Alain's most recent venture -Brasserie D is his best yet. Same great quality of Alain's Bistro and Alain's Petite Bistro just on a grand scale. The space is amazing featuring both indoor and outdoor dining with a huge bar area. Typical French brasserie fare but delivered in Alain's special way with great local ingredients. Always try his specials: last night we had the celery root soup served chilled was outstanding as well as the Jersey tomatoes with buratta. The servers are great, two sons are amongst the staff which you can tell are as passionate as their dad. There is a full bar as well as wine and beer. I urge you to try this place...a place to love. Great vibes here!

Just opened July 27, thought I'd try this new French brasserie, as I am a lover of authentic French food. Glad I had made a reservation as the place was jumping. Pretty decor with French paintings, an old fashioned tin ceiling, a long bar for many patrons, along with high top tables and alfresco dining as well. The entire frontage of the restaurant has accordion doors so it's completely open to the street, a nice touch, especially in today's world. My friend ordered the Asparagus Spinach Vichyssoise that was outstanding- very comparable to Sardi's. It was a very healthy sized serving. Then came the Steak Tartare & the Muscles Mariniere, without the cream as I'm dairy free. The Steak Tartare had a beautiful presentation with a quail egg on top. It came with frites and salad. It was good, but not great. It could have had more seasoning. It was quite bland. The Muscles Mariniere was fair at best. The problem is too frequently restaurants use pre-prepared garlic, instead of chopping it themselves. When they use preprepared, it has an aftertaste. It was also loaded with it- very overpowering & just not good. Usually this is served with a crusty baguette to dip in the broth, however the chef served frites with it instead. In this instance no loss as the last thing I wanted to do was have the broth. When presented it had tiny white pieces of something I could not identify, then realizing it was the garlic that was actually puréed and much too much of it. It gave the appearance of a lot of grated cheese on the food. I could not eat much of it. Great wine list. Enjoyed a nice Boudreaux. They serve brunch as well. Not sure I'd give it another try considering the garlic issue as I'm sure it's present in most dishes.

We had to come here because they have Steak Tartare!! It was lovely to sit outside with our dog and people watch. The food was good, French fries were still hot when they came to the table. The steak tartare was fresh and flavorful. Accommodating staff brought water to our dog, and petted her on the head. We will be back for more tartare.

An A plus restaurant. Found it by complete accident and ended up spending hours therr and enjoying truly splendid french cuisine. A true find. We will be back! The owner Alain is really a french master chef in our own back yard who could imagine that.

Where else can you sit at a sidewalk table with the chef, before the rush, people watching. If you're looking for authentic, regional French food, and also a great burger or omelette, in a perfect little river town, Brasserie D is the place. I've also previously shared I try to support #local #business ‍ especially #authentic, #familyowned #restaurants, introducing myself to owners and staff whenever possible. Why? Because restaurants appreciate the business, thank you for the good comments, and may go above and beyond to make your visit a satisfying one. That's the experience we always get at @brasserie_d_nyack, where #owner, #chef Alain, and son Christophe personally greet and serve their guests. That Alain is from #Alsace and his menu reflects a remarkable #French diversity, offering dishes hard to find anywhere else except #france is a deal closer for a #foodie like me. If you #swipe the last pic it's of a half finished #bloodymary - I wasn't fast enough with the camera :-). Of course we also enjoyed what I think should be considered their famous #frisee #salad with the perfect #poachedeggs, #bakedbrie , #moules, #steak and #frites, all perfectly prepared and enjoyed for #brunch on a sunny Sunday or Friday night dinner.

We were chatting with Vanessa before realizing she would be singing later, and wow--she has a beautiful voice and sang some favorites like "Just the Two of Us." We ordered the fried whiting over a waffle, fried chicken with collard greens and fried okra, and shrimp and grits with a pecan coating. Portions were huge, so we took plenty home for our group of three adults and a toddler. Everything was slightly spicy, super crispy, and absolutely delicious. A small but much-appreciated touch: they brought our 2-year-old ice water with a lid without us even asking. The warm sweet potato cornbread muffins were amazing--we liked them so much we ordered some to take home. We'll definitely be back!

The chicken looked good but I only ate 1/2 piece of the wing. (Still have me a horrible headache on the way home). Place is small but that's the least of their problems. Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Maybe wait a few years and try them, if they happen to stay open by some miracle.

The menu looked amazing and we're excited but we're worried we weren't dressed appropriately, Caroline insured us we woke fit in just fine. I personally love to dine at the bar when possible especially with a great bartender like Izzy. We were the first ones there by accident which can feel funny but Izzy was so warm and welcoming and very eager to meet us and tell us about the epic menu and the show stopping desserts. We told Izzy our drink preferences and he nailed it each drink. We started with a dozen oysters that were incredible and shocked perfectly. Then followed that with the bone marrow which had a tasteful amount of chimichurri sauce and a side of crunchy salt to use for your liking. It was delicious! We were temped to next get the octopus but needed room for the "bar only specials" which is a brilliant idea very unique. It was a wagu blend cheese burger with arugula and a delicious black garlic spread and perfectly cooked fries. Perfect for sharing! A dinner isn't complete without an espresso martini! I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast and fan of wine, spirits and excellent desserts. Lastly the decor was also amazing. The chef's not only designs top notch desserts he also did the wood work art along the bar. I also loved the pictures of all the people in the back of the restaurant over the course of there decades of business. Lastly the history is incredible it use to be the village hall and jailhouse! They incorporated the jail into a wine cellar that seats two people for a fun drink before or after dinner. Highly give this place a 10 out of 10 for excellent food, drink, service and vibes! The care and detail in everything presented to the diner are so thoughtful. The drinks deserve just as much praise and are beautifully crafted. If you're lucky enough to visit on a night when Izzy is behind the bar, consider yourself fortunate. He's not only a "DJ" of cocktails, but warm, friendly, and fun to be around. When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.
