House potatoes are crispy outside and soft potato all combined with rosemary making it a great addition. My husband and I took our son to this place today for a Valentine's Day brunch. Our son got a side of pancake and a side of eggs, his appetite isn't the biggest and they were so accommodating for him! My husband got the churro pancake, he said that it did not taste like churro. Came here on a Sunday for lunch and there was a 30 minute wait. It's situated right next to Trader Joe's so we managed to get a shop in before our table was ready. The worn, eclectic interior of this place immediately reminded me of popular breakfast hole-in-the-wall places you're more likely to see in Seattle or Portland. This eatery is located in a shopping plaza next door to Trader Joe's at UCI. There's a huge parking lot but it's still a challenge to find a parking spot. I was here with a friend to have a weekday "breakfast-for-lunch". I immediately ordered a strawberry lemonade. I later noticed it was "bottomless" but I was never offered a refill. I wish I had known at the time as I would have demanded a refill because it was really wonderful with a perfect sweet-sour balance. I opted for the "Cluck Madame", a version of Eggs Benedict with ham, gruyere cheese, and bechemel sauce. I also asked for a side of Applewood smoked bacon. The eggs were absolutely delicious. I loved the diced house potatoes even more; so crisp with a delectable seasoning on the outside. The 3 pieces of bacon were diner-greasy with two pieces being crisp and the third one chewy. I rarely make a remark about prices but I thought this side was overpriced for three small pieces. Service was very casual and informal. By the time I asked about mine, it seemed like they forgot to make it completely. Funny enough, it showed up about 6 minutes later after I asked. After waiting that long, you'd hope the food would be worth it, but it wasn't. The avocado was rubbery, and the whole plate felt rushed and low quality. Love love love Breakfast Republic! My girlfriends and I have come here two weekends in a row now. It's a great place for brunch, with a variety of cocktails (including mimosas by the bottle with lots of juices/syrups to choose from) and delicious food. The breakfast mac 'n' cheese is a standout. Dalton and Sarah are our favorites at the bar. They're hilarious and make it an even more fun time! I'd say the only downside to this place is their parking lot, since it's entirely 30-minute limit spots due to the Trader Joe's and Target on either side of Breakfast Republic, but there are a few two-hour spots at the very end of the parking lot. It's also a smaller space so you might have to wait for a table for a bit, which isn't terrible since the ambiance is playful and chill. Also LOL to the guy who claimed he got "kicked off" of the bar this morning--the bartender politely asked if he could scoot down two stools so that our party could all sit together, but he just up and left then decided to whine about it on Yelp, I guess. Weird behavior but okay! (Their staff is very friendly and happy to accommodate everyone accordingly.) It's a lovely brunch spot. We'll be back for sure! read more

After being sat at a two-top, we waited for more than 10 minutes without anyone making eye contact or greeting us. Finally we requested service, then our server took our order. We ordered the Bloody Mary, screwdriver, café latte, Eggs Benedict, and an All American breakfast. The screwdriver came in a very bizarre, small little glass and the juice was sour fermented & absolutely disgusting. For me the Bloody Mary was too thick & spicy. The café latte was cold and then I requested a splash of hot coffee on top of it, but never received. My Eggs Benedict was pretty good but potatoes were plain and cold. I've been wanting to try this brunch place out since last year, and I finally got to try it for the first time! Came on a Friday around 1pm and there was no wait and indoor seating was available probably because I came at a later time and it was not a weekend haha. The staff members and our server were attentive and friendly, which I appreciate. I ordered the crab and crawfish cake benedict (which our server also told us it was one of his favorites so I was excited to try), while my friend got the banana split french toast. The food came relatively quick. The crab benedict was really yummy, I devoured it pretty quickly and it was quite addicting to eat. I was surprised by how well everything went well together. The egg on top was poached nicely, the blackberry jam inside was the highlight in my opinion since it gave a slight hint of sweetness to balance the saltiness, there was a generous amount of crab meat, and the sourdough english muffin was fluffy. While the priciest of all the benedicts, it was well worth the price considering there is seafood. I tried a bite of my friend's french toast, and it was pretty decent but nothing special in my opinion. I did like how her sauce came inside a cute chicken holder thing for her to drizzle. The only thing I would say I was not too fond of was the potatoes, making this visit technically a 4.5/5. Though it had a nice slight crunch to it which I liked, most if not all of the potatoes were kind of burnt (which my friend has also warned me about since she also had a similar experience with the potatoes) so I couldn't finish them. I usually like potatoes so I would have liked the potatoes more if it didn't have a burnt aftertaste, so hopefully next time I get any benedict the potatoes will be better. Overall, a solid brunch place in the plaza that I will definitely be coming back to! I am interested in trying their other benedicts and maybe their sweet options like the pancakes. read more

I came in this morning to try the restaurant since it always smells good. Every time I go to Trader Joe's after my Pilates class it smells amazing and I went early morning around 7:45 am and it was so nice. Great place to talk and get work done. I was dining by myself and I had no issues the service was amazing. My server Jose was so inviting, friendly, and patient. He helped recommend me some amazing dishes. So I will have to be back to try more because I didn't enough space in my belly left to eat more. What did I have? 1. Portuguese Linguisa Sausage + Upgraded Potatoes 2. Cafe de Olla Food Review: 1. The Portuguese Linguisa Sausage was a reccomendations from the serve and it came with these scrambled egg omlet with veggies and the sausages were bite size and it was amazing. I tried it with the hot sauce they have there and it was very good. I usually like having vegetables in my meal and I was very delighted by the potatoes also very well cut and bit size and they had bits of freshly cooked bacon and it complemented very well with the Brussels sprouts as well. In the order it also comes with your choice of toast and I got sourdough and it was the perfect size for me. They gave me a bowl with jam and butter but I felt like it wasn't like butter almost like a whipped cream and the jam is made in house. Absolutely incredible. After trying it one toast I smothered the rest as much as I could on the other slice it was just that amazing. 2. The cafe de olla came in a very big generous size cup with a creamer on the side which was a nice touch. And I didn't know but it is bottomless so they will continue to refill your cup and for only about $4.75 I think this was such a steal. The coffee had a delicious cinnamon flavor and had a good amount of sweetness. I tried it with and without creamer and both ways are amazing. I would definitely say it's friendly for people who aren't super into coffee this one is not too strong and it isn't bitter at all. Overall: The food pricing was very fair considering the portion size $17 an the upgraded potatoes was an extra 2.50. With the 4.75 bottomless cafe de olla. The subtotal for everything after tax was $26.13 which I believe is very fair. Just being in the restaurant and noticing the environment the decorations was so beautiful and such an experience all the chicken themed items it was so adorable to see. The server Jose and his team were so inviting. His manager even seated me personally giving me a give and spacious big table with a good view even though I went by myself. The food is chefs kiss! I give this restaurant a high recommendation from me as a big foodie. Will be back to try more dishes and more unique drinks well! Thank you! read more

I just tried this location of Breakfast Republic for the first time. I've been to other locations and they all have a great theme and are known for their free range eggs. I love all the decor, funny sayings and they even sell merch! At this location, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot for this location is a little crazy because it's in a busy parking lot near a Trader Joe's and Regal movie theater. I also noticed one entire row of parking spaces is only 30 minute spots. This restaurant always has a wait. It's very popular. I came on Sunday around 11am and thankfully it was only about 30 minutes. It would be really nice to be able to make reservations or even have an online waiting list. My experience today was pretty good, but service was a little slow. There were a few times we wondered where our server was at...but I just figured it was busy. The food was good, but didn't blow me out of the water. I had the strawberry mascarpone French toast and it was pretty good, but a little mushy and the strawberrys were just ok. First time discovering this place on a Sunday. We got there at 12:11pm, they told us it would be a 30 minute wait and we waited exactly 30 mins. Great location. Enough parking but it's tight. Greater was very nice. Hubby ordered the burrito he said it had no flavor hence the 4 stars. He said he couldn't taste the steak, the egg or the potatoes. I however enjoyed every bit of my meal.
