Brewhaus looks unassuming from the outside. Just another bar. Not terribly impressive inside either with typical bar tables and chairs, and a patio that can be opened onto the main bar in nice weather. The patio does have a great view of Coolidge Park and the bridge. But the food!! If you like German food, this is the place to go in Chattanooga!! My parents were visiting over the holidays and we were initially headed to another restaurant, which ended up being closed but my dad loves German food so we decided to try Brewhaus. Being a member of the Elite squad I took advantage of my free pretzel which came with a variety of homemade beer mustards. The pretzel was incredible!! I ordered the schnitzel with Jaeger gravy, brussel sprouts in a cherry beer sauce and spaetzle. All delicious. My dad ordered schnitzel, spaetzle and some kind of cabbage. My mom ordered the sausage platter. Unfortunately it came out cold, which the fixed immediately. The food was a good and there was enough of both mine and my mom's to take home for another. Service was great! I'd definitely come back. read more

You guys. So dang good! We stopped here after doing some shopping in the North Shore district, and it may have been my favorite stop! We got beers and a GIANT pretzel. It came with three dipping sauces: pimento cheese, stone-ground mustard, and beer cheese. I wanted to drink the beer cheese. It was amazing! The grapefruit Stiegl Radler was my fave!! read more

We just dropped in here while exploring the downtown area. We just got the sampler and it was plenty of food for the both of us. Everything was super fresh and the mustards were super flavorful. My girlfriend's favorite were the kraut balls. They were packed with flavor, and they were really good with the mustards. I would also highly recommend getting the pimento cheese. It definitely tasted homemade and was some of the best I've ever had. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping in for a beer and some great German food!! read more

Good place to eat a pretzel while sipping on a beer and checking out the view. Really good pretzel, couldn't finish it as we were already full. Good selection of beers. Service was very good. Couldn't hear the music very well outside but didn't really matter. Overall good place to check out if in the area. read more

Went to this place on the north side of the river by the walking bridge. Good beers, try the King Ludwig sandwich (schnitzel, kraut, bacon, apple butter and cheese on sourdough) with either the purple cabbage or spaetzle. Loooove Brewhaus. The menu is simple and stands out in town, service is good, and prices are great. I do wish their hours were longer/a little later so I could go more-often, but it's still a nice treat whenever I can make it. Get that pretzel!!! read more

This is a staple on the North Shore. I used to come here all the time for Tuesday trivia in the past, but recently came for dinner for the first time a while. It seems they recently added some more vegetarian options the menu. My favorite item on their menu is the pretzel with bier cheese (upcharge) and mustard. You do need to mindful of the upcharges here as they can really add up. I usually get the Hefeweizen to drink here. I have had the kraut balls multiple times and they are not very good in my opinion. I used to get kraut balls from Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh all the time, but they just don't seem to compete here. The location in great with a beautiful view of the Walnut Street Walking Bridge. If you are craving German food in Chattanooga, this is the spot for you! read more

Visiting from Kentucky and looking for something different. Stumbled across the only German food in Chattanooga - Brewhaus. Rivers, the bartender, served as our waiter. Great service! Very friendly. Check in on Yelp for a free pretzel and 3 mustard selections. The cherry mustard was unique and very good. I had the Brewhaha. If you like sausage and brats; you have to try. German potato salad, kraut, and mixed vegetables rounded out the entree. Food was hot and very tasty. Finally, the view was wonderful! Thanks! read more

Hubby and I stopped here for a quick beer and "a quick bite" until an early dinner, which was already planned. We had a sampler platter with a HUGE pretzel, three bratwurst sliders, and I forget how many kraut balls. I ate the pretzel and hubby ate the other food...all was delicious. They have a good beer selection. Will definitely go back. read more

The back deck is the perfect place for lunch. Even when it's really hot out, the deck seems cool & breezy. Great view of the river. Solid food & cold beer. The pretzel. Get the pretzel. It's soft and doughy inside with a crispy outer shell. Served with 3 unique mustards that I put on everything. It was my favorite item. You really can't go wrong with any of the sausages if you're into cased meats. Honestly, they're all great. If you go the schnitzel route, I'd recommend the plate over the sandwich. It was super tasty, just a little unmanageable on the bread. Good for groups too if you have a bunch. I think we sat 6 or 7 pretty easily & comfortably. read more

The pretzel that you can get for free from a check-in was great. Lightly salted and soft. I just ordered a simple sausage with the pretzel bun with a side. It was a small portion but perfect for me since I have such a small appetite! Unfortunately didn't try the schnitzel which seems like one of their main dishes. read more

First restaurant we stopped at in Chattanooga and how great it was. Pretzel was perfection (and I am picky about my pretzels) , crispy on outside, soft on inside, not greasy and huge. The mustards and beer cheese were excellent as well. Never had cherry mustard before and now I need it all the time. My husband got a brot with pimento cheese and pickles on pretzel bread and loved it. I had the half order plain schnitzel (with my cherry mustard) and the Brussels sprouts. Both were excellent and perfect portion with the pretzel. We also got a beer and their special lavender gin drink. Both were great as well. Service and atmosphere were excellent as well. We will probably be back again in the same trip. Go check it out! read more

Went for a birthday dinner and had a great time on the patio. Chilly night, but they had plastic curtains up and patio heaters going. Excellent vegan dog with kraut, inions, mushrooms, etc. Pretzel bun and speciality mustards were awesome! I signed in on Yelp and got a free appetizer pretzel, which is huge and awesome! A MUST EAT IN Chattanooga!!! Brewhaus is one of my favorite spots, the staff is friendly and the owner Hunter is great. The place has a certain feel to it you just don't get many places. Usually a pretty chill crowd with a good mix of people - professionals, students, retirees, and your occasional out of towner. If you're looking for a place to get loud and rowdy and yell obscenities while smashing beer- look somewhere else. This is just a classic chilled out brew pub where people want to enjoy a good drink with friends. The food is ridiculously good. I come from a German family and everything here reminds me of GRANDMA!! And I love it! Because honestly, who doesn't love their grandmas food??? Suggestions - Beer, and lots of it. Try the Schneider Weisse. Kraut balls are a must and the pretzels are fire. The brats are awesome - try them all and don't forget to add kraut!!! Also try the king Ludwig and you better put an egg on there! For sides - I beg you, please try the sprouts. They delicious. read more

My reviews are usually tame but I have to be frank, food was at most "acceptable". Drinks were good. Schnitzel? Hard, dry, edges over cooked, brusselsprouts overcooked and soggy. I was really excited when I saw the restaurant and the menu but definitely not going back. No free pretzel as the site states with orders as an appetizer.....all in all, the worst we had all weekend in Chattanooga. Service was ok. Wait staff seemed bored for a Saturday afternoon. read more

German style beer and restaurant that has a view to die for. Be sure to go to this restaurant an hour to 30 minutes before sunset you will not be disappointed. The beer is good their IPA selection is limited but the view is just amazing we grabbed the appetizer sampler which was plenty of food for two people and you get to try all the different German mustard's. And this is a perfect place to go right after walking the bridge. We will definitely be back soon and for sure right around sunset. read more

I should preface this by saying I did not drink and did not eat while I was here. My friends did drink (and really loved their drinks) and the food looked insanely good. I was able to peek at dishes and smell glorious smells coming out of the kitchen. German food is awesome because it's hearty, good stuff. The choices are sure to satisfy you whether you are German or not. The view during sunset is also pretty unbeatable. read more

I was happy that I was able to select my own sides from the ones on the menu so I opted for the fried Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon and the buttermilk whipped potatoes. After a short wait, our food was brought out. This was truly one of the best salmon dishes I have ever eaten! The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online. Ask the servers at the front to validate to save the $18 parking fee before you order and within 15 minutes after entering. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the restaurant cannot reimburse the money after you've already paid. You've been warned!

Nothing arrives looking like it spent twenty minutes being positioned with tweezers. It's meat, bread, potatoes, pickles and sauce--the sort of food that requires napkins and leaves evidence. The Reuben is borderline obscene. A heap of deeply colored, tender meat barely contained between aggressively toasted bread, melted cheese and pickles. It's messy. It falls apart. You stop caring almost immediately. The turkey club is the quieter surprise. Thick slices of actual turkey--not the sad, uniformly circular stuff that's been haunting office refrigerators since the Eisenhower administration--piled onto grilled bread with bacon, avocado and enough richness to make the whole thing work. Then there are the potatoes: thick, fried rounds with crisp, dark edges and soft centers, served without ceremony alongside ketchup and a creamy orange sauce. Simple food done properly. There's nowhere for bad technique to hide. And that's really the appeal of Main Street Meats. They're not trying to convince you that lunch needs a backstory. The remade burgers were moist and better but still not fantastic. They were just burgers with minimal toppings on them. Not really seasoned and the flavor came from the toppings themselves. The buns were still too big for the burgers so there was a lot of extra bread and they have potential to be great but they were just average. Would have probably been a three star review but the staff and drink selection really earned the extra star. Would go back to drink and maybe snack but probably not order a burger.

I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... But if you order one thing at that restaurant, I demand it be that cake. The person handling those cakes went to the Hogwarts' Academy of Culinary Wizardry. I can hardly describe it and I have no idea what flavor ice cream is on top except it's the best one. If you like food, but especially butterscotch, or not - you need this cake. I blacked out after that and woke up here on Yelp, so... Please go try that cake.

On that note, it is difficult to eat at times because the patty comes apart, I would ask for a fork and I'm sure you will receive. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. We just had lunch and it was probably the worst lunch I've had in Chattanooga. We both got the build your own brats. I had the grilled brat with Swiss cheese grilled onions and peppers. My boyfriend had the spicy brat with cheddar cheese grilled onions bacon and herb mayo. They were both very bland with the exception that mine tasted like dawn dishwashing soap for some odd reason. Now for the sides I had the Brussels sprouts and he had the German potato salad and both came out with a ton of grease and just looked unappetizing to say the least. There was only a group of two other people on the entire restaurant and the service was terrible. Maybe we just ate there on a bad day but I'll never be back to know for sure. read more

The food is generally good, but the quality has been slipping lately. The Cherry Ale Chicken was my favorite dish in Chattanooga at one point, but recently the chicken is over cooked, tough, and dry. Where there was once an interesting bitter mustard topping with dried cherries, there might just be the topping with no dried cherries or no topping at all with just bare chicken with some cherries tossed on top. The beers and wine are good. The outdoor biergarten area is a good idea, but the smokers ruin it for everyone else. read more

She brought menus, and never came to our table again. Then a young male came to our table and took our food orders. After waiting for at least 40 minutes, we had gotten two alcoholic beverages. One of us never got the beer he ordered. Nobody ever came to say anything about the long wait or if we had anything else to drink, etc. I observed that others in the restaurant also did not get their food that they ordered before we had placed our order. We left $20 on the table to pay more than enough for the two drinks we got and walked out. Very odd experience. It will be our last one at this place.

If you've been up on Signal Mountain, you know just how beautiful that setting is. Civil Provisions is a cute spot, with equal seating inside and out. While I was there to sample their burger entry, everyone else ordered off menu, which from my perspective, was underwhelming. I'm not exactly sure what this place is trying to be, based upon their everyday menu. While our server was very pleasant, overall, service was very slow. The food, and this was a consistent theme at our table, was just average. As much as I enjoyed the setting, there is nothing from my experience that will stimulate my return. There are just too many superior options in town.
