I will keep this brief as I like to make a more detailed review having enjoyed the dining experience a few times. While I have visited PP under the new ownership a few times for pizza and perhaps a lunch basic like chicken parm, I only had one real dinner in the rear dining area about a week ago. It was truly excellent in all ways including a super-friendly service. I might have even gone with five-stars based on the food quality, quantity, and friendliness of the service. I wish I could recall (or even find on the online menu) the name of the dish, but it was essentially a chicken cordon bleu. The chicken and ham were super-tender, the coating delightfully crispy -- even under a quite ample serving of an amazingly flavorful, but quite delicate cream sauce. The only negative was the speed of service, but it was a Friday, it was pretty busy, and being with friends and chatting, it was not that annoying, but if I was alone or really hungry, I would have been irked. The speed of service was also mitigated by plenty of excellent, store-baked bread with a nice olive-oil dipping mix. Based on my past more casual experiences and my one dining experience, it's safe to say they anyone would enjoy the experience there. read more

We ordered the Chicken Scarpiello over rigatoni and the same with the Chicken Marsala & both came with a salad. It was so good we ordered some to go. If you are in the area give them a try. Chicken florentine, egg coated and pan fried, baked with spinach and mozzarella, with a creamy mushroom sauce.. it was done well and cared for. It was heavy as to be expected, but it wasn't aggressively salted in the best way. You kept going for it, which is rare for such a rich dish like that. Shrimp scampi was done beautifully. The cook on the garlic was close to absolute perfection, which is what makes the whole dish. Nice shrimps, great flavor all around. And again, not cloying.. it wasn't so heavy that you weren't going back for it. Well balanced. Broccoli rabe - very good, just what you'd suspect. The delivery (pizza and pastas) has always been the best we've found near Nyack (we're coming from NJ and Brooklyn, so we're a little spoiled but honest with our expectations.) But the on a whim dine in today really was exceptional. Food and service made us feel at a home. And the owners made us feel like family. i'm sorry to say to say that I did not have the same great experience as others. The pizza, salad with grilled chicken and garlic rolls were fine , the pasta fagiole soup was ok...but the chicken noodle soup was right out of a campbell's homestyle chicken noodle soup can...LITERALLY. And Yes I called and was told no that he made the soup this morning and thicker this time with bigger noodles. There is no mistaking that Campbell soup smell. I moved to Congers a year ago from NYC. I had the best pizza ever 3 blocks away from my house. So I've been trying all the locals to get a satisfying tasting pizza. So far only one pizzeria in Valley Cottage has come to par. One evening my daughters wanted pizza for dinner, and I was too tired to drive to Dee Maria's, so I gave Primavera a try. The crust was burnt, hard, and tasteless. I have NEVER before had such horrible pizza. My daughter's comment after we gave it a bite and put all 3 slices in the garbage, "Next time I'm making my own pizza". Pizza is delicious! Pizza is great! Owner seems to nice... Frankie makes a great pie, perfectly as ordered. The young lady who took my order on the phone hung up in my ear without giving me a chance to ask if there would be a wait or not. I went right up there. Was greeted promptly by who I think was the owner, and they started making my pizza as soon as they heard my name. Young people need to show a better level of response to customers. It isn't only here, but in other venues. Such is life. The bottom line, we'll order from them again. They make great pizzas. read more

I am Italian and I've tried many places and Nick and family make the best food! Plus they renovated this little pizza shop by the railroad tracks with a new attractive dining room in addition to the main eat in area. If you know Amici's then you know Nick and family and will want to follow him to Congers. My boyfriend basically begged me to try to order after I decided I didn't want to do business here anymore. The following happened this evening.... 1) Told a 30 minute wait for a sandwich, 3 different fried items and 20 oz bottle of DIET soda and we live two minutes away. 2) Food ordered 8:40 and arrived at 10:05. 3) Called and asked for an update on food after 45mins, was told food was on the way. 4) Called again at hour mark and was asked for my address for a second time. 5) Food finally arrived and was tepid at best. 20oz diet bottle of soda for diabetic friend became a 2liter of regular soda. 6) Called to complain and ask for hot food and was immediately told the kitchen was closed and no hot food would be made. 7) Asked for a possible refund from the owner and was BERATED over my original review of this establishment concluding in the driver picking up the cold food and no charge on our credit card. FINAL CONCLUSION: I stand by my original review....buyer beware of the owners bark and bite! read more
