We went to Ella's Saturday night. I'd rate it as mediocre. We had a table in the middle of the restaurant, close to other tables on the sides, so we couldn't move our chairs. I had to glance directly at the setting sun. The manager came and said "the sun will set soon", but it didn't. Thankfully my husband moved his chair to the side and blocked the sun for me. We'd rather have waited for another table had we known of the sun. Our waitress never read us the specials, which we later heard at nearby tables. Our water had no lemon in it, while everyone around us had lemon. We enjoyed our appetizer of Zucchini chips, and the Tzadiki was fantastic. The dinner rolls were also nice. My husband ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, which he liked, but the portion was small, & he had no problem finishing all of it. I ordered Chicken Milanese. The Milanese wasn't crisp enough, so when they piled salad on top with Balsamic Vinaigrette, it got a little soggy, even though I immediately took the salad off. My chicken cutlet had a large cut halfway across it. Possibly it was cut to see if it was done, but don't they have a meat thermometer? Maybe they figured that with a salad on top, the large cut wouldn't be seen? I noticed it though. Worst for me though was the vegetable side dish. Instead of a healthy vegetable, I was given a mushy, over-cooked Cauliflower covered in Buffalo Hot Sauce and butter. I'm guessing that they had made Buffalo Cauliflower for an appetizer another day, and had some leftover, so they decided to use it as a vegetable side? Hey, if I wanted leftovers, I'd have eaten at home. The waitress who never read us the specials also never came by to ask if everything was okay. I'd like it if someone at Ella's realizes that good customers can recognize when things are not up to the usual high standards. We notice when leftovers are served as side dishes. We notice when entrees are cut into. We don't enjoy being given tables with sun glare. We used to enjoy Ella's, and we hope that this was just an off day. read more

Nice little restaurant in this Rockland town. The server was very nice and on it for dinner. We had the Pasta Fagioli, Tusan Salad, Fried Calamari, and a Cheese pizza. pie. Soup was ok with a little too thin for me. Calamari was not the freshest, but the salad and pizza were good. Salad had mushrooms and mozzarella and tomatoes with let and a balsamic drizzle. The NY plzza had a crisp but thin crust, and the sauce was nicely done. I would have liked it a little bit thicker bit it was good. read more

I have been waiting to try Ella Restaurant for some time. I have celiacs, so when finding a restaurant that offers gluten free options, I'm always excited. Arriving to the restaurant was easy, despite realizing the entrance was in the back after walking around. The staff were extremely welcoming and we felt at ease. There was a mix of orders from other family members from pasta and meatballs to my personal gf salad pizza. The pizza was light and I managed to eat the whole thing (very rare!) I would recommend Ella's to visitors or neighbors passing by. read more

Went for lunch over the weekend. Such a great experience! They have a lovely lunch menu that is very reasonably priced. My daughter had a personal pizza that was made to order and delicious. I had a sandwich that came with a side of fries. So large, I was able to take half home! And my mother had their Greek rap. Was in the neighborhood around lunchtime. Popped in here and glad we did cute place. Sat outside and enjoyed a fresh homemade lunch. Started with a Bianco flat bread which has prosciutto spinach ricotta and mozzarella. So flat and crispy with fresh ingredients. Ordered a Waldorf chicken salad. Great twist with Gorgonzola cheese. Salad so crisp. I ordered chicken souvlaki platter. Came with a fresh salad to start. Chicken just grilled very tender inside fries crispy with hint of lemon . Tzatziki was homemade and super favorable. Thanks Yelp for a free dessert. Homemade apple pie that looked like if grandma made it. Waitress was excellent and place is spotless. First time dining and hopefully not the last! Picked up lunch for a client. Lunch prices are in line with new and higher restaurant prices. Pictured is my vegetable panini with fries at $11.00. It was pretty tasty and I'd order it again! All items ordered were fresh and tasty with decent portions. Lunch menu items are more reasonable and a better value than dinner menu items. 20oz. bottle sodas for $3.50 are steep! Good food and service. Looking forward to another lunch from Ella! read more

Food is delicious. The staff are great! The owner is not pleasant. Has an attitude. The pizza guy is always busy but still has a great disposition. Stay away from the grump it'll spoil your meal. Ambiance is also beautiful. That being said, Mr. Owner, if you are going to be rude and grumpy, stay away and let the employees interact with the customers. My family and I have been dine in customers for many years. The pandemic has converted us to order take out-pick up orders. We've noticed over the last 3 orders that the portions are much smaller than before. for example, we recently ordered 3 salmon dinners costing around $22.00 each. The salmon portion was no larger that the size of my finger and came with rice and mushy cauliflower pieces. When I got home I found they forgot to include the house salad and rolls, When I called, they stated they no longer give house salads with takeout and they forgot to include bread. In the future I will order from other restaurants as they are too expensive for what they provide. read more

This is definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. The entrees and pastas are delicious and the pizza is fabulous. Since covid we have been getting takeout delivered from them ( grubhub) on a weekly basis and the food arrives incredibly fast and its hot and delicious. I went to lunch here with my boyfriend. The food was such a wonderful surprise! I wasn't expecting a lot, but was pleasantly surprised how flavorful and authentically home made everything tasted. The complimentary bread was tasty, little round rolls that had a hint of garlic flavor. My boyfriend got the pasta bolognese. The sauce is what made the dish. Often marina sauce can taste very generic, like from a jar. Here it tasted homemade and fresh. I got the Italian panini, which had prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, red peppers and a balsamic glaze. It came on a pita like bread that was pressed and crunch enough. The balsamic glaze was not over whelming. We also ordered mozzarella sticks (amazing with the marina sauce. I'd buy just a jar of that stuff) and a dessert of the coconut/mango tartufo. The dessert was so good! Not so heavy that you feel bloated, but satisfied. I wish we took pictures but we were so eager to eat the food. We spent 41$ for all of that. I'd average an entree 10-15$. Well worth it for home made food and the service was amazing! Our waitress was so attentive and everything came out so quickly. Overall, I would recommend this place for a quick bite or an easy lunch. You truly won't be dissatisfied. The food is awesome had pork chop, and eggplant parmigiana. Portions are small one pork chop one layer of eggplant. Had lava cake but no lava it's just a cold upside down cup cake no hot chocolate oozing out they put a side of vanilla ice cream on side. Staff excellent attentive free soda refills. If you sit behind the restaurant you will notice the cooks going back and forth with the food... from one store to another section of the building, opening the doors with the same gloves they deal the food with. I just so happen to notice that and immediately felt disgusted. I can only imagine that they do not take off the gloves and cook with the dirty ones. read more

For New City, a solid three stars is a very good rating. For the lack of decent Italian restaurants in the area, Ella does a good job of staying relevant. The restaurant is conveniently located on Main Street where most of New City's restaurants are situated. Ella is a nice building with outdoor seating and a large amount of indoor seating. You'll usually find a wide range of people, from kids to families, they appeal to everybody. Food wise, everything is pretty standard. Some of my go to favorites are the eggplant parm, the shrimp scampi, and the crab crusted salmon. Nothing is amazing, but you'll never have a bad experience with any of these three dishes. Ella will beat any Italian craving you have, and is definitely a better option that some of the surrounding Italian restaurants. Keep up the good work! read more

I'm a pretty big fan of Ella. There are a lot of Italian options around, most of which with I've had a shaky experience or two. At Ella, on the other hand, I've always had an enjoyable experience. That almost always consists of getting chicken parm with angel hair (which at $10 for lunch is a bargain). The chicken has a nice bit of crispness to it and there's a solid balance between cheese and sauce. Not spectacular but never disappointed and always hits the spot. read more

My manager recommended me to this place, and the customer service here was great! It's easy to pass by, so look for a bright blue Ella sign! They do have parking towards the back, which is also a plus so don't feel rushed to park only on the side of the street. I love the family feel indoors, and outdoors they have seating! Average Italian food. Friendly service and atmosphere. Went here on a Friday night with 5 friends. We were seated promptly at a round table which was great for a party of our size. I ordered the Chicken balsamico which came with a house salad. I got the house dressing which was quite good. The entrée was pretty good. Chicken was cooked well and the rice was moist. Overall no complaints with the meal but also nothing that had a wow factor. For dessert we got the lava cake and split it amongst the table. We used the check in offer from yelp which was a nice promo. The cake was a bit dry but the center was excellent. Service was great here and food came out in a very timely manner. The food was pretty good. Even though they are an italian restaurant, they have a lot of different meals for everyone.. We had someone who was gluten free and that wasnt a problem... someone else couldnt eat bread and that wasn't an issue. Everything was great and I would go again. Pricing was pretty good too - i think it ended up being $20pp after tax and tip. The issue is compared to other Italian restaurants, it was just on par. Not better not worse. And no wow factor. If you are in the area and looking to have a good meal - go. The ambiance is nice. But if you are looking for a shocker, sorry this place just will not do. read more
