Not too bad. Came here in between a wedding ceremony and the reception. Satisfying bite to eat, nice crust, ate it all, no crumbs. Would stop by again if I was in the area again.

Overall 5/5: I am not a pizza person and don't eat dairy but wanted a nostalgic New York slice. This place definitely hit the spot. Expensive though, about $55 dollars for a vegan 18-inch Margherita pie with 3 toppings. Was it worth it for the experience? Yes. Would I recommend to someone who wanted to try it at least once for a good dairy-free pizza? Absolutely, I couldn't even tell this was vegan cheese. Would I get it again? Maybe (?) once in a while as a treat with price being the only barrier. Service 5/5: This was great. I came here the other day to inquire about their vegan pizza and just wanted to try a slice. The person found his manager to talk to me about this. They were super friendly and explained to me the situation. This location only sold vegan options in full pies and their other DOP Fast Life location does sell vegan slices, but they didn't try to push me to buy. I came back today and the staff today were also very welcoming. Ambiance 5/5: Rustic red brick interior with warm lighting. It was definitely bustling on a Friday night. Food 5/5: Delicious pizza. I do regret that I ate it cold after driving 30 minutes to pick it up so I did not get the full experience. But the crust was still crunchy. I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.

Brooklyn DOP is a spot I find myself returning to again and again, usually for dining in or a grabbing takeout pie. Seating inside is limited, but when the weather cooperates, their patio is a really lovely place to dine. They have a couple of specialty pies that I really enjoy, especially the winter pie with roasted butternut squash, lightly smoked aged mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, 'nduja, stracciatella, hot honey, and parsley. Personally, I'm always drawn to 'nduja on a pizza and this one has such a great balance of flavors. The classics hold their own too. I recently grabbed a slice of pepperoni and the crust was perfectly crispy.

I was reluctant to try this spot out at first because I always chafe at having to pay fancy prices for pizza, but I'm glad I did, because the pizza here is genuinely fantastic. The interior has limited bar seating, but it was pretty empty when we came for dinner on a weeknight. The bar seats themselves are also plush and feel quite upscale. I like the diner-y pizzeria feel of the inside, with tons of what look like family pictures framed around the place. We tried two slices of the Nonna Mena, which is probably the most expensive slice there for the size (nearly $5 for a small rectangle) because it comes with nice, aged cheese. It was tasty, but not so much better than the regular slices (which are cheaper and larger) that I'd opt for that again. In addition, we got two regular slices of pizza and the pepperoni pinwheel, which comes jam-packed with pepperoni and cheese. Overall, I think the best bang for your buck are the regular (rather than specialty) slices. What makes this place special to me is the pizza dough -- they're somehow able to get it perfectly crispy and even a tiny bit fried on the bottom, so the texture is excellent and addictive.

We stopped in recently for a few slices to bring over to the bar we were at. We saw their window display on the way over do the bar and it looked delicious the Roni Giusepp' Giusepp' NY style, and the DOP margherita were all good. Definitely hit the spot.

This pizzeria was on my to do list for pizza and I finally made my way out here on a Sunday afternoon. The pizzeria's interior had a nice and cozy vibe to it. I ordered a Mushroom Shallot slice. The slice was fantastic and the mushroom and shallot complement each other perfectly with the ricotta. Tom and Jason really did well for themselves with this and their staff was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a destination pizzeria and a must visit when in Brooklyn.

Portnoy didn't disappoint.... That pizza was awesome... thin crust, beautiful developed sauce and great tasting cheese.... Not oily. One bite???? Nope more like three slices!!! Hahahha my daughter and I travel from Long Island just to have the pizza bc we were bored and it was worth it!!!!

Their sign that says they sell vegan pizza by the slice.

Earlier post: They say they sell vegan pizza by the slice, but was told just now that they don't on the weekends...sometimes during the week. They said other people have asked for a vegan slice today already. Seems like a missed opportunity. Edit: So, I was passing by and thought I'd pop in and see if they happened to have a vegan slice despite my earlier experience. They were in the process of making a vegan pie because apparently they made one earlier and it sold out. I waited a few minutes. Got some slices and am happy to report they were delicious.

It's a good slice of pie at a relatively reasonable price. Unfortunately, I got the special slice. The crust is really nice, super thin, crispy but not too crispy. The sauce was very good. The cheese was very good. The meat quality was very good. I did not like the ricotta florets on it. It had squeezed ricotta on it, and I just thought it distracted from the pie. This was just their special pie, so I'd just say don't get something with ricotta on it unless you really enjoy ricotta. I felt like that really dominated the pie. If anything, I would have put hot honey or basil or something on there instead.

Hands down the best from A-Z. We did a mini pizza tour of Brooklyn and this place came out on top in my book. Massive, fresh selection of different pies. You know they're all fresh because they just kept pumping them out. Service is bar none. The woman there as extremely helpful and asked if I wanted any recommendations, which I ALWAYS go with with the house recommends. She recommended the seasonal slice, which was squash, stracciatella, anduille sausage and Mike's hot honey. OMG. That's all I can say. It worked perfectly. It was so good, I has to go back in and I was able to grab the last slice to bring home to my wife. If in the area, don't snooze on this place. Top notch.

Been ordering these pies since Tommy was slinging them out of his apartment kitchen. One of the best slices in Brooklyn, let alone NYC and I'm glad these guys are getting their flowers. What started off as basic pies done extremely well has expanded to seasonal specials and fresh baked bread. Fear not, unlike our dear Icarus, they haven't strayed too close to the sun. My go-to is a plain Giusepp (Brooklyn style), but this time I spiced up my order with garlic knot meatball sliders because why the hell not?? Not sure what more there is to say.

Mmmm my favorite spot to grab a slice. The pepperoni is the best - I love the small little crispy rounds! I also tried the broccoli roll, which is okay but too dry and very broccoli forward. It's best to just stick to the pizza which is so good! The staff is really nice too, one of the slices were kinda small so we got comped another slice to make up for it!

$16 for these 4 small meatball sliders ?

Standard-Issue Nostalgia with a Side of Rushed Hospitality…read more If you enjoy paying in time rather than digital convenience, Lucali's reservation process is a masterclass in performative nostalgia. Arriving at 2 PM to stand in a line for two hours just to get on a list for a 7 PM seating doesn't make the place feel exclusive, it makes it feel like a punishment. But hey, we got a table, so the sacrifice was supposed to be worth it. It wasn't. Lucali is BYOB, which is fine in theory. My party brought two bottles of prosecco, fully prepared for a cozy, rustic evening. The server kindly offered to pop the first bottle, then brought out our glassware: heavy, standard water glasses, fresh out of the commercial dishwasher and literally piping hot. There is a special kind of absurdity in pouring crisp, ice-cold prosecco into a glass that feels like it was just pulled from the depths of hell. To top it off, nobody offered to keep our second bottle chilled. Minor detail, sure, but for a place with this level of cult status, the low-effort service immediately set the tone. To give credit where it's due, the ambiance is legitimately cool. It's dimly lit, atmospheric, and feels like step-back-in-time Brooklyn kitchen. Watching the pizza makers roll out dough using empty wine bottles before shoving them into the roaring brick oven gives off that warm, "Nonna's kitchen" charm. You want to love it. Then the food arrives, and the illusion shatters. Our server gave us the bare minimum rundown: "We have pizza, calzones, and tonight's special pasta." Zero detail, zero enthusiasm. We ordered the pizza and the calzone. The pizza was... fine. Completely fine. But calling this the best pizza in New York feels like collective mass delusion. If you've been to L'Industrie or Mama's Too, Lucali isn't even in the same stratosphere. Then came the calzone, which was allegedly stuffed with five cheeses. The server proudly named four, withholding the fifth as a "secret ingredient." A mystery cheese angle might be fun if the calzone blew your mind, but by the time I took a bite, the gimmick just felt tired. It was a perfectly average calzone wrapped in high-end gatekeeping. The grand finale, however, was the absolute kicker. Just under an hour into our meal, after overhearing the hostess realize she'd botched the table rotation, our server came over with an update: they had overbooked and needed our table. Her gracious solution? "You're welcome to pour the rest of your prosecco into your glasses and finish it outside!" The remaining, warm, prosecco that is... Let's recap the math: two hours waiting on a sidewalk at 2 PM, five hours of waiting for the reservation time, warm glasses for cold bubbles, middle-of-the-road pizza, and a boot out the door in under sixty minutes because they messed up their own seating chart. Disgraceful hospitality masked as old-school Brooklyn charm. If you love mediocre food, lukewarm prosecco in burning hot glassware, and being rushed out to the curb, Lucali is waiting for you. As for me, I won't be back.

It's like I was heaven and was told Ask and you shall receive, we just want you to be happy! Now, I don't know what sort of crack cocaine they put in this Knicks pizza but it had vodka sauce and ricotta, hot honey olive oil and I think a pesto drizzle. Oh my Jesus Christ this was the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life. Savory, a lil sweet, saucy. Lisa was right, don't need ranch for this at all. Also loved the white pie. I'm so sad because I had to leave New York the next day but days later I am still thinking about this pizza. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered a glass of wine, a beer, an arugula salad, and our main food order. Everything started out fine, and the salad came without a problem. But then we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after we had ordered, I asked our waiter where our food was. He apologized and admitted that he had forgotten to put the order in. By that point, we had already watched other tables receive their food, including people who had arrived well after us. We continued waiting, and after roughly 40 minutes or more, our food still had not arrived. At that point, the dining experience was already ruined and we decided to leave. Ironically, just as we were getting ready to go, the food finally started coming out. I told them we no longer wanted it. The waiter did apologize again and offered us a pizza to take with us, which I assume was complimentary, but by then we were simply ready to leave. Even paying the bill became unnecessarily drawn out. We were charged the full amount for the salad, beer, and wine. I sat with a $50 bill ready to pay, was handed the check, and then ended up standing around for another five minutes waiting for someone to actually take the money. There was no apology from the person handling the payment. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciated that our waiter admitted he had forgotten to place the order. But when a restaurant makes that kind of mistake, the recovery matters. After waiting that long, watching later-arriving customers get served, and then having difficulty simply paying and leaving, an apology and a pizza at the very end didn't really fix the experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I can't say the service lived up to the restaurant's reputation.
