Sidewalk Bistro is one of my 'go to' places in Piermont. The food is consistently good, with standout appetizers and specials such as the lobster dumplings and tuna tartare. The crab cakes melt in your mouth, the complimentary bread is fresh and warm. The menu is eclectic, offering everything from fresh seafood and creative appetizers to steaks, pasta dishes, salads, and seasonal specials, so there's something for just about everyone. In the summer, the outdoor garden is especially charming. With its tables tucked among the greenery and an outdoor bar, it feels romantic, relaxed, and a little bit like you've escaped the suburbs for the evening and found yourself in the heart of a tiny European street at a village restaurant. The dining room is surprisingly spacious for a Piermont restaurant, yet still remains intimate. Between the sidewalk seating that brings a bit of a Parisian café atmosphere to the village and the beautiful garden out back, there are plenty of great spots to enjoy a main fish or a few appetizers .... or both. And while drinks can vary depending on who's behind the bar, my favorite bartender there makes a truly excellent cocktail (no names). Horrible dinner for me! Not a GF friendly place. I booked a table for 5 on 6/14/25 for a B'Day celebration. I asked when booking if there were gluten free options as I have Celiac. I was told the Duck entree was gluten free. We were very good natured about the service with a new in-training waitress. The service was def not good but we understood. We actually got our own place settings. I asked the waitress to ask the Chef if the French onion soup without the bread was GF and was told it was. I ordered that. I asked the waitress twice to double check that the Duck with an orange brandy sauce was gluten free. She said the Chef said it was. I was told that it was TWICE, 3 x's as told so when I booked the res. So I ordered the duck. NO, it evidently is not GF! I had immediate heartburn and indigestion after eating the duck. I didn't want to ruin the celebration but I felt terrible. Our party was very generous in tipping, even though the service was not good but we had fun celebrating. I did up until I had the duck. Within two hours I was feeling very nauseous, with pain and bloating and horrible heartburn. I vomited 4 x's in 2 hrs, and was up all night in pain. I am still having trouble digesting food as the lower intestine gets inflamed and does't process food right. Very unpleasant. It can and is taking weeks to recover. I am a VERY UNHAPPY diner. If it wasn't a gluten reaction then I was poisoned by food poisoning. Doubtful, as it doesn't usually last weeks... I called the restaurant 3 x's to talk to the woman owner/mgr who was there on 6/14 regarding this matter. No response. PLEASE DO NOT SAY SOMETHING IS GLUTEN FREE if for example you make a roue' for the brandy based sauce etc. Also, look up the symptoms that a Celiac suffers after ingesting gluten. The restaurant was fairly busy at around 6pm on a Monday night and we were seated right away. I ordered the burger and asked for a medium but it was cooked well done. However the fries were super good. One star off for an issue with the menu. We ordered the mussel and fries as an entree but we're not told that a small order did not include fries. When our food arrived we asked the waiter about our fries and a manager came who was not the most pleasant. She could have definitely handled the situation differently. One of the nicer restaurants in the area. Nice table clothed dining. Lacks French vibes but food is quite good. Wine list isn't too intimidating but nothing jumps out. Seafood pasta and duck dishes have a nice mix of elements and left us wanting more. For example the duck dish has both the confit (leg) and some duck breast. The only slight negative is that bread is NOT complimentary, which I joked about. But it is a tad unpleasant to wait for entrees with nothing to nosh on. What a lovely, lovely place do not stop in the front and sit there. Go into the restaurant and go out back to the garden. There's a bar in the garden. It's much cooler & it's a nicer vibe. It is nice ambience. Trust me you want to do that.. the food was delicious- my friend and I shared a pizette & salad- Oh, we did not take a picture of the cauliflower soup which was the soup of the day. I've been here twice in the last 2 months. Reilly's upstairs closes early so I wandered down the street and found this place. The bartender Steven is incredibly nice and welcoming. I ate a late dinner there last time and had mussels and mushroom ravioli. Both were incredible. Interesting customers. From 30's to 60's I'd say. It's exceptional, really. Unfussy and beautiful. What the chef can do with cod and salmon is nothing short of miraculous. The salads are fresh, crispy and dripping with flavor thanks to the singularly delicious mustard vinaigrette. The molten lava cake is as sublime as it is decadent. And a shout-out to the manager, Alexis, who makes you feel you're her best friend. It's a gift, and Alexis has it. Sidewalk Bistro is a gift, too. read more

I thought the food here was very good. This is a charming french restaurant with great service. We came at a not very busy time and were seated and served very quickly. The drinks and food were on point and I had no complaints with any of the entrees or appetizers. The fish came out on a bed of risotto and was delicious as well as the burger that my partner got was cooked extremely well. Drinks were also fantastic as we both ordered the blood orange mimosa. The prices were reasonable and everyone there was very nice. Overall I would recommend Sidewalk bistro as a place to take friends, a date, or family. read more

Sidewalk Bistro in Piermont suffers from the same problems every business in Piermont: not enough parking. We parked in a lot about 1000 yards from the restaurant and had to walk on unlit streets. The restaurant has a pretty back garden which overlooks nothing but a fence. The menu has a variety of French dishes and our party tried several of them, including the cornish hen, shrimp and scallops, pork chops and salmon. Each dish came with polenta which is bland and tasteless. The servings of wine were small and, for the price, inadequate. The waitress was very incompetent and seemed to not know the menu or offer suggestions about how the food was prepared. She came over to our table only when we signaled to her and immediately gave us the check after the meals were done. Overall, a "blah" dining experience and it left us feeling like we couldn't see a reason to come back again. read more

My wife and I have fallen in love with the Bistro. They offer a Wednesday BYOW, the staff is awesome, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Been there probably 5-6 times this year and will continue to enjoy this restaurant. Hopefully they continue with the BYOW as there is nothing better than "Great Food" along with your favorite wine. My friend and I have met here twice. She lives in Fort Lee, I live in Westchester NY. The location is convenient, the restaurant is near the water but not on or adjacent but we came again because I had the French onion soup and perfectly cooked calamari the first time and she had something she liked. Today I ordered a quiche Lorraine which was fine, it was the 4th of July and we were happy to sit in the back garden, in the shade, have an aperitif and some lunch. The service is lovely, the garden is so pretty and private and almost filled before we left. The front sidewalk patio was 1/2 filled when we came in. I had a Rum Soaked sponge cake with red berries and whipped cream and about halfway through, I suddenly thought, STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!!! one of my favorite things in the world when it is done right. This certainly was and the rum infused sponge cake just perfect. We will be back. I had a nice strong coffee with cream. They do not do "latte" type coffees but I am going to suggest this place to two other friends. I love Piermont too. Not a photo, I just enjoyed the food, ambiance and my company. The help was awesome, they never left us stranded and we always felt that there was somebody around to ask if we needed anything else. read more

We sat outside in the garden and it was beautifully decorated with a really great atmosphere. We first ordered the escargot for an appetiser which was fantastic. We then ordered a fig jam pizza which was a crispy thin crust pizza topped with fig slices, fig jam, and prosciutto. The sweetness of the figs really balanced out the saltiness of the ham. We finished off with a moulles au poulette which was covered with a light but flavourful creamy white wine sauce. Would definitely recommend coming here and if you have time before or after, make sure to walk along the pier - the view is beautiful! read more

And the highlight of the pleasant evening there was that when I asked for macchiato (usually waiters look at me like I am from the moon and ask what it is), the waiter asked that if I know what I am ordering and that is an espresso shot with some foam milk and not some shitty coffee from dunk..in donuts menu. It is off the street, has a great little vibe, there is a roaming cat (!), and the bar has charm ... and sports on TV, for those who need extra entertainment. I have been coming here for years. The only downside is the occasional errant wasp. My daughter once had one floating in her curried mussels. I think it's the tastiest and most straight forward food in Piermont. Ive tried them all. To start the hostess is delightful. It's COVID. It's scary out there. The distance tables perfectly , they are pleasant and when told the wait would be 30 mins they actually called us in 20 The espresso martini is the best in town. We ordered the crab cake which was perfectly seared and 100% crab ! The salmon grilled and presented perfectly over Bock Choy and string beans. Though both times were pretty humid days, and the mosquitoes found me so I would advise to come prepared with bug spray if you're prone to getting bit. I've enjoyed the various appetizers, and it seems as though they always have great specials available. However, my go-to for the entree is their mussels poulette as the main course portion, which I think is good for two people, but I'd rather not share them because the broth is so good.
