I absolutely loved this restaurant, from the beautiful decor to the welcoming staff and hands-on owner/chef who goes out of his way to personally connect with guests while serving outstanding food. Every detail feels thoughtfully considered, even down to the rare perk of convenient parking in Nyack and a check that clearly shows a discounted cash price. I ordered the special: black ink fettuccine with lobster tail, scallops, and shrimp. While the lobster was slightly overcooked, everything else was scrumptious- honestly "mm good" and "magically delicious." Even the bread stood out, served with a fantastic dipping sauce. And the drinks? Absolutely nailed it. To top it all off, there was a live musician playing soft music (not to be confused with "muzak" adding yet another layer to an already wonderful dining experience. We were able to be accommodated immediately, we were given a choice and we went to sit outside because the weather was great. Ambiance is fun and classy at the same time. We love this place! We try to go every Monday or at least 1x a week if we can. We love the ambiance it's so relaxing , beautiful decor and most of all you can hear your conversations. the owner and staff are very personable. Natalie who we mostly get is the perfect server. Living a distance from South Nyack we have been to Dolce Vita 4-5 times over the last couple of years when we are in the area. We are writing about this last visit a few days ago. As always the food was very good and atmosphere conducive to a nice experience. HOWEVER we must comment on the attitude and policies of the manager/owner? We noticed the prices were much higher than our last visit months ago, which we can understand, but when I asked about it at the end of the meal the manager/owner said yes we did so and we'll probably do it again soon with an attitude. We also at the end of the meal when presented with the Bill, I saw that a CASH payment of the Bill was one price, and for CARD payment the bill was 3-4% higher. ALSO with the suggestion that tips be paid with cash. So we gave a card to pay the full bill and then gave a large bill to pay a tip with the SPECIFIC REQUEST to give the difference back to me. When they returned I was NOT given the $'s change but presented with the Receipt having reduced the Bill payment by Card and they KEPT THE TOTAL CASH! Having not only charged EXTRA FOR THE CARD but having reduced the amount they paid to the card company they kept the difference! When I questioned this, the attitude of the manager/owner to this was oh I'll change it if you want! The care for the patron, was second to their watching out for every extra unearned Dollar they can make. With the higher prices having spent over $200 for meal with tip you'd think they could or would forgo the Card Charge let alone NOT abuse it! WATCH OUT! 2nd time here. This time for a celebratory dinner - apps, entrees and desserts plus alcohol. First the good- service was excellent and the waiter was very attentive. The arugula and beet salads were very good, as was the popcorn shrimp. Now for the bad- should I start with 3 of 6 people were in varying stages of ill (stomach) after dining, 2 had chicken and one had clams. The portions were tiny at best, none of the entrees were exceptional, average at best. The chicken Francaise was almost laughable at the portion size. 1 small piece of chicken and an ice cream scoop of dry mashed potatoes with 2 carrots and 3 broccoli rabe stalks. Chicken Saltimboca was similarly sized and chicken parm was over pasta, all with 1 small piece of chicken. The short rib was a bit tough but larger portion of beef but same sized sides. We shared a few crème brûlées and honestly not my favorite flavor (lemon?) ... now the price...$600 for 6 people including tip. I have zero issue paying those prices when the food is excellent and portions are decent. The only reason a few had leftovers was because we saved room for dessert. Each person had an entree, however apps and desserts were shared. There are plenty of restaurant choices out there and I'd recommend looking for a choice that offers the best balance of taste and value. read more

Absolutely love this place , it was our 40th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day but they were booked so we celebrated on the day before probably a good choice as not to feel rushed , the owner and our waitress Naomi were very pleasant as well as the rest of the wait staff , the food was nicely plated and did not disappoint, starters chard octopus and Barata salad were delicious, main course was the Chilean base and rack of lamb were amazing ! Our only disappointment was that we reserved on yelp and recieved confirmation, only to be told by the host that the only tables available were by the entrance which felt a bit cramped, she did t seem to find my reservation and we felt as if she took us as walk ins and gave us no option but the seating right behind her . Came here with my husband and parents on a Tuesday evening. We had the borek and the clams oreganata for appetizers I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli, my mom had the shrimp scampi, my husband the scallops and shrimp pasta and my father ordered the half rack of lamb. Everything was delicious. The wild mushroom ravioli with braised beef was great. I do wish there was a bit more braised beef but overall it was very flavorful. The service was great ! I have to start with our server, Joseph, outstanding! It was my wife & I, celebrating our anniversary. Joseph sat us in the back corner, perfect! I explained to him my unfortunate limitations due to an ailment, and he suggested the whole Bronzino, broiled with just olive oil & sea salt. It was delicious! Quality of service has taken a massive drop since our last visit. It seems like the owners are doing the best they can but they're not able to cover the restaurant and bar on their own resulting in very slow service. Our server told us she was new and I'm sure this is probably that person's first restaurant job because they clearly had no idea where to go, what to do, what to check, etc. The food is still good but not as good as when the chef was in the kitchen. Now he's out running food and some of the items just weren't as good as our last visit. We wanted to order dessert but the service was taking so long it started to get late and we had to go so we just got the check. Hopefully things change and they get some good front of house staff soon. I probably won't return until I see the recent reviews here take a more positive swing. read more

I rarely leave a 5 star review but this restaurant's food deserves it. We went on a Sunday afternoon for a special family celebration--6 adults and two children. Every bite I tried was excellent; way beyond what I would expect in an apparently casual restaurant. We ordered 3 appetizers for the table: Fried Calamari, Sizzling Shrimp and Mozzarella Sticks for the children. No pre-breaded and frozen mozzarella sticks here! The seasoned mozzarella was wrapped in thin wanton rice paper. They were so crispy and delicious that the adults were snitching slices and the hand breaded calamari were so tender that the children were gobbling them up! The Sizzling Shrimp comes in a tomato bruschetta that was terrific on the plentiful homemade Focaccia. REALLY GOOD! I had Mushroom Ravioli in a rich short rib sauce. My impression was of homemade pasta, extraordinary mushrooms in a long, and slow-cooked, generously meaty sauce. A spectacular entree was Grilled Bronzino, served on a cutting board, with broccolini and carrots. The small taste I had was perfect! The Sea Bassit was reported to be delicious by someone who orders it frequently. A real show stopper was the Shrimp, Scallops and half a Lobster Tail in a Scampi Sauce over Fettuccine. The presentation was outstanding and the taste was consistent with the look of it. A similar dish was Scallops and Shrimp on Fettuccine with a Truffle Sauce. I was offered one of the scallops which was large, tender and delicately flavored with truffle. The sauce was rich and light at the same time. Masterful! One child had a Hamburger and the other Chicken Fingers. Neither was ordinary. My husband was so impressed with the burger that he suggested we come back soon just for burgers. The chicken fingers were also homemade but never made it to my end of the table. All I know is that my husband insisted they go into our burgeoning leftover containers, then followed up to be sure they were included; he had tasted them! The service was friendly, competent and helped. The Pinot Noir was especially good! Another glass of it merits a return trip. I'll get that when we go back for the burgers read more

My husband, myself, and two friends went to this place for the first time on Valentine's Day and we were very disappointed. We had reservations for 1:30 pm. There was only one other table. The following is what was wrong: my friend asked for lemon for her water, my other friend asked for a second carafe of water to be refilled, we asked for two separate checks, my husband asked for coffee with milk and sugar, and received two spoons instead of the requested two forks for the creme brulee and the stuffed calamari was not very good and cold. The stuffed calamari was not worth the $22. My friend never got the lemon, instead of bringing another carafe of water, they removed one of the waters, they gave one check, they gave my husband half and half and no sugar for his coffee. The only items that were good were the creme brulee and our two friend's dessert of Tiramisu. We would not recommend this restaurant. It was not worth over $200 for lunch for the four of us. read more
