    Hot tea and fish balls
    Jing F.

My go to place because it's just step away from where i live. I usually order avocado smoothie but sometimes they don't have it and i order other drinks and snacks like popcorn chicken as they don't sell fish balls anymore. The staff are nice. They have several tables for patrons. I usually go online and pick up my order.

I got here around 3:30 and there weren't that many people and drinks came out fast. There is also a bathroom you just have to ask for the password for it which is nice. I got the lychee green tea, and it was pretty refreshing. Its more on the pricey side but you get a tall cup. The boba was good but I wish there was more lychee flavor even though there were chunks of lychee. Plenty of tables as well!

Great place for Boba, and all sorts of things on the menu. Great variety, staff is friendly. A great restaurant here!

    Chicken Nibblers on Rice

This is our second time at this location. We have ordered chicken nibblers on rice. The dish is amazing. The chickens are covered with sauces, the chicken tenders are crunchy and very well cooked. It comes with sticky rice and sea weed salad. Overall a must have at this location. Definitely will try again.

Breaktime is pretty popular since its right next to SJSU. My favorite drink has to be the Roasted Oolong Milk tea and boba here is actually well made. The oolong doesn't have much roasted flavor, but I still think its yummy and probably one of the best drinks here. I also like the popcorn chicken. You get a lot of big pieces and can choose from regular or spicy. I picked spicy but didn't taste it, so I'm not sure if that's the flavor or they forgot. They also let me get extra chili sauce! I've tried the chicken nibblers here which isn't bad, but it's reasonably priced for a meal. I think the rice is kinda mushy, but the chicken and seaweed salad is good.

I used to come here all the time when I was a student at SJSU. I visited this shop since I had to drop off a package nearby. I would like to give a shoutout to Jelly for being an amazing barista and helping me with any questions I ad. Mango Green Milk tea (5/5): tasted a bit tarty but tasted great and sweet. Popcorn chicken (3/5): Despite being hot, it was very dry lacked seasoning.

Still one of my favorite spots! Used to go here all the time as an SJSU student to study years ago and still go here now to do work! They always have such amazing employees and chill music too!

Popcorn chicken could use some of the five spices seasoning and does not come with garlic or basil like most other locations with popcorn chicken. It's more of a fried chicken texture versus a popcorn texture. It pretty much comes as is the Boba flavoring for the jasmine milk tea had a good chewy texture and a nice smooth tea flavoring.

A nice, small spot with really good popcorn chicken at SJ downtown. There aren't a lot of seatings and the service was straightforward. I got a mango green tea and spicy popcorn chicken. Not sure if it's because it's in downtown and close to SJSU, but this was on the pricey side (around $16 total). I think the popcorn chicken was worth it though considering the proportion is decent. The popcorn chicken comes with a sauce and was so crispy and juicy! It was one of the best I've had and steaming hot when I got it. However, if you get it in spicy, be aware that the chili powder can be really spicy! I enjoyed the flavor but it was too spicy for me after eating a few. The mango green tea was refreshing and solid. Overall, pretty nice place for some refreshments.

Black Sugar Boba Milk and Honey Green Tea

My friend goes to SJSU and we both wanted boba but didn't want to go too far. We looked up what was close and found Breaktime Tea. This was my first time here so I didn't know what to expect but as someone who loves milk tea /tea in general, I had to try it. When I go to new places, I try to get the ones that sound familiar so I compare the sweetness (some are water down or too sweet) but this was just right for me. We got black sugar boba milk and honey green tea. They were both amazing and refreshing, especially the honey tea. They also weren't too pricey. The sugar levels can be a bit too sweet for some so you may not like it too much but you can get less sugar for the drinks so if you do get these drinks. The tea barista was so nice and patient. We stood there for a while since we weren't too sure what to get. They helped us quickly so we got our drink in 2-3 minutes after the order. They have seating, but it can get filled up quickly and the vibe is very cozy. I don't think they have a bathroom but the SJSU library is close by, if you need one If you are close to SJSU and need something sweet or a "break", check out Breaktime Tea. They also have snacks!!!!

    Sunil R.

I have not had boba in a while and a late-night craving brought me here. I got the avocado smoothie based on a sudden pang of guilt while I was ordering. I should have gotten the regular milk tea since I was not a big fan of the avocado smoothie...too healthy for me. They were out of egg waffle which was which was a bummer. The decor is cool and the popcorn chicken was good.

    Roasted Oolong Milk Tea
    Queenie N.

Came here for boba and wanted to try their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea because it's honestly hard to find a spot with a good roasted oolong and I would definitely say this spot did not disappoint! The music in there is also really good and is a nice ambiance, however it is really loud so it can be hard if you need silence to study, but if you don't mind, it's a great place to get good boba and get work done while vibing to the music!

    Lobster balls
    Irene C.

Came to grab a snack around 330 and the lobster balls hit the spot. The sauce was super good and has a kick, might be a mix of sriracha & ranch! Was looking to try the fish balls but they ran out or it was discontinued. Ordering is quick and you can earn points. Took about 5mins for the lobster balls to come out which i think is reasonable. Every time I come, the place is always packed so it's good for grab & go.

There were a few other tables of people with their laptops out, and I was excited to see that they have expanded since my last visit and added more seating for customers. The lotus milk tea is still one of my favorites in the whole city. We sat at a table so there was no outlet, but I can't remember if there were outlets along the walls for the booth seating. The WiFi worked well and if there was background music it was not being blasted loudly. I would definitely keep this spot top of mind if I needed a reliable spot to work remote again, especially since there is now more seating than there used to be. The whole ensemble of textures and flavors came together very well - it also came with these two aioli type of sauces that really elevated the burrito. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was also delicious, even reheated on the second day. The bun was airy and the bacon was thick and crispy. We also shared truffle tots, which came as plain tots with truffle parmesan. Also delicious. The vienna latte was my favorite drink. The cocoa dusted cream top reminded me of tiramisu, my favorite. The double shot of espresso was rich and strong, and still carried through the thick cream top. The raspberry matcha special had a pleasant raspberry punch but it was too tart overall for my preference. It can get quite noisy, including in their new indoor/outdoor seating area. The line outside can look daunting but it moves quickly. Service was great! We paid about $28pp total. Would love to try the rest of their menu!

I thought it was really cool that they have a slow coffee bar area specifically for pour overs (I think) where tech isn't allowed, so people are just supposed to sit and enjoy their coffee. I've never seen that before in a coffee shop. The menu is extensive. Since it was later in the day, the baked goods were half off, which was a nice surprise. I got a blueberry latte and an Asian fusion focaccia bread. Blueberry latte - I liked this! The blueberry flavor was subtle and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. It added a light fruity note to the coffee without overpowering it. Fusion focaccia bread - This was tasty, but I felt the original price was steep ($12). My piece was around 6" x 3". While this is convenient and typical for drink places, I do think it removes the homey feel to cafes that you get when you can interact with their baristas, and the layer of community is a bit disconnected. While I was there, I ordered the Teddy Graham latte to try out since it seemed like one of their staple drinks when I did my research. The drink itself was good, toasted, with a nice subtle graham flavor. I would say though for $9 per drink, it was overpriced. Overall, to be honest, this is a good area to work, and study with friends, I would come back here for this alone. I would think of the extra drink cost as work from home fee/tax. :)
