Favorite place to get breakfast in south coast metro area. Always get the Santa Ana burrito and an iced latte. Love that it's both a restaurant and coffee shop so you can just stop by for a coffee. The coffee flavors change seasonally and my favorite was a blueberry one. Service is great they are always so nice and food comes out fast. Coffee can get backed up sometimes. They have a patio and on a sunny day it's so nice to sit out there to enjoy the good weather. Only complaint is that parking can be a little difficult since the validation never seems so work in the lot across the street. Will have to try the lot behind that you pay for. read more

We had the chocolate chip pancake combo as well as an omelette and Belgium waffle. The omelette and eggs were cooked very nicely. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of toppings in the omelette. It was large and very filling. The breakfast potatoes were undercooked unfortunately on both dishes. They had potential. The Belgium waffle was below average. Usually Belgium waffles are light, fluffy, and a little crispy on the edges. This waffle was very dense, chewy, and heavy. The flavor was okay, however I wouldn't order it again. I tasted the pancakes as well and it almost had the same heavy texture. I wonder if they use the same batter. Lastly, the butter was served almost frozen. You can't spread it on anything. Our total bill for 2 people after tip was $100. I can't say I think it's worth it. The staff was nice and it was a nice day to sit outside for breakfast, but the food is about as average you can get for breakfast. A decent spot to stop and grab a coffee but I'd limit it to that. read more

Ordered on the kiosk which was smooth and got my food in like 10-15 min. I got the Santa Ana burrito w/ sausage & bacon and the Belgian Waffle Combo (keyword lol). Got home ready to eat and realized they only gave me the waffle and burrito, no eggs or bacon that come with the combo. Had to call back just to get the rest of what I already paid for. Isaac handled it well, apologized and threw in a pastry so props to him, but it shouldn't have got to that point. Food was good but the prices hit different when you're not getting everything you ordered lol. Burrito is $18 before any add-ons, I added bacon which brought it to $20, and the waffle ended up at $30 after adding Nutella, fruit and choc chips -- each add-on is $3 btw. The wild part is they charge $3 for chocolate chips, same price as banana or strawberries. It was like 10 choc chips I get charging more for add-ons such as the fruit but that one was a stretch. Overall the food was solid but they gotta work on sending out complete orders. Good customer service though, respectful and helpful. read more

I visited Rafael's Kitchen with my boyfriend frequently for MAD coffee and while I enjoyed visiting for their banana coffee, this time we wanted to try the food & the overall experience unfortunately didn't meet expectations. The customer service was lacking, which made the visit feel unwelcoming from the start. I also tried their chilaquiles for the first time, and I was really disappointed. The dish didn't feel authentic at all, especially with pico de gallo on top, which I've never seen served that way for chilaquiles. The flavor and overall quality just weren't there, and it honestly wasn't enjoyable. After three bites it went to the trash. Not to mention, the coffee didn't have the same quality as it usually does when ordering it to go, which was surprising. Because of the service and the food, I would rate this place 2 out of 5. This was our first time dining in for lunch at Rafael's, and it definitely met our expectations! We usually stop by for a morning coffee, but this time we decided to stay for lunch. We ordered the Hot Honey Pizza and Buffalo Wings. Hot Honey Pizza Even though they were out of burrata cheese and had to substitute it with mozzarella, the pizza was still excellent. It takes the classic pepperoni pizza and elevates it with a drizzle of hot honey. The sweetness and heat of the honey complement the tangy tomato sauce perfectly. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Buffalo Wings I love it when a restaurant masters the basics. Buffalo wings may not seem like anything special, but Rafael's knows how to do them right. The wings were slightly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. They were tossed in just the right amount of sauce, fully coated without being drenched. Again, I wouldn't have it any other way. Lastly, the service was amazing. Thank you to Ari for taking such great care of us during lunch. While traveling through the area, enjoyed some breakfast at Rafael's kitchen. They have a nice dog friendly patio. The patio is lovely especially on a gorgeous cool sunny morning. We initially thought the kiosk was to order but is actually for takeout. Ari was friendly and helpful to direct us to the patio to be seated. Service is quick and efficient. The service and ambiance are a 5/5 rating. We enjoyed the strawberry stuffed French toast combination with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. Of course, the mint tea went well with the meal. The French toast was quite a large portion with two large bread slices with more than enough cream, though a good amount of strawberry slices. Maple syrup was not really needed because of sweetness of the strawberries. Of course, this is personal preference as I would have preferred the slices half the French toast thickness with a bit more crispness in the toast and less cream. The eggs were nicely scrambled and the turkey sausage was just right. This meal rating 4/5. Overall 4.5 rating, in summary an indulgent meal enjoyed on a lovely morning. read more

Had lunch at Rafael's Kitchen and Mad Coffee. The ambiance was positive and staff quite friendly. The parking lot accross the street is free with validation. Our server extraordinare was Jesus who was professional, kind and knowledgeable. Top notch service and great personality. I had a cup of coffee which was perfect and the Santa Ana Buritto which was tasty and quite a large portion with half of it heading home. My wife had the Chicken caprese sandwich with a side salad. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor patio and the fantastic service that Jesus provided as he attended to multiple tables. A truly gifted customer service professional!
