Overall I would say this is an average to slightly above average breakfast place. The service was really great, no complaints there. The food was fine. My son had the S'mores French toast. It was good but extremely rich, which is to be expected I suppose. I had the standard Eggs Benedict with home fries, which was ok. To me the hollandaise makes or breaks a Benedict and this one was mid. The potatoes were ok as well, with a very strong rosemary flavor. My wife and daughter split a Flight of 3 (3 different pancakes) and really enjoyed it. So overall our experience would be 5 stars for service and 3 stars for food. read more

Breakfast Republic has come a long way. I believe they started in San Diego. Unfortunately they decreased in value but to give them the benefit of the doubt we will say it's because of "inflation". Parking lot is full especially on a weekend so prepare accordingly. The service was ok. Our waitress was nice and she had a smile. Unfortunately she gave me the wrong check. My in-laws were visiting from out-of-state and we wanted to take them to a place for good brunch. We've already tried Breakfast Republic when we lived in San Diego so we had a good feeling that this location was going to be just as good. We came here on a Monday morning at around 9:30 AM and there was no wait for a table of 4, although the place was pretty packed so it's possible there would be a wait if you came a little bit later. It did take a little bit of time for them to come by and give us our menus and some drinks. The patience will be worth it because the food that came out was amazing. I highly recommend the iced Ube latte! It was the perfect sweet little way to start the morning. I really liked my shrimp and ricotta omelette, which came in a really huge portion. My husband's crab Benedict was good too. I'll be honest. I've had better hollandaise sauce, but their version wasn't bad. I would read it as average. Service was decent... nothing too spectacular. Parking was easy although the closest spots to the restaurant are all 30 minute spots so you might have to park just slightly farther away for the two hour spots in their lot. Always a great breakfast spot. They don't take reservations, and the wait can get a little long on a Sunday morning if you go a little later on. Totally worth the wait! Every visit I get the cafe de olla. Slightly sweet, slightly cinnamon, perfectly pairs with every breakfast. We love the fact that they have strong gluten free options. We usually have better experiences at "this" location. We arrived at 9:30 for breakfast. There is an understandable wait on Saturdays. Our food , however, was served in phases. Two of the four meals were partially served (pancakes, no proteins). The third meal was served about 15 minutes later and the fourth 5 minutes after that. We ate cold pancakes after waiting for our wives to receive their food. We were told that they were training a new chef (on a Saturday?). The timing in the kitchen is what ruined the experience, not the food quality. The 17th st Costa Mesa location seems to have things a little more together, James and Alexis will take care of you. read more
