurant sometime, but it was super packed when I went to pick up the pizza. They had a 1.5 hour wait and a big line for their gelato.

Gluten free Margherita and regular Lasagne Pizza
    Amanda D.

I had seen this place on yelp and I just knew it was gonna be good. I was right. The gluten free crust is also clearly homemade and probably the best gf crust I have had. If you want an Italian wood fire pizza experience this is the place for you. They also have gelato which is so so good! They don't do samples though. There is usually a wait as it gets close to dinner time but definitely worth it. Staff are friendly. Plenty of seating inside.

Fantastic Neapolitan style pizza. The perfect dough! Good service and size, great area. Will be back when we're in Pittsburgh again. The Diavola pizza is one of our all time favorites now.

Nestled in shadyside, a small but busy restaurants has most authentic, Italian pizzas in Pittsburgh. Their pizza dough/crust mimics Italy to a T. Their food is very fresh, clean, and delicious. Their menu has a great list to choose from, so enjoy! They also have over 20 amazing gelato flavors to choose from. The only downside is that you can't sample the gelato. They also have gluten free dough! The service is amazing. All of the servers are really kind and helpful. The food also comes out relatively quickly! Definitely try this place!!
