Freshly Baked Eatery is mine and my friends' go-to lunch spot! The sandwiches are super fresh and the sourdough bread is exceptional. I believe the bread is made in-house and explains why it's so amazing. The sandwiches are HUGE and can sometimes be split into 2 smaller meals. Many of us eat half and save the other half for later. All their deli meats are great but my favorite is probably the Garlic Herb Turkey. This place is cash only which can be an inconvenience but on the bright side, they do have an ATM machine inside if you arrive and realize you don't have cash. Service is super fast and friendly. I've seen the line run outside the door on some days especially during the lunch rush so plan accordingly!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good vibes and even better sandwiches![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The customer service is out of this work. The staff and everyone associated with Freshly Baked Eatery are genuinely kind. We came right before closing so chairs and tables were being put away but we were still welcomed inside for a take out order. I had the Cajun turkey sandwich before from a friend and I've been searching for this spot ever since. I'm so glad I remembered the location a Tony was able to tell me the name of the sandwich based off my description alone. Everything is fresh and delicious. Best sandwiches in San Jose! My husband and daughter are now fans as well.

Super fast service and fresh bread makes this my new local sandwich spot! The bread was lightly crunchy and not too heavy. I got the prosciutto and provolone and it was big and filled with prosciutto. I liked the chopped up lettuce inside.

I've had this place bookmarked to go to for over 4 years, and it looks like business has been thriving all this time. I arrived a little after 1 pm on Wednesday and employees are super efficient, I got my roast beef sandwich minutes after I ordered it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have seating inside, but most people sat at the tables outside to enjoy their sandwiches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Each sandwich comes with swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, dijon mustard, and pickles on the side. They come pre-cut in half and are super filling; it was easily two meals for me. The vegetables are super fresh and crisp. The sourdough bread complements the sandwich so well and is genuinely just good sourdough bread. This is a top notch deli sandwich place, miles above Jersey Mike's, Ike's, and Corner Bakery Cafe. I'm so excited to add this local spot to my lunch rotation. Cash only (they have an ATM inside) and all sandwiches are priced at $15.

Their bread is spectacular and has been since I've been going here in the last 5-6 years. It's just street parking for the most part so if it's lunch time and busy, you might be hard pressed to find a spot but it's worth it. The line can get long but it moves really quickly and note that it's cash only. They have an ATM inside if you need to use it before you order your sandwich. I've had a bunch of different sandwiches and they've all been delicious. Honestly, anything that you get between their bread is going to be good. It's warm, crusty on the outside but soft enough to bite through without the roof of your mouth getting tore up. The people working there are super friendly and it's just a great spot to grab lunch.

Fresh sourdough bread deli sandwiches, set price, comes with a pickle, cash only. This place is modeled exactly the same as California Sourdough on Murphy Ave/Oakland Rd. I'd be surprised if these 2 places weren't related. I got the #14 Pastrami and Turkey with everything. Excellent sandwich and very substantial amount of food. I will say the bread was not as fresh as when I had it at California sourdough. I also felt like the sandwich construction here was not up to par. Still really good though! I'll definitely go here if it's convenient.

    The owners are super friendly!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a wonderful spot for lunch![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the German Salami (ask about it if you don't see it on the menu) and it was incredible. As an added bonus, their chip and drink selection is very good too. The prices are very competitive and they keep them low by reducing non-necessary costs like credit card fees. Payment is cash only. I will be definitely be back when I'm in San Jose.

Although there are many sandwich spots in San Jose - there is something that sets this place apart, and (unironically) it's the bread. The meat is fine (it's just Boar's Head, which is solid but not revolutionary) and that brings this review down a star, but the bread is where the sandwiches shine. The rye on the pastrami bread was perfectly sweet and soft, unlike other spots in San Jose. I'd go there just for the bread if I could. Beware this establishment is cash only (though there is an ATM on the premises)!

CASH ONLY w/ ATM inside*** The sourdough bread was delicious, wish meat portions were a tad bit more. Overall, good sandwich and efficient staff; didn't wait long at all for sandwich. Note: Park off street parking and walk to the deli since parking on the streets is limited.

When did they open their doors? What year was it?

Do they take phone orders for to-go?

Yes! But when they are very busy, they are unable to answer the phone. Best to call before noon.

Did the crust change? Looks different and taste different

    Same as I've tasted

Is this sandwich shop also owned by CA Sourdough on Oakland rd? I've gotten great sandwiches from both places and the sandwiches seem very similar.

No, but it's like their family members place. Like their brother-in-law owns CA Sourdough or something (I asked once, but already forgot 😝)

    Do they have GF bread?

No only sourdough rolls and marble rye.

I ordered Doordash pick up because I was ordered on a Thursday for lunch and didn't know what the line would look like. So I walked right in and gave my name and was handed my bag-o-goodies. They have shelves of dry goods to purchase. Refrigerated items to purchase. Their deli counter is towards the back and wraps around the front. I ordered: 1. 2 meatballs: hearty and delicious. 2. Beef raviolis: small but packed with meat and in their meat sauce. Flavorfull! 3. Arancini: I've never tried one. It's a rice ball filled with veggies, cheese and ground meat. Then rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Then served with their sauce. Holy Moly!!! Why have I never had this heavenly piece of Italy?!?!?! Seasoned well and fried well. It's a meal in it of itself! 4. Garlic bread: hot, buttery, garlicky toasted goodness! The only thing I finished was the arancini. I took a bite of each of the rest just so I could write this review and will save for my sons for when I get home because it's all too good not to be shared. Will be back!

I went with the chicken schnitzel as a plate because I was interested in the various salads. I chose rice instead of fries, and they gave me a ton of rice! Everything was made to order. The schnitzel was pounded flat and delicious. I liked a lot of the side salads, including one that was red cabbage-based. I bought something similar at the market - hoping it tastes as good. This place is not fancy on the inside, with long group tables, but there were a lot of people coming in either eating lunch there or grabbing it to go. I enjoyed what I ate and will want to come back and try something else next time (hopefully the kabobs).

Price is pretty steep for something like this. The owner or person taking our order seemed like a confident or very straight forward / strong type personality, which I'm fine with because I naturally have a bit of a strong personality as well so it didn't bother me, although it would've been better if he smiled or something so it doesn't seem like he's coming off like a New Yorker. Just sayin. But I also know that he's simply doing his job so it's nothing personal. Anyhow, the food he talked a good game on it being the best in the Bay Area turned out to be quite mid IMPO. The shrimp was 100% overcooked, the side Mac salad was actually *not* good at all and it sucks because that's something I feel like you can't mess up but it was gross unfortunately, I spat it out even tho I hate wasting food. It just didn't taste freshly made whatsoever. The poke bowl wasn't comparable to Hawaii since he mentioned it's just as good... but honestly I think everyone's taste buds are different because to me, the poke bowl was totally mid, but it could taste really good to someone else and that's certainly OK! Also -- I like salty things esp when I crave for it but this was quite heavy on the salt, which made my experience the way it was. Even though it could've been better, I came with no expectations and just wanted to see what the fuss was about. That said, the only thing that was good was the rice cracker snack we bought and that's it. Glad I still gave this place a try, but personally for me, it's definitely my last visit. Maybe I'll come back at an earlier time to get one of their strawberry mochi but other than that, I think I'll rest my case here.
