    Batch cooking

Hash n Dash is a pop up breakfast spot that has been consistently showing up near the housing complex by Panera off Cottle Road. They focus on hearty breakfast sandwiches, and they do them well. The portions are satisfying and hit that comfort food spot without overthinking it. Service is usually quick, though it depends on timing since they batch cook. You might get your food right away, or wait a bit if you hit it between rounds. The guys running it are super friendly, which adds to the whole experience. Prices land around the 12 to 15 dollar range depending on what you order. It is a simple setup, but a solid choice when you want a good breakfast sandwich without much fuss.

I was going to get some coffee after the gym when I noticed their set up. I was like oh snap, that looks good! A line was already starting to form so I did what any smart person would do, I also got in line. They didn't have a ton of options, but when you make something so good, you don't need other things. I really appreciated the add ons so I def got the Jalapeños that added the needed kick. The breakfast sandwich came up much much bigger than I anticipated which made me feel like it is worth the price, plus I'm always happy to support the community.

They were in front of Chromatic coffee today and couldn't not stop to try after smelling the amazing food being made. They only had the sausage breakfast sandwich available so that's what my friend and I got. Bursting with flavor and so good! There isn't a lot of space to sit outside so we took it home. I'm glad though because eating this was not graceful at all. When they offer extra napkins, take them! This is one of the messiest breakfast sandwiches I've eaten, but every bit worth it.

Hash N Dash had a pop-up at Cosentino Family Farm. I met some friends there, and we decided to try the 408 Smash breakfast sandwich. I'm conflicted about how to describe the service because it is a pop-up, so service for the walk up and order doesn't really apply. I get that it's not a glam job, but the person who took my order seemed apathetic/bored. Not rude, but definitely not friendly, no "hi" or "how can I help you", more "what do you want". The actual 408 Smash breakfast sandwich - English muffin, sausage patty, ground pork patty, caramelized onions, a fried egg, Tapatio mayonnaise, maple syrup, and American cheese on an English muffin was tasty with a delicious runny egg, but a bit pricey for a $12 sandwich that was served on a store bought Thomason's english muffin. Not sure if I'd make a specific trip for this sandwich, but I'd probably buy again if in the neighborhood.

Solid breakfast sandwich bursting with flavor. Been following them on IG for quite some time and was dying to check them out, finally made it while they were at Chromatic Coffee over a weekend. Service was friendly, they gave us the rundown - one breakfast sandwich, but you could make it a double or add jalapenos. We opted for the single and my boyfriend got the jalapenos while I kept it OG. As someone who eats a pretty big breakfast usually, a single wasn't enough, I would definitely add an egg or make it a double next time. The sandwich was great though, loved how thin the patty was and the maple syrup added the perfect hint of sweetness to contrast with the chipotle aioli. They do occasionally have specials on Sundays, seems like a lot of the time it's pork belly, so will definitely keep an eye out for one that sounds fun and try them again!

**3.5 STARS Hash N Dash, a viral San Jose breakfast pop-up, offers smash burger-style breakfast sandwiches that are essentially an elevated version of McDonald's Egg McMuffin. These are smoky, juicy, and creamy with a hint of sweetness from the maple syrup that's drizzled on top. The downside is the relatively high price for a sandwich that is on the smaller side. Check out their IG profile to learn more about where you can find them. ORDER: 408 Smash ($12.25) - pork sausage smashed with onions, egg, cheese, Tapatio aioli, and maple syrup on a toasted English muffin Follow @xstina.eats for more food finds.

This is a breakfast sandwich and it's simple, yet delicious. I feel like some are expecting some mind blowing experience, but how different are you going to get with a breakfast sandwich? Don't get me wrong, this sandwich was delicious and the food was fresh. It was definitely a 5/5 for me, but I think some lower reviews are because people may be expecting the impossible with a breakfast sandwich. Just my take. They were at Academic Coffee and when I arrived there wasn't a line. They were super easy to find by just checking out their IG page. The guy who took my order was friendly and their cooking station was clean. A positive start to my experience. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes and I decided to take our two sandwiches and go because the line for coffee was long and not moving very quickly. I'm glad I did, so we could enjoy them while they were still piping hot and fresh. The English muffins were lightly toasted, so there was a nice crispy edge and a softer middle. The mayo had a slight kick to it and it was a good amount, not too much or too little. There was a small amount of caramelized onions that added just a touch of sweetness to the sandwich. This balanced well with the savory flavors. The sausage patty was large and thin, so they were able to get the edges crispy, which I liked. The egg was perfectly cooked, with the yolk just slightly soft in the middle, but not runny. And of course, I had to order extra cheese, which they delivered on. I left a 25% tip and ordered two sandwiches with extra cheese. My total was $30.63. If I am receiving fresh ingredients and the food is made well, I don't have a problem with spending a little more. So, personally the price point works for me. It was really good and filling. These are hearty sandwiches, with fresh, tasty ingredients that make a great comfort meal. I really think they are worth checking out.

Experience (3/5 stars): *Food: only serves one item in the morning aka smash breakfast sandwich. The syrup and orange sauce made it too sweet. Ketchup or some sort of spicy sauce would've helped balance everything. *Price: ~$13 Overall, I was a little disappointed in this place and probs wouldn't back.

Burnt.. Breakfast Sandwiches with Sausage Patties

We have had Hash n Dash on our list for a looong time but of course, due to their popularity, they always sell out by the time we get there! It's been a long year of waiting and unfortunately, the breakfast sandwiches were a little disappointing. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwiches with Sausage Patties- the flavors were good and I can tell that they can be better if cooked with more care.. The buns were completely burnt versus nicely charred, the eggs were not cooked over easy as we requested and were overcooked, the grilled onions that we salvaged were delicious, but again, mostly burnt.. We really enjoyed the location of this pop up- there is a lot of space next to the community garden! The best on a sunny morning/early afternoon! There wasn't a line when we were there but the service staff were in a hurry, maybe just over the day. Overall, 3.5. Maybe we should go super early for a better experience.

    Dry dry breakfast sandwich :(

5th time going - overall... going downhill :( 1st time was awesome - breakfast sandwich was amazing!! 2nd time - posted they would be downtown so we went and they didn't show 3rd time - tried the Loco Moco .... Was also amazing, great mushroom gravy and patty & rice were cooked perfectly 4th time - staff seemed annoyed to be working .... Was a little put off ... food was still good .. but starting to have doubts 5th time - again with the annoyed staff & BIG surprise ... the breakfast sandwich was NOT as good as before. The sausage patty was burnt, the egg was overcooked, and it barely had sauce! Such a disappointment! Will I go back? Not sure... maybe their growth and hype to open a brick and mortar is making them lose focus... but when quality and service aren't on par... I'll keep my $$$ for somewhere else!

    Breakfast sandwich with jalapenos
    Joe Z.

Found these guys close to a year ago. Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Something super simple, but super delicious. The syrup drizzle makes the perfect topping. If they have jalapenos, but try those. They're always fresh and have the perfect kick. They do various coffee spots in San Jose and Campbell, but I don't mind the 20 minute drive for this sandwich. The staff working are super chill as well and now they sell shirts, hoodies and pullovers. Support your local small businesses!!!

the BEST breakfast sandwiches!! we stopped by when they were out in front of academic coffee next to valley fair on a sunday and there was no line. i was also able to pay with apple pay. i got single and it was around $13. it was sooo delicious and full of flavor. the sandwiches have a slight amount of kick to them which balances out all the different flavors. it was super hearty and filling, even for just the single. i'd definitely be back!

    Smashed Breakfast Sando w/ Jalapeños
    Steven C.

Food: Breakfast smash burger style with a smashed pork patty, sliced onions in the patty, thick breakfast style egg that's runny, cheese on top, their own special sauce, jalapeños on side (my request), and Thomas brand English Muffins. Solid 3 stars because of the English Muffin and price (overpriced) of the overall smashed breakfast sandwich. I was expecting a freshly made English Muffin since everything else was made fresh. Ambiance: Straight to the point customer service. Almost felt like I was bugging them and needed to leave while I was placing my order. It was only me when I ordered with no line. Parking: They do pop-ups at various locations that have parking. You'll have to follow them on social media to find out where they will be next.

Pretty solid breakfast sandwhich. Sausage patty was good, a little mushy. And a little overpriced at 12$. But yeah, it was good.

We ordered the banh mi, the curry noodle soup, the socola cookie and a vietnamese coffee to go. The coffee hit the spot for me, the perfect strength and sweetness. I feel like it's harder to find this good of balance these days. As I'm not a big fan of fudge type cookies, I didn't like the socola so much, but my partner did. The curry noodle soup was tasty, reminded me of a Cambodian or Burmese style coconut curry soup, and the chicken was very tender. The banh mi for me, while I understood what they were going for, did not hit for me as much. There was shredded chicken mixed with pickled peppers and I believe shallots. The bread was nice and toasty and crunchy, but the filling felt a little dry. Overall, the dishes were on the pricier side, but you could tell the ingredients were fresh and also how much love and care went into the dishes. On top of that, I appreciated that most of the containers they used were compostable. The owners were really nice and extremely friendly, and besides the road side seating, there were also a few concrete benches nearby as well. With the cool weather, it would have been a perfect day to eat outside and enjoy some sunshine.
