This location is actually the most convenient to me since I'm in the shopping center often, but I rarely come to this one. The parking right near the shop is limited and usually taken by the other businesses. It's pretty lucky to find parking right in front, unless it's a very slow day. This time around, I ordered ahead of time to get my drinks/waffle faster. My order included the usual milk tea with sea salt cream and lychee jelly, a chocolate waffle and something for the bf. When I got there, my drinks weren't quite ready, but it wasn't too much of a wait. Service isn't the friendliest, but nothing to complain about. The shop has a good amount of space for people to hang out and chat after getting drinks. It's usually pretty quiet, at least on the handful of times I've been there. 1 star off is for my drink - for some reason, this location has always been a little off with the drink I've ordered. Even though I (usually) order the exact same drink at several locations, this one is always inconsistent with it's sweetness level. Most of the time, it's less sweet than expected while once in a while, it's way too sweet. I'm sure there's a formula for it, but it's never quite the same. Happy Lemon is a boba tea chain that serves waffles and Korean fried chicken. They have a variety of fruit and milk teas with salted cheese and combo options. It's located in a complex with lot parking and has a few tables for small group or individual indoor seating. The waffles were a bit of a wait and they ran out of fried chicken, but the drinks came out relatively quickly and were priced reasonably for the area. The bubble waffles tasted great - they were a good amount of sweet and fluffy. There's not much of a difference between the original waffle and the oreo waffle other than the texture (the oreo one had hard chunks where there was oreo pieces). I wouldn't recommend the puff creams - they were $1 each and didn't taste great (kind of like sour milk). However, the mango boba green tea was refreshing and had the perfect amount of sweet mango flavor. The ratio of boba to drink was good and the mango boba was the right texture - I'd rate it a 9/10. We were glad to have a Happy Lemon down the street from us! We even walked here since it was so close by. So many of their drinks are super refreshing, and they do have hot options, too! I feel like the menu is slowly growing since they now have popcorn chicken. I'm not sure if they have popcorn chicken at all locations, but they have it at this location, and they have multiple flavors, which is really convenient. Service is always great, and workers are super friendly. If you have questions about any of the drinks or toppings, you can always ask! Most of the time we're here, there are only 2-3 people working, so there are times when drinks may take a bit if you're waiting for them. There's also an app where you can order online and earn points! I suggest using the app to order ahead if you don't want to wait. My go-to drinks are the Matcha Latte with Tiramisu Salted Cheese Cold, Milk Tea with Oreo and Tiramisu Salted Cheese, Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream, Okinawa Sugar with Fresh Milk Boba, and the Mango Matcha. All are great! I've even had some as hot drinks and they're great hot too! We've also had the waffles and popcorn chicken and they're really good! It just takes a little longer to make it so you'll have to wait. My favorite waffle flavors are chocolate and Oreo. For the popcorn chicken, I tried the Paprika Spicy and I wasn't a fan. Honestly the most reliable place to get a salted cheese drink. It's so so good every single time and even the next day. Honestly just a perfect blend of sweet and savory. Also tried my friend's Strawberry Shortcake Drink with Lychee. Really really tasty and tasted like a drinkable dessert. Great mix of fruit and creaminess but definitely on the more expensive side (especially since lychee was added). Never saw this drink at other locations so if you come here definitely check it out! Overall, I've only been to this location once and have no complaints! The drinks were super good and service was quick. There are only a few tables but this is more of a grab and go location. Decent Happy Lemon location! Ordered my usual passion fruit green tea with boba. I appreciate the staff that day making the drinks actually mix it before pouring it in to the cup. It is usually 50:50 for staff at most Happy Lemon locations to pour everything into the cup and shake it after it is sealed, but you can definitely taste the difference if it is mixed beforehand. The shop itself is pretty small compared to other Happy Lemons and was unexpectedly crowded when we went on a Sunday around 5PM. I never so much noticed this location in the busy San Jose Marketcenter, but I stopped by recently for the first time and had a relatively pleasant experience. I've noticed every Happy Lemon I visit seems to have a habit of ordering way too many business supplies--so much so that the boxes are out in plain view of customers. Not a bad thing, but not the kind of spot that will win awards for aesthetically pleasing pictures. My general opinion of Happy Lemon boba is that the milk teas are pretty good. Quality control is consistent across locations, and as someone that is a boba traditionalist (not interested in the salty cheese, new school offerings) their basic menu has my approval. This location isn't the biggest store, doesn't have the fanciest marketing posters, but serves good boba at a good pace. I usually like to get the Okinawa milk tea with boba, but this time I got the fresh passion fruit mango green tea with crystal boba. This was my first experience with Happy Lemon so I had no idea what to expect. When I pulled up the lot was full but luckily I was able to find a spot as someone was leaving. Either way it's in a plaza so your bound to find parking just may have to walk a bit, okay product time. The line was coming out of the door which was what I expected after reading some reviews. It was slightly confusing because you couldn't tell if people were waiting for their orders or in line to place an order (signs would be helpful or social distancing markers). I was in line for about 10 mins and there's a menu outside near the door so your not clueless when you get inside. I choose the Oolong Salted Cheese and added Boba. Overall the drink was okay. I'm a big tea fan and didn't get a full oolong flavor and I still have no idea what part was "salted cheese". I'll have to do some digging. It is pretty cool you can modify the ice amount and sweetness so it's def worth a try. I'll go back and try a more popular drink to see what the hype really is about. read more

I have worked at a happy lemon at a different location for two years, and I never seen this happened before. Originally I ordered a strawberry shortcake , and I saw that they brought out 2 unsealed premade frozen strawberry shortcake smoothies that they kept in their freezer and poured it into my new cup. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it wasn't that old and it will be fine. Took a sip and it immediately tasted like water and got a freezer burn. Staff was really nice and quick with the orders. It is a bit difficult to find parking since it is in a plaza and the place is tiny so I recommend taking it to go! Drinks always come out pretty quickly, I was in and out within 5 minutes. I got the most popular drink, Black tea with salted cheese. If you've never had they salted cheese before, it might sound weird, but it works and it's good! It's more of a creamy cheese foam and not salty at all. Just make sure you tilt the cup enough so you're drinking both tea and salted cheese. If you don't, all you'll get is salted cheese foam and that won't be very good. The drinks are on the sweet side, so adjust accordingly if you don't have a sweet tooth. read more

One "unhappy lemon..." Brought my family here to this establishment for some refreshments and light snacks. Sat down inside and consumed our food items and drinks. Upon cleaning up, I looked around for a trash can to dump our trash, but could not locate one inside. I then proceeded to ask the staff where are their trash receptacles so that we could toss our stuff. Staff could not give us an answer so we did our best to round up our trash and left it on the table for staff to clean since there were no trash cans inside the establishment. As we walked towards the exit another unknown Asian male said we needed to take our trash with us. I asked, "where are your trash cans?" to which the employee said, "Bring your trash with you and clean up after yourselves Mind you I made every conscious effort to throw away our trash as you should at most food establishments..... If they had a trash can. ‍ I requested to speak to the manager later named "Brian" who informed me that the store does not have any trash cans available to the customers. He suggested we look for a public trash can outside in the parking lot. I asked Brian where do employees throw their trash away and he said, "We have trash cans for ourselves." I am reporting this to the Santa Clara County Health Department as a health issue. I have never been to any retail food establishments where NO trash cans are available to the customers for them to throw away their trash. Not safe and definitely not clean. read more

I was in the other day and using my QR code for rewards points, and the guy helping me said something that really rubbed me the wrong way, not that he was particularly rude or anything, but nonetheless should not be something staff are put in the position to say to customers. I was placing my order and simultaneously scanning my QR code and he said "just to let you know, depending on who is taking your order they might get really annoyed if you scan your code before your order is entered, because it will freeze the system and they will have to reenter everything." Here's the problem with that: 1) This sounds like a Happy Lemon problem, not a me problem. Management needs to figure out how to avoid this so staff aren't having to educate customers. Most places you can scan your rewards code at any point of the transaction. Put up a sign, hide the scanner and only bring it out after the transaction, do something so customers don't have to feel like they need to go through a talk and adapt their behavior due to your faulty system and lack of forethought to put procedures and measures in place to remedy that faulty system. 2) Clearly there are employees who have short fuses if they get "really annoyed" when this happens and likely give unknowing customers attitude. Educate these employees, or put them in the back where they aren't interfacing with customers, or show them the door. Don't put the onus on good staff to warn customers about the possibility of an encounter with an impatient staff member. No one wants to deal with attitude. *UPDATE* Edward--I don't know how to respond to you, but wanted to emphasize that the issue was not with the employee that helped me. While he was not the bubbliest, he was also not rude either. What you need to figure out is who the bad employees are and retrain them, and also fix the issue with the rewards code QR code scanner. read more

I'm officially addicted to their salted cheese over unsweetened iced tea. All of the signature drinks I have tried have never been disappointing. I think this is the only boba chain that is consistent across all it's South Bay locations. This Happy Lemon is in a great location and parking is usually a breeze. There are a lot of essentials in the same plaza (Banking, Target, Marshalls, Office Depot, PetSmart, etc.) so grab a liquid dessert to aid you while you're running those house errands. Happy Lemon has a pretty diverse menu selection, but the fresh squeezed lemon teas caught my eye because you don't see that often at boba places (or at least I never see them on menus). The drink was pleasantly sour, but you can vividly taste the green tea. It was very very sweet, which I didn't enjoy too much, but the more I drank it the less off putting it became.
