Beautiful, delicate interior design,…read morea sweet patio where you can relax with a coffee and a pastry, the whole vibe is calm and cozy, which I appreciated so much. Now, the real star: the gluten-free baked goods. We tried four different things, cookies included, and honestly? I was stunned. The flavor, the softness, the balance, nothing felt like a "gluten-free compromise." It tasted like the real deal, maybe even better. Not overly sweet, not dry, not crumbly, just genuinely delicious pastries that happen to be gluten-free. I don't know what magic they're working in that kitchen, but this is easily the best gluten-free bakery I've come across. A must-visit, no question.

How have I lived Austin TX so long and had not discovered Maaribu!? Maaribu is modern, cool and…read moreeclectic coffee shop and store where you can have the most delicious cup of coffee along with a pastry or bite. Every piece in the store appears to be intentionally curated. Maaribu melds a home and gift shop with an in house café and bakery, creating an experience that's both relaxing and memorable. According to Mable, my server, Maaribu is a combination of the word Marfa (Texas town that has the Prada store) and Malibu. The brand is often described as combining Marfa's creative spirit, Malibu's laid back lifestyle, and clean Scandinavian design. The shop portion of Maaribu is beautifully styled, featuring furniture, décor, books, and gifts that have a modern flare. All the items are easy to peruse and get drawn in. The use of color is playful and engaging. Maaribu's key highlight is its café and bakery. The in house café has an assortment of coffee, wellness beverages, and dedicated gluten free baked goods. I bought a Rose honey latte, which was divine along with a multi-layer pastry. Mable said customers enjoy the quality and flavor of the pastries...scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites are frequent favorites. Importantly, the café is reported to be fully gluten free, which makes it a standout destination for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, without sacrificing taste or variety. The outdoor seating and patio area add to the charm, making Maaribu a great place to enjoy coffee and pastries on a nice Austin morning. After years in Austin, I finally discovered Maaribu--a modern, eclectic coffee shop and store. Every item is thoughtfully curated, blending a home-and-gift shop with a café and bakery for a relaxing experience. The name combines Marfa's creative vibe, Malibu's laid-back style, and Scandinavian design. The shop offers stylish furniture, décor, books, and gifts, all easy to browse and visually engaging. Maaribu's café is fully gluten-free, featuring quality pastries like scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites, as well as wellness drinks and coffee. Outdoor seating makes it a perfect spot to enjoy coffee and pastries on a pleasant Austin morning. Wow...Maaribu!!!

We ordered the Firebird chicken biscuit sandwich, and it was absolutely incredible. The spicy chicken breast was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the combo of fresh dill mayo, house pickles, and cilantro tied everything together so well. Every bite was bold, fresh, and seriously addictive. And the biscuits... unreal!! They were so buttery and flaky that I couldn't leave without taking some home, along with their house jam. Easily some of the best biscuits I've ever had. If you're in Austin, this is a must! No question!

Our daughter used to live a few minutes from the Lamar location, but we've also been to the OG Manor Road location (as we did today). I've yet to try something I didn't like, but the favorite is Bird Bird Bacon. The biscuit is all you could ask for - flaky, buttery, a bit of salt - and if you can't eat it for a little while, it's still good (not all biscuits age well - some are only good as they come out of the oven). The "bird" in this case is the egg, over medium so it doesn't run all over the place, but not dry like a hard boiled egg. The generous stack of bacon is smoky but not overly so. All together, it's an amazing sandwich. If you're hungrier, I suggest the Queen Beak or Theodore. Check the www site for details and click on the Story link too. The chicken is crunchy and fried perfectly. For me, it's a lot to eat, but I have indulged on occasion. Finally, you need to try the Dough Doughs. They're biscuit balls fried up like donuts, about 3xthe size of a donut hole and covered with cinnamon sugar. Absolutely amazing. (I've tried to replicate these at home between visits, but mine are not as good.) Go. Enjoy!!
