First time here! The workers were friendly and the establishment was clean. I loved my tea drink I had. It was refreshing and tasted exactly like a tea drink I use to get back home. On the other hand, the milk tea we had was watered down and the boba balls were either cooked too long or has been sitting. In other words, the boba balls were not fresh because it had that outer layer texture of mushiness. (See the photo! Some of the boba is visibly mushy and had broken apart) They do have a sign that says they will remake your drink if you don't like it but I believe a place should nail their drinks the first time. It's a boba place next to SJSU and probably have student workers so my expectations were not high. Therefore, I will be back to try other drinks and food options. It's not a place that I am dying to go back but more of an optional choice. I think this place would've gotten 5 stars if the boba balls were fresh and the milk tea was better. Every time I go to a boba place I order their milk tea with boba because I believe a boba place should know how to make consistently fresh boba at all times of the day. Inside the store, they have a clipping from a newspaper that rated Breaktime the best in the area beating out gong cha! I ordered the white peach milk tea (you can get it without milk as well) with crystal boba. The crystal boba was good and it seems like they soak in a sugar solution as it was slightly sweet by itself. For the drink, the white peach flavor was great although syrupy. I usually order drinks around 50-75% sugar so when I ordered at 75% sugar, it was still super sweet - to the point that it seemed like 150 or 200% sweetness. I had a sip of the rose milk tea and it wasn't bad but there was this weird aftertaste most likely from the syrup. Overall, Breaktime is just okay but they are super heavy handed with the sugar. read more

This isn't the best place I've ever had for milk teas, but it's always given us a pretty good experience. Lately, we've been ordering through DoorDash for pickup as an afternoon pick me up. We've tried the roasted oolong tea, taro tea, and matcha tea. You can customize with a variety of toppings. So far we've tried honey boba and grass jelly. Both were good! My last time visiting this place was 4 years ago, and it was not a satisfying experience. I was craving for some milk tea while in downtown area and I decided to give it a shot, with the hope that their drinks quality has changed after those years. Fortunately, my Roasted Oolong Milk Tea was not bad at all. I asked for 25% sweetness and it came out perfect. The fresh oolong taste and cream blends in really well. The boba is on the hard and chewy side, but it was freshly made. I wish I'd asked for no ice like I normally do as the other places. Hopefully I won't be extra charged for no ice option. The drinks are pretty decent, but a little bit pricey considering they only have one size. The workers are generally pretty friendly and the line rarely goes out the door, so the wait isn't too bad. Their drinks are decent and they do the job when I am just craving boba and don't want to drive anywhere when I'm at SJSU. They're a little sweet for me, but my boyfriend seems to be okay with their standard sweetness for their milk teas. In my opinion, their less sweet option for some of fruit teas are still really sweet. I usually get their honey lemon green tea, grapefruit sunrise, or some kind of citrus-y green tea. It usually isn't too busy when I go (after 6:30pm during the week) but if it is busy, its because students are studying there or SJSU has some kind of event across the street. The inside of Breaktime is clean and small. There are a few tables, and it feels a bit crowded because they tables are kind of close to each other. The surrounding area is a bit sketchy, so be aware of your surroundings when you're walking to Breaktime or sitting/standing around outside Breaktime. If you're going to hang out after getting drinks, I would recommend either staying inside Breaktime or maybe going across the street to SJSU, rather than standing around outside or sitting outside Breaktime. While they are an easy location to miss when passing by, their quality in service is better than most bobba shops. Their customers seem to be majorly students, since they're near SJSU. There are times we're it is quiet with only the music playing, but they easily fill up. This location is sort of small so their seating is a bit tight and small. I ordered via DoorDash. The delivery and packaging held up. The popcorn chicken was a little over done and some bites were hard and dry. The gyoza were fried to perfection but appears an added sprinkle of salt that was not needed. I do like they provided the dipping sauces. The Oreo smoothie - while I do appreciate they left room for the whip and Oreo toppings so it doesn't mix with the rest of the drink during transportation- it made the drink appear short compared to the matcha green tea. However taste wise it was good - my youngest finished and she barely finishes any drinks. The matcha green milk tea was yummy as well. I love the messages on the top makes me smile when taking a drink. Menu has a wide variety of options which I enjoy! Super friendly staff and very clean and organized! Parking is tricky. I am not happy with the salmon food I got a breaktime. The small Asia lady done my salmon is not right. The salmon is so dry. Used I save salmon to eat on Fridays when I reheat is small stink. I was busy with classes and I needed a pick-me-up nearby. I got Vietnamese coffee with boba and the chicken nibblers on rice. I was surprised because The chicken nibblers on rice is unassumingly delicious and packed with flavor. I used to to go to this place when working around downtown San Jose. Since Breaktime is under new ownership, even I don't work near here anymore I still love to comeback. The place was redecorated much cuter, and menu was added with lots of new drinks. I can't say all of them are good because I haven't try all, but so far I'm satisfied with drinks that I've been ordered. Thai tea is top hit here. The Mocktails menu is a must try, especially Mango Mojito. So refreshing, topped with crunchy fresh mango and mint leaves. Snacks Menu also has many delicious snacks and meals that could make you full for lunch or even dinner. My usual is Takoyaki. I love this Japanese octopus balls, so tasty, crunchy outside, soft inside with a little chewy texture of the octopus bits. I came here with a group of friends during an event. It was a bit late, maybe 7pm or later but definitely not closing time. There is about 2-3 people working and it took wayyyyy too long for my strawberry green tea to be made. The drink was just OK. Maybe I was just more frustrated with the wait time, a good tea doesnt taste as good when you wait for a long time for tea. It was even THAT busy either so I didn't understand why. Since it was also during a convention time, I would of assumed they would hire more people. They even hired someone to pass out flyers to indicate they are open and offer BOGO drinks.
