It's gotten to a point where I literally crave their popcorn chicken on random days. I literally can't survive without Breaktime because it's the only boba shop near my work office, so at this point I'm reliant on them staying open forever?? I got here right when they opened. Place was obviously cleaned for opening. The worker was very friendly, and made the drinks quickly. I always get no sugar which risks the tea being severely oversteeped, but mine was perfect. Ambiance is basic tea and snack place in a good way. I'd be back for sure! read more

Breaktime is pretty popular since its right next to SJSU. My favorite drink has to be the Roasted Oolong Milk tea and boba here is actually well made. The oolong doesn't have much roasted flavor, but I still think its yummy and probably one of the best drinks here. I also like the popcorn chicken. You get a lot of big pieces and can choose from regular or spicy. I picked spicy but didn't taste it, so I'm not sure if that's the flavor or they forgot. They also let me get extra chili sauce! The food here is always great except that their chicken sometimes tastes unusual sometimes. But one thing I noticed was that the music has a ton of profanity in it and customers were leaving just because of the degrading music, one of the Lyrics happy birthday b***tch like have someore class when choosing music please? Also the girl working that day got mad at me for accidentally spilling a little cup of water because the table was uneven. And proceeded to get mad and stomp her foot and gave me and my friend a dirty look because she had to clean up a small water spill. My friend didn't take offense as much but told her don't be mad. But to me it seemed rude. And poor customer service skills. In the end she didn't apologize and she was nice afterwards but it made me not want to come back again even though I love breaktime's food and can ignore a bit of profanity. A nice, small spot with really good popcorn chicken at SJ downtown. There aren't a lot of seatings and the service was straightforward. I got a mango green tea and spicy popcorn chicken. Not sure if it's because it's in downtown and close to SJSU, but this was on the pricey side (around $16 total). I think the popcorn chicken was worth it though considering the proportion is decent. The popcorn chicken comes with a sauce and was so crispy and juicy! It was one of the best I've had and steaming hot when I got it. However, if you get it in spicy, be aware that the chili powder can be really spicy! I enjoyed the flavor but it was too spicy for me after eating a few. The mango green tea was refreshing and solid. My friend goes to SJSU and we both wanted boba but didn't want to go too far. We looked up what was close and found Breaktime Tea. This was my first time here so I didn't know what to expect but as someone who loves milk tea /tea in general, I had to try it. When I go to new places, I try to get the ones that sound familiar so I compare the sweetness (some are water down or too sweet) but this was just right for me. We got black sugar boba milk and honey green tea. They were both amazing and refreshing, especially the honey tea. They also weren't too pricey. The sugar levels can be a bit too sweet for some so you may not like it too much but you can get less sugar for the drinks so if you do get these drinks. The tea barista was so nice and patient. We stood there for a while since we weren't too sure what to get. They helped us quickly so we got our drink in 2-3 minutes after the order. They have seating, but it can get filled up quickly and the vibe is very cozy. I don't think they have a bathroom but the SJSU library is close by, if you need one If you are close to SJSU and need something sweet or a "break", check out Breaktime Tea. However, they've definitely gotten my seal of approval as one to return back to again and again. The shop is located close to San Jose State so I assume a lot of students like to come here. The vibe is very casual with a small seating area inside. Their drinks here were fantastic. I ordered an Oolong Milk Tea with Boba (non-dairy creamer is used) and it was a solid drink. My partner had a Fruit Tea here and my goodness, it was better than my own drink. Even with half sugar on both drinks, it was still plenty sweet so we advise you to do the same. Only issue I had was that the air conditioning wasn't working when we went so it was hot and stuffy inside. There are some chairs and tables inside for you to enjoy your boba at or to study, but they are pretty busy and packed every time I stop by here. I used to really enjoy their jasmine milk tea with boba, but I feel like the last couple times I had been here, it has been a miss for me. Their milk tea tastes a bit grainy compared to usual, while it is not as creamy anymore, instead it has a stronger tea taste now. For $6.99, It was so watered down that I couldn't even detect a hint of the tea's creamy goodness. Super cute boba spot right down the street from SJSU. It can get busy for sure and it's a pretty small space so it gets crowded but the boba is worth it. They have lots of options for milk teas and fresh teas as well as a full snack menu. Originally I wanted the cheese foam oolong but at 1:30 in the afternoon they were out of cheese foam so that's a bummer. Instead I got the oolong milk tea with egg pudding, regular sweet and regular ice. My milk tea was perfect! The right amount of sweetness and so delicious!
