There are plenty of parking spaces. I ordered from the benedict section, where you can choose any two benedicts from the menu. I chose Smoked Salmon Benedict and Golden State Benedict with a side of hashbrowns. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was good with the hollandaise sauce. The Golden State Benedict was also good and not spicy (even if it has a chili pepper icon next to the name on the menu). The only spicy thing was the Sriracha sauce. The hashbrowns were bland without ketchup and not crispy. Overall, everything was pretty good! If you feel like you'll come here often, download their app ahead of time to earn rewards. You get 50 points for joining. Ask the server to scan your app barcode on the spot because I've been trying to put in my barcode manually after the fact, and it hasn't been working which is a shame because our bill was over $84 for a family of 4 (which doesn't include the tip we paid). Stopped by for the (super busy) grand opening to the newest addition to the crosswords plaza in Irvine. Ordered the cinnamon pancakes, meat lover skillet and Chicken and waffles. The cinnamon pancakes were fluffy and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The skillet was hearty and can definitely fill you up even if you have a big appetite. The chicken that came with the chicken and waffle was a bit dry but overall delicious. Very glad to have a broken yolk now in Irvine. Staff was friendly and the interior is clean and new. Parking can be tricky during busy hours as there are nearby shops, restaurants and a gym. read more

First timers. Went for a quick midweek breakfast around 9:30am for two. There was plenty of seating. With about 2-3 servers and a bartender per usual I suspect for midweek service. Got seated right away and our server took our drink order. No introduction no name just asked for the drink order. Very soft spoken, slender, clean cut male server. The receipt said server #3811 I believe.. no name still. No personality really maybe hungover? I'm not sure. We ordered our meals and when I asked for blueberries for my Mom's pancakes he responded "If you want, yeah." A simple yes or okay would have been fine. Maybe miscommunication. Maybe I'm being nit-picky. I ordered a coffee and when I asked for non-dairy creamer, he said they didn't have any. So I had to point at the other table with a cup of prepackaged creamers to which he got me. The top one was used/empty.... He brought the food and the usually "anything else" so I asked for ketchup. No check ins until the end of the meal with a coffee refill and I asked for the check. He made sure to remind me to sign up for the points reward program. Seems like the whole time, he was just phoning it in. The food came out quick and hot. It was actually really good though so Im glad we got a chance to try this place for the first time. I got the Mom's omelette and my Mom got a traditional american breakfast. Good hearty portions. The pancakes and toast were really good. The food was the saving grace. Did I mention it was freezing in there? Lol I run hot and thought it was pretty cold. Guests were putting on jackets before their meals. My food cooled down quite a bit by halfway thru our meals. On the positive side the food came out quickly and the ambiance was nice. Food quality was standard for any diner/breakfast restaurant. I would rate the food on par with ihop. We encountered a few issues with our visit. 1. Wait time We joined the yelp waitlist which initially stated a 15 to 30 minute wait. We waited in the car for over an hour until we were 5th on the waitlist. Upon checking in with the host they continued to seat other groups and we remained 5th on the waitlist. I asked the host and was given the excuse that you need to check in with the host even if you're on the waitlist or the will not seat you. I tried to explain that defeats the point of joining the yelp waitlist. Additionally once you check in you're put on a separate waitlist; they do not go down the actual waitlist from yelp when seating. We were only seated quickly after that because I spoke up about how ridiculous the waitlist issue was. Overall we waited an hour and a half versus 30 minutes if they had gone down the waitlist as they should have. 2. Pricing We had upgraded the drink on a kids meal to a smoothie which was listed as a $3.95 charge on the menu. We were charged $4.25 for the upgrade. When I brought it up they reviewed it with the manager and ended up giving us 20% off the bill. Overall given the issues we experienced, we will not be returning. read more

This new Broken Yolk location is on point. Hostess greeted me with a friendly hello and a smile. Walking to my seat all the servers smiled too. Jelly the bartender and server welcomed me promptly. Within a minute Jelly took my order, classic eggs benedict coffee and ice water. Five minutes later the order was presented, plated neatly and hot. I noticed how Kelly was very attentive to all the customers at the bar. Everyone at the bar was content. She is very positive and genuinely listens to some of the customers stories...she has regulars. It's nice to find a local establishment, sit and hear the stories of strangers whether you agree with them or not, it's good to just stop, live in the moment and listen. You never know what you may learn. It's what you learn after knowing it all that counts. She is good at that. All the staff here is on top of their game. That's a sign of good management. Even had a laugh with Miguel another server who said Kelly's name is Miguel when I said I would post a good review on Yelp. So ask for Kelly when you are seated here, AKA Miguel. LOL! Customer service rocks. You can get your meals within 10-15 minutes ( a shorter wait time than Denny's). Some of the food's good. I ordered a breakfast which consisted of 2 chocolate chip pancakes alongside scrambled eggs and sausages plus butter and maple syrup. I've ordered several times on DoorDash. Each time is close to $40 but 9 out of 10 times they failed to give me the for 4 syrups and 4 butters I've specifically asked for. He's very accommodating to my allergy, I have celiac disease and always feel super safe ordering with him. Came here on a Thursday, not busy at all, we were seated pretty quick. The service was pretty good and the eggs Benedict I ordered were tasty! My friend ordered the omelette but could have been better. I had ordered a hot chocolate, and upon drinking it, was cold, quite ironic. Our waitress Alicia completely neglected and left us waiting on her the entire lunch service. The restaurant was not busy on a Tuesday afternoon. We were constantly waiting on Alicia to order, to get our water, to get our food and drink order in etc. Silverware was missing for a while. Our waters and my unlimited coffee were never refilled. Alicia never came to check on us so grabbing her attention was difficult. At one point, she was a table away but we couldn't get her attention despite waving to her. Of course she brought us the bill when we were barely about done with lunch. Food was honestly super mid. Restrooms were unkept and had no toilet paper. We decided to sit ạt the bar counter since there was no waiting. It was a positive jovial vibe that morning. The Grinch was walking around the restaurant giving out candy canes. We even got a pic with him. Our server was friendly and helpful. I'm sorry, I forgot to note her name and it stinks getting old and forgetting things. Now for the food, I had an omelet with ham and my friend had The Mom omelet. It was just ok. Both omelets lacked seasoning so we made some adjustments with the condiments available on the table. Food looked good, restaurant was open and had lots of room and the service was pretty good. My wife and I love to have breakfast and I cook an omelette at home and grade everywhere I go based on the quality of the omelette and this was by far the worst time that I've ever eaten. It had pieces of shells in it and it tasted horrible and the stuff inside the omelette was like mush, and you couldn't decipher what was in it. If you have high blood sugar from certain meals, omelettes are great that the fruit I just gave to my wife and the only other substitution options were bred. If you're a diabetic, you know that you can't eat bread because it has sugar. Overall will never return here again, and my wife's meal actually looked quite good and I would put it up there with snooze in terms of the quality and the way it looked, but my omelette was absolutely tasteless and horrible. I paid the $55 bill I ensure to give them 20% but let them know upfront will never be back. You can't blame the waitress for this and she did the best she could, but I don't think it would've been any different if they would've made another omelette. read more

Service from our waitress was good but she was completely overloaded, short staffed with a full section. The kitchen seemed to be very slow as we waited a long time for food and we could see the wait staff was hopping so the fault wasn't on them. Seems to be a management issue for the long delay. We ordered biscuits and gravy with fruit. It managed to be both under seasoned (gravy and biscuits were bland) AND over salty (flavor of the sausage patty was predominantly salt). We also ordered the waffle sandwich with home fries. We asked for poached eggs instead of scrambled. The waitress said okay but the eggs took an additional 10 minutes to arrive. I know they make poached eggs here, there's an entire section of Benedicts on the menu so why the holdup? Weird home fries here. I was expecting cubed potatoes, maybe some onions and green peppers in the mix. What we got was sauteed sliced potatoes. At first I thought we were mistakenly given the hash browns but other tables had what looked like the same potatoes except they were slivered. Okay. Ambiance is unpleasant unless you like a very noisy dining room with voices and coffee bean grinders ricocheting ceaselessly. No soft surfaces to absorb the sound so it's pretty hard to talk or order food, we had to repeat what we wanted several times and when our waitress recited back what she heard it was still wrong. Glad she repeated back the orders because that would have been a lot of do-overs if she hadn't. Perhaps that was a skill she developed while working here. Overall the best part was the service. Honestly just a really mid place for pricing thats a little too much for what you get. We got short stack pancakes, short stack chocolate pancakes combo with eggs and bacon, and skillet hash. Chocolate chip pancakes were just the short stack with choc chips piled on top. I tried the pancakes and they were gummy and slimy with the syrup. The hash skillet while still kind of tasty was basically all potato hash. Most of the food came out fast except the choc chip pancakes for my kid. The server was pretty attentive and friendly but when it came time to pay, they were no where to be seen and took forever when we were just trying to leave. I asked the busser if we pay up front and he said he could get someone but it still took a long time. While service did pick up by the end of our visit, the count still wasnt crazy and this was well before church rush on a sunday. Everything is nice inside and is apparent its all still looking new.
