Another top notch artisanal slice shop. I'd put them in an elite category with L'Industrie and Lucia of Avenue X for artisanal slices. I believe they use a slightly matured dough and cook in a gas oven which gives the edge an air texture, yet the undercarriage is crunchy and sturdy. Betray your instincts and don't fold the slice! You'll hurt the integrity of the undercarriage. I appreciated the variety of veggie based, meat based, and mixed slices. We shared a spinach pinwheel and a spicy mushroom slice. Toppings for both were great. Maybe slightly under salted in my opinion, but that might have been the intention as they have an elite offering of counter seasonings to spruce up your slices and pinwheels. Loved that they had wine and three draft beers including two local craft options. Maybe eight comfortable high top seats against the wall plus two cleverly designed tables to perfectly grab a slice while standing. Nicely thought out. Service was hospitable and knowledgeable. One of the "higher end" slice shops in the Carroll Gardens/Gowanus/Park Slope corridor. Within this category, I think in my power rankings, I'd rank this better than Norm's and Brooklyn Pizza Market, but a step under F&F. I think it's probably the most expensive out of this bunch too. With that said, this is one of the most solid pizzas in the area. Both their square slices and regular slices are delicious. The ingredients are great, the dough/crust is perfect in their respective form factors. Last time I ordered a couple pies for friends, and the consensus all around was very positive. They have a counter that faces the street you can order from, or also an indoor area. There's a small outdoor dining structure right across from it where you can enjoy your pizza when weather is agreeable. Wish it was open later at times, but this is a very solid pizza place that won't let you down! read more

Really good pizza to stop at if you are in the area. It is not on my top 5 in Brooklyn, but the pizza did the job and I would definitely still return if I were in the area. Ordered a slice of pepperoni, and what elevated the pizza was the bottle of mike's hot honey they had on the table. Great service, fresh pizza with indoor seating! read more

I recently ordered from DOP for the first time. The food was decent but delivery charges an extra $10.00 for service. I will not be ordering again. The service charges have got ridiculous. You include tip and you are paying $15 extra which is not affordable. read more

Came here last night on a self guided pizza slice crawl along 5th. The others were good, but this, for me, is gold standard. Crust crisp like a cracker with just enough and not too much char. I went here because I wanted to check it out. And the girl at the counter that day wasn't really friendly. She was either having a day, or who knows what. Moving on. I saw this pizza and decided to try it. It wasn't that good unfortunately, feels like it's been out there for a while. I did like the feel of the place. But definitely not the pizza it was a bit too burnt for my taste. Glad I just ordered one slice and not more. For what it's worth I'd go elsewhere next time I'm in new york. Uh oh, they now deliver. This is our go to spot because even with delivery the crust is still crunchy and the pies still hot. The ingredients are just so fresh and flavorful that each bite, while simple, is phenomenal. In an area in Brooklyn where there are nearly as many places to grab a slice as there are coffee shops, it's tough to stand out, but this place does exactly that. Their quality stands above their competitors. I also appreciate the little crushed red pepper packets they include in delivery as it's fresher and spicier than what you'd get in the grocery store. We love this place so much we had to buy some merch to show off our support. Can't wait to see what the guys come up with next. read more

DOP has some solid slices of classic NY style pizza. I tried both the cheese slice as well as the pepperoni. Both were delicious with just the right amount of sauce, and cheese, without all the excess grease. They heat up the slices nice and hot and the pizza regains that nice crip. Pizza is 4 out of 5 for me and they get an extra start because they have hot honey available for you add to your slice. read more

I usually steer away from having pizza slices that have been sitting out but being one person I couldn't order a huge pie. The pizza was exceptional. I very, very impressed. Fresh ingredients, high quality, thin with a crunch, and super delicious. The giussep is a classic ny slice with some garlic oil and what seems like fresh grated lemon (it makes it light and fresh). The Margarita is sold and the fresh parm on top is a really nice touch. I love grandma slices and actually don't think there are any good ones around the hood - this one has a great crust (not too think and not too thin) and great sauce. Knocking one star off cause I don't think they have planned well for the influx of customers. Front help is pleasant but a little forgetful! They will work it out. read more

I recently tried this pizza spot for a quick bite to eat after going out to some of the local bars in the area. It is not that big from the outside, but the pizza is delicious. I was a little skeptical about paying four dollars for one slice of pizza, but it really hit the spot and was worth the cost. They even had Mike's hot honey on the side, which you could put on your pizza, which I have not really seen before at any other pizza places. I will definitely try this pizza spot again if I'm in park slope to eat their specialty slices. Delicious. read more

We've only had slices from DOP and they are fantastic. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the crust is nearly perfect-- thin, slightly chewy, and pliable. The standard Margherita hits the spot and I particularly enjoyed the spicy mushroom and shallot. The pepper flakes are baked in with the cheese so there's a pleasant burn of heat coming through each bite. I'm looking forward to trying out other topping combinations. read more

Paid about $30 for a Margherita pie and $15 for 4 sliders. One of the better slices of pizza I've had in awhile! It is pricey for the amount you get but it was worth it. The sliders are the best of both worlds with a garlic knot as the bun and a meatball inside. I would definitely come back again if I am in the area! read more

This is one of the best pizza spots in the city. When they are hitting almost no one can beat them. I had to go witn four stars because sometimes they are reheating and it just doesn't reach the heights you experience when this place is at its best. Still, even then, it's fantastic. Try all the special pies, especially anything with shallots. Most importantly, try the calzone. The pizza here is among the best in the city, but the calzone, with it's hint of smoked mozz, is a full on champ. read more

Having a pizza place this close to my apartment and this good is going to be dangerous. Brooklyn DOP has been working out their opening for a bit now, and had several soft open events (during open streets, Brooklyn Pride, etc.). I've walked by several times before they were open and finally caught them on a Sunday afternoon. Opening is still soft, but they've got a lot of stuff up and running. They've got beer taps going. They have their main ovens in the back, and a reheating station out in front. Plus a walk-up window! Also, Mike's Hot Honey, which is always appreciated! When I was there, they only had a few options left (it was late in the day, to be fair). I grabbed a Grandma slice with sausage, and a regular cheese slice. They were both AMAZING. Great crust - airy, not too dense. Great sauce and cheese, with aged parm sprinkled on top. We got take out, but the place is cute inside. The place is pricier than an average take out pizza place but not compared to other similar places in the neighborhood. We got the Giuseppe (NY style) pizza with sausage and shallots. The sauce was so good, a nice amount of cheese, and high quality toppings. However the dough is denser and has a sour dough quality instead of the light airy pizza I prefer. We also got the garlic knot meatball sliders, which surprisingly did not have any cheese. Pizza was ok. It was definitely not a 8.1 that Portnoy gave. It's a 7.3 for me. Slice is very cheesy. Crisp was ony in certain spots of the crust which was kind of weird. The slice was fresh out of the oven too. The Margherita tasted better but was a complete flop and no crisp. read more

Yes...Go To This Pizza Joint. This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall Brooklyn pizza spot. I felt like I could nearly stand in the middle, extend my arms, and touch both walls I had the Calzone and an Arugula Salad. Good grief!! I happen to be in an area and coming from the West Coast, I'm always looking for a pizza place. The takeout order was for a Giuseppe (NY Style) with 2 toppings - shallots & Roasted mushrooms. For a $30 pie, it was big size and cut into 8 slices which was perfect for 4 people. I personally liked shallots side, my DW would go with mushrooms. There are no good pizza places in San Diego County, so this pizza was a real treat for me and my DW (I just wish for a pint of west Coast IPA beer to wash it down). read more

We have found our new go to for pizza in the slope. Not cheap but we tried both a regular pie and sicilian and both were excellent. Sauce was perfectly seasoned - a frequent downfall of otherwise great pizza, their sauce was EXCELLENT. Crust was crisp and thin on the regular pie and pillowy and just that perfect level of oily on the bottom. Owners were warm and welcoming, giving us a tasty perfectly dressed salad to enjoy on the house. Apparently they do delivery now too and we can't wait to order. read more

I've been a Brooklyn DOP fan since the owner would make pizzas in his apartment during the beginning of the pandemic! I was so excited to learn they opened a brick and mortar location as well. I got an upside down Sicilian (cheese is layered on the dough before the sauce) with shallots and mushrooms along with a specialty pizza with figs and hot honey. Brooklyn DOP is never a miss for me - the crust is crunchy, the ingredients are high quality (from the flour to the olive oil to the cheese), and the sauce is fresh and flavorful. You definitely won't find a dollar slice here but this is truly one of the best spots for artisan pizza read more

Then pop back in the oven for the imported olive oil to permeate and create a beautiful glistening coat. And once cooked he would then graciously cut basil on top of the pie. Dom has now passed but his legacy continues. I've always compared the then pie vs now. And like most things,, nothing beats the original. This is still a very good slice. I once rated them as the best in NYC. Unfortunately, its not at the very top but still on the podium. Coming back feels like you are saying hello to an old friend. If you haven't been, you have to try at least once.

They have a variety of flavors and various sizes including personal to large. The prices are reasonable and portions are filling. I went on a busy Friday night for take out and the host was great. She got me set up and ready within 10 minutes. The shop was busy at 11pm to closing and everyone looked like they were having a good time. It's a bar pizza shop in the heart of Williamsburg. Accepts cash, card and Applepay. Open late! Indoor seating and takeout available. I think outdoor seating is available as well.

The food comes out quick and consistently punches above its weight,easily some of the best in its class. The staff are super friendly and nail that perfect balance between attentive and laid-back, which fits right in with the spot's chill 90s vibe. And do yourself a favor, order the root beer. It comes in a frozen mug and is probably the most uplifting thing you'll ever put in your mouth. Fair warning:,the place gets packed, If you can make a reservation.

We ordered a whole pie half plain and half pepperoni, which is only $2.50 more. What I notice right away is the zesty tomato sauce, which Has love. However, I must admit that the crust was a bit too hard for my taste. Yes! It was crispy, but biting through it was somewhat difficult. Overall a good slice, but maybe the dough was off a bit that day. Regardless, Luigi's Pizza is an institution and I will be back again next time I'm in the area. Hopefully, I get a great slice like the ones I remember from the past.

This is where I go when I want these things. No longer living in NY, it's an hour+ trip, but always worth it. Many pizzas do not reheat well due to rubbish cheese- not L&B- pop it in the oven around 400°F, and let it crisp back up! Also- the Spumoni- it keeps at a nice consistency in the freezer, unlike rubbish American ice cream- which gets like a rock. The only other Spumoni I buy is from Corona. They're both phenomenal in their respective rights. When asked by non-NY'ers which pizza is my favourite- this is number one for Sicilian- not heavy at all. The crust is light, airy, and flavourful. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect- not swimming in greasy cheap cheese. I have the same standards for Neapolitan Pizza. We can discuss that elsewhere. Please never close shop- at least let's celebrate the centenary!

It used to be hard to get a table but we came midweek at around 1.30 and walked straight in, our server was friendly but we do have to wait a while for the bill. I'm giving it 5 stars because the pizza really is iconic, I'd stop by again when I'm in the neighborhood but probably wouldn't make a special trip out here. PS the pizza here is way better than in the Williamsburg Domino Park branch.

Flavor was good tho and if you like thin pizza this is the one. The crust was pretty bland, table next to us didn't even eat the crust. Also got the straigatella with bread. Basically cheese and bread. The bread was the highlight of the day, better than the pizza.

That said, my overall rating takes a big hit solely for the restaurants ridiculous tipping policy choices rather than the food itself. The automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill was frustrating. The menu does indicate that 18%, will automatically apply, or will be 20% for parties of six or more. We were only three people, so it felt inconsistent and unnecessary. On top of that, the added cost for credit card usage didn't help. I don't mind tipping for good service! In fact, I tip well--but I prefer having the choice and I'm old school so it's the principle of the matter. Being forced into it, takes away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Bottom line: the food is strong and worth trying, but the billing practices leave a bad taste. If those were adjusted, this could easily be a higher-rated experience.
