TL;DR: Really good salad, OK pizza, and slow/somewhat incompetent service at least during lunch. I'd probably recommend toppings on your pizza, as they're needed for flavor/texture (I suggest the Shroomtown) I went here for lunch with one other a little while back after walking across the bridge. I believe a long time ago, I had a decent slice for lunch, which might have been a buck or 50 cents cheaper back then or something similar. Outside of the nice price point, it was alright, but I preferred some other places back then and stuck with Pronto, My Little Pie, or others for classic NYC slices. I had previously been to one of their other locations, Vezzo, as it was near my old workplace, and had the Shroomtown, which was very tasty. All other locations aside, after a while, someone came out and told us to sit anywhere, and the two of us soon ordered one of their many lunch specials. In this case, this was the small house salad and personal plain pizza for $14.50. We both specified this, with the other guy adding meatballs to his pizza while I added button mushrooms. Pretty soon, only my House Salad came out, which had mixed greens, tomatoes, sweet red onions, roasted button mushrooms, and kalamata olives with a house dressing. The salad was large with a nice mix of flavors and textures, including a bit of earthiness, freshness, crunch, and others. The dressing had a mild sourness and went well, and overall, it was delicious and just like Alvo nearby, better than the pizza itself. The other person's house salad was taking much longer, with us eventually getting the waiter back, who brought it out after not hearing that they had ordered the same lunch special. They also confirmed the mushrooms and meatballs as part of the add-ons for the special. Eventually, my pizza came out, and it lacked button mushrooms, which I almost expected at that point. The pizza otherwise wasn't my favorite, being cracker thin and more similar to some tavern-style spots. The sauce was a bit sweet for my liking, while the cheese mix was standard. The other person's pizza came with some meatballs, with them liking the meatballs more than the pizza. Overall, it was below average, and I remember liking Vezzo much more, but that was perhaps since the various toppings helped with the otherwise generic pizza. My rating is a bit difficult. I loved the salad, the pizza wasn't that good, and the service didn't really help much. 2.8, but if I had the salad only, I'd be giving this place a much higher rating. read more

Solid pizza spot near Cobble Hill. Please note that this is definitely a thin crust spot and not a NY style pizza! I appreciate that this is one of few sitdown pizza places that take reservations. I came with a big group on a super cold Friday night, and wasn't in the mood to eat our pizza standing in a small spot or waiting in line for a couple hours to get seated. I was surprised that the restaurant wasn't very busy on a Friday night, and there were mostly families eating inside. The pizzas are a true thin crust and are very crunchy. We got the cheese, funghi, and milenesa. I really enjoyed the pop of flavor from the uncooked and marinated tomatoes in the milenesa, as well as the two types of mushrooms on funghi. We did three large pies for 5 people, which was filling (but definitely less so because of how thin the crust was). I think thin crust isn't really my thing, but these were really solid considering. It's been eight years since I reviewed Brado last, and they deserve an update, and an upgrade. Perhaps it has something to do with the two tiny humans I've made during that eight years, but I've come to appreciate the broad menu, the speedy service, the kid-friendly everything, and the fact that they seem to do more takeout and delivery, leaving plenty of tables open during prime dining hours when some of the other five pizza spots on Atlantic are mobbed. The bar inside is fine, and the booths are roomy and welcoming, and on a nice day it's always good to sit in the sunshine out front. I've also branched out and tried a number of other items on the menu. The arancini is surprisingly great, the salads are very solid, and waffle fries are always, always a winner. While the thin, cracker crust of their pies is still a little thinner and more cracker-like than I'd prefer, I've discovered that as long as you're getting a pie weighed down by an abundance of toppings (the Shroomtown and the Big Pineapple for instance), it's not quite as crunchy. If you're rolling with a regular pie, it's weirdly better when delivered, as the crust has steamed and softened a bit. I realize this is all pizza blasphemy, but that's how I prefer Brado's pies. Brado is not one of my favorite pizza spots, but it is a reliable place for dinner with good food, and something for everyone. Especially the little ones. read more

I'd rate Brado NYC three and a half stars. Nice looking restaurant and bar. We sat at the bar for a couple of beers. Only craft offering was a Pilsner from Talea. Everything else on draft was macros. They had an interesting happy hour promotion which include a large pizza with the order of a pitcher of beer. Handful of TVs above the bar. They're positioned pretty high, but the overall atmosphere seems pretty conducive to watch a game or another event. They had two single occupancy restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. It's reasonably priced, they have happy hour drinks, and everything we tried was absolutely amazing. The blood orange martini is to die for, margarita pizza was so good too and one of the best penne a la vodka I've ever had. Decided to stop by on a Saturday evening. Fortunately we were seated just before the arrival of other families. I'm guessing this place was a kid friendly restaurant and it sure was for my two kids. The thin crust pizza here is a change of pace from the usual doughy slices. I don't think you can go wrong with any toppings here as we had chicken parm on ours. We also had the chicken wings and calamari which were good. Of course we still needed to order pasta so we had the penne vodka, lasagna and carbonara. All came with garlic bread. I'm probably being generous with the 3 stars but I expected more from Brado. It was a large, charming space with indoor or outdoor seating but we decided to cool off in the a/c dining area. Service was a bit slow and as I looked at the menu, there were a few combo lunch specials. We decided to share a large cheese pie. That's it. The pizza looked inviting once it arrived to the table and the cheese/sauce combo tasted pretty good, but I wasn't sure if I was eating a pizza or a crispy cracker. There were 8 slices to the large pie ($17) and it was not only thin but very, very crispy. Since the dining area was cold, the pizza also got colder and more difficult to bite into. I was with a family member and we both agreed that it was average. When the manager/waiter asked if we liked it, I was honest to reply it was too thin and that's when he pointed out that it is in fact stated on the window--thin crust. I am pleasantly surprised by this pizzeria because I never thought I would appreciate such a paper thin crust before. Even before you read my review I will let you know that I am definitely coming back here. 1) I got the classic tomato mozzarella salad which was beautifully seasoned with lots of cut up basil lemon and garlic. Can't go wrong. 2) My husband got a custom personal pizza topped with marinara sauce cheese jalapeños anchovies and pineapple. I honestly wanted to steal his pizza because the anchovies were such a good quality and so salted that it made the pineapple really sweet. I want to come back here tomorrow just for this. 3) I couldn't decide between the meatball pizza and the mushroom pizza so I got half and half. I will say that don't get the meatball pizza because the meatballs end up being really dry and just not good. The mushroom half was fine. Overall, I think that the sauce is really fresh tomato sauce that's really tangy. Also the cheese is really delicious as you can see from my photo it's a really nice quality. Ok, while out walking and minding my own business a pizza jumps in my path. Advert on the sign says 'thin crust' and to a big mama that just worked out with her trainer moments before, it felt less like cheating than any other option. So I went in. May I just say, best possible service for the thinnest and yummiest pizza on Atlantic Ave. It was so thin that it likely just went back to its day job as a cracker and cheese with a dip on the side. But the aroma and flavor really bring this home and make the trip worth it. A cute add on was that the wine was not served in a wine glass but an actual small glass. I love a good super thin crust pizza, which you don't find many of in the NYC area. Brado is the only one I know of, in fact (besides something like Pizza Hut or Domino's...but let's don't go there). You can't really go wrong with any of the pizzas at Brado... the Meatball, the Meat Lover's, and the Tres Fuegos (especially yummy w/ manchego cheese, avocado, marinated diced tomatoes, and chorizo). Note that because the pizzas are thin crust, you might need like 2 pizzas (just saying)... OR you might order a pasta or salad on the side. Their pastas as equally as good--particularly the Pappardelle al Funghi Chicken Carbonara Sauce (w/ Carbonara sauce, bacon, pulled chicken, and mushrooms). OMG, sooooo good! By the way, one of my favorite salads in all of NYC is at Brado--the Quinoa and Avocado Salad. The feta cheese, avocado slice, and lemon dijon dressing combo really creates a taste explosion that you'll remember for quite some time. Don't miss the salad. Oh, and it's huge and shareable. =) As for the interior, it's not as quaint and romantic as some of the other Atlantic Avenue pizza spots, so the place doesn't scream "date night" to me. It has a more family friendly look inside. Brado does, however, have outside dining for days when the weather cooperates. read more
