If you're a real coffee drinker this may not be the place for you. However if you're looking for a cute place to chat and some good food this might be your place!
In a town with many matcha options I chose to come to Con Azucar because their specialty drink options caught my attention. I absolutely love Horchata and I love Matcha as well so when I saw that they had a combined option called the Horchata Matcha I was absolutely thrilled. The taste did not disappoint. I tried both the hot and cold version and had no complaints on either. Creamy, cinnamon, smooth and reasonably priced. The cafe is decorated very cute. Vibrant colors and a cute grass wall for the perfect selfies of either yourself or your drinks. Staff was nice and the store holds a corner location so it's easy to find.
The service here is always good, the drinks are delicious and so is the food and bakery items! My family and I have tried the conchas, cookies, and tortas here and they were all delicious! My favorite drink is probably the mazapan latte! The vibes are cute too, love the decor!
Usually when items are sized up, they lose flavor, moisture, something.To my surprise, the Big Concha taste exactly as the average one, in fact, maybe a little more flavorful! The service was very quick. The workers looked like they were on a mission to deliver great customer service. I wouldn't recommend the Big Concha if you're alone (unless you burn an extra 5,000 calories a day), but it's definitely worth getting if to share at the office or with friends!
I came here with my family as a quick coffee stop before leaving to San Diego. I was so amazed by this spot! The vibes inside are amazing and incredibly done. There's a swing for pictures with a slower back drop and roses on the ceiling. It was so pretty inside. The menu is pretty big, it was a little intense for our first time. They had a lot of cool options, even one where you can get a character printed in foam on your latte! All the pan dulce looked amazing too. Personally, I ended up getting the Duvalin latte and a cute bag of mini pan dulce. My coffee was so yummy! It tasted like strawberry milk was in my coffee, but in a good way. The bag of pan dulce was so cute! It had piggies, mini concha's, and the sugar croissant breads inside. All were very delicious and well made. My daughter got the pineapple fresca, which I tasted. It was the best pineapple Fresca I have had in a long time. I was very impressed! The rest of my family was very happy with their drinks too. Not only was the staff super friendly here, but the customers were too! A regular customer there saw me and my family contemplating with the menu and gave us drink advice. Everything about the experience was just great! Whenever I happen to return to this area of Cali I will have this spot in the top of my list to return to.
This is such a cute coffee shop! As a lover of Mexican coffee, I come pretty often. My favorite is the horchata iced latte, but their cafe de olla is good too. I ordered the torta de jamón and was satisfied with it. The service was good and efficient, despite how busy they were!
Had seen this coffee shop on IG and since I was passing by I decided to stop by! Love the ambiance, it's a modern day Hispanic coffee shop in downtown San Jose. Coffee would be as typical as any other coffee shop, I think the draw to this coffee shop is the nostalgia and nice decorations. Pass by check it out for yourself! You be the judge. Overall had a good experience.
My mom has been wanting to try this place for awhile. We were in town and decided to check it out. I do not know how this place has so many people after our experience here. We walked in ordered at the tablet they have for self ordering. They were out of the giant concha which was a bummer. We got three mini pan dulces. They were fine and small in size than regular pan dulce. We ordered the mini rosca and then later told they were out prob due to them losing our order. They do have a variety bag with different ones you can take to go. We waited waited and waited I walked over to the coffee barista and asked her if our order was coming up as multiple people had come and gone. They said no we don't have an order for you so I asked if she could ask. They said the order had not printed so once they found it they told us it would be made. Waited and waited some more. I finally was just going to ask for a refund after an hour or waiting for two coffees and a small hot chocolate. The seasonal toasted marshmallow drink was good and my churro latte was good. The abuelita hot chocolate was hot water. No flavor or chocolate in sight. We would have said something but seeing how the process was going we just called it a loss. It's a small place with a couple tables so seating is limited. They have some seats outside also. Also a small section with merchandise with cute mugs and bowls for sale. Overall not a great experience with the customer service and experience. I am so understanding of mistakes but if you say you are going to make it right and get out order done since it was your error , do that but instead we waited more and had to walk up and tell her our order as it was made incomplete.

Beautiful aesthetics and such a great vibe place, staff could be a little more customer service but it's a Tuesday early morning and maybe just a little getting ready for the day. Delicious variety and beautiful display, warm and delicious conchas that you can tell that our freshly made. Will definitely be coming back enjoyed that I was not rushed to leave.
What a cute little place! Great for a photo op or just for a little coffee date between you and a friend. They have great pastries and coffee. There wasn't much of the line where we went, but the lady said that they're usually is but we went on a weekday. Definitely wanna try to get a vibe in a line. We're gonna come back to this place. We wanna have some nice coffee and sweet bite.
Love this spot in DTSJ! Parking is all street parking but it's pretty doable to find around the block. The decor on the inside is really cute as well. I love the horchata and Mazapan lattes! And the presentation of the drinks is really cute, with the rims of the drinks being lined with chocolate almonds for the Mazapan and cinnamon sugar for the Horchata! Recommend coming here for a sweet treat
I'm giving this place two stars: one for the food and one for some of the staff. When we arrived, the staff wasn't very welcoming. After waiting a few minutes to order, we were told to use the kiosk because the register wasn't working, which was totally fine. However, immediately after we placed our order at the kiosk, the staff proceeded to take the order of the customers behind us at the register. We assumed it was a coincidence and didn't think much of it at the time. The food itself was great. The presentation was decent, and everything was flavorful. My fiancé and his dad shared a super large concha, and I had a torta--both were delicious. We also shared a large coffee, which tasted great, but it was too big for us to finish. Since we aren't wasteful, we shared some with our table neighbors and planned to take the rest to go. This is where our experience went from okay to disappointing. My fiancé went to ask for to-go cups so we could take the remaining coffee. One of the staff members responded rudely, saying they could "only give us a few cups." My fiancé said that was fine since we were already sharing with our neighbors. However, we weren't given enough lids, so he went back to ask for lids, not more cups. The worker snapped back, saying she had already given us enough cups and couldn't give us more--again, he wasn't asking for cups. Because of how rude she was, my fiancé didn't want to approach her again. When we needed trays, his dad asked instead, and she was rude to him as well, insisting she had already given us enough cups--when he was clearly asking for trays. It felt like she wasn't listening at all and was just making assumptions. As we were leaving, I also saw this same worker pointing at us while talking to her coworker and referring to us as "them," which was very unprofessional. If there is a policy about not providing to-go containers, that's completely understandable--but it should be communicated politely. I work in the service industry myself, and the way this situation was handled was rude and disrespectful. Because of this experience, I will not be returning or recommending this place to others, even though the food itself was good.

Ordered delivery through a third party app: avocado toast, vanilla latte, Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant. While I can't speak to most of the customer service experience, the order was packaged nicely and securely. The Avocado Toast was the star of the show for me. Probably one of the best avocado toasts I've ever had flavor-wise. While I do also appreciate a lightly salted plain avocado flavor, the cilantro + lime + chili was the kinda vibe I knew I needed (but had never experienced) in an avocado toast. The bread was thick + toasted + soft. Tasted better than I expected after reading the menu description. Pretty filling for $8.50, current economy considered ); Vanilla latte & Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant were also solid. I got an extra shot in the latte and found it to be adequately strong. The croissant sandwich was pretty good with what appeared to be real egg. My satisfaction for the value of the experience may also be skewed by the fact that I got a 40% off for $10+ deal for this meal. It's still hard for me to wrap my mind around how expensive everything has gotten. So, my 5 stars is only representative for the taste and presentation here, less so the value, ambiance, or customer service. I'd come back. read more

Thank goodness I have a voice! The croissant, egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich looked amazing on the menu--and it's very reasonably priced at $6.50. I ain't gonna lie; I'm all about customer service, good food, and value! When ordering, I was told they were out--of what I understood to be the bread--so I asked, "What other bread options do you have?" The cashier rambled off some options, including "white bread." Internal dialogue: "White bread? I didn't know that was still a thing." Turns out, next to the Texas toast, it was the lowest-carb option, so I opted for it. She rang me up at $14.50... $14.50!!! I said, "I don't understand--why is it more than double the price?" To my complete chagrin, she replied, "I have to charge you for a BLT. Would you like lettuce and tomato on your sandwich?" Mind you, they also offer a cheese melt for $6 that comes with the infamous "white bread" and melted cheese. All they would have to do is add the egg and bacon! At least, that's what makes sense to me. I said, "I'm sorry... I do not want a BLT. I just want what I ordered, and I'm okay with white bread as a substitute for the croissant." She insisted, "We can't do that." WHAT??!! I said, "Charge me for the melt, and I'll pay extra for the egg and bacon. How's that?" She said, "Sorry, we can't do that." Internal dialogue: "But they can charge me for a BLT and make substitutions..." It made absolutely no sense! She ultimately conceded--charged me for what I requested--and gave me this bland-looking thing that was barely warmed up, much less toasted! I went out of my way to support "my community" and introduce a colleague to this place. I was so embarrassed--for them and for us! Never again! To boot: I added an almond milk latte, which took way too long to come out. When I went to check on it, the barista looked at me confused. Just then, another customer ran up and said, "Oops! I grabbed your drink by accident--but I didn't drink from it yet." The top hadn't been opened, from what I could see. I surrendered, moped back to my mediocre white-bread sammy, and tried to enjoy the moment. I actually enjoyed the latte... I was about two-thirds of the way through it when I noticed the receipt said OAT MILK--instead of almond... Ayyy, mi gente! Jamás! read more
Went for a quick lunch. Parking is along the street (downtown vibes) so you may have to walk a bit. The workers are very kind! They explained the menu well. BANANA MATCHA LATTE: strong banana flavor, pretty sweet. MAZAPAN LATTE: yummy toasty mazapan flavor with some crumbled bits in there to add texture GRILLED CHEESE: very cheesy with a nice crunch from toasted bread. good depth of flavor from the multiple types of cheeses. cutely decorated as well. was a tiny bit greasy TORTA DE JAMON: thick amount of meat and loaded with saucy flavors. delicious! a real hole in the wall. downtown sj has some fo the best cafes ever. came here after a 2024 christmas 8am morning race. matcha was warm, ceremonial, frothy, perfectly sweet to me was 25%. forgot to ask for almond milk and the server kindly redid my drink for me. never gone to a mexican cafe before and the female server was super descriptive on mexican pastries, drinks, foods, meal pairings. i got concha's cookies HOW CUTE, not overly sweet , like a mini brioche :) my friend LOVED HER SANDWHICH. toasted evenly with soft center, stuffed with protein to the brim and fresh lettuce. everything fresh and made to order. read more

This is my new favorite spot. It's clean, and chill, the staff is friendly, helpful, and fast, and they load up on matcha (the Matcha Horchata is so green and so good). I ordered the Club Sandwich and it was a TRIPLE DECKER?? Absolutely incredible. It's a little pricey but well worth the cost. read more

The last time I came here, I ordered a cappuccino, and it was well made. This time, I was in the mood to try something else: I ordered a Horchata and a Mocha Mexicano Latte. The Horchata Latte tasted good, and it was well-made. The service was fast and responsive. And the ambiance reflects the intention that the owners have for the place. read more

Long over due review. Placed an online order for a rosca de reyes that they said was limited quantities last year on the platform they advertised-Toast. Got a receipt that transaction went through, but no confirmation from Con Azucar cafe. I live an hour+ away from here and didn't want to show up if they wouldn't have a rosca. This place has no direct phone #. I reached out by Instagram with no reassurance that rosca would be provided. Day came and went with no rosca and still to this day no refund!!! Even with multiple attempts to contact them. Thanks for keeping my hard earned money Con Azucar! read more
Shared the giant concha and giant cafe de olla with friends and I was expecting the concha to just be okay but I was surprised that the texture was soft and translated well. I also got a few of the regular sized conchas to go. Funny enough these tasted drier than the giant concha. So I ended up preferring the giant version in terms of taste and texture Service was okay but it was pretty empty when we ordered as we were between crowds. I did notice that they didn't call our name for the single pineapple drink we got but luckily we double checked. A decent amount of seating in the restaurant but I can see it filling up quickly on a busy day/busier time. read more

Went in today for the Bad Bunny drink mostly for the photo on the latte since it's been so hyped all over social media. Plus it was Bad Bunny day, so what better way to start the morning... or so I thought. We walked in and weren't greeted. There were two people working, one making drinks and one making food and the vibe just felt kind of cold and uninviting from the start. I originally ordered a regular iced coffee, but when my friend ordered the Benito cold brew, I asked if I could switch because I really wanted the Benito photo on my drink too. I said this out loud and the lady heard me. They changed it and charged us, no problem. When I changed my drink specifically for this photo wouldn't you think this would be the time to say they aren't doing it or they can't do it? Nope nothing! We waited a while, finally got our drinks... and no Benito in sight. Just a plain coffee. Okay fine, maybe it'll at least taste good, right? Nope. It was super watered down and honestly gross it did not taste like banana and it left a really nasty metallic taste in our mouth. We didn't even bother asking for a remake because the whole vibe already felt off, and I had specifically said I switched drinks for the photo. It just felt pointless. Yeah, first-world problems, I know... but if you're going to advertise something, at least follow through or say it's unavailable when it's ordered. We ended up driving out of our way to the Silver Creek location and totally different experience. Friendly service, amazing drinks, and they happily put the photo on any drink with white foam (which is what we wanted all along). Basically spent $30 on drinks we tossed, then spent more money at the second spot but honestly driving to the silver creek location was totally worth it. Save yourself the disappointment take the extra drive for better service and better drinks. read more

A cold Saturday morning , we just took down our Christmas in the park tree decorations, we chose this place to have a nice coffee , we walk in to a warm cozy environment , The swing at the entrance with the flower wall makes you want to snap a selfie, the bright colorful menu with all the delicious treats and coffees makes you want one of everything, the recommended Club sandwich welllll it was so amazing we forgot to take a pic but there was crumbs left merely crumbs , The staff was amazing with such warmth they service was superb, The kids had the Horchata frapp and I had the Cafe de olla , 10 outta 10 you will see us again read more

This place is so cute and the caprese toast was beautiful and delicious. Giving them 5 stars because the ambiance is amazing, menu is spectacular, and food/drink was delicious. One recommendation would be to add another person that can help with drinks. Ours took 20 minutes today. I wasn't in a rush, but my husband had to go to work and couldn't finish. Still 5 stars because it is really cute here and great experience overall! read more

One of the best cafes in downtown!! Con Azucar not only has the gigantic cups of coffee and the delicious huge conchas, but you can get everything normal sized as well. I got the mazapan speciality latte and it came with a rim of dulce de leche and mazapan, and I also got a concha to go with it. The latte wasn't too sweet and the concha was perfect for dipping. The perfect breakfast! The vibes here are also very fun and they have a couple of photo opps in the cafe as well! read more

If you're looking for a cute and IG girly photo-op café in downtown San Jose, Con Azucar Cafe is a must-visit! The decor is adorable, with vibrant colored flowers, charming accents, and even a swing that makes for the perfect Instagram selfie. Seriously, I couldn't resist snapping a few pics of myself on the swing (sorry, I didn't upload it here lol)! We decided to check it out on a Sunday afternoon after hearing rave reviews about their HUGE Conchas and, more importantly for my sister, the HUGE cup of Abuelita Hot Chocolate--which is a whopping $50! When it arrived, we were amazed to see it served in a massive café mug that could practically TRIPLE as a soup bowl. It was rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet, pairing perfectly with the delicious Concha slices we ordered. Since we were taking the Concha home for our parents, we couldn't resist sneaking a little taste of it before handing it over. Honestly, it was hard to share! A downside was that the tables had not been cleaned properly, still bearing remnants of previous customers' trash and food mess, which we ended up tidying up ourselves. Service was overall good as they were friendly. Con Azucar Cafe is a decent spot if you're in the mood for larger-than-life drink portions and a cute atmosphere. Whether you're grabbing avocado toast, sandwiches, or pastries, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings. read more

We have seen this on Instagram and have sent the stories back and forth. My daughter wanted to go here for the gigante coffee and concha! It is about a 15 minute walk from SAP to Con Azucar and decided to go for it. We walked right up to the counter, took a double take at the giant concha and realized the cute little bunny shaped one will do. We settled for the gigante coffee (made with leche and sugar). After getting the giant coffee, giggling at the size of the bowl and taking photos with it, we scooped it out and drank away. I'm not used to sugar in my coffee but it was good! I think it could feed 6-8 people comfortably. For us, we were determined to drink it, so it was equivalent to having 3 cups of coffee. The concha was truly memorable and one of the best I've had. The texture is soft and fresh, not dry. There was a family vibe to this place. We had a good time. The giant concha and coffee are great conversation starters with everyone next to us. The price was a little steep ($40) but worth the experience. read more

Ahhh, so much love for this place! I'll start by saying it's conveniently placed on a corner in downtown SJ with tons of street parking surrounding. When you enter the, the ambiance is vibrant and welcoming. So now down to the food and drinks. The drinks are phenomenal and pretty authentic too when it comes to their cafe de olla and horchata latte (favorite). The pan dulce is always yummy and I had a friend try their torta and had great things to say. The workers move quick to get all their orders out in a timely manner, but it does get pretty busy here so try and come during an off time! read more

We were not happy with the Mexican bread and the coffee. The coffee tasted horrible. It seems like a lot of people enjoy the cold brew they offer, but it wasn't for us. I wouldn't recommend this place it's not worth it, especially considering how expensive it is. read more
Came here tonight for a Galentines date with my besties for the first time. I ordered their "Be Mine Mocha" (special for Valentines with a cuernito. Both were super delicious! The cuernito was super soft but flakey & sugary. It was perfect. Usually some cuernito is bland but this had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. The mocha, at first I thought it was going to be super sweet because of the color & sprinkles, bit it had the perfect coffee/sweet ratio! The place is a little small, so you gotta scout out for seats, decor is nice though, a lot of places to take pictures. The girl at the register was also friendly, I told her it was my first time & she welcomed me & recommended me the drink. Overall this is a cute little spot! Any Price for the BIG concha and giant coffee?
I went right after Thanksgiving and large coffee was $50. Concha's had two prices: large long one was $50, smaller round one was slightly cheaper.
Can I make a reservation?
You cannot. Also, dining tables are first come first served. Very limited.
What is the best time to go without a long wait?
Middle of the week 1st thing in the morning.
Are the big concha's made to order and if so what's the time wait?
They are available daily as first come first serve.

Yes you can !! It's not just advertising
Does the pan have egg in it? Are there any vegan options?
I'm not sure; but you can request a vegan option.
How do you get the artwork done on your hot drinks?
You have to have the image on your phone. When you hand your phone to the barista make sure that your photo is ready. You pay a small fee to have it on your drink. Super fast and easy.
Can you order online?
Not yet but Con Azucar announced that they will be on DoorDash soon.

They are not lactose free (I'm lactose intolerant).... They are also not dairy free (from a friend with a milk allergy)... Finally, their drinks pretty much all contain caffeine or coffee base, including the horchata. They changed the menu recently…
Do they have gluten free baked goods?
Unsure if there are any gluten free baked goods... As far as I know, the concha and sandwiches aren't gluten free. Assume it isn't gluten free unless specially indicated.
Do they have lactose free or non dairy milks?
Yes they do! I believe they have soy & oat milk
