Sadly, Aroma didn't deliver. What I wanted - and braved the long line for - was a Banana Matcha. I'd heard good things and as a matcha lover I went out of my way to come here for it. When I tried to make it dairy free things went left. I asked for oat milk, which they carry, but was told they couldn't do it because they premake the banana mixture with regular milk. They told me it was just bananas and milk, so naturally I asked if they couldn't just swap the milk? The two counter employees tell me nope, that would be "too difficult" for them. Translation = lazy. So I ordered an oatmilk strawberry matcha instead, which took longer to get than my food order next door. The matcha tasted incredibly watered down and was disappointing. Had I not waited so long to get the drink I would have had them remake it, but I wasn't about to spend half my day here. Definitely wouldn't return.
I really wanted to love this spot more, especially since you can see that each matcha drink is hand-whisked with so much care. It is clear they prioritize quality in their preparation, but unfortunately, the drinks themselves did not quite deliver for me. Both drinks had a beautiful, vibrant green color that looked very promising, but the flavors did not quite live up to the aesthetic. The Pandan Matcha was a bit more balanced in terms of flavor, but the overall texture of both drinks felt a bit off. While I appreciate the craftsmanship and the visual appeal of the drinks, the flavor profile just was not quite there this time. It's a nice spot overall, but I would love to see a bit more richness in the lattes to match the quality of the whisking.
Matcha should be THIS green! We tried the guava li-hing matcha and mango sticky rice matcha, and were highly impressed with the quality and flavor of their ceremonial matcha. Each drink is hand-whisked, so well worth the wait. Their cold foams were delicious and super flavorful as well. I was so excited to try the mango sticky rice matcha, as I hadn't seen this flavor anywhere else. The drink has a creamy salted coconut milk cold foam on top and some mango puree and glutinous rice on the bottom. Once everything was mixed, the mango flavor does get lost unfortunately. But still, the drink was amazing and rich. The guava li-hing matcha was sooo vibrant! I loved how the tropical flavor of the guava cold foam sprinkled with li-hing balanced out the earthy matcha. I've tried other guava matchas with guava puree on the bottom rather than cold foam on top, but I definitely prefer the latter to preserve the matcha flavor. The employees were kind and we came on a weekday afternoon with a short wait. Order at a kiosk. Limited seating inside. I wouldn't say this is an ideal study spot, but it is very aesthetic and bright. Parking was not a problem since this location is in a plaza.
Went in for pickup and staff were friendly and had our drinks ready in a cool place so it wouldn't melt. I thought that was fantastic service. The drinks were good, not my favorite banana cream recipe in the bay area, but pretty good! Matcha tasted rich and flavorful. Overall a great experience.
Finally tried Aroma!! I love that they have both ché and matcha drinks as a person who's a fan of both lol I've been twice now and have tried the earl grey matcha and banana matcha lattes. Between the two, the earl grey has been my favorite! The banana matcha I ordered tasted good, but for some reason the texture tasted quite thick. They hand whisk every matcha here so it can take time to be ready. My most recent visit, I waited about 25 minutes for my drink. The matcha here is nice and fragrant. You can tell that it's good quality! There's a self-service kiosk upon walking in to the left, though you can also order at the register. Decent amount of seating but definitely more of a grab and go spot IMO
Aroma is right next to Tram Coffee and located in a busy plaza. *Warning* Depending on the time and day you go, parking can be a pain to find. Once you enter, you can order at their kiosk or with the staff at the register. We tried the: Pandan milk tea (8/10) Che (dessert drink) (7/10) Mung Bean Milk Tea (6.5/10) A bit on the bland side. It was good. Of the 3 drinks we tried, the Pandan milk tea was my favorite.

I love getting their durian vietnamese coffee here! The durian has a strong flavor and it goes very well with the coffee. I've been here twice and I've always gotten it! I've tried their banana matcha during one occasion and I'm not sure if it was because of the ice, but when I sipped through the cap, it tasted watery/watered down. I couldn't taste much of the banana flavor either, when I tried sipping it through a straw. It seems like people come here for the matcha too, so I'm wondering if mine was just a bad batch? Service was quick and friendly. The menu is very big and they offer other items besides coffee and matcha.
Located in a busy Vietnamese shopping plaza in SJ and surrounded by about 4 other drink places, Aroma always seems to have a line! My group came on a Saturday evening, and everyone wanted Izumi Matcha a couple doors down. I, on the other hand, opted to try Aroma's matcha because I heard they had a pandan matcha latte which I always order wherever I can get it. To our surprise, there was a minimal line at both Izumi and Aroma this Saturday. The cashier at Aroma was polite and service of the drink came out fairly quickly. - Pandan matcha latte: good pandan flavor, decent matcha flavor. I wish there was more matcha to pandan ratio, and overall the drink didn't blow me away as some other premium matcha establishments do. But still a good latte and would want to try some of their other flavors next time!

Overall, the drinks were just okay, nothing particularly distinctive compared to others I've had before.
This place has the best matcha in the evergreen area imo. I really love their pandan matcha & jasmine matcha. I also like their jasmine snowfall drink as well! When you walk in, there's a kiosk for you to order in or you can order at the counter with a worker there! The drinks are served pretty fast even if there is a crowd. There are tables for you to sit and hang around with friends. I'd definitely recommend trying this place if you get the chance (:

Love the unique flavors Aroma offers. Ordering at a kiosk and picking up at the front cashier within just 10 minutes amidst heavy foot traffic. First time around, I went ahead and ordered their pandan matcha. Yum! This masterpiece is served with pandan cold foam and toasted coconut flakes. Ordered it regular sweet, less ice, with oat milk. Very balanced flavor. Loved it. Would definitely try their other flavor offerings. :) read more

Egg Coffee is pretty good -- not overly bitter. It's strong, but not too strong. The mango sticky rice matcha is good too, though the flavor is pretty subtle. I wish the mango sticky rice flavor came through a bit more, since you only really taste hints of the coconut and mango toward the end. read more

One of the better places we have tried in the area. Easy to order online ahead and it did not take too long for the drinks. My wife really liked Matcha, and Grandma really liked ice coffee. Will try again if we're in the area. read more

I've been a long time fan, even before their matcha craze. Whether there's a sprawling line for the matchas or a sprinkle of customers on a quiet weekday, the service here has been consistently top tier since I first started coming in summer 2024! Everyone is super nice, accommodating, and even visibly apologetic on crowder days. The amount of times I've been here is astonishing but it really is that good, to me! In my rotation I either get some variation of matcha, pandan milk tea, bơ dầm, or chè sương sa hạt lựu. The pandan milk tea is my favorite and quality has been pretty consistent. The cream top variations on the matchas are pretty solid here and go well with the drinks. I recommend getting honey as the sweetener to really bring out the matcha and let the cream tops take over the sweetness. Bơ dầm is a great sweet treat and is pretty filling! My only gripe is the limited space and how the line alone eats up so much space but other than that, drinks are pretty solid. read more

Aroma continues to be my go-to spot for Vietnamese desserts/chè! Stopped by on a Saturday around 4:10pm and the shop was packed, with lots of people waiting for their drinks. The interior remains the same. It's bright, clean, and aesthetically pleasing with white marble walls and tables. Seating is limited, but I usually just grab and go anyway. Orders can be taken at the front or via self-kiosk. I normally rave about and always order the Avocado Purple Rice drink, but this time I tried the Taro Purple Rice. It did not disappoint! It was creamy, not overly sweet, and had a great taro flavor. I love their purple rice drinks because of the texture. Every sip feels like you're tasting something new. 5/5 Love this place and highly recommend! read more

Lovely cafe with a great extensive drink menu! I loved the variety of drinks they offered, with something for everyone. As the cafe was quite busy when I got there (a weeknd afternoon), the servers had a speaker outside to call numbers so you didn't have to cram inside. I got a toasted rice matcha with oat milk, which was a good balance of not too sweet, and you could taste the matcha flavor well. My partner got a Hojicha einspanner, which he said was tasty. Overall, we enjoyed our visit! read more
This was my first time there and I tried the new seasonal Mango Sticky Rice matcha, which was really good. I liked how the mango wasn't pulpy and the whole drink was smooth. The employee taking my order was very friendly. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it took less than 10 min to get my drink. Not many places to sit inside. Lots of parking. Would recommend. read more
I'm on the hunt for banana cream matcha latte's and Aroma has been on my list. Woooo, it did not disappoint. Came right at 10 to avoid the crowds and we were the first ones there. We ordered 3 banana cream matcha lattes, less sweet (the way to go), w/oatmilk. Ugh, sooo good. The cream is everything and I love that they take their time with the matcha. Points for presentation too!! My partner also loved the classic coffee! Service was friendly and helpful! The inside is very clean, but no outside tables for you and your furry friend. read more

I like the matcha here! Aroma has sweet matcha drinks and their flavor choice is superior. I've tried their cookie butter matcha, sweet corn matcha, and mango sticky rice matcha, I also saw they had rice matcha and pandan matcha as well on their menu. I enjoyed every drink I had here, they are on the sweeter side so I recommend getting less sweetness. Overall I will come back! read more
We saw a long queue and were excited to try because of what we heard! To start off service was very good despite the long lines when we had a question about drinks. The matcha einspanner was not strong enough (the matcha tasted diluted / bland) and the cream on top was overpowering. The banana matcha cream top was decent but the drink was overly sweet. read more
The place is located in the Paloma plaza and is pretty easy to find. The only issue in this plaza is the parking. Depending on the time and day, finding parking can be difficult. I've been here many times and not once have I been disappointed! They're always coming up with different drinks and they're always delicious! Matcha Series(10/10): I've had the chance to try their matcha series and was not disappointed! Double matcha tasted like a normal matcha latte but with a little extra matcha. It was also creamy. Mango sticky rice was an interesting drink and it was my first time seeing a matcha drink like this. I really like the hint of mango in the cream. Pandan matcha had a hint of pandan flavor in the cream, but the matcha base tasted normal. My favorite from the series would be the Coconut matcha. It's very refreshing and I would recommend getting it normal sweet if you like the sweetness of coconut juice! Service(10/10): The workers are always welcoming and friendly! I like using the kiosk too, but if I want to get/redeem points, I have to go to the register. They make the drinks pretty fast, but for matcha it takes a little longer due to demand I'm assuming. They also provided a sign warning us in advance regarding the wait time for matcha drinks. I don't mind waiting! Overall, I recommend going here! read more
I was in the area and stopped by to grab a matcha. The shop is located in a plaza but parking can be difficult. I was able to order from the tablet and I waited about 10 minutes for the drink. Sadly, I felt that the drinks were super underwhelming. I couldn't really taste the matcha. It tasted more like milk. The strawberry one was a little better but not by much. I would come back to try other drinks but not for the matcha. read more

Come for the Che and coffees, skip the matcha. The two matcha tasted very underwhelming, and the matcha used tasted low quality (gave a bad headache after drinking). For comparison, Izumi uses ceremonial grade matcha and has a better taste. read more

I was excited to see the hype about the matcha at Aroma. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing to see that their coffee was better than the matcha. We came here to on a Saturday at 12 PM and we were able to walk straight up to the kiosk to order. It was pretty busy and the line was consistently going. Our drinks came pretty quickly despite their busyness. 2/5 The banana cream tasted way too artificial for me and it definitely overpowered the matcha ten fold. 5/5 However! The egg coffee that my boyfriend got was seriously amazing. It was creamy, and was very strong Vietnamese coffee. It was addicting and I ended up drinking more of that drink than mine. Maybe I need to try their other matcha flavors but I would come back here for their coffee. read more

There's a lot of spots in San Jose that have matcha but Aroma is my go-to spot time and time again. Every single one of the drinks I've gotten here are high quality and worth every penny. But the banana matcha is hands down my favorite in all of San Jose! Although I mainly go to Aroma for their matcha drinks, you should also check out some of their other items like their Vietnamese dessert drinks. Sometimes there can be a long line to order on the weekends, but it usually moves pretty fast. And be patient when you wait for your drink cause the staff are working really hard to make each drink taste perfectly. Despite how busy they can get, the staff are always welcoming, efficient, and helpful. There's a few tables available for you to sit at but it's a small shop so it can feel claustrophobic when it's busy. I would only suggest sitting and enjoying your drink during non-peak days. Parking in this plaza can be a nightmare during peak hours so sometimes it's best to park a little further away and walk, or you could even park on the street or in the Target plaza next door and walk over. read more

I love this place! I had it for the first time when my friend catered Aroma & had che and halo halo for her wedding. It was so yummy! I mainly go here for their matcha This plaza is always busy so I park across the street and walk over. Aroma has good amount of seating inside and outside. Ordering is quite easy on the kiosk and the wait is kinda long but definitely worth it! I loved their double matcha but they changed the menu. I recommend the cookie butter matcha and the pandan dream matcha. My friend got the corn cloud matcha which had good corn flavor but it was still super sweet even thought she got less sweet. read more

I think i've been to Aroma quite a few times already. service has always been really good but drinks in my opinion don't really live up to my standards. i like how many unique matcha drinks they have but the matcha somehow always tastes a bit grainy. and the drink is too sweet for my liking despite me adjusting my sweetness level. read more

i am not really a matcha enthusiast as i think its very overhyped but occasionally i like trying new drinks. i'd decided to try their guava li hung matcha and it was the very first drink where i finished it all in one sitting. its soo refreshing and the guava cream on top adds good flavor to it! i def recommend coming to try it out read more

If you're looking for a fun café to treat yourself, Aroma in the Silver Creek plaza is a great pick. Though there's not much sitting inside, the space is spacious and people typically order from a kiosk. I find that there are older customers who come here and don't know how to use the machine so I did help a lady out, maybe to always have a cashier in the front would be very ideal. I tried their cookie butter matcha and banana matcha from the matcha series and it was delicious -- the banana flavour came through naturally and the cookie butter was so tasty, I've never tried anything like that before! The matcha was well-balanced, and with my preference of "less sweet / less ice" it hit just right. FYI The only thing is the place might be hard to find since you can't really see the name until you go into the store and the parking in this plaza is horrendous! read more
This is by far one of the best drink dessert shops in San Jose that I have had. My best friends wanted to show me this place and this place did NOT disappoint. I got the chance to talk to one of the owners, Richard. He was such a very caring and enthusiastic person. A lot of other shops feel like they don't add care and love into drinks but on the other hand Richard took great care of us and even recommended/gave us phenomenal drinks. Each drink we ordered tasted FANTASTIC. I really think it beats all the other milk tea/matcha places around where I'm from. I'll definitely stop by Aroma again if I'm craving a sweet treat and am in the San Jose area. A big shoutout to Richard and his Aroma team for taking great care of us. read more

The matcha here is so strong and such good quality! They don't skimp on the matcha powder. I got a pandan matcha with less sweet and less ice and it was so flavorful. I definitely want to try their banana cream matcha in the future. Wait can be a little long on the weekend, I think it was at least 20 minutes after I got in line til I got my order. Not too much seating inside especially when it's busy and crowded. read more

I love Aroma Che's matcha series! I've tried a good variety of Aroma's drinks including their Pandan Coffee, Pandan Milk Tea, Banana Matcha, Mango Sticky Rice Matcha, Cookie Butter Matcha, and Pandan Matcha, which were all great, and drinks I would recommend! Their matcha cream tops are delicious and worth the hype they are praised for, and their matcha itself is decent as well. Their pandan drinks are very fragrant and have a good balanced pandan flavor. The ordering process is on their kiosk and the drinks usually come out in around 10 minutes. The store itself is bright with a few small tables you can sit at. It's definitely more of a grab-n-go kind of cafe in my opinion since seating is limited. Overall, fire spot for matcha and pandan drinks that I love taking my friends to! read more
My GPS always takes me to the wrong place with any of these shops in this plaza. I did end up finding it after making several circles. I got lucky enough that the shop still had not opened. Waited a couple minutes and used the kiosk to order my drink. Wasn't sure what Matcha to get but opted for the banana matcha. Since all the matcha is hand whisked it took a bit to get my drink. Once I got it the flavor of both the matcha and banana was delicious. The banana flavor was not artificial which was a plus in my book. I enjoyed the drink and will come back and have it again. The parking lot in this plaza is always busy so keep that in mind. If you're ordering matcha it's hand whisked so it takes time to get your drink. The shop has several tables to enjoy your drink. It got really busy at opening. Bathroom was locked so I wasn't able to use it. All in all a cool space. Curious to try their other drinks. read more
