I can't believe I haven't Yelped these guys yet. This is my third time here and I can't believe it's ONLY my third time. Let's start with the service. Stellar!!! The kitchen staff to the wait staff...friendliest folk and different people each time. Except is it the owner I see every time? I assume the owner but regardless, friendly guy and always out and around and completely approachable. I think that the fact that my boyfriend asked when he made mention that the chicken and waffles were awesome last time we came for Soul Food Sunday he was told, "You want chicken and waffles? We can make that for you." Not Sunday, not on the menu but heck, they made it for him simply because they could. I think that's awesome service. Moving onto the food; drool worthy, plentiful and not overpriced. I really can't find the words to describe how amazing it tastes. I'll drop some pictures and that's all I'll need for your mouth to automatically start watering. Perfection all around. Drinks are hand poured, no skimping on the rum and no overpowering, my cider from the tap was perfectly cold...noms. I'm currently going home to take a nap. I've been here a couple times now, and the food just never disappoints. I came last night with a friend for a quick dinner to catch up on life. We were promptly seated and the waitress came right over to help us out if we needed anything. Being we both wanted to work out later in the evening, we sadly declined the wine down Wednesday [I guess we really are growing up, this is a sad day people]. We both ordered a burger, and they were cooked to absolute perfection! I got the bacon blue cheese burger, and it had just the right amount of blue cheese, melted, on the burger. The bacon was cooked perfectly and were nice thick cut slices. We both got sweet potato fries, which were also so so so very tasty! I haven't had a burger cooked so perfectly in a long time! The other times I have come, I've done more appetizers, and their daily specials.... all have tasted amazing.. from nachos, to mac n cheese buffalo chicken pizza (yes that was a thing) to salads... ALWAYS check the specials, they always seem to have something up their sleeve that you only thought you could come up with in your foodie dreams! I was definitely impressed from just 1 trip. It's possible they may have the best wings in RI but my search is never ending! I popped in with my 17 year old daughter on a Thursday absolutely starving. Lucky for me it was 35 cent wing night! The only catch being no take home & they'll charge you full price if you don't eat them all. Not a problem for a fattie like me! Brass Monkey gets bonus points for not only having lemon pepper on the menu but for having the best damn lemon pepper wings I've had in a while. There are 6 other flavors (Buffalo, BBQ, Honey Mustard, Bourbon, Teriyaki & Garlic Parm) which is a good sign. Do a few flavors & do them well I say. And the wings were awesome. I really liked the Bourbon & BBQ. Good size & meaty. Flavors were spot on: not too sweet or drowning in sauce. I polished them off with a 'Gansett draft. I also split some fries & the special Mac 'N Cheese with my daughter. I liked the bacon & jalapeño peppers in the mac 'n cheese but it was a little runny. Still pretty damn tasty. The fries were fast food style but a step up in quality. It appeared to be family friendly even for a Thursday night. I only saw one child & it seemed most of the crowd was college age. I'd definitely come back with the family. They had multiple TVs on & from my seat I could watch hockey & the MLB playoffs. It must get rowdy during a Pats game. If I was in PVD more often or lived closer Brass Monkey would definitely be my go to wings spot. The deserts listed on the daily specials looked amazing too so next time I'll try them & follow up. It's only been open for 5 weeks. Nice enough place, a decent group of work people enjoying themselves. Love that they have Blackened fish sandwich and Tandoori chicken sandwich. All sandwiches come with a choice of sweet potato, traditional fries or veggies. Also got the calamari for appetizer. Sandwiches were big. Calamari was crisp but tasteless; batter needs more seasoning. Blackened fish was delectable. Fries were okay. Tandoori chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry. Sweet potato fries -- well -- they are good on their own. Prices for dinner entrees were on the high side. Starts from $11 - $16 yet menu was nothing special -- usual lobster ravioli, pasta, et. al. Service was friendly and attentive enough. Like I said, if you go with a goal to have a good time from the company of your friends, drinks and atmosphere, this spot is a "no fail". Went here with a group of colleagues after work today and had a great time. Cocktails and beer selections were both great, with some nice seasonal choices included. We ordered the chicken tenders with a variety of sauces, and they were house made and very tasty. I wanted to go somewhere different especially for the superbowl ... a friend recommended the brass monkey and that we had to go to the brass room ... and here are my thoughts AWESOME big 70inch tv with a couch right in front of it felt like i was at the 50 yard line .... tvs everywhere there was no way i could have missed anything Wings- bbq wings was nice ...buffalo wings was good... bourbon wings is a must try ... i would stay away from the parmigian wings [its fried chicken wings with parmigian cheese tossed in] Nachos- a1 we got the Buffalo chicken nachos and the bbq chicken nachos both were cheesy and delishious. .. We also got this shrimp saucey spicey thing where they give u garlic bread on the side and u dip it in and get this awesome flavorful bite of shrimp sauced up to perfection. .. One of my favorite places to go hangout and get a drink. The beers are well priced and they have a good variety. And I love the fact they have my favorite beer Night Swimmah on tap! They have some good cocktails too if you're not into beer. I've had the food here a few times too and it's pretty good. The burgers and the Cuban sandwich is really good. My husband works a few miles from Brass Monkey so it is safe to say this is his local bar. Him and his coworkers often stop by for lunch or an after work beer. Since he is always mentioning the brass monkey I decided to look this place up and see what their menu had to offer. I was very happy when I saw they had Cuban sandwich in their menu. With this in mind we set out to go there for our cheat meal. We went on a Sunday at around noon and the place was completely empty which was fine with us. Let's start with the service. The service was great and the waitress made conversation wit us and was very attentive. It did help that my husband already knew her. Now the food; I was very very disappointed with my Cuban. It was cold, the cheese was hardly melted and it just did not taste good. My husband got the Italian Grinder and he liked it. He usually gets the wings when ever he goes with his coworkers and he says they are really good. Not many non-Hispanic restaurants can pull off a good authentic Cuban. I am always happy with my time at the Brass Monkey. The service is always fast and of quality and the food and drinks are always awesome! Amongst my fav's on the menu; the FRIED pickles (yes I said FRIED pickles), the BBQ Chicken Wings and the Sweet Potato fries. I could literally eat these three things every time I go there and I don't think I will get tired, seriously. The also make a kick a%$ Moscow Mule (w/ Whiskey instead of Vodka), which I must say I drink regularly, at many places and not many can make them to my standards (call me a Mule snob) but they make it just right and they serve it in the copper mug, which I have only found at one other place in Providence, so I was impressed. Overall it is a great place, with great food and atmosphere. If your looking for a after work spot or just a place to grab food and drinks that is light and fun, then this is your spot. So far, so good! Went to brass monkey on a night when the patriots played on a Sunday (they lost), and the place was completely packed. There were plenty of TVs there. HUGE TVS. So if you needed to peak at the game, you're a glance away. The food was very unique different. They do Thursday wing days, 1/2 price glasses of wine night, and soul food Sunday. I had twenty peices of the Parmesan garlic wings -DEVOURED. And I also had the chicken and waffle; which was delicious. The waffle was hard yet soft inside and the grits that held the chicken in between was savory. It was amazing. Let the picture speak for itself You'll definitely be seeing me there to. It really pains me to not be able to write a five star review on this place. I went here on recommendation from a fellow foodie who is always spot on. She raved about the bacon wrapped meatloaf and said it was for sure a must have. So four of us went last night. The parking lot is a good size so we parked no problem. It's a decent sized place so we had plenty of seating. When we got there it was pretty quiet but by about eight it Got packed. That may be the reason for the service. I won't disclose the servers name but service is the Problem here. Two of us are big craft beer lovers and if you pay attention to us we will probably rack up a pretty decent sized bill. We were not given the chance. Our bill was 60.00 for four of us. It could have easily doubled. We can all easily down three or more drinks and we had five between the four of us. We asked for water three times before she remembered. I had one beer and wanted more so asked for the beer menu back. I had to again ask three times for it. When I finally got it I picked Out my next beer But she never came back. I had to ask for my salad dressing three times also. She remembered when I had just finished my Last bite. My friend ordered poutine fries and was still hungry so was going To order more food but she never came back. When she finally came back with the water dressing and beer menu we had already waited a while and were over it. Just wanted the bill. It took quite a while for it to come and after we got it she was no where to be found. We went To The hostess table to ask someone to take our payment. I'm not sure if she was new or maybe they were short handed that night but it just wasn't a great experience. Besides the inattentive service I have to say the food was really good. Woah, how have I not written a review for the Brass Monkey yet? This is kind of a not so hidden gem, it's always busy thanks to the JWU crowd but because of it's location just outside of downtown I feel like it doesn't get as much attention as it should. My first visit was on St Patrick's Day, I desperately needed a reuben sandwich but wanted to avoid anywhere with even a hint of Irish in it's name. Thanks to their Instagram I saw they were having St Patrick's Day specials so we headed there. The bar side was packed and super busy as you'd expect on this holiday, but it was a short wait for a table. They had a stout on special that night, I think it was revival and it was cheap and delicious. My husband got a lamb shank dinner and he was pleased and my reuben was exactly what I was craving. They really impressed us on such a busy night. We came back a few weeks later for brunch and it did not disappoint. The throwback jams and my chicken & waffles were awesome. We were so impressed by our last 2 visits that when it was time for my birthday dinner we knew we wanted to bring our friends here. So we brought in a group of about 10 people, all of whom had never been and everyone loved their food. The cod bites, friend pickles, nachos, and cuban sandwiches were all huge hits. Our server was super attentive and was so sweet, the bill came before I was able to order another drink and she treated me to one on the house. It was a great experience, wish I remembered the servers name. We've been back a few times since and the food has always been delicious, the service has always been great, and we've never waited for then 10 minutes for a table. I brought my wife here for her birthday as a recommendation from family; being from out town. All was well till the waitress tried to make us pay for other family and friends tabs that were already paid. Then to insult us even further the bus boy / security demanded that we had to pay tabs that were already paid. Our table observed the young man was taken shots of tequila while on duty, which I believe fuelled him to be more pushy and confrontational. We paid our portion of the bill after speaking with the manager, and he advised us that he would take a look at the cameras which we agreed would be best ; just so he could see how his staff made a grave mistake on this special day. To be threatened to never return from the bus boy /security and the waitress for her mistake was not warranted, and I'm sure that no discipline actions will be taken against the two employees. I used to live nearby this place and I always had a good experience here. Wing night is my favorite with .35 cent wings in a variety of flavors. After my first bad experience and yelp review, John from Brass Monkey quickly messaged me and invited me back to give the restaurant another chance. The second time around was 150x better. Oscar, the host, and Devin, our waitress, were both extremely friendly and very conscientious of us the entire time making sure we were being taken care off. Our food was delicious, the beer was yummy, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. This experience has totally changed my opinion and I will definitely be returning! (Side note: totally order the pulled pork sandwiches, they were the best I've had up North! Had a good time here. The beer selection here is pretty cool. Had some fresh made french fries and it was good. Tried few varieties of chicken wings here. The sauce on wings are a bit different. We found it to be too dry. Ended up ordering separate dip of buffalo sauce to get some flavours in it but it didn't help much. Service here was friendly and fast. A bit noisy down there with the TVs around along with all the crowd. They have got their own parking along with street parking option. She was on point made amazing suggestions since we were a larger group and never missed a beat. I actually gave her my business card to see if she wanted to work for me because she was so great. I like brass monkey a lot. I've been here a few times with my coworkers and every time we go we always have a great time. The food is really good Especially if their barbecue chicken pizza and their nachos are decent as well. But the real jewel is their green tea shots; delicious and dangerous. I really wanted to love this place because it's so close to my home - it the neighborhood restaurant in Washington Park east. I don't love it. My first meal here was a burger, medium rare. I'm not easily offended by slightly over cooked or under cooked temperatures. I am offended when I get a burger that is burned on the outside and raw in the middle. Something is wrong with that. I've since been back a few times and have had solid bar food. The staff has always been nice. It does get pretty loud in here - there isn't much division between the bar and the restaurant. It's still in the neighborhood, I'll still eat here if I'm not putting in the effort, but I just wish it was better. read more

One of my new favorite spots in Providence!! It's always tough to go watch a football game somewhere where there isn't any drunk idiots causing scenes, usually those places also accommodate for really heavy and flavorless food that leads you just tired and feeling nauseous NOT THIS PLACE THOUGH!! Brass Monkey serves some AMAZING dishes that compliment well with a couple of football games on a Sunday evening or even a night out with the guys. They had a pork belly dish on special a couple of weeks ago that was so good that i went back 3 more times that week just to eat it again. Wings there are very flavorful and FULL of meat which makes a great addition to a Sunday football game along side a couple of draft beers. The owner seems to be there often which is a great thing to keep the place managed properly. The staff isn't miserable like any bar you may go to in the area and they are extremely attentive. I'm at Brass at least once a week now, it's a great place to grab a drink on the weekend as well, always playing good music, No rap or anything you find some guy in the corner fist pumping to.
