Low key area. I had to park my bike down a few doors and walk over here since there were no metal poles nearby. Parking lot is huge, but it's a bit ghetto at times, especially next to a liquor store and there's a small recycling center on the lot with apartments down the street. Watch your belongings in public. Affordable and good. I had a tuna croissant sandwich and a Thai iced tea. Both were satisfying and not expensive at all. There were beautiful wall art pieces inside with only a few tables and chairs. Nothing fancy about the place. Reminds me of an old donut shop environment. A local coffee shop in the east side tucked away in a plaza. They offer a variety of beverages and pastries but unfortunately the quality just isn't there. I've tried a few different drinks and pastries here and there's really nothing I would crave or even order again. The meat pies have been dry, the Thai tea is too sweet and the coffee is on the bitter side. The smoothie was decent. If it wasn't for the older regulars who sit inside I don't think this shop would survive. The owner herself has never been rude to me but there have been times she's been rude to my grandpa (who was a loyal customer for over a decade) hence why I'm writing this review in the first place. The quality has dipped over the years for sure. The hours are also not consistent as it'll be closed randomly either for the day or days. Inside there's seating and it's pretty clean but it's not a place you would want to hang out or do work. You'd be better off going to a Starbucks. read more

The Coffee Cup is a local Mom & Pop shop located in the corner of Toyon shopping center. This is definitely a spot where locals come often to grab food and drinks. The interior is neatly decorated with plenty of seating if you choose to eat there. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and breakfast sandwich. Me and my bf stopped by when we were in the area and we would definitely come back!! We had the vietnamese iced coffee, apple cinnamon turnover and the chocolate chip muffin. Everything was a 10/10 and cost just under $20 after tax. We also tried to banh mi for a little under $8 after tax. Obviously not as good as a banh mi shop but it definitely hit the spot. I had to run an errand in the area and wanted to find a coffee shop nearby. Aside from Starbucks, I found The Coffee Cup that was down the street. I'd rather support a local small business, so I stopped by cafe. They had a variety of food items to offer including pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and banh mi. Since I had to have a $10 minimum charge on my credit card and they didn't make banh mi until lunch, I got a couple of pastries including a guava croissant and a pineapple cream cheese croissant. The pastries were for my friend, and she mentioned that she specifically enjoyed the guava one. I got an iced latte, and it was great. I appreciated it having a big bold coffee taste, which can get lost at other coffee shops. Customer service was great. Fun and foxy cafe in the East Foothills area, I really like this place because it has a very local feel; at the Toyon center/strip mall. The customer service is warm and inviting, was here one day in the morning and a few locals enjoying their free time! Iced matcha latte was good and rich with a strong sweetness recoil, albeit sweeter than I usually drink matcha, with a less creamy profile. The drink was less loamy, but sweet like a Starbucks green tea flavor and the milkiness to it. Apricot pastry was nice and sweeter than a dry or fruit meat, and dense croissant carb layers, but made in the early morning? Overall, I did like my pastry matcha pair, but I will say the pastry fell short, seemed like a lot of gelatins in the recipe. I've been going to this cafe for a couple of years now, since it was located in the McKee/Lucky Plaza. I moved to San Jose 2.5 years ago almost pre pandemic, and the service that I've received from this owner is always with care and. I really appreciate the effort that the cafe owner goes through to prepare our coffee and to serve our sandwiches. Because from what I see, this is a one woman establishment. The environment is calm, and I'm so glad she was able to expand her business into a bigger place! I found this spot on a random run in the Eastside. I wanted some coffee and something different then the usual latte I always buy. This was a short time away from me so I drove up found parking and walked in. There was a line so I did have to wait a bit of time to place my order. While we waited which was a about a 10-15 minute wait or more we browsed the space. During my visit and every visit after that there is a large group of older men (probably a club or something) that is always sitting towards the back of the sitting area. I see the same faces every time I go. There's limited seating as is so if your lucky to catch a tiny table it's a treat to enjoy your food there. There's so many different healthy and thriving plants decorating the space. There's large refrigerator with some drink options. It's a neat space overall. The woman behind the register is friendly and always prompt running around making orders. She has a lot of regulars who just come in for a coffee or a pastry so they are in and out. Expect to wait if you place orders for breakfast items. She makes everything fresh and it's worth the wait! I've noticed people who just come for stuff that takes a minute like coffee or a pastry tend to get impatient in line but that's a you problem not the place problem. This is not your Starbuck coffee shop far from it, but a quaint cozy Vietnamese coffee cafe managed by the owner Michelle as she greets her customers with a friendly smile such a warm vibe. Menu items are posted on the wall expresso, tea, iced coffee, sandwiches, banh mi and smoothies they do have a small display of muffins and pastries a bit overpriced as I mentioned before the owner took over this shop two years ago so there may have been some changes over the previous years. Their popular drink no doubt about is Vietnamese iced coffee $5.25 medium $6 for large size cup and bánh mì prices have gone up from $6 to $7 which is how much they charged nowdays though I've seen prices as high as $8 to $10 which is quite exorbitant. Interior space is quite small no outdoor seating though it would have been nice to draw more customers. As always I had the Vietnamese iced coffee large size simply refreshing and not too strong, but enough to keep me awake on a Sunday morning with no traffic in sight. Met with my girlfriend here on this sunny Sunday for a quick drink and bite. She ordered a smoothie and I had the Lemon Ginger Tea with an Egg and Cheese Croissant. Loved the croissant as it was light, buttery, and toasted just right. The egg was still a bit runny on the inside (which I like) and adding a side of sriracha married all of it nicely together. The super sweet lady and her daughters that run the shop were very inviting and moved swiftly on orders as customers came in and out. Update: Two more attempts recently. First time, around 1pm, an hour before they're supposed to close. Open sign was on, as were the lights, but the door was locked. They were clearly closing early. Second attempt this morning. I walked from my apartment because my doctor encouraged me to walk a few days post-surgery, and I figured surely they'd be open in the morning. Arrived to the Open sign on once again, but the door locked, the lights off, and a sign reading "Will return at noon." I'll get my coffee elsewhere.
