Writing this for others and for future me. I've been here several times for breakfast, and I always forget which breakfast burrito is my favorite. I go back and forth between fully loaded and brisket. With either choice, you can't go wrong. They also have a pretty good lunch menu that comes with a side of tomato bisque, yum. The people who work there are super friendly and patient (I know this because I take forever to order). The ambiance is great. Light music in the background makes it perfect if you want to catch up with friends, read a book, or catch up on emails. I'm recommending this coffee shop because I genuinely want to support local businesses--and the service here is phenomenal. The space is open, spacious, and has a really nice vibe. Now, about that espresso... nothing about the taste or preparation justified the price. One single shot was over $5 with tip. ONE. SHOT. iJAVA is one of those cafe-and-brunch spots that sounds simple on paper but ends up delivering far more than expected. I ordered the chilaquiles ($19.45). The menu prices posted online don't match the in-person menu. For example, the chilaquiles were listed at $17.45 online but $19.45 in-store. Online ordering uses the correct lower price. Nevertheless, the chilaquiles arrived after 15 minutes and they were phenomenal. It's surprisingly difficult to find chilaquiles that get every component right. Usually, the chips are soggy, the beans are forgettable, or the protein feels like an afterthought. Not here! The texture was exactly what I wanted. Chips were softened enough to absorb the sauce but still maintaining some structure and bite. The black beans were cooked perfectly, the jalapeños added a pleasant kick without overwhelming the dish, and the beef chorizo wasn't rationed out. There was a generous amount throughout, and every bite felt balanced. Perfect amount of salt and seasoning. Service was excellent as well. Friendly, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive. Finding parking, however, was another story. After circling the area, we eventually turned onto Auzerais Avenue, found street parking, and walked a few minutes back. Not the end of the world, but definitely something to keep in mind before visiting. Between the parking situation and the menu pricing discrepancy, there are a couple of minor annoyances. But when the food is this good, they're easy to overlook. These were some of the best chilaquiles I've had in San Jose, and that's ultimately what I'll remember. If the rest of the menu is anywhere near this level, I'll gladly be back at iJAVA. read more

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I put the address to IJAVA into my navigation system but definitely wasnt expecting this to be the top 3 best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Upon arrival iJAVA doesn't seem like it would knock your socks off, simple clean decor which I always appreciate. The menu is somewhat limited for breakfast but I love that they serve it all day long. My mom ordered the eggs Benedict and I got the tri-tip breakfast burrito the eggs Bennedict was so yummy and I was amazed by the potato and bacon that came as the side for over $21 though I will say it's on the pricier range. The beef brisket breakfast burrito at $17.95 was very reasonable in my opinion as it included very high quality beef brisket that was so tender. I'm usually not a fan of barbecue sauce, but it works well here! Both portion sizes were great! You will leave full Overall, I was super impressed by this spot and I'm so happy we have a brunch spot that's halal. I would 100% come back. Especially since the service was kind too. We're at a soccer tournament for our kids this weekend and were on the lookout for healthy options we could pick up in between games. My kids weee huge fans of the smoothies and the chicken Asian salad was mouth watering good. We placed a to go order and showed up a little early for pick up. We ordered some breakfast burritos and I was very happy with my Mexicali burrito which was a veggie burrito with eggs , sweet potato , cheese and black beans. My husband got the fully loaded burrito which had eggs, beef, cheese, potatos but it also had greens in it which was kind of weird in a breakfast burrito. It came with a tasty salsa. Oh this cute little place is so yummmmm. I always crave healthy breakfast food and found the perfect Power Bowl they serve here and it's so simple and delicious!!! Such a healthy complete meal and I seriously can't find another restaurant that serves something quick, easy, and guilt free as this. In my opinion the surrounding area does seem just a little too busy and sketchy for my liking but inside, the ambiance is very cozy. You can definitely study, meet, or do work here. We have been coming here for years and it used to be the best breakfast spot in the South Bay. But we have noticed the quality has been going downhill in the last year or so. iJava Café - A Crab Cake Benedict Masterpiece (but skip the "French Toast") I come to iJava regularly and honestly, it's for one dish only: the crab cake Benedict. I've tried this dish at countless breakfast spots across the Bay Area, and iJava serves the best version--if you order it right. My order: Crab cake Benedict On a croissant Spinach on the side Hollandaise sauce on the side Why? Because the spinach is overly cheesy and strong, which overwhelms the delicate crab flavor. The "hollandaise" sauce isn't traditional--it's very thick, almost like a rich flavored spread, not the classic silky version. I skip it entirely and enjoy the crab and croissant on their own. When made this way, the crab cake Benedict is absolute perfection. Flaky croissant, real crab, and no overpowering extras. Now, about the French toast... iJava boldly claims to have the best French toast in the Bay Area. A manager even challenged me to try it, offering it on the house if I didn't like it. Someone who looked like the owner walked by and said, "I love our French toast--it's like bread pudding." That's exactly why I didn't like it. It is bread pudding. There's no cinnamon, no crisp edges, and it's drenched in vanilla syrup and fruit. They even bake their own baguette in-house specifically for this dish, but it's soaked in vanilla milk until soggy. Personally, I think they'd save time and money just using croissant or brioche, add the cinnamon in the custard before soaking. At least those would feel more like actual French toast. read more

I went with their vegan bowl ($12) which contained black beans, tomatoes, sweet potato, corn, and avocado over a bed of greens. Thinking it'd be nice to have a bit more carbs in my bowl, I added a side of potatoes which was a great decision, though the bowl ended up being substantial enough! The bowl was dressed by a chipotle dressing which gave it a bit of a kick. It was a good hearty breakfast at a fair price. Was walking while waiting for my car oil change. I remembered this place from driving by to get in 87. Homey feel, looked like local business folks enjoy this place so I have it a try. Worth the gamble. I asked for a recommendation from the signature lattes. And the pistachio latte was a winner. I didn't need food but they have a great menu selection and people seem to enjoy the food. I may need to meet some friends here sometime. The atmosphere is hip and has great seating for intimate groups. It's near to the children museum. If I were a mom of a youngster, I'd be here with my kid. I didn't see if they have hot chocolate but it seems like I'd find something like that considering how close this is to the museum. Definitely one to bookmark. read more

We stopped here before our flight out of SJC for a bite and some coffee. Staff was super friendly, fast and it was delicious food! This spot gets packed, so I can imagine seating might get tricky on certain days and hours. My flat white was awesome and my husband loved his mocha. Came to this restaurant about an hour before closing on a Thursday. It's a small restaurant in a more industrial side of town, where there appears to be a lot of construction going on. For parking, there's limited parking near the restaurant so we chose to park across the street in a pay to park lot. Service was ok. You order the food at the counter and it's brought to you. I don't recall anyone checking on us too often but I think they did 1x or 2x. It's a pretty basic breakfast menu. I remember ordering the chilaquiles and crepes and my friend ordered some sort of breakfast plate with eggs. The chilaquiles were good, not very flavorful but not bad.
